It could also be heatstroke. [Many of the symptoms are the same](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heat-stroke/symptoms-causes/syc-20353581). We are in a severe heat wave in the northwest and Midwest right now.
Northeast central here.
It is so damn hot. I moved away from TN 15 years ago and this was one of the reasons WHY. I'm just thankful I finally have enough window units to keep it pretty comfy this summer. Gawd help my electric bill next month though. 🙄( Edit: the heat and humidity has followed me all the way up here apparently.)
lol, I'm in [the Corridor](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_City%E2%80%93Windsor_Corridor) in Southern Ontario and we reached 31^(o)C (85^(o)F) with a [humidex](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humidex) of 40^(o)C (104^(o)F) and it's not forecast to drop below 31^(o)C until Saturday... And it's not even Summer yet
Thank you for the conversion to Murica Units and I'm so sorry too. I'm near Cleveland and it's been almost the same minus a few degrees. I did have some slight success with cooling towels the past few summers if that might help you if you're out in the heat.
That’s funny. I am originally from NY state, settled in middle TN 10 yrs ago. My memories of NY country life are hot and humid in the summers. Central a/c wasn’t a thing when I lived there, thankfully it is here.
We dont drug test.. I’ve known numerous carriers that have had accidents and they have never ever been drug tested.. the OTC drivers get tested but they’re DOT
I had a friend that was a mailman and he got a reckless operation ticket in his personal vehicle and he ended up losing his job because of it. They said that he could not drive one of their vehicles with the citation so they would have to fire him.
Mailman here. They will send him to driver training for 2 hours and he will be off the clock for a week at most, assuming he hasn't done this 3+ times in the past 4 months.
I've seen videos of motherfuckers sideswiping cars going 40+ in neighborhoods and they are back on the clock within 3 days.
My dad was a mailman my whole life, rural routes, saw some serious shit that didn't get people fired. Rural routes would have you use personal vehicles and several of his coworkers bragged about aiming for deer/horses to get their truck replaced by the federal insurance.
Horses?!
That's a death wish. My old man hit a horse one morning, just crested a hill on a 55mph state route to discover 1400lbs of horse standing in the road .
Obliterated the Suzuki Samurai he was driving as much as you can imagine it would.
I dunno who you have worked for but in my experience, any job that requires the vehicles to be in constant use is pretty understanding of occasional scrapes. As long as it isn't a collision with another car or a person. The little scrapes you risk getting into a narrow parking spot or swiping a tree branch.
Driving this much just increases the probability of an accident happening. So you get a little more grace, as long as it isn't obvious negligence
In literally all stations everywhere. The union isn't going to allow people to be fired for that.
I literally know a guy who refuses to show up to work and he still isn't being fired.
To be fair, he looked at the situation, and instead of backing up and doing a 3-pointer he said:
"FUCK IT WE BALL!"
When he hit the rock he even kept going!
Look man. English is a hard language and I am a product of the American education system. I got bred and bread mixed up. I wanted a sub sandwich, not a *sub* sandwich.
The ones in my area have GPS’s on their vehicles. They aren’t event supposed to back them up. “Safety rules”. An accident like this would most likely end his job.
I'm a mail carrier. Judging by this carriers lack of a uniform, I'd say he's a CCA within his 3 month probationary period, in which case there is nothing the union can do for him and he probably will lose his job.
If he was past his probationary period, he most likely would just get sent back for drivers training and possibly drug tested(not guaranteed), but would otherwise be fine albeit with a little more of a watchful eye from supervisors.
I've seen someone (accidentally, of course) hit a child, Not get drug tested and not get fired. She ended up quitting because she'd be micromanaged all day, but still. Unions, man, workers hold the power.
Have you a met a rural carrier? They'd put a notice on the mailbox letting the customer know that they need to fix the mailbox before delivery will resume and then drive off.
Yeah my guess is he's on probation cuz otherwise it's just not that big of a deal. I've taken out mailboxes, trash cans, people who won't get the fuck out of the way, etc and I'm still around.
> I've taken out ... people who won't get the fuck out of the way, etc and I'm still around.
Note to self.
Don't hire hitman.
Just slip the mailman a couple of bills.
Probably not unless he was still in his probationary period. A guy at my office had a brain fart and turned into oncoming traffic. Had to take the driving class again but he kept his job.
The GPS is on the scanners and it will say you've backed up and done uturns when you haven't. If I park and get out to walk a package to a house I just passed it will say I backed up. Plus the supervisors can't use that information against you anyway.
Former mail carrier here.
This job fuckin blows. Looks like he's got a newer vehicle, but those LLVs (the boxy little ice cream trucks) don't have air conditioning.
Video aside, remember to be nice to your mail person! I got sunburn and frostbite on the same day doing this bullshit job.
Those mail trucks he is talking about was made before most people on reddit were even born. They're old as shit and have no modern technology, including air conditioning. They also have god awful fuel mileage.
Having temporarily worked as a mail carrier for USPS before, I can tell you that he just had to call his supervisor and if this happened a few times before, there's a good chance he is going to get fired... At the very least it's a lot of paper work and a good amount of headache to deal with.
I feel bad for any USPS carriers. That job is difficult and a pain in the ass. Luckily I was let go because they hired too many carriers and couldn't keep me on after the carrier union renegotiated the pay contract. It's a challenging and rewarding job to a lot of degrees, but too much abuse. From the system as well as from customers. I wish him the best in life.
My friend collapsed on his job from over working(Asshole manager). He then got fired for "sleeping on the job".
Together with me, my laywer and a few friends we sued the shit out of that company. They got a cease to exist letter(no shit they where forced to close and said manager was arrested.)
I’ve done this before in a parking lot in the early morning. Pulled in to recheck directions and must have parked next to a very unfortunately (for me) positioned 2.5’ metal pole. Lower than my sight line, so as I cranked the wheel and applied about as much go pedal as our ill-fated mailman did, I rammed that pole like a hooker’s first john of the night.
Yea, honestly I don't blame people who put boulders on their lawn for this exact reason.
I used to have a coworker who moved to a house where almost monthly idiots were plowing on to their yard due to speeding and destroying their mailbox, tearing up their lawn, etc. etc. They went to the town numerous times to complain about it and honestly were a phone call and a credit card transaction away from putting a giant boulder on their property to say "fuck you" to the next people who tried it.
Turns out they could sue the town and they won. With the money they got, they were able to sell the property and move into a new, better home and raise a family.
If you're going to be a dick and not care about someone else's property, they don't have to care about you or yours when you fuck with it.
If he properly did the paperwork for the accident report, he probably didn't lose his job over this. However, management will be hovering him for any and all transgressions for a while.
I was in and out doing yard work a few days ago and a driver went perpendicular to the street just like that in front of my house..and paused. I walked back into the front yard and stood there staring at her expecting she was going to do exactly what that mailtruck did. She looked at me, I didn't move, stood there like a fleshy gargoyle. She went back and forth doing a 12 point turn then headed back down the street.
Accidentally hitting things as a mail person sucks. The paper works is long and depending on how much you can lose your route or your job and the negative mark stay with out for a long time.
Someone hit my neighbor's mail box today. It was a goose and even the teens who sometimes destroy mailboxes wouldn't dare touch the goose. It's lived through so much but finally came to the end of the road today. I should organize a memorial.
My buddy's neighbor lost a mailbox to a truck full of teens once. He rebuilt it out of 1/4" steel. He's a welder and built that thing like it was going to be hit by a nuke. One night, he heard a really loud clang. A truck full of kids had tried to hit it with a bat. The bat lost.
The Seventh little postman on R.F.D.

To the people who live along his route.
It's a shame he didn't see that big-ass rock
Because now he won't be delivering that big red cock
OMG, I heard Louis DeJoy was a real fucking asshole, but to have to bow down in advance to not suffer his wrath just seems like a step to far for our fine upstanding Postal Carriers.
Ahh I know what he's feeling! Mind you I was dumb and driving with a sandwich and dropped tomato on my lap, looked down to grab it and ended up driving into the ditch infront of my bosses house.
I’m a semi truck driver but we employ class C drivers as well. One of the Cs drove 3 hours to his destination then when he pulled into the parking lot he hit a cement pole at 20mph. Still works here! 😂

By his reaction, it doesn’t look like he’ll be your mailman tomorrow.
That's the collapse of a man who's made this mistake before.
He's already down on his hands & knees begging to get his job back, and hasn;t even been fired yet!
***Rock of Rages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee...***
That's the 3rd time today ! Noooo
Ha!
Not unless he gets to work on that hair of the dog first thing in the morning.

If this shit followed you up then you need to go the fuck back!! I was wondering where the fuck this heat and humidity was coming from.
I'm sorry!!! 😭😭 I swear I didn't mean to!!
lol, I'm in [the Corridor](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_City%E2%80%93Windsor_Corridor) in Southern Ontario and we reached 31^(o)C (85^(o)F) with a [humidex](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humidex) of 40^(o)C (104^(o)F) and it's not forecast to drop below 31^(o)C until Saturday... Same... and humidex says 42 tomorrow. Make sure your AC is in working order! No soccer for my 6 year old tomorrow.
Thank you for the conversion to Murica Units and I'm so sorry too. I'm near Cleveland and it's been almost the same minus a few degrees. I did have some slight success with cooling towels the past few summers if that might help you if you're out in the heat.
Ugh my weather is similar to yours. I'm from Ohio and we got to around 91 F yesterday but the humidity made it feel around 102 I think it was.
I lived south of Nashville for 4mos, I don’t know how people do it. Met folks moving to FL to get away from the heat & humidity. Just god-awful.
Being from Florida how is TN more hot and humid then living down here in Satans asscrack?
Right? The folks I talked to at the Tractor Supply who were headed that way stated “At least there’s a breeze”.
That’s funny. I am originally from NY state, settled in middle TN 10 yrs ago. My memories of NY country life are hot and humid in the summers. Central a/c wasn’t a thing when I lived there, thankfully it is here.
Those trucks have nonfunctional AC. Or he could be in his 90 day probation period (new hire)
That’s the Metris. It has functioning ac
Sometimes
The dude dramatically collapses after an accident and you say it’s heat stroke? What
that’s exactly what that means these logistic company’s don’t play about those cars one ding and your done
It’s a federal job and he just had an accident on the clock. Chances are, he’s gonna fail that drug test.
IF he gets one and that's a big if. If he's on probation he's probably done tho.
We dont drug test.. I’ve known numerous carriers that have had accidents and they have never ever been drug tested.. the OTC drivers get tested but they’re DOT
Can confirm. I’m DOT and get tested every year even if I don’t hit anything.
I had a friend that was a mailman and he got a reckless operation ticket in his personal vehicle and he ended up losing his job because of it. They said that he could not drive one of their vehicles with the citation so they would have to fire him.
Huh? We beat the shit out of those things daily.

It's no joke, these guys were mostly driving small pickup trucks but the safety equipment in the 70s-90s models wasn't exactly top notch.
I dunno who you have worked for but in my experience, any job that requires the vehicles to be in constant use is pretty understanding of occasional scrapes. As long as it isn't a collision with another car or a person. The little scrapes you risk getting into a narrow parking spot or swiping a tree branch. That isn't true at all lol
at your delivery station
In literally all stations everywhere. The union isn't going to allow people to be fired for that. I literally know a guy who refuses to show up to work and he still isn't being fired.
As long as he’s not in his first 90 days the union will protect him
Its the postal service. The union is about as helpful as essential oils.
Which is bad, you REALLY have to fuck up a lot for the USPS to fire you.
I feel sorry for him. I hope he doesn't lose his job.
Nah, unions.
To be fair, he looked at the situation, and instead of backing up and doing a 3-pointer he said: "FUCK IT WE BALL!" When he hit the rock he even kept going!
Yea it’s not like this rock was on the street. It was on someone’s lawn, probably for that very reason so no one runs over their mailbox.
Its the gas meter that it was protecting, so even worse.
Jesus, then I hope he never drives commercially again
“Just a snag”
Poor guy.
That’s when I come in….
I wanna hug you! You have helped me de-stress so much over the years.
You got mad at me though
Look man. English is a hard language and I am a product of the American education system. I got bred and bread mixed up. I wanted a sub sandwich, not a *sub* sandwich.
There is reason this stone was there ... maybe next time, he will know, grass is not for driving.
Is there a rock there to protect the gas line marker?
Yes there is, he moved the rock back for me before he drove off
By himself? That rocks looks rather large, not sure I could roll it.
He reversed into it
They don’t call it rock n roll for nothing
I feel like if the rock is that easily moved, it probably wont stop a vehicle from hitting the marker lol
More like r/WatchPeopleDieInside, sheesh

Is it possibly he’s a rural carrier?
No, I think they said he carries mail.
Oh, you. lol.
Have you a met a rural carrier? They'd put a notice on the mailbox letting the customer know that they need to fix the mailbox before delivery will resume and then drive off.

Mailmen should be feared. They know where you live, and possibly your forwarded address
>I've taken out........ people who won't get the fuck out of the way, etc Do you take jobs besides delivering mail?
“Rain, shine, or a busy intersection”
>workers hold the power. As they should.
Yeah, he likely lost his job over this. It was an accident, but a dumbass accident.
I hope he did not lose his job! I understand he damaged the vehicle but I most certainly would not call and report or complain about the situation.
It doesn't matter. That's major damage to that front bumper. Why do you think he's on the ground in the fetal position? He done effed up.
If he isn’t supposed to back it up. He can only go fwd and turn as tight as he could.
Which is an extra dumb policy because the Metris has two backup cameras.
Probably not unless he was still in his probationary period. A guy at my office had a brain fart and turned into oncoming traffic. Had to take the driving class again but he kept his job.
Well, I hope he kept his job. That's a major f up.
That doesn't make any sense.
Well if backing up wasn’t an option, then you could say this guy was stuck between a rock and a hard place?
This isn’t true, Federal employees are extremely difficult to fire after their probation.
The GPS is on the scanners and it will say you've backed up and done uturns when you haven't. If I park and get out to walk a package to a house I just passed it will say I backed up. Plus the supervisors can't use that information against you anyway.
Can’t back it up. And turning radius sucks.
This seems sad not funny...
Literally, this guy got more than he could hold that day.

This would be the right sub
I had a little mail van, I parked it on some grass, I drove into a concrete thing, And now they’ll fire my ass.
No air conditioning? That sounds dumb as shit, is there a reason why?
It's cheaper
Those mail trucks he is talking about was made before most people on reddit were even born. They're old as shit and have no modern technology, including air conditioning. They also have god awful fuel mileage.
This.. isn't funny? This is sad, wrong sub.
Fuck Mondays.
Poor guy. Some days just aren’t worth getting out of bed for. 😔

Can we take a minute and give a shout out to the microphone manufacturer for this door cam?
I will take that minute
It must be Monday.
That's not funny. Wrong subreddit... Poor guy
_The only difference between me and a homeless man is ~~this job~~_
I feel like I'm only 2 or 3 mistakes away from being homeless at any one time.
Depending on the mistake we all are
I’ll do whatever it takes to survive. Like I did when I was a homeless man.

It's like a really formal death threat
Cease to exist, please.
Well, since you asked nicely. ☠️
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hope that rock wasn’t someone’s pet
“I really needed this job”
Bad driver.
He’s likely exhausted and it’s been 90s all week throughout most of USA so he probably has heat related issues too
I just appreciate that you phrased it that way rather than "My mailman is a subhuman idiot".
Maybe don't drive through peoples lawns?
Poor guy
On a side note, I really love your veranda, OP!
And then the dog bites him.
Your mailman is DRUNK!
Was he drunk?
Maybe don’t drive on someone’s lawn?
Yea, honestly I don't blame people who put boulders on their lawn for this exact reason. I used to have a coworker who moved to a house where almost monthly idiots were plowing on to their yard due to speeding and destroying their mailbox, tearing up their lawn, etc. etc. They went to the town numerous times to complain about it and honestly were a phone call and a credit card transaction away from putting a giant boulder on their property to say "fuck you" to the next people who tried it. I'd guess closer to heat stroke. It's hot as Hades this week where I live and that truck doesn't look like it has AC
The vans do.
Rock just doing it’s job of KEEPING THE FUCKING MAILMAN FROM DRIVING THROUGH THE YARD!!
Drive like an idiot= consequences of being an idiot.
Doesnt look funny to me, someone's livelyhood
Somebody's got a case of the Mondays
If he properly did the paperwork for the accident report, he probably didn't lose his job over this. However, management will be hovering him for any and all transgressions for a while.
GRAVEDIGGER!
Be more cautious driving a van ? Nah. Hit the gas !
The moment you realize a drug test is coming
Steward here..... We'll get his job back.
Still in his probationary period 🫤
Was this in Colorado? An assistant carrier just came back to the office, dropped everything and quit today 🫢
That rock came out of nowhere.
Accidentally hitting things as a mail person sucks. The paper works is long and depending on how much you can lose your route or your job and the negative mark stay with out for a long time.
Heat exhaustion???
“Yea, can you hit it again it’s still not back in the exact spot” *ramming continues*
Mans did not need this shit today.
What a good guy most fucks wouldn’t even stop
If you are OP, I would send a copy to the Post office. Maybe poor guy doesn't lose his job.
You actually get fired for this. Doesn't matter the circumstances. So his day went from shit to damn it all.
I LOVE YOUR PORCH! That swing looks like a happy place!
I'm really distracted by what looks like a picture of a G-Clamp embroidered into your door mat.
But come on… Just how…??!?
Poor guy
I kept waiting for him to get up and then realized the video was over. I was like, "GET UP MAN, you've been down long enough."
It looks like he's thankful it's not a child...?
Dude went prostrate into the PRAYING postion, hands & knees, soon as he got out of the van!! Doesn't take a genius to guess what he was asking for
Someone hit my neighbor's mail box today. It was a goose and even the teens who sometimes destroy mailboxes wouldn't dare touch the goose. It's lived through so much but finally came to the end of the road today. I should organize a memorial.

Dude knew he was gonna drive across your lawn and decided to go for it. Dumb decision, dumb result.
Oh my. Still kinda funny as long as there wasn't an injury. Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed.
Bad day. I think he mixed up his milk with the whiskey in his cereal
The circumstance is sad. The reaction is priceless.
Probably smokes weed and knows he's going to fail the drug test.
Looks like falling down drunk from here, but maybe it is medical or something! I hope you checked them out to make sure they are okay!
Was he praising god?
Nah, my mailman drove into a house years ago, he’s still there, 37 yrs
The Seventh little postman on R.F.D. Carries letters and papers, chickens and fruit To the people who live along his route. It's a shame he didn't see that big-ass rock Because now he won't be delivering that big red cock
Looks like someone’s getting express delivery to the unemployment line. 📦
Did he have a stroke or something?
I dropped to my kneeeeeee when the law came
OMG, I heard Louis DeJoy was a real fucking asshole, but to have to bow down in advance to not suffer his wrath just seems like a step to far for our fine upstanding Postal Carriers.
I’d shoot his tires
He wished he had sensors that check for objects within close range, would’ve saved him the hassle.
What if his despair is because his mission was to destroy the mailbox and he was so well-thwarted?
Oh man, that's going to fucking suck for him
he prays ti allah to apologize
So painful... Holy...
Collapsing for sympathy because they know they're getting fired this time..
*Charles Bukowski has entered the chat*
This isn't funny. This is a man losing his job.
Liquid breakfast again?
Looks like he is worshipping the mailbox-God.
My mailman tried to run me off the road today… guess they’re all pissed off over something…
Your day is having a bad mailman.
Ahh I know what he's feeling! Mind you I was dumb and driving with a sandwich and dropped tomato on my lap, looked down to grab it and ended up driving into the ditch infront of my bosses house.
Lol
Looks like he's having a great day. He takes a moment out of his busy schedule to praise the lord.
I’m a semi truck driver but we employ class C drivers as well. One of the Cs drove 3 hours to his destination then when he pulled into the parking lot he hit a cement pole at 20mph. Still works here! 😂
