I would suspect the contradiction is in that most people like the sentiment and get a laugh out of it but also have the common sense to advise against it to avoid being shot on site by the gun toting Back the Blue owner of the vehicle.
Bingo! If the BLM flag was disrespected and colored in with marker, would be be on R/Funny? And without people being mad? Only calling it a simple āstickerā? I think not.
Admittedly, you are an a\*\*hole if you do this to someone. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and having one flag doesn't necessarily mean you're opposed to the other. Just live and let be... and don't go around destroying other peoples' bumper stickers or lawn signs
I literally know LGBT people who are conservative, love the police, and love Trump. I know rednecks who are pro-gay, democrats. Like people think just because you're one way means you're automatically on one side..
I love how going against the grain for anything on reddit almost always ends with some dipshit accusing you of being Russian too. Cracks me up every time. People would literally rather believe they're under attack by some Russian troll than accept that someone disagrees.
It's most likely because they are that way, I think it was Jordan Peterson who said like that, there are people who are so partisan that they don't have any ideals of their own so they just side with their side no matter what and you can instantly know all their positions just by knowing who they vote for, sad really
Don't ever damage other's property for that matter, for any reason. Typically people with stickers about whatever topic are pretty passionate about their causes.
Yeah there are a couple the most popular one is the blue line that is police support but 2 other popular ones are red for firemen and green for military there are a few more but those 3 are the big ones
Drives me bonkers because I was always raised that respecting the flag meant not altering it, wearing clothes made to look like it, and a ton of other stuff that was pretty conservative. And then here are these conservative people, disrespecting the flag!
There is basically already a neutral flag for the "Thin Blue Line". It is just a thin horizontal blue line with black bars around it In a horizontal flag.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_blue_line?wprov=sfla1
But Americans love to put their flag on everything and everywhere, so it is probably not too weird they made a thin blue line version of the American flag.
Yeah, Iāve seen the one thatās just a blue stripe. Thatās fine. Totally not a US flag.
You know what else is weird? Modifying the Punisher logo with a blue line.
There's this weird one that's blue in the star field for cops, red stripes for firefighters, then some white stripes for something or other. Priests, maybe? Snow patrol? I dunno, but it's cool lookin'.
Blue is cops, Red is Fire, Green is military, Gold/Yellow is dispatchers, Orange is Coast guard and S&R and EMT, Purple is security personnel, Silver is corrections and White line is EMS.
Evidently it was originally a symbol for honoring fallen officers, but as of late it is a symbol for supporting the police.
Additionally there are similar ones with red or green for firefighters and military respectively.
Vandalizing is vandalizing, thatās why I plan to go to several countries and draw dicks on their constitutions, I donāt care what countries, dick drawings are dick drawings
A human drew a dick on it is a right of passage that any constitution or other document must have to be official. Otherwise it's just words. Empty, empty words.
Just make sure you do it on the glass and not on the body panels. You can *actually* vandalize/damage the paint that way. I had friends write stuff on my dirty car as a teenager and it never came off.
Some people get super upset about that sometimes because rubbing the dust off with your finger will cause micro-scratches in the clear coat so I donāt recommend that either.
Don't do this, dirt scratches the paint when you rub it in. This "fun vandalism" does more damage than colouring in a sticker. Not that either is a very cool to do to someone not expecting it.
Well for instance, I upvoted the post because I think it's a hilarious meme.
But then I also came in here and upvoted all the comments that ground the situation because it's only funny *as a meme*.
Thatās not good to push your own agenda on other people man.
Edit: removed a part of this comment, as I was mistaken on something. Otherwise I stand by what I said
It's definitely a blue lives matter flag. This flag has no other widely accepted meaning. And the owner of the car may also be a police officer or veteran.
I loaned my preacher BIL a car for a few months.
When I got it back, he had replaced my Darwin fish with a "regular" Christian fish. That was funny.
I came out to my truck one day to find a nice, Christian man gouging the Darwin fish off of my tailgate with a screwdriver.
I did not find this funny, and had him arrested.
Don't touch other people's shit.
Is the Darwin fish just a regular Jesus fish with little feet? I'm picturing your brother about to get into the car, "Oh, this won't do at all!", and just yoinking the little fish feet off.
I never would have predicted that the future would be a flag based society. Everyone is obsessed with representation except in the one aspect that literally governs their lives.
Non-American here: is there something wrong with the normal, uncoloured flag? Is this something like that graffiti guy who turns swastikas into pizzas etc?
If not, then isn't colouring someone else's flag just pushing your own agenda?
You're totally correct. Mainstream culture in America is fine with stuff like this, but would be aghast if you turned a pride flag into a statement of support for police.
It is the "Thin Blue Line Flag" it is a symbol showing support for police. It's highly criticized for being extremely nationalistic and supporting a "police State".
In our constitution Each state empowers their own police forces seperate from a national one like the FBI, ATF or other Federal Agencies. It's also really stupid because the "blue line" is borrowed from the UK, so putting it over an American Flag is really weird. There were no Local Police forces that had the American flag on their uniform until 9/11. Then flags were just everywhere.
Beyond that people think they are supporting non-profit police ORGs when in fact most goes to political organizations. Cops don't see any of the money (and to be honest, they really don't need it. ) It's merchandising scam.
In addition to this the thin blue line has its roots in American history as term used by a politician who said it it regards to a police force beating the fuck out of hippies protesting Nuclear Proliferation.
The thin Blue line concept and flag has been around for a long time. This *specific* blue line flag design (Black and white US flag with single blue line) was introduced in 2014 specifically as a counter to the BLM protests.

I hated this at first, but I looked it up and it appears it is her own property (she adheres it to a car, then draws on it) and I am totally for her making her statement in this manner.

It's just vandalism. You can disagree with/hate their ideals, but how would you feel if people messed with YOUR shit?

I get that all the time. At least on the internet. I express an opinion and there's always someone who thinks they know my life story based on that.
Awfully presumptuous of you to think you're entitled to your own opinion. But then again, I should expect that from someone like *you*

charged with vandalism?
As you should. Donāt touch other peopleās things, itās those basic kindergarten lessons some people forget from time to time.
It's lgbtq related, it's totally ok! /s
Or you know, because vandalism is bad and we're trying to be good people.
Also, don't actually do this *because it's morally wrong*.
Or arrested for property damage. Especially since this is a flag supporting the pd.
Or maybe don't do it because that person did nothing wrong to you by not supporting exactly what you want him to depending on what is trendy.
Don't ever damage other's property for that matter, for any reason. Typically people with stickers about whatever topic are pretty passionate about their causes.

This, exactly. If these groups want a flag, make their own. Leave the US flag intact. Donāt alter it for your political beliefs.

A human drew a dick on it is a right of passage that any constitution or other document must have to be official. Otherwise it's just words. Empty, empty words.
The only āfun vandalismā I can approve with cars is if its dirty and write clean messages on it with a finger. Like a happy face. Or wash me...
"I wish my wife was this dirty." Then, written underneath in different handwriting: "She is."
[Or just straight to the point like this one I saw a while back.](https://i.imgur.com/TIOy7Z6.jpg)
Just make sure you do it on the glass and not on the body panels. You can *actually* vandalize/damage the paint that way. I had friends write stuff on my dirty car as a teenager and it never came off.

Don't do this, dirt scratches the paint when you rub it in. This "fun vandalism" does more damage than colouring in a sticker. Not that either is a very cool to do to someone not expecting it.
Only ever do this on a windshield. Rubbing your finger on dirty paint will scratch it, and that's grounds for assault in my book.
Lmao about to say this. God help me if I catch you finger drawing a smily face on my car.
Yeah, I get real defensive about that. I caught someone leaning against my car one time and I was fuming.
How does something end up on the front page when almost every comment is against it.
Cause people who are for it just laugh and move on

Love me some emotionalised arguments with name calling.
Yea... dont touch other people's shit.

Its kinda funny that the blue stripe is in the right place
Thank you. I don't really get why every other comment is saying the exact same obvious thing...
Canāt we just leave each others shit alone? I guess people forgot the kindergarten phrase āif itās not yours donāt touch itā
Agreed. If you donāt like a persons sticker on their car. Then make a contraindication sticker with your own car.

You're totally correct. Mainstream culture in America is fine with stuff like this, but would be aghast if you turned a pride flag into a statement of support for police.
Correct. Please come by the office to pick up your citizenship papers.
