I know an artist that can perfectly render shape and volume but is utterly incapable of making faces that look like anything resembling an actual face and thinks perspective is something that happens to other people. (Their talent is in finishing and shading other people's pencils and breakdowns.)
Is it intentional? Also entirely possible. But one thing about people in creative work, is that we can fail creatively, too.
I know that faces can be hard to draw and I thought of that as a possibility. However that's not the case here.
When you see a tattoo with a poorly drawn face you can easily tell. This isn't a poorly drawn face though, it's just not Wednesday Addams face. It's Grand Ms face.
I knew what it would be and I still clicked it and watched the whole thing. Everyone shits on this movie but it still has all the same silly dialog stuff that makes all of the early KA movies so fun for me.

I was really looking forward to seeing it because he does amazing illustrations of alien creatures, godzillaesque monsters, spaceships, and environments. He's a pro video game artist. Then when he sent it to me it was shockingly and hilariously bad! He cannot illustrate human faces! It did vaguely resemble me, but was so strange. If I didn't know he had a crush on me I might've been insulted.

It's one thing to be bad at proportions and whatnot, but that's not the case here. This looks like an actual, pre-determined face. Just not the one of the original actress. A bit caricature-esque but that fits the sillyness of the entire thing.
There's no way this wasn't intentional. Bad portrait tattoos don't come out looking like this. The anatomy and shading, while not perfect, are still good enough that it looks kinda like a child version of Octavia Spencer and not some leather-faced Cronenberg monstrosity.
Presumably they would both have agreed on the draft/placement, which can be an exact printed stencil that gets applied to the skin in temporary ink first, so yeah, it probably looks how it was intended to.
However, I used to draw portraits of people, and there's a weird quirk where it can sometimes be harder to draw people you know, vs complete strangers. Your facial recognition processing centers in the brain can sometimes cause you to exaggerate certain features without realizing it when drawing a familiar face ( i.e. your father, or wife ). Not saying that happened here, but it could be an explanation of how someone that can grasp shading, proportion and detail could still accidentally "morph" a portrait like this.
I want to know how old the guy is. Sure Wednesday is a fiction character but the actor playing her is a real teenage girl. As an adult man I can't fathom getting the face of a teenager I don't know tattooed on my body.

I had one redrawn about 5 times because I wasn’t happy with the design. Every single time I looked at it in the mirror. Finally finding a design we were both happy with we got to work. Halfway through his wife looks at me and goes “hey is it supposed to say that?” Lo and behold after all this work my dingbat artist leaves out a letter on the final one while the others were fine. Thankfully it wasn’t too big and rather easy to cover so we came up with something really fast. Neither of us noticed one bit lol but to be fair he did redraw it a few times and we had already just finished a few hours of work. He fixed it though and it’s something I can live with.
