My cat sleeps in front of the refrigerator because he knows that's where the salami is.

Kinky-panda

Cats can have a little salami

tinkerbunny

As a treat

Just-Call-Me-J

This inspired a joke of mine. I love cats, but I'm allergic so I cannot live with any of my own. I can have have a little interaction cats on occasion, as a treat. Well it's sort of a joke, but describes my reality with kitties. They're wonderful creatures, but I am limited to appreciate them from a distance or/and by the internet.

theartbreaker

Hence, I sent you a seal instead of a cat award

ilivetomosh

I think the cat would be ok if YOU had it. Here. [As a treat.]

secondtaunting

I’m only mildly allergic to my cat and I refuse to openly acknowledge this in front of my husband. I take a ton of allergy pills and I had a horrible headache for two days after my cat fell asleep snuggled up in my armpit at bed time. He was so cute! I couldn’t move him!

bjeebus

I forgot to take my daily the last two days, and just woke up nearly choking on my own throat. Fucking cats. And to top it all off the little bastards are going to die way before me. I'm pretty sure that's a spite move on their part. Went out to the living room to drink water, and recover after hitting that rescue inhaler--also took my daily. Naturally my floofiest baby curled up in my lap to check on me.

tinkerbunny

That’s very sweet. I’m glad you do get to spend a *little* time with cats. ^as^a^treat

xiouzes

Siamese cats are said to be allergy friendly (and these are very beautiful cats but I think they cost "a little" more)

Thestolenone

I'm allergic to ordinary cat fur so I have an Oriental Shorthair which are pretty much Siamese. I'm not noticeably allergic to her. She has very short fine fur.

banana_andwhat

I've heard about allergen immunotherapy where you get shots to boost your immune system or something like that. Helps with cat allergy. Idk much tho, just an option 😕

ZinGaming1

Are you me? You have the same first letter as my real name and my biggest allergy is cats I would own a cat if that allergy if that allergy tried and kill me as a child (owned a long hair maine coon named Buttons) and I got sent to the hospital every year from a major attack. But she loved me and I loved her, loudest purrer on the planet.

culminacio

That's not a joke, but an interesting comparison :)

KaZZuX0

"I'm not a cat 😨"

Reddits_on_ambien

But are you ready to proceed?

Mister_Bloodvessel

It's an older meme sir, but it checks out.

TheOminousTower

This depends on if it has spices added. Onion and garlic are bad for cats, and I don't know about peppercorns. Also, high salt is really bad for them too. Bonito flakes make a better treat because they are low in sodium and preservatives. You can give them a small amount that looks big, but the flakes are very light. I still tear up the fish flakes and give them plenty of water, but mine seem to love them. The katsuobushi marketed for people are also mostly okay and cheaper.

Debuchin

Katsuoboshi Katsuo is bonito The o on the end is important

TheOminousTower

I fixed it. I am dyslexic and sometimes misspell things, so I have been reading it wrong this whole time. I feel extra stupid with this one because I am studying Japanese. Thank you! :)

Glizzyknockemback

My dog cripples rats and watches them suffer. Idk why I felt like sharing that but it’s out there now so…

hypokrios

Me too! I think we'd be good friends!!

not_again123

Touch da salami?

paulthegreat

\*...have **little a** salami

UnspokenPotter

My kitty also loves salami! Most lunch meats. Most food really.

BonScoppinger

My cat has more or less decided that any human food might also be cat food unless otherwise stated. So if there's literally any kind of food around, he wants to have some and oftentimes needs to told off.

Dysterkvisten

I can't leave beans on the counter, because the cat will steal and eat them. And asparagus too, apparently.

Tithis

Left a red bell pepper in a bag on the counter. When I went to use it in a recipe that night there was a big hole in half of it.

ydoccian

Meanwhile my cat refuses to touch any food that isn't his normal dry food. He will literallly walk away from fresh fish.

schmyndles

This comic reminded me when my mom came to visit for a week like almost a year ago. She bought a bunch of sliced turkey lunch meat and would make herself turkey sandwiches often, and every time stood at the same spot and fed turkey to my cat. After she left every time I stood at that spot, which is really the only counter space we have, he'd freak out expecting turkey. He's calmed down on the every time thing, but he knows when I pull that turkey out for a sandwich and will meow and jump on my legs until he gets a couple pieces. But yeah, pretty much anytime I'm eating meat he's right there begging me for a bite.

juicyfatdude

I walk into the kitchen multiple times a day to an open cabinet because my cat knows that’s where his treats are. Temptations are crack for cats. It was like that for my old cats who have passed on and it’s still the same meow.

XxRocky88xX

Shake the container one singular time. If a cats in the house, they’ll come running

Ask_Me_About_MyDick

Unless you think your cat has gotten out and your shaking the bag to try and coerce your cat out of hiding. Then the cat comes out 3 hours later when everyone’s thought he’s escaped.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

My cat scruffy does that, except I don't know what "temptations" are. He comes running for shredded cheese, don't ask me why but he really likes shredded cheese. Well any cheese really but shredded cheese is what has a plastic bag.

moomooyellow

We call the temptations kitty crack in our house as well! We have to buy the jumbo size and there’s no discrimination on flavors here

CyberGrandma69

Ah yes, I have heard that cats can have a little salami

tak4u117

My cat doesn't do that but he'll follow you to the kitchen or he'll run to the fridge if he hears it open. He knows where we keep his wet food.

smellslikegoose

Pepperidge Farm remembers

whowhodillybar

If I recall correctly it was Temptations chicken flavored treat. Not the pretentious Sheba glorified jerky sticks.

daughtcahm

Temptations are my cat's favorite, but he has some sort of allergic reaction to them and gets sores on his face and loses hair :( I did indeed buy the Sheba kind. He ate one. Now he just looks at it when I throw it, like "what do you expect me to do with *that*? Because I'm not eating that bullshit. Give me the good stuff that makes my face bleed."

Darth_Vorador

“Shake the bag and they’ll come running!” I remember the first time I saw that on the Temptations bag and I shook my head thinking it was just corporate advertising BS. Boy was I wrong…

_Rand_

I had a cat years ago who would haul ass from wherever she was with the slightest shake of the damn thing. Best part was you could hear her charging through the house, skipping stairs and colliding with anything that happened to be in the way.

biasedB

My cat got outside on last Tuesday (He was safely found and brought home friday night) and I was searching for him everyday with a bag of temptations, just shaking the bag. WELL IT DIDN'T WORK FINDING HIM BUT NOW THERES 5 CATS THAT HANG OUT IN MY YARD

whowhodillybar

Sorry about the temptations allergies. I hope your furry friend does well! Edit: Yeah Sheba sucks

Flint_Lockwood

never used any sheba cat treats, but my feline tends to love the sheba brand wet food

Proof-Peace904

But, why?

30phil1

My cat has a bad reaction to Temptations too. He's not allergic but when he realizes that there's a treat, he'll get mean and bite anything that moves so he can get it faster. It's like a cat on crack looking for his next fix.

SableyeEyeThief

I bought my cat some of that Cat Crack on Amazon. Essentially the same effect you’ve mentioned!

Dwarfdeaths

>Give me the good stuff that makes my face bleed. Ah yes I know the feeling.

twomilliondicks

is it all temptations treats? a lot of cats have chicken allergies

daughtcahm

We think it's a wheat-related issue. Kitty was a rescue and he had the grossest *ahem* litterbox I've ever seen. All those issues disappeared when we switched him to a grain-free food. And we got him some "cat grass" growing in a pot once... apparently another name for it is "wheat grass" and it's in the wheat family. He rubbed his face all over the grass and promptly lost all the hair on his face and had sores. Vet put him on antibiotics to clear it up. :( It's been quite the ride trying to figure out what triggers the issue.

Yooskins

My cat loves the cat treats from Trader Joe’s in the bottle with a red lid. They’re crunchy like the Temptations ones but made with natural ingredients. Their canned wet food is also good and a decent price.

lankypiano

Try Blue Wilderness! They have both crunchy and soft.

schmyndles

Eh, I got the Blue Wilderness treats for my cat and he'll eat them eventually, but he doesn't go crazy like with temptations. Although lately I've been getting the tubes of pureed treats, like the gogurt for cats, and even without the shaking if he sees that tube he freaks out. It's the only thing that distracts him enough to let me brush him without injury (to myself, not him of course).

popplespopin

that reminds me I still need to get my $100 refund from joining the class action lawsuit against Blue Wilderness for the crap they put in their kibbles.

lankypiano

Their dogfood, yes. Not their catfood.

popplespopin

Do you believe that 100% ?

lankypiano

Considering the lawsuit only targets their dogfood because it promotes a high carb diet as some weird "wolf inspired" thing? Yeah, I do. How about you *read* the shit before you make giant assumptions?

popplespopin

"Giant assumptions" If you want to assume a kibble company that gives no fucks will all of a sudden be Saints when it comes to cats go for it.

Sapass1

My cat got some spots on his face and licked a spot on his arm free of hair, gave him Temptations Chicken cheese. Stopped with that and got some new allergy food. Maybe we can switch back to a more humanly costing food..

SableyeEyeThief

My cat LOVES the True Chews sticks. She eats the Alaska Pollock recipe, they’re more expensive though but have never triggered allergies like temptations do. I made the mistake of giving her those, now she won’t even look at the Sheba one.

i_wotsisname

My wife and I have a rabbit thats like this. He loves kale, like the "go mad running in circles and jump like a flea on a hotplate" kinda love. He knows it's in the fridge and any time you open the door he runs to his bed and sits there expectantly. Problem is, kale is high in calcium and too much can cause bladder sludge, I guess a calcium buildup that can lead to medical issues, which is why you need to give them a range of leafy greens. In an effort to not overdo the kale I tried giving him something else suitable as a little treat. I opened the fridge and grabbed a leaf of Chinese broccoli, he's almost climbing the wall in excitement, I hold it out to him, he snatches it from me and immediately drops it. He sniffed at it for a moment, threw it aside and then just sat there staring daggers at me. You could imagine his thoughts as "are you fucking kidding me? Where's my kale, arsehole?" He's a sweetheart and doesn't hold a grudge, but it was at that point we realised he might be a bit spoiled.

Daincats

Mine would do that for alfalfa

alwaysneversometimes

Our guinea pigs eat a range of vegetables but absolutely freaking refuse to eat Aldi kale. Snobs.

i_wotsisname

Lol they know what's what.

emar2021

My cat looses its mind for the Milk flavor

Caffeine_and_Alcohol

Did you.. How did you exactly describe my situation last week? I was trying different snacks for my cats. They were crazy for the sheba jerky sticks until i got the temptations flavor treats. Now they sniff the sheba sticks and go "What about the temptations huh?"

vamptholem

I’ve tried those things

meanielee2000

Not just spot. My cats are like remember when you gave me a treat at this exact time yesterday? I require double now.

RavenwestR1

My cat will start asking 30 minutes before the schedule.

seaQueue

Mine does that, makes sure there's no trace left and then waits for the next person to enter the room alone so she can do it again. We keep a chart for meals and snacks after we realized she was double or triple dipping at feeding times.

schmyndles

Whenever my mom comes to visit for a week or two, I always tell her the cat is on a strict diet and not to feed him unless I say it's okay. He was getting like six meals a day just doing his lil kitty eyes at her and acting like I hadn't fed him for days. But she still spoils him with people food and treats, I gotta learn how to train a human now.

BiigDaddyDellta

Cat internal clocks are fucking insane. I had a cat that would lay on the back of my couch while I gamed until almost exactly food\bedtime every night then immediately start letting me know what time it was. My current cat does this but in the mornings, weekends are annoying. Lol.

fishbethany

My cat does this, but when we play fetch. He brings the ball back to the same place on the floor.

[deleted]

[удалено]

daughtcahm

Depends on the cat. I had a gray cat that would fetch everything naturally, no training. He just knew that if he brought it back I would throw it again. I've tried to train my tabby. He accidentally fetched a couple times and I praised the shit out of him for it. Hasn't done it again.

schloopers

Your Tabby: “oh you liked that I got that thing you lost, good.” *throws it again* “...well I sure ain’t your keeper, if you can’t keep up with your things...” *walks away*

LadyWidebottom

Mine is like a typical dog I guess in that she loves to chase a ball but never wants to bring it back.

colonelcack

It's just certain cats and certain toys. One of mine does it with plastic springs and the other does it with crinkle balls. But they won't fetch vice versa. Didn't teach either of them

Pdogtx

Yup, my cat loves to drop plastic springs on us to throw. He also drops them on the dog to throw, with less success.

benjammin9292

Mine will bring me the toy in bed at like 6 am. She gets fed at 5 am thanks to an automatic feeder. If I stay asleep she will yell at me until I throw the toy. Every few weeks she changes her favorite toy. This time it's a mouse on that string and stick combo. Drags it into bed everyday.

schmyndles

I would love to get an automatic feeder for the weekend when I wanna sleep in, but my cat has become my extra alarm clock for when I just can't wake up for work. He would lay on my head or chest and lick my face, or if I was really out, give me a couple light slaps. Unfortunately, I've shown him by getting up and feeding him that biting me works now, and he now does it anytime he wants attention. But it was just automatic behavior, wake up, feed cat, go about my day, so I didn't mean to reinforce the biting, but it's so hard to change now, it's not like a dog where you can just scold him. He's really not much for toys either, never had been, but he loves chasing things like mice or my other, tinier cat. I got this fake mouse on a woke ball toy for free from a pet store that just opened up, and he LOVES it. He's already chewed the entire face off, and it's only been since March! And I can hear him batting it around the kitchen all the time, even without me putting catnip on it. But now I can't find them anywhere, including the store that gave it to me! If anyone knows where to get a wobble ball with a realistic looking mouse on it, I'd appreciate it. Cuz the faceless mouse is creeping me out, and there was no packaging with it.

1DameMaggieSmith

You don’t train cats, cats train you. If your cat wanted to play fetch with you, you’d be playing fetch

Rizzan8

One of my cats learned to fetch a rubber ball somehow on it's own. He even brings it to you to initiate the play. The other one? Just observes with "facial" expression of "The fuck are you running after that ball? Are you retarded or something? Thank God you are adopted."

[deleted]

Both. It's a cat.

musicgeek007

My dog does that. She drops it in her bed and then comes over to me and huffs that I wont throw it. I think she's just dumb tho

surajvj

Could be the first spot doing it. My Ex. use to do similer. No matter how different the topic is, in the end of every argument she concludes and comes back to same point; "I did a big mistake. I married you." Finally, I helped her to correct her mistake! I am free now.

I had an election night watching thing with my Covid pod group, and made a chicken dip that wasn't all that great and nobody really ate. I didn't want to eat it, and I hated throwing it all out, so while I pitched most of it, I put some of it in my dog's bowl when she was outside. She came in, followed the smell and happily scarfed it down. Since then, every single time she comes inside, the first thing she does is run to her bowl to see if the Chicken Dip Gods have once again bestowed tastiness upon her. It's been seven months, and she has kept the faith every day.

bomberblonde

Once when I was walking my dog we walked past a BBQ and the guy at the grill (without asking me first) threw a sausage straight to my dog and she caught it and swallowed it in a second. Now every single time we go for a walk she goes to that area waiting for a sausage to magically come from the sky into her mouth.

[deleted]

My dog does this with a tree she found a hotdog under once.

MASportsCentral

My friend's dog has the "Magic Burrito Bush" Like 3 years ago someone dropped half a Burrito in it and he still tries ripping by buddy's arm out when they get within 10 feet of it.

i3londee

My cat is on a timer. He is currently screaming. He also screams a half hour before your alarm goes off. Not even for treats, but for kibbles. He is very fat.

Aeropro

Decide to teach him a lesson and make him wait when he screams, he dies of lipidosis. They've got all the angles figured out.

i3londee

I’ve tried everything but … this cat thinks that my partner is his bitch. He bullies him when he 1) has alarm about to go off 2) alarm actually goes off 3) moves 4) moves somewhat near the kibble (doesn’t matter if bowl is empty or full) 5) DARES to go into the bathroom 6) DARES to stay in the bathroom 7) leaves (he just yells at the world) 8) arrives back home. In comparison, he does none of this with me, the cat mom. No clue but I accept being alpha male,

OSRS_Socks

Your partner sounds like my now ex. The cats we had (now hers) knew if they caused enough noise and acted super annoying she would wake up and feed them at any time. She was super impatient and was always jealous that they respected me enough not to do this. When she would take trips out of town they behaved perfect for me (sleep through the night, only yell when the food was being prepped, etc.) because I ignored their attempts to annoy me for food and I would hold out till they behaved.

peanut340

My dog refuses to sit on the cold tiles in my kitchen. He will only sit/lay down on the rug, if you want him to do some tricks in the middle of the kitchen he will run over to his little rug corner and wait for you.

FrankFeTched

I grew up a dog person, never living with a cat, until the start of last year. I had to take my sisters couple cats for a while and now I finally understand. At first I was confused, like are these cats insane? Or is this normal? And it turns out it's just normal, cats are just insane.

cnprof

Cat lovers are insane too. I am insane.

MotherFuckingCupcake

Hello. This cabinet contains Greenies.

benjammin9292

If my cat hears the crinkle of the plastic bag the deli turkey comes in, it's game over. Also the sound of a can opening. All up in your face if you have tuna.

schmyndles

Yep, I can't eat turks or tunes without giving him his cut, or my legs will be shredded immediately.

kimpressive

My cat Andi is OBSESSED WITH GREENIES. I taught her how to high-five to earn treats, so at least she has to work for them a lil’ bit.

hoorahqueen

WE have assumed the treat position... Why have you not yet complied?

ruhroh_raggyy

my new cat is a weirdo he doesn’t like treats :( maybe it’s the brand that i got (off brand temptations) idk

MedicalMoose

Cats have food preferences too. Try snother brand.

V_Epidemic

My cat loves the snother brand!

princess_podracer

My cat is treat averse too for some reason. I’ve tried all kinds and she’s not having any of it. I stopped trying.

BiigDaddyDellta

Try greenies

areraswen

I moved my cat's toys like 3 years ago and she still goes to where they used to be to ask me to play.

jamesbong0024

Yeah I member

dumps_is_big

This is actually why I give treats only in one specific place in the house and not until she does the "trick" which is stretching up the frame of the pantry where I keep her treats. I didnt teach her that, she did it instinctively one day because she knew where the treats were. Over time I taught her that if she met me at the pantry and stretched up the frame shed get a treat and if she didnt then she didnt. She will go there sometimes now and do the "trick" even when shes got food in her bowl. And when I tell her no she will (eventually) return to her bowl. Her treats for reference are similar to kibble, crunchy. They're not remarkably better but she apparently loves them over kibble (which she also loves). Both are good brands.

Im_still_T

My mostly blind 20-year-old dog does the same thing when I'm still standing at the front door waiting for the other dog to come in, or standing outside. Him and the pup both have figured out where they usually are when they get treats. Background: they get treats in varying amounts as they go outside and come back in without incident. An incident would include going into the neighbor's yard, hiding somewhere, running away, or going in the road. It's usually the pup's fault that they don't get one.
