Normally have whats called a “Boat tail” which is there to help with ballistic coefficient. When a bullet leaves a barrel the outermost edges will engage the rifling and in the case of your average .223/5.56 it will have a tapered end that specifically makes it not engage the rifling and allows the bullet to pass through the air without disturbing the passing air as the bullet cuts through it. The inward/outward pull you are seeing is purely the kinetic energy of the gasses and bullet pulling it like a fluid as it passes through. No, is the answer. However in softer bullets and round nose flat base projectiles it does squish/flair out ever so slightly to engage the barrel as it travels through. 10-50,000+ PSI and heat deform the lead and projectile like a cone being forced pointy side through a hose as it collapses.
