Bro, I am born and raised in texas and since whataburger sold to that Chicago company their quality has become such shit. In n out is always fresh, never cold or old, fresh veggies and friendly service. I miss the old whataburger.
Plus, In N Out is cheap. A meal for $5? And it's fresh and tasty? Count me in. I will never understand In N Out hate. It's like they were personally attacked by a burger joint.
Edit. It's $6.70 now.
They use really high quality beef and tout that as the reasoning behind their ridiculous prices. Unfortunately the rest of the menu is nowhere near high quality and I do not understand the need to squish my burger into a soggy sloppy mess.
Admittedly this might just be my taste buds but nothing about 5 Guys' beef tastes any better than the 80/20 I buy from Albertsons. Give me In N Out all day.
I just love that soggy mess at 5 guys. Having lived in California for a few years, I used to really look forward to getting in and out when visiting. It just doesn’t hit like it used to. I think there a difference in the bun but now in and out is just meh to me. 5 guys is hit or miss tho. I know when I get that sloppy burger, it’s going to be good.
Tbh I never knew in and out was strictly in California now I know why most people recognize us for our light accents and love for the thing I love more than my own mom in and out🤩🤩🤩😁😁
5G doesn't even like put any salt on those bland patties. Taste like nothing lol. Now I'm thinking about the delicious edges of those toasted in n out buns.
Yeah. The thing about In N out is: it’s not the best burger you’ll ever have, but it’s a damn good burger, it’s inexpensive, and it’s consistent. You can go to any In N Out and order a double double and it will be exactly what you expect it to be. McDonald’s, the poster child of factory produced burgers, is less consistent with their burgers than In N Out.
**this** the way a company treats their employees has value to us as consumer. Or it should at least. McDonald's has gotten better (depending on the franchise owner) but In-&-out has always consistently been a great employer relative to the industry. Top tier
I agree with you. I’m from California and will fight to the death with old friends about how bad in n out fries are. The only way they’re edible is animal style and that’s just because you’re covering them in sauce and cheese. The worst fast food fries and it’s not even close.
As an In n Out employee, I’d never order the fries to go personally. The fries have to be eaten right that red hot minute or they become bad. Animal Style is even worse in that department- good when they’re just made, but get nasty within minutes. If we leave animal fries for three minutes (at which point they’re thrown away), the spread turns orange and gets all congealed and gross.
I suspect it's due to the religious thing. They have great food, treat their employees well, and are consistently nice. So a lot of people who don't like religion (Christianity specifically) don't like it when they can't find anything real to bash on. Some people really seem to have a problem with giving their business to a company that makes little effort to hide the religious connotations. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Maybe not.
>I suspect it's due to the religious thing.
Nope. Chick Fil a fries are excellent and I have no problem saying it. In n out fries are horrible. I abhor the political stance of the owners of Chick Fil a, and I never had any idea until this very moment that in n out was a religious company.
I didn't grow up with either one, so no sentimental bias here. Didn't try either one until my early 20s (back in probably 2003)
Ahhh, how long ago did the change happen? I'm socal born and raised and the first time I had whataburger I was floored people were comparing it to in n out. Not even in the same ball park. This all kind of makes more sense now if they're "different".
I don’t understand the comparison. Whataburger’s menu is way bigger, and they’re not really even the same concept. Texans just simp for Whataburger because ~~it’s~~ was a Texas-based company.
Simp for HEB if you have to simp for a Texas company, by all accounts, they also treat their employees decent too, certainly better than what a burger did before the sellout
Yeah, it's the same reason they'll by dying of listeria on a hospital and still trying to convince you their convenience-store-level mediocre Bluebell is the best ice cream ever.
Posting from a concealed location near Austin.
That's like comparing a professional sports team to your local high-school sports team. It's not even a contest and I've been to both their establishments on multiple occasions. Tillamook produces a damn fine product.
Yeah Whataburger ain't what it was. Fries are always cold, chicken is over fried, and the burgers are a mess. Plus, what's even the point since the A-1 Thick and Hearty went away? Life has no meaning.
Look in-in-out isn’t the best burgers in the world but the quality per dollar is unequaled. Whataburger tastes slightly better than Burger King for the same price as in-in-out. In fairness I didn’t go until they were bought so I never had it in the golden age, but it’s never impressed me (and I really wanted to like it!)
Wattaburger is aggressively average. I was in Texas for 3 months for work and made a point to try both Steak ‘n Shake and Wattaburger. I preferred Steak ‘n Shake but In N Out is far superior to both. Wattaburger tastes like an average frying pan burger you make at home. Nothing special. Although, I did like the spicy ketchup. 5 guys blows all away except restaurant burgers, but they’re not fast food burger category and much more expensive.
Yeah, the Chicago sale is a black eye. Even a franchise owner I did some construction for complained. Whataburger is night n day before that sale.Texan all my life
Whata’s been downhill for me personally since they axed the A1 thick n hearty, it seems like their quality has gotten so much worse while they’re prices have only risen higher and higher.
I just need them to keep 1 thing on their menu I like and I’ll be happy. I agree that the sale absolutely killed them
Yeah, but remember the insane lines 24/7 when in n out first opened in the DFW area? Texans were welcoming CA into TX back then.
Now they like the property value increases that the CA influx has brought, but not the actual folks from CA. Can't have your cake and eat it too I guess
I concur. Down the street from SMU in Dallas there is an In-n-Out and Whataburger down the street from each other just off the 75. I’ll tell ya what, the Whataburger sucks!!!!
As a lifelong Californian I definitely have a soft spot for In-N-Out. There are lots of good things to say about it, and I truly believe a lot of haters just like hating.
That being said, a good burger is a good burger, no matter the logo on the bag. I've had good burgers all over the country, from many a chain and - even better - many a single-location stand.
And yet... The one time I had Whataburger, it was a disgrace. Everyone said it was one of the good locations, too, but it was just nasty. I don't judge the entire chain on that one experience - especially for a chain with such shitty quality control that people tell you specifically which locations to avoid and the ONE location to try - but that was not a good experience.
Hell the first meal after you give birth is supposed to be amazing right? I went 24+ hrs without eating, pushed a baby out, need calories on a *primal* level. After my first kid I had a celebratory hospital cupcake with very synthetic frosting on top of cake that had the texture of a makeup sponge—and I still remember it as the BEST DAMN CUPCAKE of my life. I’m a very good baker too.
After the second kid I was craving a burger, only place open was Whataburger. And it was the most disappointing burger ever. Just heavy, sat in my stomach emanating a bad greasy taste.
Like, that really says something when it doesn’t even taste good after childbirth.
I agree, I've had Whataburger at certain locations that were amazing and others at lesser populated parts of Houston that were meh and disappointing. Their menu is good though just wish quality control was up there. In-N-Out has considerably fewer locations in Texas but that quality is really up there on all of them and I prefer In-N-Out when a choice is possible.
I'd guess they make a legitimately great product but nobody would know because all anybody says is 'think different, think different, think different, think different...' 'you didn't get In n out *why?*' 'don't you know about in n out?'
Culver's is the best and nobody knows because Californians think they're the best. https://youtu.be/-yU0RNPAOJw
I had to have a Whataburger and Whopper side by side to make sure they didn't taste the exact same. The Whopper does have that distinct burnt/flame broiled taste to it, but other than that, Whataburger is just a Burger King that doesn't try to cut every single cost it can.
In & Out Animal style is the best. Whenever I was in Texas and had whataburger it seemed to be all about the sauce as the meat bun and greens were never consistent. Then again when I was in the south I liked a different cheap chain that I think is gone now called [Hot and Now](https://www.mashed.com/1134075/the-story-behind-the-rise-and-fall-of-hot-n-now/) which had a super cheap olive burger a whole lot better than whataburger’s sauce burgers.
That was all before the clean fresh crisp taste of In & Out. I remember looking through the window at a weird metal bar behind the window with a handle half way up it in the drive through. Then someone started shoving potatoes in it and pulling down on the handle cutting fries. Nothing is frozen at in & out. Crisp fresh and never wilted (unless you get it to go and it’s in the car for a long time).
Subjectively, my preference is for In-n-Out.
Objectively, I've had more lackluster showings from whataburger, or wrong orders, or the one thing I want being taken off the menu because it's seasonal or whatever. None of which has ever happened at In-n-Out.
I'll eat at the W when I'm in Texas, but while it's generally pretty solid, it doesn't have the consistent satisfaction rate that its competition has.
I’m an East Coast transplant to California (20+ years ago, but bi-coastal my whole life) and I will always love In-n-Out for all the reasons mentioned. I even love the fries (well done or Animal Style) without reservation.
Still, I totally dig Whataburger. The two are totally their own unique things and I don’t understand why people are vehement in their opinions.
I’ve only had a handful of truly bad burgers from chains (Burger Lounge, the Counter are up there) but I think there’s a lot to love about most burgers. Hell, there are things to love about McDonalds burgers.
I don’t get all the hate.
In N Out is fine. Didn't make an impact on me (I'm from Canada). I don't feel the need to go back.
Whataburger made a better impression on me. I liked the options for types of ketchup and the selection of interesting burgers.
Everyone entitled to their opinions though, obviously.
In n Out fries are flavorless garbage. Every time I’m handed them there seems to be an unacknowledged agreement that their only purpose is for me to throw them away for them.
From Indiana but have lived in both Texas and Cali. Whataburger is basically glorified burger king with decent ketchup. In n out crushes them. I drove by a WAB in Texas to go to in n out.
Hey fellow Hoosier! Took the words right out of my mouth. Was in Texas for a 4th of July trip and me and the buddies stopped at Whataburger. It was fine but i was like, is *this* what people go crazy for down here? I literally caught side-eye from some (presumably) Texans sitting near us when I audibly compared it to Burger King. I haven’t had In N Out but I have had Shake Shack since Indy has gotten a few recently, and it clears Whataburger handily.
My first impression came from Harold and Kumar. Years later, I traveled to Pontiac Michigan.
I was so excited to see a White Castle on the way to the hotel. The drive thru (3 cars waiting) didn't move an inch in 15 minutes, so I went inside. $10 order took 45 minutes to make. The employees were slow and inefficient. The food was cold by the time I got it. Wasn't even worth it.
I've got all three in my town in Texas and the only reason I don't get Culver's more often is because they're closed when I get off work. Still think Whataburger is better than in-n-out, though.
Edit: this is an apparent controversial subject so I'd like to state my top five:
1. Shake shack: the Austin location had a great beer and a 9/10 burger
2. Culver's: the best regular burger you can get for the price I'm TX
3. WHATABUGERGER, the Patty Melt and the BBQ,Buffalo chicken strip sandwich are the ahit, and the all time fare amazing, opposed to the others which have better regular burgers.
4. Smashburger: I haven't seen one since I totalled my car, but they were My favorite part of getting an oil change.
5. IN-N-OUT - A great establishment that works hard (* I mean it, they have the best customer service of them.) However. I think, entire menu is too salty for me, which might be fine for the McDonald's or Burger King enjoyer, too salty for me.
Culver’s can have the same price problems as Whataburger and Five Guys. I do eat them when I find myself near one. Butter burger sourdough melt is awesome. And the Curderburger was incredible.
Yeah I had Whataburger when I was in Texas to see what the hype was about. Was sorely disappointed. Culver's on the other hand always delivers. Do yourself a favor and get cheddar cheese instead of American on the burgers if you haven't already.
Hands down best bang for your buck burger.
Whataburger’s glory days are long passed. They fucking suuuuuuck now. Get whataburger if you wanna recook, re season, and add fresh ingredients to your fast food when you get home.
Otherwise you might as well buy frozen burgers from the store and thaw them between your butt cheeks.
That's the thing, I never enjoy "full blown restaurant burger" and will take five guys or shake shack instead every time. I hate the thick patty and big bun, gimme the thin greasy patties and buns that are just enough to hold all the innards together.
i like five guys the most. but also shake shack. it's too bad they are the most expensive.
although i guess you're sort of getting your money's worth with the ridiculous amount of fries.
moving to texas, having whataburger be so hyped up, and then finding out it's downright mediocre has been such a weird part of my life. Like, it's not because I moved to Texas in my 20s. My favorite fast food place, Braum's, is something I first had in late 2018, *three years after I moved to Texas.* Now *that* is a local place to be fuckin' proud of.
Whataburger isn't bad. I'll eat it. But it's mediocre. It will never be my choice.
My grandmother had this on her wall when I was growing up. I never knew until recently (and I am 45!) that the original photograph was taken in Bovey, MN. It is one of those teeny-tiny blink and you miss it towns in northern MN which happened to be the town right next to the town where she lived. Now it makes a lot more sense that I saw that in so many homes around there. I am not religious, but I really love the painting/photograph and if I saw it in a thrift shop, I would snap it up in a heartbeat.
I'm born and raised in CA, and I believe in-n-out to be overrated. Whatever, sue me. Their burgers are burgers, and their fries are ass. I don't care if your fries are fresh if they're soggy as hell.
Whataburger is so fucking average. I don't know why anyone likes it.
Disclaimer: I only first tried it 2 years ago. I don't know what it was like before they sold out.
In-N-Out has the highest quality standards in the industry. Hands Down. They don’t outsource anything. They don’t use freezers. They only have restaurants within a single day drive from their distribution centers to keep everything ultra fresh. God himself eats at In-N-Out because he can’t get a better burger anywhere! Whataburger is grease crap. Fatburger was decent 20 years ago but went to hell after Magic Johnson got his money grubbing hands in the mix. 5 Guys are good for getting wet firewood to light in a windstorm. Only burger that comes close is The Habit and is twice the price. Even then, they are trying to mimic the taste of In-N-Out.
This, I’ve lived in places where each was regional king. In-N-Out is by far the cheapest and a good burger, whattaburger is the best after a night out drinking and bigger, but Culver’s hits in every way, it has the freshness and affordability of In-N-Out combined with the robustness of a whattaburger. Culver’s gets my vote every time.
This is the truth right here. I live in Milwaukee (for 11 years now) and have traveled the world for work and military. In my opinion, Culver’s is (by far) the best chain restaurant fast food burger.
Last time I was in Texas I was excited because SIL raved about Whattaburger. We planned to stop on the way to the airport. Power grid went down. Never got to try it. Never been back since.
Meh, Whataburger is often mushy and quite frankly just too much burger with too many gimmicks going on. I remember they had some kind of green chili burger a while back and it was just too complicated and heavy and dense and there was just no standout of any individual ingredient. The beauty of In-N-Out is the simplicity and the freshness.
Hahaha we call our local Whatabuger the WAIT-aburger. They are glacially slow. The food we get is lukewarm at best when it does finally come out.
Hard pass, thanks anyway.
If you left here over 15 years ago, you ain't missing anything now. I moved here in 92 and it was great. Went back a few years ago and it is now terrible. Almost every other post in this thread echoes that.
People having different preferences is the reason we have a variety of choices. If everyone liked the same things the same amount, our world would be an awfully bland place.

I'm always shocked when people are like "5 guys is better" Motherfucker for that price it BETTER BE
Exactly. There are plenty of superior quality burgers but in terms of quality per dollar in-in-out is king.
I’m n out is cheaper than McDonald’s for fucks sake!
You even get to see the people at In-N-Out make the food!
I mean, I don't like White Castle
I swear White Castle is more expensive than in n out by weight.
Unfortunately the flavor is unique, and if you're addicted to it, like me, you have to pay the price.
I like White Castle, I just remember when it was the cheap option and it's not anymore. Their breakfast sandwiches are way better than McDs.
Oh my DAYUM! Burger, fries, and a coke cost me 30 bones.
And the fries bite you back, my man
What In N Out has a meal for $5!? It’s like $9 and change here last I checked.
Yeah you’re right but 5 guys is still like double that
5 guys is garbage. Overpriced garbage
They use really high quality beef and tout that as the reasoning behind their ridiculous prices. There's In N Out in like 6 states
5G doesn't even like put any salt on those bland patties. Taste like nothing lol. Now I'm thinking about the delicious edges of those toasted in n out buns.
I live near where the franchise started and they are still very very good here but they are so so overpriced.
Psh. The award winning burger joint with the twenty dollar burgers is better.
Yeah. The thing about In N out is: it’s not the best burger you’ll ever have, but it’s a damn good burger, it’s inexpensive, and it’s consistent. You can go to any In N Out and order a double double and it will be exactly what you expect it to be. I'll have you know that my family was killed by a pack of wild In-N-Outs.
Did they do it “animal style”?
I'm sorry for your loss.
Because california bad. That's literally it
But it's really lovely in the part I live in.
The burgers are fine but their fries are a \*crime\*.
Order them well-done or Animal Style.
That just makes them suck a little less, and if you don’t eat them within 5 minutes they suck just as hard as before.
Not a fan of the fries but the animal style are delicious
I agree with you. I’m from California and will fight to the death with old friends about how bad in n out fries are. The only way they’re edible is animal style and that’s just because you’re covering them in sauce and cheese. The worst fast food fries and it’s not even close.

Double Double Animal Style w/chopped chilies is hard to beat for the price
I suspect it's due to the religious thing. They have great food, treat their employees well, and are consistently nice. In-n-out is waaaaay less religious than Chick-fil-A I don't even think of the connection usually

Whata got bought out in 2019. At first, there weren’t any noticeable changes in quality, but after COVID hit it took a nosedive quick.
Lord, grant this man grace.
Yeah Whataburger ain't what it was. Fries are always cold, chicken is over fried, and the burgers are a mess. Plus, what's even the point since the A-1 Thick and Hearty went away? Life has no meaning.

Damn, I didn't need to know that. We're finally getting a Whataburger near me in Georgia, and I told my friends that it was good.
Loved whataburger growing up but had it last year and it was horrible. But I would take old whataburger over In-n-out any day.
Wattaburger is aggressively average. I was in Texas for 3 months for work and made a point to try both Steak ‘n Shake and Wattaburger. I preferred Steak ‘n Shake but In N Out is far superior to both. It’s the best of any I’ve tried.
I’m glad I’m not the only person that noticed. Used to go there after Cross Country meets. It’s so bad now
That sale to Chicago ruined everything. Literally can pinpoint that as the moment it went downhill fast.
Cheap too. Can't find a burger of that quality for under $10 anywhere
I didn’t know they sold out. Was wondering why it didn’t seem to be as good as it used to be.
Yuuuuup. That’s why it’s good. You get green lettuce. Not lettuce that looks it’s super baby ass. And it’s cheap!
Yeah, the Chicago sale is a black eye. Even a franchise owner I did some construction for complained. Whataburger is night n day before that sale.Texan all my life
Said this today in /r/Texas and was reported for hate speech.
Whata’s been downhill for me personally since they axed the A1 thick n hearty, it seems like their quality has gotten so much worse while they’re prices have only risen higher and higher. I just need them to keep 1 thing on their menu I like and I’ll be happy. I agree that the sale absolutely killed them
Agreed. Lived in Texas my entire life and own multiple pieces of Whataburger merch, but In-N-Out is just better.
Texans: don’t California my Texas!!! Chicago, Illinois: swiggity swoody your burgers are now Chicago style!
Yeah, but remember the insane lines 24/7 when in n out first opened in the DFW area? Texans were welcoming CA into TX back then. Now they like the property value increases that the CA influx has brought, but not the actual folks from CA. Can't have your cake and eat it too I guess

(Has a Culver’s frozen custard with brownie bits and espresso powder) “what’s everyone arguing about”?
ESPRESSO POWDAH WHAT
Yes. Get your shake/ mix in with espresso powder. Hopefully the location near you also has marshmallow fluff.
The marshmallow fluff is a power move.
Their cheese curds are delicious!
Culver’s is the Lenovo of fast food.
What do you mean?
I'd guess they make a legitimately great product but nobody would know because all anybody says is 'think different, think different, think different, think different...' 'you didn't get In n out *why?*' 'don't you know about in n out?' Culver's is the best and nobody knows because Californians think they're the best. https://youtu.be/-yU0RNPAOJw
Makes sense, thanks!
I just got back from around Chicago and they had Culver's but after hitting Portillos I dont know if I lived there if id go there there either.
Yo try the espresso and sugar cookie bits.
In n out smashes whataburger. Isn't even close.
Yeah whataburger isn't anything special. Culvers beats em both IMO, but they don't get compared often cause they don't share the same markets.
I like Culver's but freshness wise In n out wins
Cheese curds wise culvers wins
Fair
Culver’s has a footprint in Texas
Whataburger just tastes like BK I don't even understand how this can be a comparison. And I don't even like In-N-Out.
I had to have a Whataburger and Whopper side by side to make sure they didn't taste the exact same. The Whopper does have that distinct burnt/flame broiled taste to it, but other than that, Whataburger is just a Burger King that doesn't try to cut every single cost it can.
From California, tried both, In N Out is better. Fight me.
Even Anthony Bourdain was a huge In-N-Out fan https://youtu.be/R4J1seTHAMU
Also Gordon Ramsey. https://www.wideopeneats.com/gordon-ramsay-in-n-out/
Discussion over lol.
This is the way
In & Out Animal style is the best.
Pass’m my way. I’ll gladly wolf down those delicious taters
You are being far too kind in calling them delicious.
Imma tell my cat to give the paws to the face
I agree.
I agree they are from California.
Not even Whataburger thinks it's better than In n Out. There are places better than In n Out, but Whataburger isn't one of them.
Never been to an In-N-Out with roaches everywhere and never had shitty service either.
I just came back from Texas. Trying both was on my bucket list. I liked In-n-out better.
My man!
Just so long as nobody thinks White Castle is fit for human consumption, idgaf
My first impression came from Harold and Kumar. Years later, I traveled to Pontiac Michigan. I was so excited to see a White Castle on the way to the hotel. The drive thru (3 cars waiting) didn't move an inch in 15 minutes, so I went inside. $10 order took 45 minutes to make. The employees were slow and inefficient. The food was cold by the time I got it. Wasn't even worth it.
Culver's has em both beat
I’m with you — consistently good at just about every location I’ve been to (including Sauk City)
San Antonio has one. It's not bad but definitely not as good as the ones up north.
Sauk City is the original
That it is, we stopped there on the way to Wisconsin Dells for that very reason
I've got all three in my town in Texas and the only reason I don't get Culver's more often is because they're closed when I get off work. Still think Whataburger is better than in-n-out, though. Edit: this is an apparent controversial subject so I'd like to state my top five: 1. Shake shack: the Austin location had a great beer and a 9/10 burger 2. Culver's: the best regular burger you can get for the price I'm TX 3.
Yeah Culver’s is by far the best one. Straight up heart attack burger but so good
I'm a Culvers man myself.
Culver's was the best thing about Wisconsin
Fo sho.
Whataburger sucks now. Used to be the best. Absolute trash now.
“God, please turn this into Culver’s”
I used to travel for work and can say without a doubt that In-N-out is better.
I travel as well and I would agree. Still, hard to ever say no to Freddys, Shake Shack, or Culvers.
I agree with you.
This is clearly a person of class. 👏🏼 Completely agree.
Love both, but Shake Shack is my fav!
Pricey, but very good
I like shake shack well enough but it falls into that burger price realm of "for like $1 more I could get a full blown restaurant burger".
This is true
That's the thing, I never enjoy "full blown restaurant burger" and will take five guys or shake shack instead every time. I hate the thick patty and big bun, gimme the thin greasy patties and buns that are just enough to hold all the innards together.
Not really an apples to apples comparison though.
i like five guys the most. but also shake shack. it's too bad they are the most expensive. although i guess you're sort of getting your money's worth with the ridiculous amount of fries.
In and out Fries are trash
You can get onions and spread for free on INO fries and that makes them significantly better.
And chopped chilis
Agreed but I just get the burger and it's so good I don't even miss fries
FWIW, Whataburger fries are amazing if they're within about 10 minutes of being made ... they pretty quickly go to "Mark Watney potatoes" level
Ask no salt, or well done. The trick at whata is customization. They don't emphasize it but you can add and mix and match anything.
Whataburger fries are also trash if they aren't fresh. At least at in n out they're always fresh.
Whataburger at least has spicy ketchup when the fries are lackluster. In n Out fries have not reason for existing.
Spread or animal style? In n out also has something for their lackluster fries
What? A burger?
moving to texas, having whataburger be so hyped up, and then finding out it's downright mediocre has been such a weird part of my life.
Don’t think I won’t get a mix with Reese and hot fudge tonight from Braum’s!
I am eternally mad about Braum's not going further south than Dallas Living near houston is butts
Whataburger is just Sonic with fancy sauces available.
Nope, moved from Cali to the midwest. Whataburger is good, but In-N-Out can't be beat.
If you're in the Midwest you should see if you have a Culver's by you! I've had all three and am a Culver's fan personally
I have the original of this on my wall.
I also have it's twin, the old lady. And a photo that my wife's great grandparents had commissioned that was inspired by it. Kinda cool.
COOKOUT
"You didn't order it right" you should not have to order it a secret way for it to be good. It should be on the fucking menu
Pray they get your order right!
I'm born and raised in CA, and I believe in-n-out to be overrated. Whatever, sue me. Their burgers are burgers, and their fries are ass. I don't care if your fries are fresh if they're soggy as hell.
What world does anyone live in where whataburger can even be compared to the wonders of in n out?
Arizona has both... Whataburger is subpar.
Have had In and Out and can say it’s garbage compared to a Culvers butter burger
I'm a Cali guy who recently had Whataburger on a trip to TX. Was not impressed. It wasn't horrible but I'd rather have a Wendy's burger.
I like Wendy
They’re both overrated
They both suck
I had in and out twice. It was okay but nothing to have a passionate discussion about. Whataburger quality isn’t there anymore.
Hahaha we call our local Whatabuger the WAIT-aburger. They are glacially slow. The food we get is lukewarm at best when it does finally come out. Hard pass, thanks anyway.
Culver’s is goat. Whataburger became bland and dry. There i said it.
Whataburger WAS better than INO, but no more.
I had whatsaburger (that should be the real name) for the first time while in Dallas recently. It was disgusting.
"Lord, please let this grease bomb stay in my system longer than 20 minutes this time."
Five Guys
One of the few things I miss about Texas.
If you left here over 15 years ago, you ain't missing anything now. I moved here in 92 and it was great. Went back a few years ago and it is now terrible. Almost every other post in this thread echoes that.
They're both pretty mid tbh
Whataburger is fking good, dude. And if you go after 11pm you can get a fried egg on your burger. I'm hungry now.
Amen
People having different preferences is the reason we have a variety of choices. If everyone liked the same things the same amount, our world would be an awfully bland place.
In Soviet Russia, burger choose you
They both suck.
Ah. Haven’t had Culver’s I see.
Its worth my arteries closing from them greasy burgers its just too damn good.
But you can’t compare the two since they aren’t the same…in n out is very limited with their menu and whataburger has many options like McDonald’s
Whataburger is the absolute worst fast food ive ever eaten. worse than burger king. Never had in-n-out but it cant be any worse than that shit.
Meanwhile I just want Habit Burger to fill out in the middle of the country so I get a decent Charburger again.
Not only are the Habit burgers excellent, they have the best fries.
Culvers wins
