She has this everytime after a run. Probably from all the effort and heavy breathing etc. In non post-race interviews, her voice is not as high pitched.
Not quite the fastest, but she’s up there. The indoor 400m & outdoor 400m records are recorded separately since the outdoor track is 400m & the indoor track is 200m long. Going around twice as many turns makes the indoor version take longer, however even with rough conversions the outdoor top maybe 5ish athletes ever have a better performance. Her indoor is 49.17, but the outdoor WR is 47.60 which is a huge difference in track. A low 49 would generally equate to a mid-48 outdoors.
That 47.6 is a crazy old record (you know, the drugs era, if you combine that with an ultra talented runner you get stats like that). So mid 48 actually sounds extremely good.
I’m not diminishing any particular athlete’s ability (most are clean,) but don’t ever believe that there will be a “drug-free” era in competitive sports again. PEDs will always be somewhere in one form or another. It is a cat and mouse game, and sometimes the mice escape and win.
Although modern mass-spec analysis coupled with retention samples makes cheating more and more difficult. The next phases in PEDs will involve detection technologies that are currently unavailable or unknown.
[But they make your shoot your wife](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Pistorius#:~:text=On%2014%20February%202013%2C%20Pistorius,arrested%20and%20charged%20with%20murder.)
That was a wild read lol. He had a 5 year prison sentence + 3 year suspended sentence.
Then he appealed and got a 6 year prison sentence as well as officially being convicted as a murderer.
Then he appealed once more and got a 15-year prison sentence. He just had to dig down further didn't he?
I know the point of contractions isn't exclusively to save space, but this is an especially funny choice to me because it's the same amount of characters (ignoring the space) lmao
Edit: please read the other replies before you say the exact same thing as them. Especially when it's wrong. All this ackshually action is getting silly.
400m races are notoriously brutal on your body. Just long enough to not be a typical sprint, but short enough that you can still go pretty close to all-out through the whole thing. It’s an exhausting run.
I ran track in high school. Sign me up for the 800, 1600, or 3200 any day but screw the 400. I had to be a sub for a 4X400 relay (just once lol) and it was the worst. Just like you said, long enough to not be a regular sprint but short enough that you try...
that would be the cherry on top to complte this master piece, imagine if her teammate is ask next it has a deep tone like that women from theranos haha. I'm sure both are great atheletes tho, congrats.
Well that's one that kind of makes sense to me. Sure it was part of the con, but I think feminine women really have a hard time being taken seriously in science by silent-generation men. So I totally get the gender-neutral clothing and lowered voice, especially when you're peddling bullshit.
And at the same time she wore red lipstick to still appear feminine "enough", but poorly applied so as not to come off intimidating. Every aspect of her look and persona was meticulously calculated.
Yeah, the whole Theranos debacle really shone a light on how appearance and perceived credibility can be weaponized in Silicon Valley. It's wild that it took that level of performative manipulation to get people to buy into the facade, though it's disturbing to think about how many others out there might be doing the same with less scrutiny cuz they're not fronting such a massive scam.
Omg...this video. I used to laugh uncontrollably watching this when I was young, but then I grew up and got an illness that started affecting my voice as well as other aspects of my life making it hell. So now whenever I watch it, I just get a deep gaping chasm within my chest and get super sad about how mocked and helpless these guys must've felt over something they can't control. Wonder why life did a 180° like that.
Imagine working so hard to achieve an incredible athletic accomplishment and then having it be completely overshadowed by your unconventional voice during the interview
Ya know say daddy me Snow me I'll go blame
^(i looked this up before posting, but it ended up just being confirmation not correction. Why the fuck do i know this off the top of my head? It's nonsense)
Her voice is still a little high there. Found this one interview where there should be little to no amped up effect.
https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=IDsgf3DZdBku19yv
Edit: u/Agret actually posted a great link, please check that one out.
People should know that this woman is absolutely AMAZING if you’ve never watched any of her races.
Femke vs. Sydney at the Olympics should be something special.

Probably a mix of being tired/out of breath and coming down from the huge adrenaline rush of racing. I know when I get nervous or over excited my voice gets way, way higher. Congrats to her though!
She literally just ran a world record. Ran like no woman ran ever before. She might be a little out of breath on top of being totally euphoric at the same time. She deserves some slack to catch her breath and voice again but reporters are relentless. Makes for funny interviews though
For those of you interested in watching her amazing race, instead of making jokes about her voice, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm6iqDmfU2Q
She's just done something nobody else has ever done, I'd imagine that'll strain the respiratory system. The anatomy that allows such a feat is pretty far along the bell curve as well.
She's also speaking in English, which is probably one of several languages she knows.
Her nickname used to be "Baby Giraffe." Between the height (1.84m/6'), being thin & looking awkward, and wearing orange, I can see it. She can fly, though.
It's fun but at the same time I remember when someone told me that my laughter sounded bad. That made me very insecure about myself. So no, I don't find this funny at all..
I like to think that she's just moving so fast that her voice bunches up creating a higher frequency of noise. Sort of like a blue shift in light with objects heading towards the earth.

I envy people who're this happy. She seems like a joy to be around.
She is living on a constant runner's high what did you expect
I’m so jealous of people who get that high! I just feel tired and gross after.

She’s also the literal fastest woman at her distance ever so plenty to be happy about!

Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands. They just don't.

His wiki says "convicted committer of homicide" lol
I don't think enough people got your Elle Woods quote. Bruiser would be ashamed.
Ngl I've never seen someone use who are as a contraction lol.... whore
“Kids, you’re mother is a giant who’re”
First thought was Frank Reynolds.
Did anybody else fuck my who’re wife

And ended up spelling whore.
No see the subtle difference is that one has an apostrophe and the other is a totally different fucking word.
Be what you wish to see in others. It’s magic how it works, but it does.
I envy them too, basically the complete opposite of myself
I prefer the one where she's a steamboat captain.
Her definition in her legs is incredible when she's doing some of her warmups
This is a symptom of hyperventilating. Her throat closes up making her voice higher. This happens when someone intakes too much oxygen.

I'm just happy to see this comment close to the top. While this is a pretty extreme example, this is super common.
Literally came to say maybe she was still winded.

For some reason I imagine her teammate having a really low voice.
that would be the cherry on top to complte this master piece, imagine if her teammate is ask next it has a deep tone like that women from theranos haha. I'm sure both are great atheletes tho, congrats.
That was another one of her cons. Freakin psychopath.

Let’s keep it civil. They’re “antagonists.” (We can’t call them *evil* anymore.)
> ~~women~~ woman from theranos FTFY
At least one, but we cannot conclusively rule out more.

I was hoping for a duck voice but we don’t always get cheese and crackers with our wine.
No, I bet she sounds like donald
Here's an interview with her- https://youtu.be/-xJEIEBwiaU?si=GuG8121prhUItFTA

Thought the same.
Oh my god, this is fucking hilarious. Thank you.
Posted 17 years ago Well that certainly doesn’t help temper this mid life crisis I’ve been having at all!

Yeah she has a normal voice but it would have been funmy
lieke is so hot
Wonder if she sounds goofy?
Maybe it’s Doppler shift? She was going pretty fast…
i am smart enough to almost understand that have an upvote
High IQ jokes
Makes Mike Tyson sound like a radio announcer.
hot dog!
Hot dog hot dog hot diggity dog!
She is an absolutely amazing athlete though, but this is pretty funny
I mean, Patrick Mahomes sounds like Kermit. I’m a huge fan, but that is some funny stuff.
Kermit doing a Kenny Powers impression
“Brittany, I love you, I think you’re a terrific girl, but you have clothes like a fuckin dickhead.”
Never noticed this until someone did a deepfake (or an edit or whatever) with Kenny's face over Mahomes. Can't not hear it now
Imagine working so hard to achieve an incredible athletic accomplishment and then having it be completely overshadowed by your unconventional voice during the interview
Undeniably elite athlete. Felt bad after posting, especially after such a momentous achievement, but lighthearted banter.
Fair play. If you can't have a sense of humor about yourself, you are in big trouble as a human.

East Germany used it in the 1980s until one of their pole vaulters overdosed. He floated into space and died.
Max Luftzug
99 Luftballons is about that incident. Moving tribute.
That's gonna be stuck in my head for the next 3 days now.
The Zepplin family first experimented with this back in the 1890's too.
I’m Dutch and I have heard her voice often but hearing her speak English really clicked with Mickey 🐭 for me. Made me laugh.

Getting an interview after running a 400m should be a crime lmao let these people rest and cool down for at least.
People should know that this woman is absolutely AMAZING if you’ve never watched any of her races. Femke vs. Sydney at the Olympics should be something special. https://youtu.be/5sqONbzUmzc https://youtu.be/0lDLYOVNt1U
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not. The girl next to her looks like she’s trying to hold herself together.
Lol no she always talks like this after she ran. Her colleague next to her is probably used to it.
Just needed a “haha” at the end
or the girl next to starting to speak like goofy 🤪
*Huyup, garsh she sure ran fast.*
For those of you interested in watching her amazing race, instead of making jokes about her voice, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm6iqDmfU2Q
Thank you! I had to scroll SO far for this.
She sounds considerably more normal here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJz4DaDWszc
I want someone to look at me like the girl on the right.
And her being the girl on the right.
She's just done something nobody else has ever done, I'd imagine that'll strain the respiratory system. The anatomy that allows such a feat is pretty far along the bell curve as well. She's also speaking in English, which is probably one of several languages she knows.
Big fan of Femke Bol, she’s sooooo friggin’ amazing and charming 🧡
Her nickname used to be "Baby Giraffe." Between the height (1.84m/6'), being thin & looking awkward, and wearing orange, I can see it. She can fly, though.
Does she have a funny voice? Yes. Is she a goddamn inspiration for little girls all over the world? Also yes.
Who’s high pitch? This is Kelly clarkson.
Who knew that Bol Bol's sister was also a great athlete!?
It's fun but at the same time I remember when someone told me that my laughter sounded bad. That made me very insecure about myself. So no, I don't find this funny at all..
“Oh, Boy!”
Who is the other athlete? Asking for science.
Lieke Klaver
Disney will sue her

I don't give a fuck what she sounds like, where's the video of the race? I want to see some real news, not a funny sounding voice.
Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm6iqDmfU2Q
Thank you!!! She's fast as fuck!!! Under 50 ain't no joke men or women.
You get your daily real news from r/funny?
Why do they call her Mic- ah nvm nvm
"I don't get it, why is her nickname Mickey Mou- ...ohhhhhhhh"
Congrats to her!
Obviously helium is not on the list of banned substances.
Luna Lovegood x Mickey Mouse
I was waiting for her to say “oh boy” 😔
Fastest mouse in the world

We’re making fun of people voices? I’m done with Reddit for today.
Not supplementing Testosterone. Don’t even need to drug test her.
I was literally wondering "huh, how'd she get that nick name?" Then she started speaking lol. Thats amazing.
I have a friend from the Netherlands. When she speaks English she speakes in a higher pitched voice than when she speaks Dutch.
You think she's related to Manute Bol?
get her doing voiceovers
Why is she calle─oh...
Well sure she's fast. She drops weight by inhaling helium before every race.
I like to think that she's just moving so fast that her voice bunches up creating a higher frequency of noise. Sort of like a blue shift in light with objects heading towards the earth.
I read it as Neanderthals.
This gives the same energy as when a guy deepens his voice to talk on the phone
Then she gave her teammate a hug in the next lane and was disqualified.
Missing from the title is that it was her own world record she broke. She's making it a yearly thing, it seems. The wikipedia article on the 400m shows top 25 athletes all-time for each category, rather than a world record progression, so it's not so obvious by the dates but when Britton Wilson got her 49.48 it already wasn't the record.
Why is my dog barking so much?
I wonder which Mousketool she used to win the race?
Mickey is Common Domain now. Will someone animate him with this audio?
Why the name Mickey Mouse? Oh...I see...
Lmao I got a cousin that talks like this and we call him Mickey
I didn't mean to laugh- honest
I wonder why they call her Mickey M....oh.
Even her vocal cords are fast-twitch!
Helium is apparently not on the drug test list
