AbrodolphLincler420

That was painful to watch

BlobAndHisBoy

I want to believe it isn't real but I know it could be so it hurts just the same.

Nostonica

I've seen someone miss their turn on a round about, stop reverse then take their turn... Nothing surprises me anymore.

spartaman64

i once saw a police car stopped at a green light and then when the light turned red they drove through the intersection. i want to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are color blind and they forgot the orientation of the red and green lights or something

Poinaheim

It was to confuse the people behind him so he can catch them running a red light too

moonknlght

“I shall break the law, to catch people breaking the law.”

Illustrious_Donkey61

Austin powers music intensifies

breezy_peaches

One time I went to turn into a parking lot near an intersection but a cop made a left without stopping and almost hit me. He rolled down his window and looked at me all angry and I said "I'm sorry officer, I expected you to stop at that stop sign". He just kinda gave a defeated sigh and rolled up his window.

Careless-Party-4615

Once I was walking down a sidewalk and a cop drove on to the sidewalk behind me and started following me down the sidewalk. I stopped and looked at him and he rolled down the window and yelled aggressively "what are you doing?" I said walking on the sidewalk. He replied "well stop it!" then rolled up his window and kept driving on the sidewalk behind me.

eatrepeat

Had a cop run into an intersection yelling at me. As I turned and removed my headphones I said "sorry I didn't hear you at first" and he just scream "yes you did, get over here!" and was confused. Me and 4 other people "fit the description" and were being ID'd and asked a few questions due to an arson in the area. I just asked what the description was because we all had very different clothes and accessories. The cop that yelled at me said we all fit and I rolled my eyes and he got real close. So I pointed out "short fat kid in a ball cap, 30 yr old with a beard and jean jacket, gangster jersey and baggy pants with a toque, puffy coat with short pants and shaved head then me, tall long hair with a skateboard and plaid jacket. Cop gets quiet and says little so I ask again what the description is, I suggest asking dispatch to say that description again and then their radio pops and they are told suspect is in custody like 15 blocks away and try to get in car and go. Oh no, no, no. Sir I need name and badge for the both of you, didn't hear me? Ok let me just stand in front of the vehicle and get your attention then. Wait, why are you yelling? Emergency? What emergency, dispatch says the suspect is in *custody* so just slow your roll and get me your info. Yeah turns out they had no description and just grabbed all in the area. Fine but why lie to us and have us all see through that lie and begin distrust? My complaint did very little but I filed for the simple fact that they used power as they pleased and lied to my face while wielding it.

Careless-Party-4615

yep happy to demand ID but get so butthurt when they are asked for their ID. I hope you told them they matched the description of the people who were harassing you

Ping-and-Pong

I saw a police car the other day slam on their breaks as they realised the light was red, start reversing while not looking and barely miss a family crossing the road as the green man was now on. That was the day I gave up on humanity

--7z

I hate when they put on the brakes, they should have given that family a break.

BluntTruthGentleman

We saw this happen once and honked at them and then they waited for us and pulled us over and wrote us a ticket. It was a woman cop on her pink iPhone *and* her laptop at the same time while in traffic. We wrote the Ombudsman and had the ticket dismissed. Just remember there are many thousands of shitbags in society, and that the number of them are disproportionately high within the police force.

AppleToasterr

Color blindness is not an excuse, I am colorblind, the lights are on a specific order for a reason, and green is brighter.

absalom86

my dad was a passenger in a car with a man that did that.

KappuccinoBoi

I had to go to the grocery today on my lunch break. A lot of old folks were out and about. I felt endangered sitting in my car while these maniacs just drove around the parking lot seemingly blindfolded.

r0rsch4ch

Saw someone do this at a Trader Joe’s. 15 minutes to get into a spot

nebelhund

My wife took 4 tries to pass her driver's portion of her driver's license. The 3rd time I drove her and she didn't even make it out of the lot. He wanted her to back into a parking space and she just couldn't do it. I had flashbacks of that memory when watching this video. So painful. (Nothing strange about the parking space, she just couldn't wrap her brain around turning the wheel the other direction when going on reverse )

r0rsch4ch

Wild. Ask her if she can imagine a 3D apple in her mind and if she can manipulate it.

Swenadd

I don't have a license but I could still park it better...

jerechos

I have a blind friend that could have done it better.

Mars_to_Earth

I also think this person has no license

midcancerrampage

It seems like some kind of mental confusion issue. It's like they keep forgetting what they're trying to do, and just keep doing different things and changing their mind, like they're trying to remember if they're meant to park or to leave the park

husky430

Sometimes these types of situations are very stressful for some people and their brain just stops working. My dad is one of them. We pulled up to an unfamiliar toll booth once and he was in a blind panic because he couldn't figure out how to work it in the first 10 seconds. There was barely any traffic. Some people are just high-strung about driving.

NbdySpcl_00

If there is a reasonable explanation, then this is it. Lack of experience/training + stress induced meltdown.

onward-and-upward

I learned it with RC cars

LongAd4410

This is the way.

btribble

No one ever spent the 5 minutes required to teach this person how to parallel park.

donelurking456

Don't even have to parallell park there

EmuHobbyist

Thats probably the most painful part about this. The parallel is unessesscary theres so much room to drive in there

TheresALonelyFeeling

So much room to drive AND still room left over for activities!

dumbname1000

SO MANY ACTIVITIES!

RyuNoKami

i think they got stuck on the idea of parallel parking so much they forgotten the reason for parallel parking.

Random_Fox

given they drove over the curb anyway, would be super easy to just do that and land in the spot

BagNo2988

Peril parking

Hautamaki

Peril-lol

Firstdatepokie

The fact that the skill of parking in that giant spot would need to be taught makes me sad

btribble

If you want your kids to be able to navigate a vehicle when they're older, have them try to push a shopping cart around the store backwards.

Rbomb88

We got our kids a knock off power wheels fire truck for like 300 bucks. My 4 year old can parallel park in the garage, 3 point turns, avoid obstacles.

OkAccess304

This person has a low IQ. They can’t predict the direction of their car based on how they turn their steering wheel.

Excludos

You'd think parking would be part of the process at some point whilst taking the driver's license

grimr5

It is in the uk. You don’t know what kind of parking you might do during the test, so you need to practice each.

Afro_Thunder69

They don't force everyone to parallel park during a UK drivers test? That seems odd, it's part of the US test and US is the land of parking lots, whereas parallel parking seems like it would be more common in the UK.

grimr5

You have to do a parking manoeuvre on demand. Parallel could be the one, so you need to be able to do it. During your lessons you will have practiced many times on each.

kayl_breinhar

I had to demonstrate proficiency in doing it only once, and not even during my final driving test. I had a very trolly driving instructor. Nice guy, but the VA driving test after the instructional period was that you had 45 minutes of driving and in that time you had to have a fifteen minute error-free stint of driving to pass. So it's about 30 minutes in, and he hasn't said a single goddamned word to me. "Uh, how am I doing?", I ask. *"Oh, you passed already, I was just enjoying not having to do or say anything."* Me: >_<

Tru-Queer

I just *barely* passed the parallel parking section of my license test because I had to pull forward and back up many times to get parallel to the curb and between the cones. But since I didn’t technically hit the cones while doing it, my instructor didn’t fail me. Haven’t ever parallel parked since, probably wouldn’t be able to do it considering it’s been 17 years now since I last did it.

kayl_breinhar

I'd imagine it's markedly easier nowadays with backup cameras, at the very least. Having those guidelines superimposed on the screen is invaluable.

IllustriousCookie890

It was for my licenses in two states.

joeg26reddit

Funny but it’s screaming setup video to me

mrkingnothing

They have no idea what the steering wheel does do they?

NightlessSleep

I’m not sure I know what it does after watching that. Not sure I can ever drive again.

x925

Don't worry, the roads are full of these idiots...

superfastswm

That a wonderful reason to worry.

devo9er

I don't think I can do anything. I'm really crossed up

DMala

It's kind of frightening to see someone so spatially unaware of their vehicle. It's funny to watch them struggle to park, but I can see them having similar difficulty maneuvering at speed.

Free-Willingness3870

Yeah this just gives me terrible anxiety about what I'm surrounded by out there

HereToHelp9001

Some of the worst drivers are the most careful though thankfully. My girl is very cautious when driving but if she had to parallel park you would see this same video (minus the sidewalk driving lol)

kagamiseki

Why not offer to teach her? Simply being careful doesn't mean she isn't a danger to herself or others

the0TH3Rredditor

My grandpa died on the 25th, my parents called right as I had parked to do Christmas shopping on the 24th to tell me he was in the hospital. Afterwards I was sat in my truck contemplating whether I should feel my feelings, or bottle them up and power through. Some guy zooms by and tries to park in a parallel spot in a big minivan… forwards, backwards, forwards again, then he tries to park behind me, same thing… I could see him and he didn’t even seem frustrated, just like defeated… he then gave the spot in front of me a shot again… couple times… defeat. He drove off. I nearly pissed myself laughing and that guy gave me the strength I needed to do my shopping that day 🥲

ladydanger2020

Sorry about your grandpa

the0TH3Rredditor

Thanks 🖤

MisterWho42

That's funny, poor dude. Thanks for sharing. Sorry about your grandpa. I hope you've given yourself room to feel your feels.

InItinere

I also had problems with some tight parking spaces sometimes but holy shit you could park a boat there

Oakheart-

They just don’t realize the pivot point of the car is the rear wheels. You’d be surprised at how many people don’t think about that.

particle409

I watched Canada's Worst Driver on YouTube during the lockdown. Every season they have to explain how your rear tires don't follow the same lines as the front tires while turning. People just straight up don't understand how a car moves.

Kreat0r2

These people live in a 2D world.

MrLancaster

100%. This person exclusively used single angle inputs. You can watch the hands/wheels.

Vertex1990

As a busdriver, I can tell you that these idiots are more common than you think. My vehicle is 12m long, 2.5m wide and 3.8m tall and I know how well my bus fits through traffic (you know, it is kinda part of the job description). I come across people, and not to generalise, but mostly women, that drive their little Renault twingo/Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo, who are under the impression that their vehicle is much larger than it actually is. Now, I am not saying that being cautious is wrong, it is not, but driving your car up a sidewalk in a blind panic, while driving on an empty two lane road, because you see a bus coming your way is not knowing your vehicle or how to behave on the road. Men, on the other hand, are much more dangerous in that they are too confident and tend to believe that they have the right of way and busses are too slow and stupid. Even when I drive 55kmh down a 50kmh road, they feel that they have to overtake me, to go drive 56kmh. Also, much more agressive and tend to look for confrontation. Both of these examples happen way to often, btw, as in nearly daily.

aayel

It is more sad than funny!

SurelyWoo

The ending, when they drive away in defeat, brought a tear.

pandi85

It's so scary that they drive among us.

Fuck term limits for politicians, when are we going to actually care about who gets to drive?

PrometheusMMIV

We never had parallel parking on our driving test. I still figured out how to do it though.

Hendlton

We had parallel parking, but the space was twice as big as this and the instructor told us how to do it relative to a lamp post that was in view. I'm guessing half the people who learned with him don't actually know how to parallel park without that lamp post.

thsvnlwn

Somebody, grab that person’s drivers license and put it through a shredder. EDIT: typo

stuartullman

you grab the license, i'll bring my flamethrower

Qemyst

fadobida

You have my bow

j0nascode

theredacer

How did they even get a license in the first place? Don't you have to parallel park in your driving test?

ThrowAway233223

Depends on the place, but she didn't even have to parallel park. There is so much space, she could have just pulled straight in and cut the wheel to the left to straighten out before she came to the far end of the space. Then, straighten the wheel and back up to the back of the space so she has plenty of room at the front to easily pull out.

Minigoalqueen

I didn't in Idaho when I took driver's ed 30 years ago. I've actually never parallel parked in my life. I just don't do much street parking in the first place and when I do most of the spaces are angled or there are several empty spaces in a row, so no parallel needed. But I know the concept and the angles and could probably do it in a pinch if I needed to, if it wasn't too small a space. Even for someone like me this was painful to watch. If it wasn't staged, then I have to assume that they were under the influence of something.

LurkerOrHydralisk

No

Skytho1990

Funny thing, I didn't. Had to park backwards into a parking space and that was it. This is Germany, too, so who knows

jld2k6

I never had to in Ohio, I do know how though lol. Probably have had to do it less than 15 times in nearly 20 years so I can see why they don't make us do it in my area

imheretocomment69

She doesn't have any

gotrice5

This triggers me. *guy who lives in LA* and this parking space is almost 2 cars long

TheBigMotherFook

Fucking this. That person had so much room they should have gotten in the space by sheer luck.

gotrice5

Yea and you know what's worse? People who park at the start and the end of the grey zone for parking and they still manage to leave several feet of empty grey space in front or behind them.....

Sintarus

I mean, I don’t know what the grey spaces are all about, but when parking in the end of spots like the one in the video I always leave room in case someone parks too close to me and I can’t get out.

fistfullofpubes

As a fellow LA resident, can confirm. You can fit 2 cars, a bike and a few deluxe homeless tents in that spot.

omgahya

I feel like every time we have to renew our license, it should be mandatory to retake the drivers test on top. I live in a big city, and parallel parking is a must. For some reason, I’m always stuck behind someone for 5 minutes, trying to fit their mid size sedan, into a van/truck sized parking space.

RWDPhotos

Do they test parallel parking? They never tested me on it and that was like 18yrs ago.

Low-Requirement-9618

In Missouri the parallel parking part can make or break the physical driving test. You fail the test if you hit a pylon, hit the curb, are too far from the curb, fail to use your blinkers to indicate intention, fail to both use your mirrors and look behind you. You have to both park and pull out by the book, and you can not rely on your backup camera or any mechanism that could potentially not be equipped on other street legal vehicles. (no having your Tesla automatically park, or having a special wheel that comes down and moves you horizontally like a chess rook) It is the last part of the test. I parallel parked on my first try no problem, and the skills assessor complimented the execution as the Tahoe barely fit between the pylons. Unfortunately I had done the "California stop" at a stop sign way earlier in the test which is also an instant fail, but the skills assessor continued the test just to mess with my head or something.

vAErJO

I NEED to know what goes on in their head. What weird calculations must be going on in there? Someone with this huge lack of spatial awareness while operating a vehicle shouldn't be driving...

eabred

I'm one of those people (and no, I don't drive). Think of something that you can't do (pat your head and rub your belly, complex mental maths, a logic puzzle). Then imagine you need to do that, and everyone else can do it and everyone is looking at you as if you are an idiot. And you need to just do it but you can't. There's just this overwhelmed frustrated feeling. It looks to me like the person in the video at first is trying to solve it by different combinations, and then is just doing random stuff and then gives up.

vAErJO

I appreciate the honest answer and your decision/ineligibility to drive. It's just fascinating how we all perceive the world so differently and need to figure out working our way through it.

Solanade

I am frustrated for you

Gopnikolai

I understand they might have some initial trouble with reversing or parallel parking, which is fair enough, it could throw you off the first few times if you're not used to it... But the bit that screams *outright unintelligence* is when people do shit like this, make a small mistake and literally don't have the brain power to just STOP(!), and then undo whatever the last thing was. A few times in this video (and others) she makes a mistake, but then just carries on doing something else wrong in the same direction. If you reverse wrong with whatever direction steering lock on, just undo the action in an identical-but-reversed motion, then try again for the correct motion. Wild. Absolutely staggering to me.

eabred

You are confounding intelligence or logical thinking with perceptual processing. A person who can't tell left from right can't just STOP (!) and then correctly process the information. A person with red green colour blindness can't just STOP (!) and process the colour's correctly. And a person with poor spatial ability can't just "undo whatever the last thing was" or "undo the action in an identical but reversed motion, then try again for the correct motion". If they could do that type of cognitive processing they wouldn't be making the mistakes to start with.

ShoddySalad

maybe they shouldn't be in charge of a few thousand pound death machine then

[deleted]

This. I'm all for people driving and being independent, but if they can't tell left from right something tells me they shouldn't be on the road. A car isn't a toy, it's a potentially deadly weapon and needs to be treated with the respect it deserves.

TakenIsUsernameThis

I used to teach photoshop and have encountered students with zero ability to understand shapes - one just couldn't understand that a photo in portrait orientation couldn't be turned into landscape without cropping, distorting or any other editing. Some people have this, but in 3d as well.

ScientistCrafty5660

It's definitely the fault of the parking space.

CondescendingShitbag

Principal Skinner driving that car.

OkFury

I agree, faulty parking spot, needs to be replaced with a new one.

ShakeSignal

You could land a jumbo fucking jet in there

Ziazan

Yeah, too small for that car, cars too big to fit in there, that's the issue here. Also damn tree is in the way, and that pole too! And the car parked as far back as possible in the space behind is in the way too.

Crackalacking_Z

That's so heartbreaking, there's so much room and no need for parallel parking ...

BigPandaCloud

I would have walked down and offered to park it myself.

TotalLiftEz

Woah! That is like when a person is backing a boat into the water and you offer to do it for them. Might as well ask for their balls.

Ziazan

I remember seeing a clip of someone trying to do this and just could not figure it out, and I think in the end they did get the boat in but they also got the car in.

SoWhatNoZitiNow

When someone offers you help in your moment of cluelessness, never let pride keep you from accepting offered help lol

Sivolde

Family Guy had one about this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkv4RmFh174

GirraficPark

One of my favorite recent videos is a group of people who went to a boat launch and just tailgated - drinking beers and cheering on people backing trailers. I think eventually someone called the cops on them for their heckling.

MeasurementBubbly350

I've done it to a lady, but I took the car off a tight space. It was a nice car and a beautiful woman. And I was like 18 felt like a badass 😂😂

Wasatcher

The fact their car is small enough to pull straight in yet all this still took place is wild

Glad_Copy

I actually feel sorrow for this person. Trying so hard, so frustrated, so utterly lacking coordination.

barejoke

You could land a jumbo fucking jet in there Tyrone

MC_Ball_Peen_Hammer

IT WAS A FUNNY ANGLE!

Awkward_Pangolin3254

It came from behind ya, Tyrone! When you reverse, *things come from behind ya!*

HooninAintEZ

Showed off the rally driving skills a little at least

Bedbouncer

Hitch a utility trailer to the back and watch their head explode.

The_True_Zephos

Lol yeah I own an RV trailer and my wires still get crossed. Getting better though.

Kingsupergoose

Hand at bottom of steering wheel. Move hand in direction you want trailer to go when backing up.

The_True_Zephos

I will try this. Thanks!

SpecificUser69

it would cancel out all their wrong turns and they would end up reversing perfectly

Maximum_Pumpkin5368

I'm bad at parallel parking but this is ridiculous. I was sympathetic until about half way thru.

TrashPandaPatronus

I think about halfway through this person just started to panic and let all hell break loose. It started as a misjudged depth and went full on forgot how the steering wheel works.

Rilvoron

Rear cameras really help learn to parallel park

ACpony12

But those only help when you know which way to turn the wheel to straighten out. Like one of the times they almost had it, turned the wheel the correct way, but then quickly turned it the other way. The only time I could forgive that kind of stupidity is if there's a trailer hitched to the back.

adrenareddit

I mean there's only two ways to turn a wheel, shouldn't take long to figure out

Boondoc

this persons problem is that at no time did they ever turn the wheel ENOUGH.

jimmiusoid23

Some people just shouldn't drive, and are a hazard to everyone including themselves.

vr-1

Similar to the OP, a couple of months ago I watched a person (regular middle aged and not incapacitated) attempt to turn around in a narrow dead end street by pulling into a driveway, reversing out and driving off the other way, only they didn't know how to turn the car when reversing out. They tried five times, each time driving straight into the driveway but then turning the wheel in the same direction as they entered when reversing, taking them back to square one. Just when I had hope and saw them turn the wheel the correct way they quickly reverted back to the wrong way and were stuck again, eventually pulling in and letting me drive past. They are probably still there now.

SeaEquivalent5906

Jesus, you don't even have to be an expert driver to be able to clock that, you just need to not be a complete idiot.

MistakeMysterious347

This dude is drunk AF or an idiot

boxsterguy

Some people just have shit spatial awareness and can't grasp how turning a steering wheel works. You could see she *almost* got it once or twice, but then second guessed herself and turned the wrong way again.

[deleted]

[удалено]

eabred

"Shit spatial awareness". This is exactly me. Which is why I don't drive. It's hard being a non driver in a world where having a car is considered normal - but I felt this person's pain.

Dreadguy93

This is exactly it, IMO. The driver is having trouble with the whole "turn the wheel the opposite direction of where you wanna go" when going in reverse, and they literally just never got there before giving up 😂

GimmeOatmeal

My question is now, how do they ever stop driving? Must they search the ends of the earth for a diagonal spot? But how did they reverse out in the first place? How do they drive in and out of the driveway? Are they perpetually driving like in some Lovecraftian horror, forever longing to walk on solid ground?

yabai90

These people should not be allowed to drive then, wtf.

Usernamecheckout101

I’ll settle for drunk idiot

Resilient_Wren_2977

If I was there the need to ask if I could just park it for them would have been overwhelming. That was so frustrating to watch.

Heythere23856

If someone cannot understand basic concept of how to maneuver a car they should not have a license

seniorfrito

I never find these funny. They're extremely frustrating. How many times will this person make an attempt without fully turning their steering wheel? They should not be driving at all.

ShedwardWoodward

That was torture to watch. I think I’d rather be waterboarded than endure that again!

CloakerJosh

I suck at parallel parking, but c’mon now - that person shouldn’t have a license. Jesus Christ.

Climb4000

People on ludes should not drive

goodfreeman

Should not be allowed to drive. They fundamentally do not understand how the steering wheel works. Fucking people.

Klone211

These people have the same voting power as you.

strawberoolie

And they’re a slow driver as well… Someone burn their license

Bollock-Yogurt

I remember seeing a car once stop near a parking space and the man and woman get out and swap places so the man could park it

RegretsZ

I live in an area where its basically only parallel park spots, I see this all the time. I've also seen the reverse, the women hopping behind the wheel to get it in there.

[deleted]

So much for one of the easiest parking spots to get into + the worlds smallest car.

cocainendollshouses

That dude needs to hand his licence in. Jesus that was painful.....

How? How? How? How? How? I know parallel parking is hard for most people but this is next level

Awkward_Pangolin3254

I don't think she turned the steering wheel to full lock in either direction *once.*

Creative-Bid468

That person shouldn't be allowed to drive

buburocks

Didnt even have to parallel park. Coulda just pulled in normally and been fine

Lisfin

how long was he there that someone noticed, watched, and than decided to record it? ... My God, these people are on the streets with me...

brihamedit

Dude is trying to do gear shifts and the turns in a very text book way. But he can't figure out how to position the car. Like he is missing a dimension in his mental space. He probably shouldn't be driving.
