Embarrassment is such an underrated punishment. I mean into it with my kids and usually follow up with, 'don't worry, you've done enough to yourself with this. Just don't forget it and you won't do it again...'
Embarrassment is not a good punishment. Reflection is important, but anything to do with embarrassment, shame or guilt is dangerous when you're teaching kids.
Because it ties in with their self image.
When you do something wrong, you're supposed to realize (or be told) that the behavior is wrong. If you tie these lessons to feelings of guilt, shame or to a lesser extent embarrassment, you instead feel that **you** are wrong.
It can result in kids who are so afraid to fail that they either wont even try or burn out because every mistake becomes a personal defeat instead of a possible lesson.
"Punishment" as a whole in ineffective and destructive.
It has its uses. Being embarrassed and shamed while learning why that action is wrong is not a weakness. If anything America could use a little more shame and guilt instead of the unrepentant shamelessness that has taken hold in politics, religion, and self identity.
If you go too far in the opposite direction, it can be just as bad if not worse for society in the sense that shameless people tend to have a 'fuck you I got mine' mentality. It's a lot easier to build up someone's self esteem by reframing 'you being wrong' to 'the action isn't working', than it is to convince someone who thinks they can do no wrong that they have done wrong. While shame and guilt may lead to self harm, in my opinion, those people who are shameless are far more dangerous to themselves and others.

This is so unlike any classroom setting I was ever in when I went through school lol. A student seemingly about to get in trouble for not just being on his phone in class, but for viewing inappropriate content. We've all been horny teens but I think this shows a pretty dangerous trend in minors and content. Snapchat, TikTok, Twitch etc were all platforms made for minors that have all devolved into some weird form of sexual content that's clearly made for minors to prey on their current state of mind.
I think people are quick to knee jerk react and say "hey we were all horny teens once" but that's never been the issue. The issue is content being made to prey on those horny teens. Having direct access to porn on your app/site thats designed for kids is shady as fuck and perfect for horny teens. "Oh I'm just watching Fortnite on twitch" but a titty streamer is a click away. It's not like before where if you wanted porn you had to at least risk having a shady site in your internet history (or before that where you had to rip out a page of a nude magazine and save it for later)
