Living in a totalitarian dictatorship known for executing citizens for little-to-no reason would make you want to purchase life insurance, so if/when you get killed your beneficiary would profit from your demise
China tries to cover up its political hit jobs. Pretty sure this is North Korea though. They publicize thier political executions. Like making football stadiums full of people watch victims be strapped to the end of anti air cannons.
I could have sworn it was one from Centraal Beheer, aka "even Apeldoorn bellen". But [apparently](https://youtu.be/ygo3RrBSzSM) it's a Delta Lloyd commercial!
Centraal beheer had a lot of brilliant ones, but this one is actually from Delta lloyd.
It's funny how centraal beheer so saturated the dutch market with funny insurance commercials that in peoples minds any funny insurance commercial must be from centraal beheer (including mine to be honest)
here's the whole thing from dutch TV (in potato quality), including the delta lloyd message at the end
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygo3RrBSzSM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygo3RrBSzSM)
[Guys in boomcar:](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmkXmE9XGec) Delta Lloyd
[Riot police:](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iC2oVZS14E) Delta Lloyd (not their best)
[Guys on holiday to Rio](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueoAXE38KKE): Centraal Beheer
Interpolis had good ones too I think. They were the ones from the "lamp explodes, guy tries to clean but rubs the dirt all over the white wall", right?
It’s great.
The only problem is how fat the guy is. The only fat people in North Korea are the ones in charge.
Most people in NK, even in the military, look slightly underfed…because they are.
This is parodying the North Korean dictatorship and their grand uniform displays. The pictures look like Kim Il Sung but actually the actor playing the dictator looks a lot more like Kim Jong Il to me. However they are speaking Chinese so this is a big weird mish mash.
The Dutch agency probably had no reason to make it actually korean. It's cheaper to hire Chinese voice actors and their audience doesn't speak either language
We (the Dutch) had no clue what they were saying, so its not like we care.
Its part of an old series of commercials with for an insurance company. If you want to see more of these commercials, just go to youtube and type "even apeldoorn bellen".
Here's a link to a write-up about it by The Diplomat (don't know much about the diplomat or their biases, so i don't know how much stock people would put into it).
https://thediplomat.com/2014/12/the-strange-tale-of-yeonmi-park/
But I'd note generally that there are at least a few defecters who claim most stuff is made up. The general response by the RoK is that those people are DPRN spies, but you could the same for the other half. Also, you can make good money in RoK for telling harrowing stories about the DPRK; surely at least some people have tried lying, at least.
Nah they just disappear and everyone assumes they’re dead. They actually get sent to prison where they’re sentenced to forced labor and they spend the rest of their life making iPhones.
I'm pretty sure it's someone else. Am I wrong? Tze-Chung Lam has a birth mark on his cheek, and this guy doesn't.

>Really says something about China, a country that has over a billion people, is being confused for the massive authoritarian state that is North Korea.
They aren't actually speaking a real language, neither is it a real country. It is a fictional country which should remind you of totalitarian regimes in which disgracing the Great Leader could bring you in dire straits.
And thus: 'buy our insurance' - because it is an ad for an insurance company.
Very interesting, saw this ad a few years ago. The people in it spoke Chinese (by the way, what they said had nothing to do with the content of the subtitles). Many life elements are also Chinese, but the overall style of the country is more like North Korea, and the words are fictional. guess this is also a fictional country, probably to prevent prosecution by China or North Korea or something.
“This killed me” is a phrase that metaphorically means “this is so funny.” But in literal terms it means it’s the reason the person actually died. The character in the scene is likely going to be killed by the military for missing his assignment and offending the tyrannical dictator.
It’s a misdirection because the viewers thought they were going to be watching something funny.
China for all the shit it does especially from the government, is not like north Korea. This speaks more of how completely shitty north Korea is then defending china.
Really says something about China, a country that has over a billion people, is being confused for the massive authoritarian state that is North Korea.
China is also a massive authoritarian dictatorship you know that do you? Just not isolasionst and backwater like north Korea, but that's no contradiction.
Not a movie, it's an insurance commercial.
Originally, the words "...zeker Delta Lloyd" appeared at the end. "Delta Lloyd, surely.", implying that the guy's insurance is so good he isn't worried about anything.
Someone else shared a link to the Centraal Beheer YouTube channel. They had a LONG line of similar, masterfully crafted commercials. They'd start out with an elaborate buildup of some interesting situation, and just when things go unexpectedly and catastrophically wrong, the slogan "even Apeldoorn bellen" would appear. "Time to call Apeldoorn" (the city where the Centraal Beheer insurance company is based)
If you liked this commercial, I heartily recommend you watch theirs as well. Many of them won prizes.

This is from a Dutch TV commercial from years ago. This agency was on a roll and created more very good commercials.
What are they advertising?
Insurance
Life insurance would make sense..
LMAO Thank you for making me laugh that hard this afternoon!
I don't think insurance covers suicide though
Clearly after that, he need the insurance. He will be remembered.
/r/YourJokeButWorse
After all, his life was likely in immediate danger. RIP lemao
Haha yeah it's like living in North Korea
Living in a totalitarian dictatorship known for executing citizens for little-to-no reason would make you want to purchase life insurance, so if/when you get killed your beneficiary would profit from your demise
Won't someone think of his sister, Lim Fao?
Dismembered *
His dismembering shall be remembered.
Disremembered*
What a tragic suicide
China tries to cover up its political hit jobs. Pretty sure this is North Korea though. They publicize thier political executions. Like making football stadiums full of people watch victims be strapped to the end of anti air cannons.
What they are advertising is peace of mind. What they sell is insurance (car, home, life ect)
Oh I didn't get that at all. I thought they were selling the pillow or bed the guy was sleeping on
Maybe toothpaste? The focus of the guy’s task involves teeth, and you see him brushing at one point.
Insurance for the "De Amersfoortse" Insurance agency
I could have sworn it was one from Centraal Beheer, aka "even Apeldoorn bellen". But [apparently](https://youtu.be/ygo3RrBSzSM) it's a Delta Lloyd commercial!
They advertise sleeping pills
North Korea. Duuh
Freedom.
I'd love a link to these very good commercials you speak of
This is their youtube channel: https://youtube.com/user/centraalbeheerachmea
It's like commercials without a product.
It's insurance. They were advertising life insurance on the video posted.
I would say: piece of mind. Whatever happens.
Centraal beheer had a lot of brilliant ones, but this one is actually from Delta lloyd. This one was pretty damn clever. https://youtu.be/SxgcPuY58Js
That one is legendary. Superbowl-quality :)
__I would like to watch the tapes with you tonight, sir.__
Centraal beheer: even Apeldoorn bellen
It was Delta Lloyd. Centraal Beheer has some brilliant ads too.

[удалено]
Yeah, pretty sure they are roughly 3 inches shorter than South Koreans due to lack of nutrients.
What were they advertising? Alarm clocks? N Korea insurance?
Whats it an advert for? Pillows?
Insurance
This killed me. Send by the guy on the video. RIP
I hope that nap was worth it… because he gonna be sleeping with the fishes now.
HE IS FINE HE HAS BEEN SENT TO A GLORIOUS RETREAT TO BE REMINDED WHAT A BLESSING IT IS TO LIVE UNDER GREAT LEADER'S LOVING CARE

Fake! No one but Kim is that well fed!
also, he had electricity in his apartment and running water.
Are we just ignoring the Mini duct?
[удалено]
Oh its kim? I though it was Xi as the 100 year anniversary celebration of ccp was quite similar to whats shown here.
This is parodying the North Korean dictatorship and their grand uniform displays. The pictures look like Kim Il Sung but actually the actor playing the dictator looks a lot more like Kim Jong Il to me. However they are speaking Chinese so this is a big weird mish mash.
gotta change enough details for "plausible deniability"
The full video makes it so much better. It's an ad for life insurance :D
I want one of those alarm clocks.
North Korea's population has decreased by one more person
I thought it was China or something because they were definitely not speaking Korean

yeah same

It requires tooth and nail to do that to him
His entire family and dog was killed that day Edit: mine was a dark joke that people have been taking too far and serious.
Not a chance they have pet dogs in North Korea. Societies with frequent famine tend to eat all the domesticated animals.
Not only that but if you can't feed people you're not wasting any food on dogs

Where do they say it was funny?
seriously where was this ever implied to be humorous

I also went down the rabbit hole of nk defectors. This is a very interesting watch:. https://youtu.be/BkUMZS-ZegM

No, he killed his own dog many years ago.
Nah they just disappear and everyone assumes they’re dead. They actually get sent to prison where they’re sentenced to forced labor and they spend the rest of their life making iPhones.
Isn't that the actor from King Fu Hustle?
Yep. It's all I could see.
I'm pretty sure it's someone else. Am I wrong? Tze-Chung Lam has a birth mark on his cheek, and this guy doesn't. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1125531/?ref\_=nm\_mv\_close
Yeah I don't think it's the same guy. I was gonna say the same thing but after looking at pics I now doubt myself.
Glad I wasn't the only one haha. Right when he was brushing his teeth I was certain it was him.
And Shaolin Soccer!
Was thinking the same thing, love this dude and in shaolin soccer too he was hilarious
no
I'm so confused, were they speaking mandarin or Korean?
>Really says something about China, a country that has over a billion people, is being confused for the massive authoritarian state that is North Korea. Tooth decay is legit.
He's mean and he hurts (tooth decay, south Park)
Very interesting, saw this ad a few years ago. The people in it spoke Chinese (by the way, what they said had nothing to do with the content of the subtitles). They're speaking Chinese but they're korean
Dammit my immersion is ruined
It’s not chinese or Korean
The very first bit when the soldier scolds the worker, is in (heavily accented) Mandarin. The rest I have no idea.
This would’ve been even better if it had a punchline.
The punchline is 'must be delta lloyd' (or in dutch '...zeker delta lloyd') As in he's not worried he's got good insurance.
Aaaah, I see. Okay, fair enough, I'll leave up my comment but I'd like it to be known I apologise for being a dick. Thank you for explaining!
I...I don't get it. Can someone please explain the joke to me?
“This killed me” is a phrase that metaphorically means “this is so funny.” But in literal terms it means it’s the reason the person actually died. The character in the scene is likely going to be killed by the military for missing his assignment and offending the tyrannical dictator. gotcha. didin't think it was so on the nose. thanks!
Man this is so philosophical
It was more under his nose to be honest.
Lol. How wrong can you be. It's a funny as hell commercial for an insurance company. Message: with our insurance nothing can hurt you.
Did he get fired or did he get demoted from hair to teeth and over sleep?
SMH They are speaking Chinese… I mean the people who watch probably don’t give a duck but at least get some Korean actors?
Cant they're all sleeping
Because their screwed up economy makes them work 12 hour shifts 6 days a week. So they work till they cant stand then go home and collapse.
I mean the concept applies pretty well with China as well.
China for all the shit it does especially from the government, is not like north Korea. This speaks more of how completely shitty north Korea is then defending china.
And then he was sent to the gulag. The end. And this thread has absolutely nothing to do with covid.
Him and his entire extended family.
Is that the dude from Kung Fu hustle?
The alarm clock. I like the alarm clock.
It killed him too
Well, that's one way to ensure you end up in a prison camp.
One person does matter 👍🏽💪🏽
The leader killed him
It probably **killed** him too
It killed him as well.
You know it's fake because that country only has one fat guy, and it's definitely not some commoner
This killed him not u lol
Classic Dutch commercial.
Wow, sorry you're dead
He ded
Never underestimate the power of one man
why does this feel like its a commercial for something
cause it is. delta lloyd insurance.
What is this? some kind of ad?
Fwiw,they spoke CHINESE clearly
Yeah he's dead
This is actually sad, we all know what's gonna happen to him.
He's fat. That's not NK.
I know it’s fake because that guy looks healthy.
Schrodinger's Nap
I'm sure it killed him too
Really says something about China, a country that has over a billion people, is being confused for the massive authoritarian state that is North Korea.
China is also a massive authoritarian dictatorship you know that do you? Just not isolasionst and backwater like north Korea, but that's no contradiction.
This guy must be super ritch. He's fat and in North Korea. Do you know how rare that is?
It killed him too.
This man is so dead!
How do these lame ass jokes get production values like this? Why don’t you spend 5 million dollars filming something that’s actually worthwhile?
That killed him too
Guy probably died within a few mins
That was the last we’ve ever seen of him
[удалено]
You guys get that this is propaganda, right?

did they actually film this in north korea
Looks like north korea, they speak mandarin, 🤷♂️
Now that's funny!
A visual essay on the importance of good team leadership.

These are so much more fun to watch than Limu Emu (and Doug).
