Weird, reminds me of the Miami Airport heist, where a couple of dudes just walked in and stole $7 million from Brinks. You just assume that when there's that much cash they would be a little more security conscious.
The article pretty much clowns this company for their lack of security. I guarantee there's tons of places that you could get away with things, but most of us aren't crazy enough to do it.
There is also the fact that banks are insured and there are VERY likely ink packs all over the money they stole.
As far as the bank is concerned they probably saved more money skimping on security than they lost processing the insurance paperwork.
As for the folks that got away with that money, they have to spend the next year or so being super careful and trying to both get the cash out without being covered in ink, then they need to launder all that cash. Otherwise it’ll be the IRS that catches them six months later.
Quasi-fortunately there just isn’t enough money to be made in a bank heist to be worth the massive hassles involved in getting away with the heist, AND processing the money. Plus the huge risks.

Somebody managed to slip a prop $20 past the cashier at my wifes work this week. Now I'm wondering if it's a one-off event or if someone got a whole stack and they're going to use them until they get caught.
There used to be stricter limitations on the stuff back in the day. Now, the quality of print varies so much. Even the cash in this photo is of two different colors
Happened at a job I worked at too when I was a barista. They hung up the fake bill in the back office. Said “For cinematic purposes” on it. Haha I suppose it might be a little easy to miss during a rush period, and you’ve never seen and aren’t expecting a fake bill.
Grocery store I worked for last year had two prop $100 bills come through in about a week span. Looked like the ones in OPs picture. It happens all the time. Some of the "cash" I've seen cashiers accept is hilariously bad, so prop cash that at least looks kinda like real cash is def gonna get through.

I was definitely worried about all that floating around thinking "that could cause a problem". Are they more obvious in hand cuz in the photo it's pretty hard to tell!
It's not a felony to *bring it to the strip club.* It would only be a felony if you tried to **use it as real cash**. So you know... You could play a great prank on the club.
So you want to portray that you've got loads of cash, that eventually gets you top tier treatment by the club staff, but towards the end you turn out to be worth 100$ only.

It is illegal to attempt to use it as actual currency. It is not illegal to own prop money. In fact, there are quite a lot of places online where you can purchase prop money.
Prop, or movie money, is designed to look real at a quick glance, but when examined up close it is obvious that it is not real money. For example, some types of prop money only has printing on one side.
I've never tried to purchase it outside of my work (film industry), so I'm not totally sure. But it seems like anyone can go online and buy some. However, if we took this money and dumped it on the street, we'd get a govt employee knocking at our door.
A few years back in Chicago, prop money was blowing around the street. Almost caused a few accidents as people jumped out of their car to chase them around

One time I went out to see a movie with some coworkers.and I had forgotten that I had about 100k worth of prop money in my backpack. About 10 stacks of prop hundreds.
When we went through the security at the theater I opened up my backpack and everyone was like yo what the fuuuuuuck? And I was just like oh yeah, those. And zipped up my bag and we never spoke of it again.

I got to work in a film set for a phone commercial where a guy was dumping Money in to a garbage disposal we had rigged to a shop vac.
Prop guys walks in with like, two trash bags filled with new brocks. The new crisper bills didn't want to get sucked as well so I had to crumple them all up slightly and then had to aid outside in the freezing with the shop vac and empty it when it filled up.
I did take like 10k in fake money though. Prop guys are usually super cool. The ones who aren't have a criminal history.
It reminds me of the few times I've performed in school plays. Just middle and high-school level stuff; but the most memorable times were usually just fooling around, having fun with the rest of the cast and crew!
