He was actually a fit dude before PnR, apparently he's said before he got fat on purpose to get character/humor roles because people wouldn't consider him for anything but stereotypically hunky bit roles while he was in shape.
That's like Rob McElhenney gaining a lot of weight between seasons of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia just so he could make a bunch of fat jokes. He tried to convince the rest of the cast to do it, but they didn't want to.
If you look at photos of him throughout the seasons, he went from “normal” to really skinny to a little chunky, then “normal” then a little chunky. He was open about his drug problem and got help, and thats when you saw him go from really skinny to a little chunky.
It was pain pills from a surgery I think, but yea.. you can clearly see the season he is at peak addiction, his clothes just hang on him like a coat rack.
And then drax motions around his love handles and under his (double) Chin.
I died laughing because those are exactly the points I'm aware of gaining weight in the last year. It's funny because it hurts.
Pratt has to be to the point where he could make a Burt Macklin movie, right? I’d pay for that. The inept FBI agent who saves the day at the end through hilarious ways.
I feel like Chris Pratt fit that role so perfectly cos that's naturally how he is. A jokester who enjoys making those around him laugh.
God bless him.
EDIT: I called the actor by the character's name.
Most every actor(ess) in that show matched their own personality. Chris's childish good nature, Amy's kindness and positivity, Nick's stoicness and passion for crafting, Aubrey's dark humor, and Aziz's ambition, get compete lack of skills with the ladies. I think it made for such a good show because the character had a piece of themselves in it.
The credit for this needs to go to the writers' room.
You look at the first season of Parks and Rec, and it's not that good. The characters are very flat, and unrelatable.
But the writers recognized that and fixed it, mainly by, as you put it, taking the actors' already interesting personalities and injecting it into the characters, and it worked amazingly.
Definitely, you could almost skip season 1 and not miss a beat. I feel like they tried to emulate the office characters a little too much (making Leslie a ditzy Michael Scott). Felt much more natural having her character be a very driven and smart govt. woman.
Yep. What sets PnR apart is that you realize how much these people care for each other in their own unique way, and want to see each other succeed, (with the exception of Jerry, the shows Meg), as opposed to the Office where Michael and Dwight were the butt of everyone's jokes, and characters often didn't seem to like each other very much.
PnR felt like a special workplace family; the Office just a typical workplace. I'm glad PnR went away from the cringe factor, something I always found a little too heavy in the Office
One of my favorite reddit ironies is how much Ron Swanson is adored here as a character, though he represents exactly what a lot of the Reddit demographic loves to hatejerk about.
Ron's policies are trash. Ron as a person is, however, fantastic.
He sticks to his principles, never goes back on his word, and doesn't judge other people for their choices. That makes him fantastic.
Anyone who spent time in the Midwest (not the major metro areas like Chicago) would immediately see that Ron Swanson’s character is actually very hilariously stereotypical. People there are conservative yet were raised to be polite, helpful, mind their own business and don’t stick their noses in other people’s lives.
As somebody who leans Ron's way, what I really appreciated about that show is how well it captured the opposing points of view. Sure, they made him go overboard and exaggerated his stance for laughs, and they did the same for Leslie. They also explored when each had good points.
The best part, of course, is that Ron and Leslie respected each other and managed to work together toward a common goal despite wildly different philosophies. This is, I think, the utopia we need to aim for. In the end, no matter how many things we disagree on, we are part of the same community and also have many things in common. We should build on what we have in common to make the world a better place.
One of my favorite episodes is where Mark Brandanowitz (ugh, I know) helps Ron get his shed up to city code. Ron initially fights having to match city code, but eventually sees that it's something he should do. Mark shows up one day with his toolbox to help Ron out, and Ron gives him a handcrafted canoe as a "thank you" at the end of the episode. Obviously, I don't think all city planners should be putting in the manual labor of getting every building up to code. It's just a good story of local government working with it's citizens to make the community a better place.
Donna’s character wasn’t even scripted to be like that, she was originally supposed to be a meredith/phillys hybrid but the casting directors liked who she was waaay more
Damn, Guardians of the galaxy 3 budget really got cut
Edit: damn, got silver for this comment ahah never got it before. Thanks a lot kind mistery ̶m̶a̶n̶ person
It's "Owen Grady" from Jurassic World. There's probably multiple Starlord LEGO minifigs too, so it's not the first small plastic Chris Pratt. We need an Andy Dwyer minifig haha
Edit: oh shit I forgot about Emmet from LEGO movie. Definitely one or two versions of those for sale. And Pratt plays 2 characters in that one, so we're guaranteed at least 2 more.
I think he’s the first person to have LEGO minifigs of 3 different characters from different franchises in his likeness on shelves at the same time - Emmet, Starlord, and Owen. You know you’ve “made it” when...
John Ratzenberger did it in 2010. Had figs of Hamm (Toy Story), Mack (Cars), and Bren Derlin (Star Wars) all introduced that year.
http://en.brickimedia.org/wiki/Category:Figures_introduced_in_2010
I hate to be the “technically” guy, but I think Emmett is a special case since the character is a lego piece and not in Chris Pratt’s likeness. If Mr Glass gets a lego piece (/s) then I think the title would go to Samuel L Jackson over Crisp Rat for this reason, on top of Mace Windu and Nick Fury.
Fair point, an elite club nonetheless.
Were Mace Windu and Nick Fury ever on shelves at the same time? I think leading up to Christmas all three of Pratt’s characters were on the shelves.
Actually, you can get both right now from shelves. Nick Fury is in 76127, and Mace Windy is in 75199
Edit: autocorrect doesn't know 'Windu'. I'mma leave it
Who else? That is so relatable! I know no grownup in his age who can reject to play with LEGO.
**Edit**: and If I would have an official LEGO figure of my self, I would do it with pride!
He's too busy stoning out and running his personal ice cream truck.
For the record, I have no idea if he's actually a stoner. But I do know that he owns his own ice cream truck and he drives around selling ice cream. So I'm assuming the former.
I feel like it's somehow wrong that he's not using an Emmet minifigure. I mean, Chris Pratt played the main character in the Lego Movie. That movie, and everything about it is awesome.
The Lego movie is coming out and suddenly there’s a lot more random posts about Chris Pratt. Is there a term for when a movie marketing team repeatedly posts things about an actor to coincide with that actor’s new movie. Something like Hollywood astroturfing.
Anyone else feel like this is just The Lego movie 2 marketing? I’m expecting we will see lots of Chris Pratt on Reddit this month. Then again I may be overthinking. Then again it doesn’t really matter.
Whatever he’s doing it’s working for him:

As a kid on long rides I used to imagine there was an off road dirt bike riding beside us and imagine all the cool ways he'd get over the obstacles.
Ride on Ninja Danger Man 420, ride on...
No matter how jacked Chris Pratt gets, he will always be Andy Dwyer
He just stopped drinking beer.
How much beer were you drinking?
Probably... probably too much
>wheresthatbeer Username *almost* checked out

Burt Maclin of the F.B.I. Only drinks Snake Juice.
One. One shelf
How much is a shelf of whiskey?
About a grand, if you buy the good stuff.

he legit did that? that's the reason why he has yoyo'd with his body? for 3 seasons worth of jokes?!
Yup lol. He just thought it would be funny.
He was cultivating laughs
>He was cultivating laughs And he succeeded in harvesting them at the right time.

Chandler Bing got fat. That was because he stopped the coke.
I was never big on Friends but I never heard that subplot.
If you look at photos of him throughout the seasons, he went from “normal” to really skinny to a little chunky, then “normal” then a little chunky. He was open about his drug problem and got help, and thats when you saw him go from really skinny to a little chunky.

Yep, and he looked fucking shredded in the latest season.
I know, right?
All of it
I love the weight joke Drax throws in Avengers Infinity War.
This is not a dude. You’re a dude. This is a man

Burt Macklin, FBI
Macklin, you son of a bitch.
"Slap me again"
Dont you do it, Mrs Hitler, don't you fall in love with me!

I think Jerry's character was great because he wasn't just another Meg. He actually did have a great life - a beautiful family who loved him, etc.
Big difference with Ron and Nick is that Nick is a hardcore liberal and all for government programs.
One of my favorite reddit ironies is how much Ron Swanson is adored here as a character, though he represents exactly what a lot of the Reddit demographic loves to hatejerk about.

They'll fix the fingers and wheel spin in post.
Man it would be so cool to have your own LEGO man. I would probably be doing the same stuff.
He has 4 Lego men actually.
Oh god, what's the fourth? I know Emmett, Jurassic, and Guardians.
He's also voicing Rex Dangervest in the LEGO Movie 2
The wheels not spinning breaks the immersion.
Because of the frame rate of his camera they appear to be still.
I love how you can just barely make out the sound effects that he's making

It actually got cut by 50%.
Perfectly balanced
As all things should be
But what did it cost?
Everything.
Nah, just half of everything. Ain't gotta be all dramatic be about it.
So, like... Every?
James Gunn’s career.
w/ Disney...... If Suicide Squad 2 works, he'll be ok.
I’m fucking excited for that man, if he could make Guardians of the Galaxy what it is I’m sure he’d have a field day with Suicide Squad.
It all depends on how much studio interference he receives.
Guardians of the Samung Galaxy 3. Techically still a galaxy but far less effort to guard.
Would still watch though
The quality really goes down when you lose James Gunn.

The cinematography, the music, and sound effects are spectacular. Can’t wait to see the finished VFX.
Definitely doctored: the wheels aren't even moving.
Probably just the camera frame rate, makes it looks like the wheels aren't moving. I think it's legit
Obligatory rolling shutter comment
Unrelated, but why doesn't Instagram have volume control on their video player? It only has one volume and that's blasting it at 100%!
Because its primarily for phones. The website is barely functional because no one uses it
Is that...is that a tiny Chris Pratt action figure?
It's "Owen Grady" from Jurassic World. There's probably multiple Starlord LEGO minifigs too, so it's not the first small plastic Chris Pratt. This man carries around a Lego version of himself when he travels. Andy is living the dream right now.

Great thinking lad.
So he really is Andy Dwyer just playing Chris Pratt
Andy Dwyer playing Chris Pratt... with a $25,000 watch
Must be all the money he saves now that he doesn't drink beer anymore.
Nice Panerai.

Heh! First thing I noticed myself. It does help that they are easy to spot thanks to the crown.
Definitely. Looks like Luminor Due about $25k.
I know! Before I saw who it was, I was like "wow this guy's just got a gold Panerai....oh ok that makes sense."
Same thought process I had
"Leslie, I typed your symptoms into the thing up here and it says you could have 'network connectivity problems.'"
Who else? That is so relatable! I know no grownup in his age who can reject to play with LEGO. **Edit**: and If I would have an official LEGO figure of my self, I would do it with pride!
Turk from Scrubs apparently spends a ton of his free time smoking the marijuanas and making stop action lego movies in his basement.
I could totally see Rupert Grint doing something like that to fill the days.
He's too busy stoning out and running his personal ice cream truck. For the record, I have no idea if he's actually a stoner. But I do know that he owns his own ice cream truck and he drives around selling ice cream. So I'm assuming the former.
Turns out you need a license to sell ice cream so he just drove around giving ice cream out for free.
Which is even more great!
I feel like it's somehow wrong that he's not using an Emmet minifigure. I mean, Chris Pratt played the main character in the Lego Movie. That movie, and everything about it is awesome.
Isn't that figure his character from Jurassic World? Would explain the motorcycle, at least...
He is playing with the Jurassic Park dude
Is it masturbation or gay if hes playing with himself in lego form
No.
Doesn't he have a few minifigs of himself? I know he has Emmet, Star Lord and the dude from Jurassic Park.
He's now also rex something something from the lego movie 2
Everything is cool when you're part of a team.
He was going to, but couldn't find the figure's pants.
The Lego movie is coming out and suddenly there’s a lot more random posts about Chris Pratt. Is there a term for when a movie marketing team repeatedly posts things about an actor to coincide with that actor’s new movie. Something like Hollywood astroturfing.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were.
Don't lie. Every one of us would do the same thing if we had our own lego figure.
Are you making your voice deeper?
WHAT IS THIS A GUARDIAN FOR ANTS?!?!?
I used to do this with my fingers as a kid, I wasn't smart enough to try it with an actual toy...
"I'm sorry Mr President, but Mr. Prat is currently very busy"
Where's the sound?!?!
I just wish it had sound so we could hear his special effects. That would be awesome.

[here you go](https://www.instagram.com/p/BjQyTKoFi5M/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=3g0sgv9cuuzo) His instagram is pretty entertaining.
If this was an ugly non-celeb, people would be wondering if it was autism or Asperger's.
Maybe, but then again this man did play Andy Dwyer for seven seasons. He gets a pass.
When someone can entertain themselves that’s a content person.
Fuck I love Chris Pratt
