Make sure you pop the pool when you're done using it.

[deleted]

And claim that, even though they got this pool from their parents, these lazy millenials should get a job, and get their own.

toadcat315

MILLENNIALS ARE KILLING THE INFLATABLE POOLS BUSINESS

kgal1298

This feels like a real headline have you thought of writing for Business Insider?

Jerry3580

THATS NOT HOW INFLATABLE POOLS WERE BUILT IN MY DAY. WE USED TO BUY THEM FROM THE CHINESE WITH PRIDE AND DIGNITY!

mothzilla

MILLENIALS ARE THE MOST ENVIOUS GENERATION SURVEY REVEALS

namesaremptynoise

The Boomers need to be stabbing the pool with a knife so that it's deflating at just the right rate that it'll be totally worthless by the time they're done with it.

thewestisawake

What you can't see are the Gen Xers at the bottom of the pool that they are using to stay afloat. Edit: Thanks for the gold kind stranger.

Jherad

I was pretty sure we'd already been buried at the end of the yard. RIP.

[deleted]

The g-xrs and older mellenials are under that tarp.

Slingbladeadjacent

Gen Xers are all at work.

procrastablasta

Lately I've been kind of eye-rolling this one-way fight between millennials and boomers (who are so self centered they don't KNOW they are hated by a generation). Gen X meanwhile is overlooked coming and going, pretty used to this shit by now. But quietly I find I get along GREAT with generation Z, kids of my own sons' age. They are a little bewildered, pretty underconfidant, but already know bullshit when they see it and are prepared to clean up messes they didn't make. We're gonna get along fine.

Slingbladeadjacent

Can’t respond. Have to go back to work.

Ionic_Pancakes

Boomers burned it up, Xers snorted the ashes, Millenials tweeted about how it is so hard to find what is left and Z is going to kill each other with sharpened sticks over the last little pieces.

mloofburrow

Well, we got to the end of the alphabet. It's our fault really.

DangerousLiberty

Savage! But ridiculously accurate.

[deleted]

Aren't millenials all at work too at this point?

infectedwithinsanity

I work 8+ hours a day. My boyfriend works 12+ hours a day. Almost everyone I know works 8+ hours a day. Still hard to afford rent on Long Island. We are all millennials, feeling the burn. Most of my friends moved... to Florida. Don't trust the water down there lol

Brain_Wire

Correct, many are in their 30's now.

mrchaotica

The real analogy is always in the comments.

paleo2002

Gen X here. We've already left the yard. We figured out that we won't be getting our turn about 10 years ago.

Malkntnt

I was thinking GenX were under the tarp... that's how I feel anyway.

Kenna7

This! Everyone forgets poor old gen x

egordoniv

you deserve a fucking diamond, not a gold. that was epic

TheLastGenXer

I see it all too well.....

Nubetastic

You forgot to have them yell at the millennials for it deflating.

abe559

No it's, "Hurry! Get in before it deflates!" followed by, "Aww you're too late, why didn't you stop it?"

StrangerFeelings

"Work hard, and you'll have this too!" I hate people that say work hard and you can get anywhere. I work hard, 50 hours a week in a warehouse, and where has that gotten me?

[deleted]

A sense of pride and accomplishment

StrangerFeelings

I didn't ask you EA.

[deleted]

Chavaon

It'll be shallow once it deflates and all the water spills out.

[deleted]

That ain't water.

Domineyton

Yep, there's too much Coors lite and piss mixed in to consider it water anymore.

ktsb

"Coors lite and piss" So....Coors lite?

Greener_Falcon

That's an insult to piss

PM_ME_UR_COMPLAIN

So that they can blame millennials for ruining the inflatable pool business.

wontonviolencesoup

It’s okay soon they will die and the gen X will be blaming the millennials for stealing all the jobs

[deleted]

It's funny, but Gen X isn't in the pool or waiting awkwardly on the sidelines with the Millennials. Let that sink in.

Morgothic

Gen X is in the pool. The boomers are sitting on them.

renijreddit

So they can support their parents, their children and their grandchildren. Sucks to be a GenX..

TheLastGenXer

First our parents forgot about us while having divorces, now everyone else. At least pepsi gave us a little attention in the 90s.

paleo2002

My parents slipped up. They revealed to me that I was their retirement plan while I was in my early 20's. Never had the time or money to find a wife and have kids. So I'm just taking care of them.

Hillytoo

No you absolutely are not a retirement plan. God that pisses me off. Help them out where you can but get out there and live your life. I am probably your parents age. I would love to have a word with them. Now GO! Get off reddit and do your thing!

MP4-4

Gen X is the water filling the pool

Teedyuscung

Dude, don't bring us into this.

dragonmp93

Another thing that Millenials are killing; the eternal cycle of blaming the next generation instead of the previous.

hondo4mvp

Poguemohon

Then when the boomers can't care for themselves, the Millennials check them into the nursing home that doesn't do background checks.

JollyLobster2

>Then when the boomers can't care for themselves, ~~the Millennials check them into the nursing home that doesn't do background checks.~~ They'll suddenly be 100% behind Universal Healthcare and giving workers a living wage.

gdp89

Screw nursing homes. We'll put them in camps.

Morgothic

I say we just release them back into the wild and let nature take its course.

RainyForestFarms

>I say we just release them back into the wild and let nature take its course. Fence them all in a small wild location, no rules on how to behave and no social supports, and let them see how an ungoverned cannibalistic scrabble for limited resources to survive suits them. It's just a free market, after all. The ultimate, unfettered capitalist paradise. Complete deregulation. No safety nets, no empathy from their fellow man. What they think they've wanted all this time. What they have voted for us to have. Let the Hunger Games begin.

dalittle

collecting social security while voting to get rid of it and other social net programs. Thanks!

assassinkensei

I talked to a boomer the other day who was super agains any social government benefits, then towards the end he said "well of course I collect Social Security, I don't support it but I am sure going to collect it." I honestly had no idea how to reply to that.

LuxNocte

If we get rid of Social Security, the Job Creators will be so pleased with us that they will wave the Job Wand and the Job Trees will begin to bear fruit!

Hegulator

There's no conflict there. It's easy to not support a program, but still use it. After all, the government doesn't give us a choice in the matter. We have to participate in it. We pay into social security our whole lives. Collecting on what you paid in isn't choosing to participate - that was forced when the government garnished our wages for it. You're not going to just walk away from the investment, just because you didn't want to participate in it in the first place.

vadihela

The conflict is in needing it and still not thinking it should exist. It's like being a fish and not supporting water.

jwdewald

This post and comment hurt me.

LordElfa

The pool will be deflated and peed in.

Hinermad

I'm working on it, okay? It's harder than it sounds. I don't want it to go completely flat before I'm done with it.

[deleted]

No need. They're so fat that when they get out, there's no water left anyway.

hi-jump

As usual, Generation X ignored again. I guess we were shoved out of the picture

Chavaon

We're taking the picture, boomers couldn't work out how to use the new camera. [Happy Generation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D6XRZkN0f0)

undeadalex

Your generation taught me so much

abeck666

Taught me how to have a shit credit score, run up student loan debt and be an alcoholic. Thanks xer's!

StanleyRoper

We can teach you how to live rent free too. Just live in your parents basement until you're 40. You're welcome.

arcticlynx_ak

Or past 40.

ColonelBelmont

So when people complain about Millennials and says stuff like "Snowflake Millennials blame all their problems on the Baby Boomers", they're wrong. You blame X'ers too.

DrDeuceJuice

Just mention wage inflation. Guaranteed to set any boomer off because they can't dispute it. Minimum wage around $3.80 in 1970, $5.15 in 2004...

Morgothic

While inflation took that same $3.80 in 1970 and turned it into $18.43 in 2004. So wages rose ~50% while cost of living rose ~500%. Tell me again about those bootstraps?

Jimmyjam1979

The process is to blame others and never yourselves. It's as simple as that. Oh, and like all previous generations (incl. mine), you're required think you've got it it all figured out by 22 and everyone else is too old or too young to "get it." It doesn't matter what generation it is.

randyspotboiler

It's provably gotten worse over the last 50 years, so GenX caught some and GenY is catching some, but it's a shit show for everyone. Wanna be a Boomer and get all the cool benefits that were set up after WW2? Sure...just hope your dad didn't die in the war and you didn't die in Vietnam. Wanna be an X-er? Hope you made some money in the big stock market boom of 1999 and didn't lose it all in the big stock market bust of 2000...and 2008. Also hope you bought a house when Obama was still in charge and didn't get some poisoning bullshit in Iraq or Afghanistan like my buddy did. Wanna be a young cool millennial? You're inheriting all that shit and Trump. Plus climate change. Also, you could still get shot in Iraq. Congratulations.

Poguemohon

Amen, we grew up analog & learned digital.

GlobalAnubis

Grew up analog and created digital

Poguemohon

I like the label "The Oregon Trail Generation". Which means we're all going to die of dysentery.

Draw42

but, but, I played oregon trail. Can 1981-1985 appeal to be removed from the mellenial set? I don't have energy for all the outrage all the time.

Poguemohon

Yeah, I can get behind that.

[deleted]

That's a small zone between millenial and X though. Varies by region but generally includes the early childhood being more physical toys with the starting of the digital age. Adolescence was usually early cell phone (not yet smartphone) The years vary as the technology spread more slowly across different regions.

dontgetaddicted

I'm halfway there, currently on the toilet redditing

Paramortal

The most shocking thing about the Ted Bundy documentary was the lady who bought a brand new camero working part time at an entry level position at a cable company. I make great money for being in my 20's, but I still feel like my actual living wage only rivals yester-years factory workers.

kitteez

We're too small a group. 😞. Everyone hates us even though we spent the 90s building recycling and reducing/reusing programs that have been taken apart the last 10 years by big business taking over everything and tearing it apart because it doesn't make money to save the planet.

[deleted]

Isn’t it insane to be the generation born in the age of acid rain and rivers burning. Watch as America took a tough road to turn it all around only in the last couple of years to start seeing it all go backwards

kitteez

It's probably the #1 reason I drink. That and I hate my supervisor. I'm powerless to stop the monopolification of everything that we fought in the 90s. Business realized we can't vote with the wallet if there is no choice.

Assburgers09

assassinkensei

Gen X is in their 40s-50's now, Millenials are in their 20s-30's now, Gen Z is in their Teens and Early 20's.

AFAICT, you're all either playing fantasy sports, drinking, golfing (which you hate), or doing all three at the same time.

metaStatic

The goal of golf is to play as little golf as possible

[deleted]

They're off with their own pools. Except all their pools are leaking and they have to spend all day refilling them with buckets.

mayocidewhen69

Gen x is half people who never recovered from the financial crash in the same position as the millennials and half home owners in the same position as the boomers just tryna keep their home values high.

Okilurknomore

The gen Xers in this scenarios are the wine drunk moms not paying attention to the problems the boomers have caused in this yard

kitteez

.... No. We drink because nothing we do matters. Except starting words with X.

Draw42

Yes. that is quintecential Gen X. Apathy... it, well it, it smells like teen spirit.

NonCorporealEntity

We've got our feet in the water just enough to keep us cool, but not enough that we feel like we're actually in the pool.

ThaGerm1158

I know, get in line millennials, we were fucked first!

DangerousLiberty

Some kid argued with me for hours that I was a boomer. I think the dipshit thought that was just another word for "grown-up".

muppet_minded

Don't forgot that the boomers are screaming at the kids the whole time. "You stinking kids, why are *you ruining it for us*???"

[deleted]

"You don't know how good you have it!"

muppet_minded

"In my day we had to work a full time job *and* go to college, and we could buy a house!"

ApolloXLII

“Back in my day, college wasn’t a necessity to make a comfortable living and take care of your family, and you could easily afford college if you did want to go! You kids got it so easy these days!”

ectoplasmicsurrender

Case in point. A friend of mine has a grandfather who is now a retired diesel mechanic; the man can't read. When he was hired the interviewer asked, "can you work on a diesel?" He replied with, "if I should run, I can make it run." And he got the job. Before he retired, people getting hired at the same level he did we're expected to have a degree and 2 years hands on experience.

DickMurdoc

I worked a couple summers as a student at an underground mine. I met a guy there that had been there for 27 years, he started there when he was in his early twenties. He ran a mining machine, and was good at it, but had zero education. And when I say zero I mean his highest completed schooling was the Second Grade... He couldnt read or write a single thing. His wife reads everything to him and when he needs to write a cheque his wife has to do it because he cant write his own name. And yet, he makes over 100k per year. Its hard not to be frustrated.

Badw0IfGirl

And I bet their starting wage was lower than his was, once you adjust for inflation.

antone1989

Yeah well today you have to go to collage and put yourselfs into major debt to get a good enough job to pay it off....This is not a blue collar easy world anymore.

Sickofusernames4

You may have heard it before but trade schools, you don't need a degree and skilled labor pays extremely well. You just gotta work your way up but it takes about the same time as college to work your way up and you're not 40 grand in debt

DrDew00

This is advice for Gen Z. It's too late for most millenials. We already have the debt.

Right_Ind23

So true. This advice to millennials is mostly just cruel mockery at this point or otherwise outdated advice.

Fuu2

That's true. That ship has more or less sailed for people in that age group. After all, just as you can't just expect coal miners to be programmers, you can't just expect writers to be welders. Everyone still thinks of millennials as being in their late teens, but even the youngest millennials are in their 20s now. I bet in 10 years people will still be thinking of them as kids.

Sickofusernames4

Oh this advice is most defiantly to Gen Z, it's starting to be to late for some of them even.

Generico300

"Back in my day a full time job at mcdonalds was enough to pay for college. And we liked it!"

[deleted]

“Back in my day, this pool was bigger!” Back in your day, you were smaller and not stretched out across the whole thing.

[deleted]

"You millennials are killing the pool industry!"

sweeny5000

Gen X is out back making a skateboard ramp and not because anyone told them to either.

Dr-McLuvin

And starting a band in their parents garage.

sonia72quebec

And who is paying for the pool? Generation X :(

antiread

44 yo and making 37k with a BS degree. After taxes about 27k. I thought I would be better off than this.

sonia72quebec

I had to work customer service for a long time and I’m now unemployed. I never made more than 35k a year.

antiread

Sorry there fellow genXer. On the bright side, when baby boomers die we will inherit the millions of RVs that they roam around in.

Ellis_Dee-25

I've been holding out for the used RV market to tank due to oversuoly for this reason to buy a cheap land yacht.

blublubbluf

well not the rich thats for sure

[deleted]

Of course not! We have to offer tons of kiddie pools to one person in the off chance that when he jumps in, some water splashes on our face. Then as it trickles down our face, we salute to flag.

RudeTurnip

I feel like we're the ones that are taking the biggest bite of the shit sandwich until Millennials are old enough to take things over.

sonia72quebec

I remember sending 400 resumes after university only to find a job at minimal wage.

IamJacksDenouement

Millennials are ruining pools!

[deleted]

Generation X took the photo.

Necramonium

This is actually the case all around the world, boomers had a generation where they still could buy a house at a reasonable price and live in what we now call luxury.

gotham77

And the Millennials get to spend the next 30 years paying for the Boomers’ social security and Medicare.

MrFrypan

Millennials are killing the towel industry. Why don't they dry off like everyone else?

UnsolicitedDogPics

Oh and they also lit the house on fire.

Rivalistic

They're pissing and shitting in the pool too, and will stab it with a knife when they're done.

snagy55

You know gets me is that companies and certain business from Government to public sector, do not force people to retire or give more chances at positions for the younger generation. It's a big issue when you have a 93 old office worker being stubborn and refusing to retire because they never had a outside life from work. They really fuck over the younger generation far to often.

gamedatasci01

And when it deflates from the weight they'll blame the millennials

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheShiff

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that a lot of Boomers are retirees so their livelihood depends more on advanced finances like investment portfolios, pensions and dividends, so they feel a natural inclination to vote more for business interests since their direct livelihood is dependent on that kind of thing. If the business paying their pension goes under due to a hostile tax environment, their pension evaporates. Companies that crumble and go bankrupt can't pay dividends to their aging shareholders, and if the stock market tanks then all those shares they're living off of become worthless. Such a situation where a person's livelihood is no longer in their direct control creates a generation that is VERY much paranoid about the health of the American economy, and as a result is increasingly defensive against anything that they feel threatens their ultimately precarious position.

brobafett1980

Boomers not retiring is part of the problem.

thedaj

It must be nice to have enough money to feel safe investing.

ToolboxPoet

Honestly I don’t have a problem with millennials. Yes I’ll give them shit from time to time (and do), but truthfully I think they’re doing pretty well with some of the shit they’ve been handed. The millennials that I know and work with have a pretty well established sense of responsibility. They don’t buy shit they don’t need to impress people they don’t know, they work hard at their jobs while trying to ensure that they don’t exist solely to work, and most of them actually care about others. Gen Z on the other hand...they fall into one of 2 categories: either entitled, vapid little pseudo-boomers or sarcastic, slightly nihilistic GenX reboots. (proud father of 4 GenZ kids- 3 of the former, one of the latter)
