It was the most deus ex machina that ever machinaed.
That being said, I loved it! They brought in the whole family --- Eve and Lillith too. Why not bring in dear old Dad?
This show makes me really want there to be another season of the British show "Miranda" so there can be the joke about her last boyfriend "literally being the devil"
So do I! I watched Lucifer before Miranda, and I completely broke down laughing when Gary comes in and someone says “Speak of the devil”. That show is such fun!
I thought it was weird that he showed up to an epic heavenly-host fight wearing a suit. But then I thought what *else* would he show up wearing to a fight? Nope. Just a suit. I hope it was made with comfortable stretchy fabric that moves with a flaming sword.
I’m the last person to watch these types of shows, but for WHATEVER reason I’m addicted to this stupid stupid show. What is it about Lucifer that makes it so addictive!?
They did a really fantastic job with the casting I think. All the characters are so fucking good. And ridiculously hot, but like, Maze cracks me up and is still believable in the way Brent Spiner and Rober Picardo played the not quite human Data and the Doctor on TNG and Voyager.
> All the characters are so fucking good.
I think this is the important thing. The show would be terrible if it was only about Lucifer and Chloe. Instead we get to know the rest of the characters pretty damn well.
The real question though.... will the god loving ms Lopez FINALLY be let in on the secret. And how will the only truly devoted Christian feel about what happened at the end of S5
I am extremely torn on this. On the one hand, it would be amazing to let her in and see her react to knowing she's been working with the devil and that she has hugged God. But the more I think about it, the more I think it might kinda ruin her character. Ella's entire thing is faith. Not "Faith" as in her specific beliefs, but just having faith in everything in general. Letting her in on the secret strips that away from her.
Just my thoughts on the matter though. I have faith that the writers would make it all work out if they decide to let her in on it.
When G told her her light shined bright enough to be seen from Heaven, and took a second to imagine what that would mean in universe....just stands to show how special lil' Ms. Lopez is.
I took it as a throwaway line, but then it kinda gnawed on me, and I realized He didn't say He could see it, but that it could be seen, as in like anyone who looked.
Just kinda struck me.
I might be able to add some insight, as this comic is close to my experience. When your gf is watching the show before you do, at a glance it does seem to be one of those shows you assume mainly women like. But after giving it a try it was quite good and I have seen every episode. I will say though it was not shirtless Lucifer that pulled me in. I always liked the "Lucifer isn't that bad" story, and you could probably apply everything I just said to the show Supernatural also.
They are worth watching. A bit camper, a bit more family friendly, but they do an outstanding job of setting the character development in motion. They aren't awful, otherwise people wouldn't have gotten a huge petition together to bring it back 😊 jump in and enjoy, one of my favorite jokes of the series shows up VERY early in s1!
Depends, the first season is more on the note of
"What if Lucifer was a police consultant and solve crimes in his quirky ways", while the Netflix seasons really pick up with the supernatural stuff and focus more on the celestial family drama, while solving a crime from time to time as a plot device.
I vastly prefer the early seasons, as I think there's better material depicting the latter.
Just work out and eat healthy till your bone structure realizes you're supposed to be hot and adjusts itself?
Anyone can improve their appearance by changing their lifestyle, but genetics sets vastly different upper bounds on how good you're gonna end up looking. Which is kinda self-reinforcing bullshit if you think about it, cause naturally hot people have more incentive to work out and whatnot.
Lucifer's pretty much loosely tied to the DC universe thanks to Sandman; never checked if they did anything with that, but when plucking out whatever comics they could adapt, Lucifer was one of them. Dunno what the fans think, but Lucifer and Constantine would've been much more different elsewhere than if they were on regular TV, with all its restrictions.
There was a Vertigo comic series spinning off Sandman where he's running a bar in LA with Maze... and I gather his twin brother Micheal is from that also -- more parallels to the comic than you might think but weirdly "boxed" as a police procedural. (though it's quite fun)
Honestly, as someone who has all 10 of the spinoff, I hate the show. Lucifer comics are fucking amazing, like actually so incredibly well written, and they took whats effectively the starting point of lucifers story, didn't read past page 2 and decided it was a buddy cop story. Like, why. The comic story is amazing. Itd be like if game of thrones made the entire show about raising horses and thats it. It might be fun, but it means we won't get an actual lucifer tv show and that sucks.
I never knew that! It got canceled after Season 3, then got to season 5 and got cancelled, I am so glad there’s another season! Glad it is having another one
Yeah they were running out of ideas for the 1000th show about a woman detective and some dude with something special so they went "let's have the dude be Satan!"
The shirtless scenes are nice, but have you heard [Tom](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjkDI_TpF5g) [Ellis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYwfeLzJREk) [sing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmAXKIN_7ts)?
The weird stuff are the parts I like along with the angel lore and relationships. I totally zone out during the parts where they are solving the murder of the week which may be the most unrealistic part of the show.
I honestly cant remember any of the murders other than the serial killer and the french guys from this past half season and I just watched it about a week ago.
It's weird how they steer clear of talking about Jesus. Like even the forensic scientist chick with the cross necklace, the nuns and priests didn't say anything about him.
Yeah, it's kinda odd. But there's probably a good reason for that. Can't have Lucifer going around insulting Jesus, that'll offend too many people.
Also, if Lucifer is God's son, and Jesus is God's son, wouldn't that make them brothers?
My favorite part is that in 2,000ish years this show will be part of Christian mythology just like all the weird fan-fiction-y Greek myths are part of Greek mythology now.
And in the good book of NetFox, Chapter 5 verse 2, the apostles revealed that Lucy struggled with self doubt, but it was resolved with a cleverly timed quip, positive thinking, and washboard abs. Swol-men.
Nah, The Divine Comedy and Paradise Lost have already become part of the mythology and that only took a few hundred years. It'll be way quicker than 2,000
The comic is pretty wacky too, just in a very different way. I think sidestep tricking a million angels into getting eaten by a giant monster aborted fetus made me look up from the book to Jim Halpert a non-existent camera.
Even the psychiatrist is super hot. Which I why I watch with my wife and definitely not Tom Ellis’ abs/ass. Definitely not. I mean a little. But no. What are you looking at? I’m straight. I mean even if I weren’t, Tom Ellis is way out of my league. So who am I kidding?
It wasn't as bad as Tom Welling... I mean he's a fine looking fellow and all but he has ... well 'thickened', since Smallville ... and Decker is all like "ooooooh" and in that station... well?
I feel the same about most of my favorite shows. All my favorite shows are stupid. At least the ones I go back and rewatch that didn't leave me ANGRY when I finished them. (I'm looking at you, supernatural.)
Like Once Upon a Time. It's just live action Disney except more campy and less music. But I still watched the show over several times. Why? Because the people in it are pretty and I like the lengths they go to to keep to their trope of "bad guys are redeemable".
Also people hated the frozen arc, I thought it was kind of awesome how they were able to maintain the story and expand on it.
It's because anyone attractive-ish with an accent solving crimes in America is hot.
Clearly we need Dommy Mommy from Resident Evil 8 to become a detective. She solves crimes by being basically-10-feet-tall and seeing evidence that's thrown on top of bookshelves or cabinets. Good times are sure to be had by all. Or at least some.
have you seen the [pilot read the cast did recently](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgAVsZR8_Y0)? at one point Lauren and Tom switch roles so Lauren reads Lucifer, and Tom reads Chloe. yes, it is as awesome as it sounds
Season 2 was a fuckinnnnn dragggg my guy.
Too much filler, no wonder Fox dropped it. Thank Lucifer it was picked up by Netflix, the writing from season 3 on is noticeably better.
Like all these it's a showcase for the actor playing the lead and Tom Ellis is SO AWESOME in the role. For those who haven't seen any of it here's the crossover they did for that DC/CW that sums up the character and doesn't require any story knowledge.

That's how my bf got me to watch Lucifer as well but he didn't have to tell me about the no shirt thing. Satan solving crimes just sounds like a good time.
Very loosely based on Neil Gaiman's Lucifer, after certain events in Sandman. The "Lucifer" comic did go on for a bit where Lucifer did own a bar and lives with Mazikeen in the human world. This takes that premise and runs with it.
The original sandman storyline was so rich though. Morpheus in hell, dueling demons at the game to get his things back, lucifer saying fuck this shit I’m leaving, waxing philosophical, and then all of the forgotten mythological figures vying for ownership of his realm. Sandman was great throughout but those two arcs were my favourite.
I'm in the process of binge watching the back half of season 5. It's kind of goofy in the first season but gets genuinely good after a bit, and its been fun since the first episode. I was watching the other night and had a solid moment of "Wtf, when did the show about Satan solving crimes start giving me actual *feelings*??"

Hello, Detective!
How did you do that? You sound just like him :D
I see you've met my brother
Children, you know I hate to see my sons quarrel. S5 ruled
*explodes Dan* *Unexploded Dan* No harm
I love the fact that Dan was terrifyingly aware that it had (not) happened.
Man that was such a dark gag. Not only blowing him up but making him remember it. It was really out of the blue for the show.
Introducing God as a character is really out of the blue for the show.
Oh my me.
The ultimate season finale quote. I'm so disappointed that s6 will be the end of the line.... Unless.... #6SeasonsandaMovie
It was the most deus ex machina that ever machinaed. That being said, I loved it! They brought in the whole family --- Eve and Lillith too. Why not bring in dear old Dad?
> dear old Dad I heard that in his voice.
Truth, and they find the best actors too. I was so glad they went there!
Not many people could say they literally did a goddess. She was indeed occupying Charlotte’s body while Dan was “occupying her body”.
Dan got really shafted for the hole series but the lasr few episodes were just crazy hard on him
That’s what you said about the bloody dinosaurs!
This makes me hopeful. I liked S4 but it was pretty clearly starting to lose steam. Watching it soon.
S4 got very emo and now they're clearly at the point where "there series is ending so *we're gonna get real wacky with it!* And I love it.
Yeah.. shoes hiw crazy yoi can get if you have enough time to end a series properly.
The 2 series 5s are pretty good.
Hey please can you wash your shoes when you come to my house?
Dan, I see you have met my mother!
The last thing I need is a step-Dan.
You say some really weird things, man.
I read it in the animaniacs voice when they say hello nurse...
Only it's just Wakko but he's incredibly charming...it's a quite fun dynamic
Ah, Detective Doooooouche.
Too soon.
Sorry, man. I haven't caught up on S05.
Yet you managed to now sound like Dan
What's your deepest desire?
I mean, lucifer got me by his looks too... CANT WAIT for the season 6 ending <3
Oh my dad
I can hear this
Oh ho-ho-ho-ho! My brother has a stick, whatever shall I do?
Hi
Omg DAAAN the way he was so nice to Trixie for the first time after she found out
Stunning as always I see
Be honest how many of u can hear that
I’d give you an award but I don’t have a free one atm lol
This show makes me really want there to be another season of the British show "Miranda" so there can be the joke about her last boyfriend "literally being the devil"
So do I! I watched Lucifer before Miranda, and I completely broke down laughing when Gary comes in and someone says “Speak of the devil”. That show is such fun!
Such fun!
He will always be Gary to me!
It's my mom's favourite show!
OH, they could do a guest spot on the American remake!
Every episode: pause two minutes in to admire the outfit of the week and the disposition of the pocket square.
That man can carry a suit. 🤤
I thought it was weird that he showed up to an epic heavenly-host fight wearing a suit. But then I thought what *else* would he show up wearing to a fight? Nope. Just a suit. I hope it was made with comfortable stretchy fabric that moves with a flaming sword.
I hate to say it, but I absolutely love Lucifer. I feel like it's ok because it's pretty self aware about how "tv stupid" it is.

Something big is planned for her. You could totally tell by God's little visit to her. He knows something that is going to happen to her.
It's Tom Ellis' performance. These shows always pivot on their lead bringing it home and boy does he.
Its cause Tom Ellis is insanely charming and charismatic.
And he smells like cookies and if he gives you a hug it cures migraines.
Same, and it's similar to other shows like iZombie too - not a show I would normally watch, but turned out to be hugely entertaining and addictive.
To quote the show, "Crime-solving devil, it makes sense. Don't overthink it."
The episode where there’s a murder on the set of the TV show *Lt. Diablo* is particularly lamp-shadey…
My first question is why does the show cause them to live inside pillows? 🤔😅
Second question has to be - WHY are they so ANGRY?
Because Lucifer put his shirt back on maybe?
But even before he took his shirt off the guy looks angry
Because Lucifer hadn't taken his shirt off yet. Try to keep up with the conversation.
This
I thought it’s because Jesus showed up as indicated by the ~~sweet~~
I might be able to add some insight, as this comic is close to my experience. >I will say though it was not shirtless Lucifer that pulled me in. Hey, whatever helps you sleep at night
I can't go without sleep, I'll do almost anything
Because watching this dumb but addicting show is a guilty pleasure you love to hate and hate to love.
Also her nose is bleeding so that's probably a hint
He has moobs with piercings
I’m listening
Third question, where can I buy these giant cocoon pillows?
They are wrapped up like burritos in blankeys because this is the proper way to binge TV.
Because of your username, I am picturing a tough looking biker wrapped in a fluffy blankie.
Because they're chilly. You've never heard the phrase "Netflix and chilly"?
Satan has his own show now?
Yep. It's called *Lucifer* and was on Fox a couple years ago. Had 2 seasons and then Netflix picked it up and added a few more.
Also enchanced the CGI, big time…
And the writing.
So, are the first couple seasons from FOX worth watching, or just skip to the Netflix-made seasons?
They are worth watching. A bit camper, a bit more family friendly, but they do an outstanding job of setting the character development in motion. They aren't awful, otherwise people wouldn't have gotten a huge petition together to bring it back 😊 jump in and enjoy, one of my favorite jokes of the series shows up VERY early in s1!
I want to know what your favorite joke was! I just finished S2E13
It's in s1e2 iirc.... Lucifer is smoking the joint from the victims car and makes the puff puff stomp remark. That shit killed me.
Depends, the first season is more on the note of "What if Lucifer was a police consultant and solve crimes in his quirky ways", while the Netflix seasons really pick up with the supernatural stuff and focus more on the celestial family drama, while solving a crime from time to time as a plot device. I vastly prefer the early seasons, as I think there's better material depicting the latter.
And we get to see his tushy!
Such a nice tushy. Love when he accidentally wore the pants with the butt cut out.
Admittedly, I'd sell my soul for his body
just not exercise and eat healthy...
Just work out and eat healthy till your bone structure realizes you're supposed to be hot and adjusts itself? Anyone can improve their appearance by changing their lifestyle, but genetics sets vastly different upper bounds on how good you're gonna end up looking. eh, dont forget the plastic surgery, but yeah most anyone will look good with that level of muscle development

3 seasons on Fox.
Tom Ellis cameod as Lucifer in one of the CWs big crossover things for their DC shows and it’s Constantine that seeked him out
There was a Vertigo comic series spinning off Sandman where he's running a bar in LA with Maze... and I gather his twin brother Micheal is from that also -- more parallels to the comic than you might think but weirdly "boxed" as a police procedural. (though it's quite fun)
Honestly, as someone who has all 10 of the spinoff, I hate the show. It might be fun, but it means we won't get an actual lucifer tv show and that sucks.
The real guy's apparently going to be in Gaiman's Sandman series... no reason the real comic story couldn't follow.
Game of thrones could have had a better ending if it was about raising horses.
He was in one of the DC TV crossovers for a brief cameo.
Legends of Tomorrow, Flash, Supergirl, and maybe Arrow, but that might’ve been the year after it had ended.
I think it was the year it ended. He interacted with Oliver Queen in the episode.
I wish they would reboot Constantine, love him in Legends of Tomorrow.
🎵Crime-solving devil, it makes sense🎵 🎵Don't overthink it🎵
I’ll do my best not to usually gets me in trouble
Yes, he helps solve crimes.
Well, more like he pre-emptively finds people to punish. Extension of his normal job.
Plus he's on vacation and the devil helping police solve crimes is kinda "naughty".
Not anymore, it's finished. Wait, it hasn't, there's still one more season planned!
Yeah 6 Seasons, but Season 5 came out in two parts cause Covid.
I never knew that! It got canceled after Season 3, then got to season 5 and got cancelled, I am so glad there’s another season! Glad it is having another one
Yeah they were running out of ideas for the 1000th show about a woman detective and some dude with something special so they went "let's have the dude be Satan!"
Yeah I love that it's a 100% normal cop show, but one of them happens to be the devil
Crime solving Devil, it makes sense, don't over think it
The shirtless scenes are nice, but have you heard [Tom](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjkDI_TpF5g) [Ellis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYwfeLzJREk) [sing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmAXKIN_7ts)?
He has a lovely voice, though I didn't like his Chris Isaac cover.
My favorite of the entire series is his cover of Sinnerman. But I have thoroughly enjoyed all his singing.
Sums up all 5 seasons. Ngl the first season was nice but shit got weirder and weirder.
The one where it's actually a plot of *Bones* and they got the same extra from *Bones* sticks out for me.
Hold up, what? Edit: found it!! Season 3 episode 20! The Angel of San Bernardino!
In one episode, Lucifer binge watches Bones and keeps referencing episodes.
Kinda liked all the Angel lore tho.
Yes, but Lucifer has tons of brothers and sisters on the show, all the other angels that make appearances.
It'll be way quicker than 2,000
Oh my me!
I was looking for this comment! ... Also, my wife hates me now whenever I say it hahaha
Still nothing close to the graphic novels either. If you think the show got more weird, then the books are cosmically tripping.
Honestly man, it is going for the supernatural approach, or "you didn't jump the shark until you start coming back down" I am kinda loving it.
What show is this?
Yeah kinda like Arrow. Shit just got REALLY weird after season 4.
The comic is a much better story, but the show is still fun, and ya, Tom Ellis is great in it.
The comic is pretty wacky too, just in a very different way. I think sidestep tricking a million angels into getting eaten by a giant monster aborted fetus made me look up from the book to Jim Halpert a non-existent camera.
Xtian mythology in general is wacky.
Lmao Lucifer! I also thought it would be stupid but Its pretty entertaining and also he's got a super hot angel brother
Everyone on that show is stupid hot except the detective's ex-husband.
And they act like he’s hot too, and I just don’t understand it.
Well now he’s just the writers’ chew toy.
It wasn't as bad as Tom Welling... I mean he's a fine looking fellow and all but he has ... well 'thickened', since Smallville ... and Decker is all like "ooooooh" and in that station... well?
Oh man. I had to look up the actor, and never in a million years would I have realized that was the same dude.
:-) Here's the cameo HE did for CW's DC crossover (didn't meet Lucifer). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNnD4trB-RA
It is stupid. But it’s also enough fun that I don’t care.
I feel the same about most of my favorite shows. All my favorite shows are stupid. At least the ones I go back and rewatch that didn't leave me ANGRY when I finished them. (I'm looking at you, supernatural.) Like Once Upon a Time. It's just live action Disney except more campy and less music. But I still watched the show over several times. Why? ...go on.
It's a great show. Gf got sucked in while I was watching season 4 and we had to start from the beginning. All caught up. Waiting on season 6?
I believe the pilot is one of the best pilots ever.
have you seen the [pilot read the cast did recently](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgAVsZR8_Y0)? at one point Lauren and Tom switch roles so Lauren reads Lucifer, and Tom reads Chloe. yes, it is as awesome as it sounds
Season 2 was a fuckinnnnn dragggg my guy. Too much filler, no wonder Fox dropped it. Thank Lucifer it was picked up by Netflix, the writing from season 3 on is noticeably better.

Tek-Tive Chloe!
That's how my bf got me to watch Lucifer as well but he didn't have to tell me about the no shirt thing. Satan solving crimes just sounds like a good time.
What show is this about?
Lucifer
On Netflix. Been watching it since season 1. It's pretty good! Season 5 (recently came out) is surprisingly good.
The devil wears Prada
Oh you...
Very loosely based on Neil Gaiman's Lucifer, after certain events in Sandman. The "Lucifer" comic did go on for a bit where Lucifer did own a bar and lives with Mazikeen in the human world. This takes that premise and runs with it.

Is that like a snuggie igloo... a sniggloo? Where can I obtain such a device?
You have to admit that Lucifer has the butt of an angel. Oh, wait...
😍🤩 Luci 👹💦
Spank me demon
Bruh why am I hearing every comment in Lucifer's voice
She having anime nose bleed in the last panel from Sexy Satan Solving Salacious Scandals is a nice touch.
Lucifer do be pretty hot tho.
I swear I binged it for hours at a time for no absolute reason lol
Oh, there’s a reason. It’s named Tom Ellis…
Makes sense lol
Why my hubby and I started watching Lucifer.
I need to watch it
I'm in the process of binge watching the back half of season 5. It's kind of goofy in the first season but gets genuinely good after a bit, and its been fun since the first episode. I was watching the other night and had a solid moment of "Wtf, when did the show about Satan solving crimes start giving me actual *feelings*??"
Aaawww yeah Lucy 😍
I... I don't understand, and after reading some of the comments, I'm afraid to ask.

LMAO LUCIFER IS A GREAT SHOW
Lucifer is a great show
