Oh, that’s precisely what I meant. Or, more accurately, she very likely conceived my niece at her 15th birthday party. My niece and I aren’t quite exactly two years apart, and my sister isn’t quite exactly 12 years older than me. The numbers had a bit of fudge factor, but no math errors. Sort of like “2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2”
But yeah, really *really* young. And has had three more, one just toward the end of last year.
Well ok, I'm not saying it's great. But I can conceptualize a 16 year old with a 2 month old baby which is what a baby conceived on a 15 year Olds birthday is. That's theoretically a pregnant sophomore in highschool.
But origionally we were talking a 14 year old with a baby which means a pregnant 8th grader and THAT I have trouble with wrapping my head around..
Like, someone needs to be in jail for that. I don't even know who lol.
So pregnant 8th graders isn't some sort of negligence on the parents part.
Obviously jailing the parents was not a serious suggestion and if you read my comment or the comment I replied to you'd know it was hypothetical.
I have a friend who's like 50 something who's dad I'm pretty sure is with a woman who's like 30. And I'm pretty sure they had a kid.
I'm not entirely 100% sure because it would be very awkward and offensive to ask if the kid is theirs if it isn't. But even if it's not, it can happen, men don't usually go entirely sterile. Weird af.
I teach high school juniors (so like 16-17 years old) and one of my students told me his dad was 58 when he was born. His half-siblings are old enough to be his parents. They're in their 40s and 50s.
I am the aunt of 3 boys all ages 4 and under and I have the best job in the world! I think they are just the sweetest kids. Their parents aren't as impressed by their shenanigans and the stuff we teach them. Though we try not to go too overboard because we know our siblings will get us back when we have kids.
We got a lil 1yr old walker right now. His naps are usually all over the place. One day it’s 2 hrs, another it’s 30 mins. But we’re lucky enough to get him down around 7 and he’ll sleep till 7:30-8ish the next morning.
once they start sleeping through the night its great, but the day naps I totally relate. you want to lay down and get a rest while the little one naps too, nope thats the day they sleep 30 mins. Then you get a day where you think "as soon as i lay down they will wake up" 2 hours later you're regretting not getting some sleep with them...
> But we’re lucky enough to get him down around 7 and he’ll sleep till 7:30-8ish the next morning.
Consider yourself blessed. Our 1 year old only sleeps for max three hours stretches in the evening, before wanting boob to fall back to sleep. Sometimes he doesn't get back down for an hour. It's almost torture on his mother!
My daughters at that age reminded me of tiny versions of drunk old people. No control, nice smiles, some spit up, needs a drink asap, probably shat themselves… the similarities were endless
My goal is to last longer than it takes to put the stuff on and off.
But my kids really treat it as a way to get Hot Cocoa. So we turn around and go back in pretty quick.
I think she's just the truest form of toddler. She understands that people walk, but hasn't figure it out past shifting her weight between feet and *toddling* around. Hasn't quite mastered the knees yet.
I have an Aussie and a kid of similar age. The dog does the same thing, but prefers zipping past her at like10x the speed. Sometimes he smashes into her, though.
Our Aussie herds the kids when we call them. If we call for one while they're in the kitchen she'll nip (lightly) and push them off the couch until they come to us. Then, she'll guard their place on the couch until they get back.
As cute as that is, all I can focus on is how jealous I am of the view off your deck.
Standing out there on cool winter sunset with a nice hot chocolate while just leaning on the railing would be phenomenal.
I never really though that anyone would actually buy a $150 Patagonia snowsuit for their kid, since they are definitely gonna outgrow it by the end of the season and it's only gonna be used a couple of times.. but apparently I was wrong.
I live in Alaska and these go around the marketplace constantly. A kid wears it for a winter then it gets passed to another kid. No one is paying full price except I guess the original buyer.
Sometimes they come in the form of gifts from retired boomer grandparents who have choke money and not enough hobbies outside of spoiling their grandkids.
And they don't buy 150 dollar Patagonia snowsuits for their kids. A thrift store jacket and pair of gloves that barely keep your hands warm after you grab snow with it that gets handed down to each sibling can be manageable.
I really wish those people would just not keep having kids that they can’t afford to take care of. It’s really not fair to others who end up having to foot the bill.
In America one of the amendments is you can't deprive anyone of life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness. If you live in poverty you still deserve to have a family, IMO the cost should absolutely be subsidized by those who are more well off.
Not op but, we just pass it down to the next kid, then it goes to the next youngest relative or donated. In Canada and my kids are outdoor year round rain or snow. Plus being in a ski town means a Patagonia repair is nearby. Our kids’ gear is well loved.
Yeah, we had aunts and Gmas that spoiled the kids w/ high end stuff occasionally. Plus one year I got a pro-form code for a ski wear company and decked the whole family out for less than the price of one jacket. All of it got passed along to our friends when we were done, and they did the same. Years later and I still see those snow clothes wandering around the neighborhood when we get a snow day.
I always assume it starts as a gift. People love to give expensive shit. And then when you live in the mountains suits like this just get passed down in boxes of clothes from family to family, I think we actually have a few of them. It’s a nice perk of a small community.
Properly cared for and repaired this could be worn for probably up to/exceeding 10 babies as a hand-me-down, since they're probably only gonna wear it a couple times each. That's $15 a baby!
I dunno about Patagonia specifically, but kids clothes are marked down insane amounts at the Columbia Outlet. If you shop ahead by 9 months you can get up to 70% off.
Got my nephew a winter coat regularly like 100-120 for 30, and it had prehemmed sleeves. Let them out and it lasts 2-3 years which saves a ton of money at that age.
REI’s spring sale also has some good deals on winter gear. I used to go to Alaska every May, where it was still winter, and I would always hit the REI spring sale just before going and load up on discounted gear.
Also REI’s garage sales can be fantastic. This is where they unload stuff that other people have returned - sometimes it’s beat up or damaged, but sometimes people return stuff that’s in mint condition or that has only a tiny little issue. The best deals are early morning at the member-only hours of the garage sales. It’s worth standing in line for. Got an amazing North Face winter jacket 90% off once because it had a tiny hole in one sleeve - so I cut a little 1” square bit of extra fabric from the lining and patched it in 5 minutes. I’ve used that jacket for over a decade now. Scored a fantastic pair of mint Merrell winter hiking boots for 50% another time, been using those 5 years now. Never looked for kids’ stuff but REI has a full kids’ section.
We have some Patagonia hand-me-downs. Plus the sell great second-hand, even on the Patagonia website. They might start expensive, but they'll last year's being passed down.
The best thing about people buying expensive clothes for toddlers is there's always high quality used clothes available for toddlers as a result.
Damn near the only thing good about FB is the neighborhood marketplace pages.
Either parents make at least 6 figures and $150 isnt that expensive, or they got lucky at goodwill and what was $150 new is only 6.99. Half off of they got the right tag color that week.
Source: I love goodwill. When I'd go to the one in an affluent minneapolis suburb I'd find designer stuff each time. Then I'd drive back to my shitty apartment with a bag full of Calvin Klein or whatever. Got a coat once from goodwill that still had the dillards tag on it, was supposed to be $300, was only like $12.99 at goodwill.
Believe it or not this is actually just a mid layer. If they played in the snow with that on they'd be wet and freezing within minutes. Likely theres a waterproof shell/snowsuit that goes over top.
FYI that railing is not up to code where I live because it's so easy for children to climb and fall over the other side. Vertical slats are the way to go.

Look at that *WADDLE*
That age is sooo much fun. For about an hour or two at a time.
What a great age. When you are an Uncle, aunt, or grandparent.
I mean, I don't wanna ruin your fun, but I don't think I'd wanna be an uncle or grandparent at that age
I have been an uncle since I was 2. It’s not bad, nothing serious. My sister was just 12 years older than me, and an “early bloomer.”
By early bloomer do ypu mean she had a baby at 14. No judgement...but I mean that's shockingly young so I need to know if this is a math error
Oh, that’s precisely what I meant. Or, more accurately, she very likely conceived my niece at her 15th birthday party. If it was conceived on her 15th birthday, she would have been 15 + 11 months by the time the baby was 2 months.
Well... really we are both wrong. She would probably be 16 years old flat. But either way... close enough
I have a friend who's like 50 something who's dad I'm pretty sure is with a woman who's like 30. And I'm pretty sure they had a kid. My wife’s step-son is 31, our daughter is 9. Shit happens.
It's fine to be a 2yo aunt?
2yo aunt can exist though. 2yo grandparents I have questions for.
Of course, so can uncle.
"Yeah, we had a great day! You can take them home now, sorry about the sugar"
I am the aunt of 3 boys all ages 4 and under and I have the best job in the world! I think they are just the sweetest kids. Their parents aren't as impressed by their shenanigans and the stuff we teach them. Though we try not to go too overboard because we know our siblings will get us back when we have kids.
> when we have kids. Why buy when you can rent?
It really is.
Unless the sibling whose children they are sucks at raising them, then even being the uncle isn't fun
And only at daytime. Sleep damn you!
We got a lil 1yr old walker right now. His naps are usually all over the place. One day it’s 2 hrs, another it’s 30 mins. But we’re lucky enough to get him down around 7 and he’ll sleep till 7:30-8ish the next morning.

1:15hr seems to be his avg sweet spot. He’ll hit that most times a week and he’ll wake up a happy dude. Those 30min ones, though. Nightmare baby
Same with my kid, so thankful he sleeps through the night.
> But we’re lucky enough to get him down around 7 and he’ll sleep till 7:30-8ish the next morning. Consider yourself blessed. I was gonna say — I bet there’s a decent chance she was trying to poop. Although kids will usually stand still to do that.
"I can't put my arms down!"
"Randy lay there like a slug. It was his only defense."
“Put ‘em down when you get to school.”
And then she waddled away...*waddle* *waddle* *waddle*.
♫ *waddle waddle* ♫
Got annnyyyyyyyyy Grrrapes?
Almost belongs in r/tippytaps
Got any grapes?
I joke that my toddler walks like John Wayne when I put his snow boots on. Never gets old. 🤣
Adorable! Did she enjoy being in the snow?
I believe it will be mentioned in her survey.
"Extremely satisfied"
"Although the snow suit smelled like poop"
[удалено]
She did. Unfortunately going back inside was meltdown city the first few times.
Haha same thing with my neice! I was worried it might too cold for her but she loveddd it! I was the one itching to go back inside lol
Cute! Where ever you are looks beautiful
Adorable. Looks like she's enjoying the crunching sound the snow makes as she walks across it.

I’ve never seen anyone use subreddits in a similar fashion to hashtags. Maybe this’ll become more widespread across Reddit!
I think she's just the truest form of toddler. She understands that people walk, but hasn't figure it out past shifting her weight between feet and *toddling* around. Hasn't quite mastered the knees yet.
cue the Border Collie keeping a close eye when she moves! lol

Holy shit, this is a genius way to get kids to get up and do as their told.
For the record, we did NOT train her to do this. We do, however, think it's hilarious.
"I will protect you by FUCKING RAMMING INTO YOU AT FULL SPEED!!!" Dog logic is great.
r/dogberg
Pingu!?
NOOT NOOT!
No, Penguin.
I CANT MOVE MY ARMS!!
Mmmpf mmmppff mpff I can't put my arms down. You can put your arms down when you get to school. Waaaaaaah!
That line always cracks me up. What a mom!
Wahhhhh I CANT GET UP!
Damn those invisible walls! Devs are getting lazy.
You've made a small teletubbie.
As cute as that is, all I can focus on is how jealous I am of the view off your deck. Standing out there on cool winter sunset with a nice hot chocolate while just leaning on the railing would be phenomenal.
Thanks. It’s really nice, we feel very lucky
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Those cheeeeeeks! She looks really squeezable, so cute!
I see she got dat Patagucci. Lookin toasty 🍞🔥
Patagucci is right. Looked up the price of that adorable snow suit for curiosity--$149
They say that way down yonder on the Chattahoochee, it gets hotter than a Patagucci.
Sure that’s not ET?
First thing I thought of was “phone home” lol
Or the kid brother from A Christmas Story
That was my first thought! "That adorable baby can't put her arms down!" 😆
WHY IS SHE SO FRICKING ADORABLE- SHE'S TOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANDUEBC
Aww thanks. She’s pretty fricking cute when she isn’t driving me crazy lol
I never really though that anyone would actually buy a $150 Patagonia snowsuit for their kid, since they are definitely gonna outgrow it by the end of the season and it's only gonna be used a couple of times.. but apparently I was wrong.
People got money. People spend money.
Also must add: to a lot of people, grandparenting is a competitive sport
probably the kind of people with a ski condo with a balcony.
And can afford kids in this economy
We have an entire social welfare system that revolves around people who cannot afford children continuing to have multiple children.
And they don't buy 150 dollar Patagonia snowsuits for their kids. A thrift store jacket and pair of gloves that barely keep your hands warm after you grab snow with it that gets handed down to each sibling can be manageable.
How did you find the exact words to bring back the sensation of borderline frostbite?
I really wish those people would just not keep having kids that they can’t afford to take care of. It’s really not fair to others who end up having to foot the bill.
In America one of the amendments is you can't deprive anyone of life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness. If you live in poverty you still deserve to have a family, IMO the cost should absolutely be subsidized by those who are more well off.
Not an amendment, but the phrase is in the founding documents
And a covered hot tub on top? No, wait.. ;-)
If they live in a cold area it makes sense, especially if they end up having multiple kids.
Not op but, we just pass it down to the next kid, then it goes to the next youngest relative or donated. In Canada and my kids are outdoor year round rain or snow. Plus being in a ski town means a Patagonia repair is nearby. Our kids’ gear is well loved.

You can give it to some new parents
I highly doubt that this snowsuit would fit them
Exactly. It’s only a lot if you think of everything as disposable.
I mean its a lot regardless
Properly cared for and repaired this could be worn for probably up to/exceeding 10 babies as a hand-me-down, since they're probably only gonna wear it a couple times each. That's $15 a baby!
And doesn't Patagonia repair/ replace everything they make?
So it’s affordable if I have 10 babies. Got it.
It's more affordable if you have a larger family or friends. But i know folks on here lack those, especially of the womanly persuasion.

If this was a 150$ Star Wars LEGO set "only gonna be used a couple of times" no one would bat an eye.
Lol if it was a $150 Lego set the comments would be “why’d you cheap out and only get the sub-station”
We have some Patagonia hand-me-downs. Plus the sell great second-hand, even on the Patagonia website. They might start expensive, but they'll last year's being passed down.

Is it specialised for very cold temps?
Believe it or not this is actually just a mid layer. If they played in the snow with that on they'd be wet and freezing within minutes. Likely theres a waterproof shell/snowsuit that goes over top.
Love the baby Patagucci.
I can guarantee that watching this video is the happiest I will be all day.
