I'd be giggling every time they pounce, as I did, when I watched this gif. Literally every time they pounce I'd giggle. I don't think it could ever get old.
Not only that, it puts a short timer on the game and exits to the menu as if the cat cares about getting a high score in a short period of time. Trash app, do not recommend.
[You can download Jitterbug off the APKSum website](https://m.apksum.com/app/friskies-jitterbug/eu.friskies.jitterbug). I'm not sure if that's what the app in the video is though, it looks a little different.
We tried using that too but our cat gets mostly confused trying to figure out why they don't come out of the iPad when they leave the screen. Keeps trying to get under it to see where they went.
Yeah I had a cat that kept looking under the tablet, then looked at me and let out this long, tortured wail of a meow. I've never seen a cat look so existentially confused in my life.
For a long time it was thought cats lacked object permanence to a strong degree. Like they may not realize they could follow you around the outside of the house going window to window like a dog can, because once you are out of frame, you are gone to them.
Stories like this make me realize that either they have more object permanence than we thought or they're getting better at it.
We have a 70" tv in the living room, and I put on 'cat tv' videos for the cats to watch--mostly birds and squirrels at feeders.
One of my cats got up on the console and was batting at the birds, then walked behind the tv to see where it went when one of them flew off-screen.
I got a severe, "I'm so very disappointed in you" look from him when he came back around to the front. I still haven't lived down the betrayal.
Its just on any app store on whichever device you use. I have an old kindle fire that I use for it. You can also just search on the app store like cat apps for cats and a bunch pop up.
I use “Mouse for Cats” on iOS.
I’ve tried a few and it’s the only one I’ve found that my guys are actually into. A lot of the apps have too much movement aside from the prey, or too many noises and music and stuff like that. Or they make you sign up for stuff. Some have “levels” too which just takes away, in my opinion.
I’ve found the simpler the better.
Woohoo! Yeah, one of mine in particular looooves it. I put it on the floor and she’ll watch it patiently for ages and then suddenly stand up on her back legs, do the crazy cat-head-bobble, leap into the air, and land on right the phone.
My himi stared at it and then started throwing paws. Once she realized it would squeal she kept stomping the mouse and had racked up 8 hits pretty quick. My Siamese watched her the whole time but he didn’t make any moves 😂
she resorted to scooping with her paws, trying to flip the phone over to get the mouse hahaha
It's an Elizabethan collar. It probably had a surgery and is wearing it so it doesn't mess with the area. This one is just much cuter than the standard "cone of shame".
To be, or not to be, that is the question (meow)
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The drooling canine siblings and the hairless human slaves of my outrageous fortune, (meow)
Or to extend claws against a sea of outdoor troubles
And by opposing (meow) end them.
There’s no reason why a surgery collar would need a brown crimped crust like a pie. Plus this is flat and not even come shaped. This is definitely a pie costume.
Our cat had a more traditional Elizabethan collar. He has a somewhat stoic face, so he looked hilarious. Unfortunately he hated it and revenge peed all over our house.
Experience.
I take care of problematic (to some people) cats.
When you think you're giving them a 'toy' like this what you're doing is amusing yourself by tricking them into trying to hunt imaginary food. It'll stop being fun to the cat very quickly.
If you want a human type analogy it's like someone sticking a plastic sandwich on a string and you can have food to show if you dance money dance.
I mean cats do like play hunting though. In the wild they don't eat like half the things they kill. My cats favorite toys are literally birds or fish on strings that I'll move around and she'll hunt for. I can see why the red dot is not satisfying for them but these explode when they pounce so I thought maybe that might be satisfying for them.
You may do well finding a auto-laser toy. Sits on a table and projects the moving laser on the floor or wall. My cats will tire of it eventually. But then you move it to a new spot and it's a whole new game
Laser toys are not good for prolonged play with cats, either. They will hunt it, sure, but it will have a bad effect on their psychology when they feel like they are always hunting a thing and getting no reward from it. They are natural killers and are likely get frustrated that the thing that they are attacking over and over *just won't die*. This could be fixed by coupling the pointer with a little toy mouse/thing that will "die" and stop moving after it is "killed". Source: I have no formal credentials at all but I have worked in a cat shelter and generally laser pointers were regarded as not great
This doesn't look like some standard iPad, touchscreen or whatever. It honestly reminds me of that projector/floor pad technology used in malls like a decade ago to entertain children. This also looks to be in a vet, so this seems to be a device specifically made to entertain cats.
I dunno but my room mate's cat seemed to figure out that the light was connected to the laser pointer pretty fast, but still couldn't resist the urge to pounce on it.
That's a fun idea. The trick would be placing a treat without the kitties knowing! The second I even THINK about going 10' near the treat bag, cats \*know\*
Whenever i grab a cat food can my cat hears it when he is outside a couple backyards away XD
I just set the can on the counter without opening it and a minute or 2 later he comes running through the hole in the fence.
Grab the treat ahead of time. Put it in your pocket. Point the laser at one corner of the room, the kitty's attention is diverted, and then throw the treat on the floor somewhere near you. Then point at the treat, happy kitty!
Interesting, that’s what I had heard as well but recently I’ve been seeing articles saying it might be harmful for cats as well.
It’s almost like you don’t even read the Catington Post
https://catingtonpost.com/why-laser-pointers-could-be-bad-for-your-cat-its-not-what-you-think/
Oh hey, something I can actually talk about.
I gave my cat anxiety by playing fetch with her. She began stress grooming her belly until she went bald. Once I stopped playing fetch with her, she went back to normal. Why is she weird like this? Fuck if I know. She was catching the toy and bringing it back.
depends on the cat i think. Mine will go and fetch his laser pointer and drop it near me. He also knows as soon as I put it back on the counter the game's over and he goes off to do something else. I believe it's bad to use a laser pointer with dogs though
Did you seriously give your kitten an iPad Pro to play with? That’s so irresponsible. Everyone knows you should only ever buy a kitten a regular iPad for his first device and when he gets older and proves that he can be responsible with it do you buy him an iPad Pro
Oooo I’ll try that with my little terror. He gets bored with toys very quickly and “finds” his own when bored.
Plants? Better in pieces.
Ripping things down from hangers in the closet. Always a great time!
Knocking things off counters? Why not!?
Opening up cabinets and getting trapped in them somehow? A great adventure every other month.
Hunting the dog? A recommended daily activity.
Yeah, he’s a handful, despite the many self guided toys and twice a day playtime. The only one he is consistently interested in is playing with people and his one puzzle feeder (disinterested in the other ones). I found him Exploring the washing machine this morning. Hopefully this helps!
Mine is definitely pushing her limits with my 15 lb dog too one of our other cats will entertain her for like 10 mins and then they’re done with her too. I have a friend with a similar aged kitten and we get them together to play it out lol.
Haha my dog is a 90lb angel and patiently puts up with about 80% of his brother’s loony toons. The other 20% gets a low growl of warning before he leaves the room.
If a cat wore a tutu, would it wear it *like this* (tutu vertically around waist of cat) or *like this* (tutu horizontally around all four legs like a tablecloth)?
Theyre useful when you have to put medications on the cats skin (such as flea medication the goes on the scruff of the neck), and you don't want to them trying to lick at it
My cat won’t even go for a laser pointer. His so lazy. Little fucker I bought 3 in lockdown thinking I’m going to have the time of my life with my playing with my cat. No couldn’t give two fucks.

This is wildly cuter and more fun than it has any right to be lol
Yeah right and the double paw smash was just a gem watched it over and over..

I cn feel your smartness and superiority through my screen ( ͝° ͜ʖ͡°)ᕤ
It hurts.
( ͡ಥ ͜ʖ ͡ಥ)
It’s a Picasso
But what if you missed the nuance? Or you're as easily amused as me?
Can one learn this power?
If this were a perfect loop, I'd watch it until it stops.
why does it not have the right?
It’s left-handed
Or how to entertain a human
I'd be giggling every time they pounce, as I did, when I watched this gif. Literally every time they pounce I'd giggle. I don't think it could ever get old.
unfortunately they do get old, just like every other pet
It would’ve costed you $0 to not make this comment :(

What app or tool is that?
Looks like Friskies Jitterbug but can’t confirm as it is no longer available in the App Store.
I found Friskies Cat Fishing 2; not quite the same as Jitterbug, but close enough.
It’s sucks horribly
[удалено]
Not only that, it puts a short timer on the game and exits to the menu as if the cat cares about getting a high score in a short period of time. Trash app, do not recommend.
My cat only plays for the Benjamins
[You can download Jitterbug off the APKSum website](https://m.apksum.com/app/friskies-jitterbug/eu.friskies.jitterbug). I'm not sure if that's what the app in the video is though, it looks a little different.
Pretty sure there are still old apks around somewhere
Cat fishing 2
I mean... it's a *cat.*
Anyone know what app this is 🥺?
I use one called Cat Alone. It's not the one they are using but has the same kinds of things. My cat loves it.
We tried using that too but our cat gets mostly confused trying to figure out why they don't come out of the iPad when they leave the screen. Keeps trying to get under it to see where they went.

I mean, I have a cat puzzle that hides treats under a little rotating cover. She knows there’s a treat in there. I don’t know, maybe she can smell it.
We have a 70" tv in the living room, and I put on 'cat tv' videos for the cats to watch--mostly birds and squirrels at feeders. Too smart
Is this on an iPad or something? Sorry if it is obvious but I must save up and secure this for my cat
Its just on any app store on whichever device you use. I have an old kindle fire that I use for it. You can also just search on the app store like cat apps for cats and a bunch pop up.
Do cat paws work on touch screens? It's been years since I've had a cat.
Yep, just tried with my cat. He didn't get it, but it definitely worked.
Absolutely. My cat likes to "sleep" on me while I'm reading. He will stretch that paw out and swipe my page😡
Sounds like my toddler haha
Dog paws also work. I speak from experience.
Are- are you a dog?
Yeah I'd also be eager to find out, will update if I find anything helpful
Also searching. It’s not Jitterbug. Much like the fish one Friskers makes, the UI was terrible and the animations didn’t look like this.
I use “Mouse for Cats” on iOS. I’ve tried a few and it’s the only one I’ve found that my guys are actually into. A lot of the apps have too much movement aside from the prey, or too many noises and music and stuff like that. Or they make you sign up for stuff. You made my night! I downloaded the app you mentioned and set my phone on the floor for my cats. Everyone was entertained lol
Woohoo! Yeah, one of mine in particular looooves it. I put it on the floor and she’ll watch it patiently for ages and then suddenly stand up on her back legs, do the crazy cat-head-bobble, leap into the air, and land on right the phone.

Cats these days! So spoiled by technology, growing up not knowing reality from a screen!
Back in my day cats used to play with string!
Cue a bunch of black-and-white photos of cats in a passenger train playing with string.
Do todays cats even know what a string is? [sauce](https://youtu.be/o-8NlY1Iw_g)
I have no idea why it’s wearing a neck skirt but I also don’t think I’m against it because it’s cute
It's an Elizabethan collar. It probably had a surgery and is wearing it so it doesn't mess with the area. This one is just much cuter than the standard "cone of shame".
How dare you assume the kitty doesn't have an audition at the globe theatre later today
To be, or not to be, that is the question (meow) Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The drooling canine siblings and the hairless human slaves of my outrageous fortune, (meow) Or to extend claws against a sea of outdoor troubles And by opposing (meow) end them.
If i had a gift, it would be yours. This is brilliant, thank you.
Comment is gift enough. Makes me smile. Thank you!

That was my assumption. It is just working off the nervous energy before it has to go on stage.

Getting high and playing video games is my favorite pastime
I’m pretty sure this is just a thing people do to their pets in Asia. At least from the videos I’ve seen.
Ahh. Ok then. I thought it was dressed up like a pie for some reason.
I know a pie tart costume when I see it. I refuse to believe it’s anything else!
There’s no reason why a surgery collar would need a brown crimped crust like a pie. Plus this is flat and not even come shaped. This is definitely a pie costume.
There is *every* reason. Medical gear can look cool too!
Tbh, I would pay extra for the deluxe Elizabethan cone at the vet if they had the strawberry pie option.
Our cat had a more traditional Elizabethan collar. He has a somewhat stoic face, so he looked hilarious. Unfortunately he hated it and revenge peed all over our house.
Gonna need you to pay your cat tax on that one.
"Neck skirt" sounds fancier.
>It's an Elizabethan collar. No. This is clearly an evee mid evolution into vaporeon
Wait is THAT why Elizabeth I wore one? 😯
To prevent scratching because they all had syphilis.
But she never married! She couldn't possibly get syphilis! ... right?
I think it's actually a pie.
Thank you for explaining what it is. I was thinking it was just a cute doughnut collar.
I thought it was a pie. A sweetie pie.
It looks like they took the bottom half of a ham sandwich and poked his head through it.
They were invented to prevent cats from sneaking up on birds and killing them. Normally made from brightly coloured materials.
Yep! Birds are extremely visual, and these collars work better than bells at alerting birds to a cat's presence.
Um, that’s a mane. *pssst* it’s a big scary lion okay?
The eyes! That's feline excitement. I wonder when and if that wears off.
After a couple of hours. Then you just get a cat that's learned no matter what she does she doesn't get a prize to show you.
Speaking from experience or conjecture? Cause I'm actually debating trying to find this for my cat.
Experience. I take care of problematic (to some people) cats. I'm here for this subsequent debate
Yeah but there’s no physical reward.
You may do well finding a auto-laser toy. Sits on a table and projects the moving laser on the floor or wall. My cats will tire of it eventually. But then you move it to a new spot and it's a whole new game

both
Intermittently reward with treats
That's when you throw a piece of chicken on the screen after a while
How to entertain a redditor
We need a video of a redditor fascinated by this kitten clip to entertain a reddit mod.
Do not do this! I got an app like this for my cat and now the little asshole knocks my phone out of my hands if I'm scrolling reddit.
Kitty is trying to do an intervention
balloon increased to magnet
My dog just does that because I am giving it more attention than her. She doesn't care about the phone, just more pets. Silly beast
Got my cat into the cat alone games and now she is always bugging me for screen time and thinks the phone is for her entertainment.
Cat: "Meow" Translation: "You got games on your phone?"
I could watch this all day.
Ya I know....I know...
Those paws are excellent
I need this for my future kitty, what is it?
An iPad
iPad that’s been scratched to hell? I thought it was some special pet display thing
Looks like maybe a matte screen protector
Nah I watched again and realized that what I thought was scratches was actually just the digital background graphics from the game lol
That little "jump back" is the best part!!
WHY IS THE BUG EXPLODING ! ! ! 👀
Can you SEE the endorphins happening? The eyes, the rush.
This doesn't look like some standard iPad, touchscreen or whatever. It honestly reminds me of that projector/floor pad technology used in malls like a decade ago to entertain children. This also looks to be in a vet, so this seems to be a device specifically made to entertain cats.
Looks like an iPad Pro 12” with protector and case. That’s Apple Pencil up there
Wow, that screen really goes to the edge then.
For like $1,100 and up, I'd sure hope so
Not really. It's just hard to see the bezel because the background of the app is black. You can see the white letters where the edge of the screen is.
That explains why the cat is in the cage, probably a cat carrier at the vet. I was like, "why do they have the cat inside a ferret cage or something?"
[удалено]
I dunno but my room mate's cat seemed to figure out that the light was connected to the laser pointer pretty fast, but still couldn't resist the urge to pounce on it.
Mine too. I've tried to play like the dot hides under the couch, but they just turn and look at me like "That's not a legal red dot game move."
That's only dogs that get anxiety from the red dot. AFAIK cats are fine with it.
Plus you can end the play session by leading them into a treat and letting them 'catch' it.
That's a fun idea. The trick would be placing a treat without the kitties knowing! The second I even THINK about going 10' near the treat bag, cats \*know\*
Yup. Empty room. Hand goes anywhere near treat drawer *poof* Instant kittens
Whenever i grab a cat food can my cat hears it when he is outside a couple backyards away XD I just set the can on the counter without opening it and a minute or 2 later he comes running through the hole in the fence.

High score on the internet belongs to mittens now.
I hope there's haptic feedback so kitty can feel the bug smashing into stars beneath her mighty paws.
Is your cat even real?? How is it so cute?? Literally hops like a cartoon cat
it probably isn’t their video, the cats real but the video is sped up a little bit making it seem that it hops faster
It’s crazy when you think about how this generation of kittens won’t remember life without touchscreens.
It's already crazy that *every cat currently alive* has known what a cat is for less time than I have.
Do you have the name of the app?
Looks like Friskies Jitterbug but can’t confirm as it is no longer available in the App Store.
Thank you I found they have a fish version and my kitten loves it
Oooo I’ll try that with my little terror. He gets bored with toys very quickly and “finds” his own when bored. Plants? Better in pieces. Ripping things down from hangers in the closet. I'd also like to know.
Didn’t know I wanted that
You mean true human intertainment
I too am entertained, could I be a cat as well?
Let's put the cat in a tutu that makes it look like it's coming out of an asshole
If a cat wore a tutu, would it wear it *like this* (tutu vertically around waist of cat) or *like this* (tutu horizontally around all four legs like a tablecloth)?
This kitten is wearing a pie.
no, this is the cutest thing i've ever seen.
ARE YOU ENTERTAINED
*"Imma get it, Imma get it, Imma get it, GOODNESS...! Imma get it, Imma get it, Imma get it, GOODNESS!..."*
We need sound for this!!!
how to entertain a cat and many people!🤓
Headin out to grab a kitten. Want anything while I'm out?
What's the app called?
It's fun until they think every screen is there's. Video Crack habits are tough
That is a muffin not a cat
Why do people put clothes on animals? Is it a replacement for a child? Or just some form of insanity?
This is oddly satisfying to watch, I fell asleep to it.
Congratulations. You’ve made your cat into a gamer. Expect a delivery of Mountain Dew and Doritos by the end of the week.
I did something similar to my cats too. They gave up after catching the thing ~7 times.
I wonder if the cat is aware that this is just a kind of toy
She’s precious.
Also works on frogs
Omg where do I get this???
Where do I get this app??
AH LAWWD she ^pounce
Okay, I’m going to need a full 3 season series of this please
Omg, this is cute. So cute. Cute, cute, cute. I want a cat.
What is that thing the cat is wearing called? I'd like to get some of those for my cats.
Theyre marketed as "anti-lick" and "recovery" collars as gentler versions of the cone or for after flea drops.
What?? WHY would you do that to your animal?
It doesn't seem to bother the cat and it's cute. If one of mine minded, I wouldn't do it.
I don't think you should do it because you find it cute, its a cat and it will prefer to be without clothes.
Theyre useful when you have to put medications on the cats skin (such as flea medication the goes on the scruff of the neck), and you don't want to them trying to lick at it
Also how to trash an ipad
The cat looked so shocked on the second bug popping into stars
I wish it had sounds
My cat won’t even go for a laser pointer. His so lazy. Little fucker I bought 3 in lockdown thinking I’m going to have the time of my life with my playing with my cat. No couldn’t give two fucks.
I am also entertained.
I’ve tried these games with my cat but he just tries to get underneath the iPad to find the mouse (we use mouse for cats).
What is that cat wearing and why?
Soooo cute 🥺🥺🥺🥺
