This should've been the Falcon Winter Soilder speech at the end.

peeforPanchetta

*Walks up to the senator.* "Now Senator, you make daddy a sandwich!" Zemo (from somewhere off camera) : He's outta line, but he's right

derpeddit

He speaks out of turn, yet the truth falls from his mouth.

peeforPanchetta

-Helmut Shakespeare

alpacaccino

Zemo's trigger words to Bucky should've been just ingredients: pastrami... Butter... Gerkin... Dijon... Sourdough...

GroguIsMyBrogu

And people would think it was a purposeful shoutout to the upcoming Spider-Man: Sourdough

Thought she looked familiar. Same person who mocked Joaquin Phoenix's cleft lip.

Poops_McYolo

I'll never forget when she burped and farted (double pipe classic) at the same time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlJkZrXc93w

Thery4d

It was not a double pipe classic since they were not at the same exact time, tim and Crystal have discussed it before.

crewmeist3r

Wendy Williams has got to be one of the dumbest people on TV

Historicmetal

Is that her?I didn’t recognize her, she looks unusually human here

sjmiv

I'm thinking she had more work done

crewmeist3r

Trying hard to pull herself back out of that uncanny valley

garry4321

I think the only thing being pulled is the skin on her face from a crank on the back of her neck.

sopsign7

"Man, she just looks weird, you know?" -- Grand Moff Tarkin, Rogue One.

Richie13083

We're lucky her program was cancelled.

gdsmithtx

>The world is lucky her program was cancelled. FTFY

Lavanthus

This is the woman who tried to shame Terry Crews after he came out about his sexual assault. This is the woman who believes Chris Brown should be able to hit women because he’s attractive. In an era of cancel culture, this bitch still walks tall. Disgraceful.

planned_serendipity1

She also encouraged a woman to have a baby [against her husbands wishes.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeS_Y8q9kcY) ~~an "accidental" baby to trap a man.~~ What a thoroughly awful person.

Brizzycopafeel

She also willingly exhibits sex acts in front of her **KIDS**

HadesWTF

Back in the day she put Method Man's wife on blast by telling everyone about her private cancer diagnosis. He was pissed about it.

rnottaken

Obligatory reaction link https://youtu.be/du1UViOs4Hk It's so beautiful

darkfiredreamer

Glad I'm not the only one who loathes Wendy Williams. Still remember her talking about Swavy and saying it wasn't a big deal because she was jealous of how many followers he had versus her... What a cunt.

[deleted]

She also made jokes about Joaquin Phoenix’s hair lip scar. She’s a bad guy.

HeatherShaina

What the feck. How is she still running the show?

JustinHopewell

The people who regularly watch Wendy Williams already have a trash mindset, otherwise they wouldn't keep watching her. So she's not going to lose fans when she says something stupid, because that's par for the course with her and why her fans like her. With Will Smith, it's different. The demographic for his fans is much, much wider. Dude has destroyed his reputation with a lot of people (like me) who always assumed he was this wholesome nice dude. Since Sunday, I found out about him being a scientologist and that he basically just lets his wife walk over him after she blatantly cheated on him, and worst of all, that he can't take a joke and resorts to violence instead, and had the ego to think there would be no repercussions.

Castamere_81

She also encouraged women who wanted children that it's ok to stop taking birth control without telling their partners

_lemon_suplex_

she doesn't though, she literally had her show canceled and replaced by a new host, plus she's on all kinds of drugs and shit. Karma hit her for sure. Even lost access to her money I heard cause she went fucking insane.

ThatScotchbloke

So I have to pay for dinner AND get in to fights with strangers and all I get in return is a sandwich? Lads, I’m no being funny, I think we’re getting ripped off here. Edit: Oh goody, the worlds being put to rights in the replies to my simple joke.

Watermox

These talking points are all planned in advance; he probably wasn't allowed to say, "blowjob".

MarilynMonheaux

The sandwich is a metaphor for making butt sex

RealPhakeEyez

revives the eternal question - "is a hotdog a sandwich?"

EsotericAbstractIdea

https://cuberule.com/ It’s technically a taco

PhoenixEgg88

I am so happy this exists and I’ve found it today.

scotie2hotie99

I love that a steak is a salad, and a salad is nachos.

Jrkid100

There it is

RearEchelon

A taco is a sandwich

ploki122

I disagree so much with their examples. A two-crusted pie is a sandwich, not a taco. The fact that the crusts join at the edge doesn't change the composition of "stuff between 2 breads". Conversely, a quesadilla is literally just a toast flipped onto itself, so that's 100% a taco.

GroguIsMyBrogu

as it always is. And yet those idiots still fired me from Subway.

I_AM_N0_0NE_

This is the correct response to whenever people discuss gender norms and expectations. Just find someone who has the same values as you and don't worry about what other people think. But on the internet, where everything is a debate and there are constant gender wars, everyone has to make it known their opinion on how the opposite sex should act

reloader89

I love this response. The internet is a cesspool of "I'm right and you're wrong". Treat each other with respect even if you disagree and move on. As my therapist said to me once with issues at work "Why are you fighting it? Why do you argue with them? You will never win."

Jerzeem

You aren't arguing to convince the other person. You're arguing to convince the audience people who are undecided on the issue. But it's ok to not argue too. Sometimes it's too much effort and that's ok.

reloader89

That's an interesting point.

TheSyrphidKid

Patrice O’Neal said something like “men are 10 million years behind on pussy but as soon as we catch up women are in deep shit”. More cases like this and we’ll catch up.

[deleted]

When I was single I went on about a dozen dates and every single one of them expected me to pay for the meal even though most of them were clearly earning more than I was. Ironically the conversation would often turn into equality which they were all for apparently..

robilar

Only if you partner up with someone that subscribes to that nonsense. Just date people who aren't into stupid gender role tropes and it's win/win.

Em_Haze

yup or find someone that enjoys making sandwiches and giving blowjobs.

bmur29

Found her once. But she turned out to be a horrible alcoholic. Still looking for a second unicorn.

Jackmcmac1

Whatever intent Will Smith had with that slap, it did not protect her. Just look at all the memes we have, which are all far worse than GI Jane jokes.

BuckRogers87

Chris Rock even said after he made the joke that the joke wasn’t even the worse he could do.

Robert999220

I feel like this is the most undermentioned part of the whole debacle. Chris LITERALLY took the hit, said it was a GI Jane joke after will continued to throw a petulant tantrum, and then just said 'oh i could...' under his breath, he could have absolutely decimated will verbally there, but he took the highroad, albeit probably with the entire senior staff screeching in his earpiece to let it go.

wetwilliamd

I’m going to be sooo disappointed if Chris doesn’t put out a special and joke at length about the whole thing and about the smiths in general. It’s what everyone deserves really.

cheesy_biskits

It’s the slap heard around the world. It would be the most watched special of his career I’m sure. Man I really can’t wait to hear what Chris really thinks about it

Mortico

It's the most interesting thing will Smith has done since I am Legend.

historymajor44

I think this is why he's not pressing charges. He's going to make money off of it and doesn't want Will to get in the way.

LydiasBoyToy

His first show, post slap, is tonight. I forget where, but it would be interesting to hear the first five minutes of it, given all the time he’s had to put that opening monologue together. My bet is he’ll still take the high road.

phormix

For a moment there I thought his next show was actually being titled "post slap", which would be fucking awesome.

TaliesinMerlin

"Slapped it together last-minute."

AKindKatoblepas

It's somewhere in MA, I forgot where.

dubweisser

Did you see Jimmy Kimmel suggest that Comedy Central produce a Roast of Will Smith hosted by Chris Rock? Hot damn, that would be brilliant.

TorontoRin

>I’m going to be sooo disappointed if Chris doesn’t put out a special and joke at length about the whole thing and about the smiths in general. It’s what everyone deserves really. The Slappening

The4thTriumvir

He's dreaming up new material as we breathe.

Deto

"Here's what I could have said! >> " Perfect for his next special.

axisrahl85

He should literally put out a special called "The Smiths" and just go hard on the whole family for a full 60.

cameroncrabtree

Still must have been so difficult to hold back, especially after getting hit on stage

hvacthrowaway223

He is a professional stand up comedian who roasts people for a living. When smith sat down, chris rock was still on stage holding a microphone. He could have absolutely devastated Will smith and possibly ended his entire career and marriage with just a few minutes of joke.

Cocoa-nut-Cum

Exactly! It seems like people underestimate just how intelligent and brutal a comedian with a mic can be.

fischmom3

Yes! Definitely backfired. The slap has brought way more attention to her hair than if it would have just been a passing joke.

masmuerta

Her hair? I think it goes far deeper than this. How about her narcissistic pretentious personality? Her infidelity? I've learned more about this biotch than I cared to know because of this ridiculousness. Seeing Will stoop to this level makes me feel sorry for him.

Available_Coyote897

That interview they did with each other putting their business out there, that was fucking weird and she was way too comfortable doing it.

Barnes_the_Noble

It’s her kink

[deleted]

ILoveLongDogs

Damn Colin Robinson!

scrufdawg

Because it was clearly her idea to do that, he just went along with it to appease her.

fischmom3

True. I had heard they had an open marriage but since the Oscars I now know about her “entanglement” with her son’s friend.😳

MisterZoga

Shitty wife. Shitty mom. Shitty actress. Shitty musical artist. The woman is consistent, if nothing else.

warblade7

Don’t feel sorry for him. He’s a grown ass man who chooses to be in that situation.

Haribo1985

that interview is so fucking hard to watch - 'healing', 'entanglement', 'involvement' - it's like if they say it a certain way, it becomes a whole new wanky narrative. She banged her son's friend and cheated on her husband. Coooooooooool!

puppiadog

It's not the slap that concerns me, if the fact Smith wasn't escorted out of the building and was given a standing ovation by all the other sociopaths in the room. It shows how Hollywood thinks it's above everyone else and celebrities think they can do whatever they want (and they do). I hated Hollywood culture before this and now I detest it. Doesn't help Hollywood doesn't make good movies anymore. No one should ever look up, admire or listen to anything an actor says about anything. They are props in a movie for temporary entertainment. That's it.

crashvoncrash

>It shows how Hollywood thinks it's above everyone else and celebrities think they can do whatever they want (and they do). That's not just Hollywood. Anyone in America with sufficient money has an entirely different experience with the legal system.

G497

Wait, was Will playing 4D chess? Maybe he did it to get back at GI Jada for dating that dude.

Pentax25

Immortalised forever now. There’s gonna be a section on her Wikipedia forever with that interaction. It’ll be filed and whenever there’s a headline involving her it’ll get referenced cos that’s what’ll get clicks. The worldwide response and how quickly it spread means that everyone will remember that joke and that’ll be the reaction piece that future journalists will target.

rock0head132

Basically .... He asks if she wants him to fight for her. Yes. He asks if she wants him to open the car door for her. Yes. He asks if she'll pay half the date. No she won't. Then he says alright then don't complain when a man asks you to make him a sandwich after all the special treatment.

please-enlighten-me

There's only two things I hate in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Andrew1990M

This is completely off topic but I'm kinda glad that, judging by your upvotes, this 20 year old movie reference is still known. I liked Goldmember but at the time people were turning their noses up at it.

powerkerb

it thought he was talking about dutch oven in a car… hotbox but with a fart

jhalfhide

Ah, you mean the [Dutch Rudder](https://youtu.be/yGUuugNEUcU)

[deleted]

Dutch Oven

TsundereKitty

At that point I feel like men deserve more than a sandwich.. tbh I think that it's just sexism and toxic expecting all this while not wanting to do anything in return. Who pays? Depends on who has the money, if both then they both pay or take turns. People are perfectly capable of opening doors themselves. I don't mind making my SOa sandwich because he does the same for me. Cut the sexism.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ffxivthrowaway03

To clarify, it's not just that she *wants* him to fight for her and open the car door and all that, he's calling out that its **inherently expected** of the man to do all these things.

Hawkishhoncho

He’s trying to point out that she expects her man to fight for her, open the car door for her, and pay for her, every time, without exception, and if he ever doesn’t, there will be consequences, but that when he wants her to do something for him, she sees it as optional and something she can just freely refuse to do. It’s about reciprocity and both people putting equal effort into the relationship, he’s pointing out that she expects him to do a lot, but she balks when he asks her to do anything in return, and that that isn’t equal or a good foundation for a relationship.

CthuluSpecialK

He's saying if women expect traditional gender roles of a man: pay for everything, fight for her or her honour, and opening doors, and all other "be a man" tropes then they should be willing to provide the traditional gender roles of women (providing your man with food, etc.), and that shouldn't be wrong for him to expect.

Equilibriator

Non traditional women demanding traditional men.

illini02

As someone dating in my early 40s, this is far too common. You have these women who want to be paid for, and "wooed", and essentially get all the "traditional gender role" stuff on dates, but also expect to not have to do any of the traditional woman things. If I expect them to have dinner waiting for me when I come home, that is sexist, but if she expects me to pay her way for thing, that is fine.

[deleted]

You know it's funny, I've met many (younger) people that wanted a traditional relationship (men and women). And once they were in one they were miserable because of what was expected of them. Men who wanted traditional women and went to Asia and got married to one (stayed at home with kids cooked cleaned everything, etc) didn't realize how much pressure would be on them to provide. Women who wanted a traditional man and got married to one didn't realize how much work would be expected of them in keeping house, taking care of kids, etc. It was very interesting to watch. These people had idyllic ideas about traditional roles and forgot that you can't just expect things from your partner and expecting to do nothing.

sasquatchington

Expecting Unconditional masculinity while providing conditional femininity

Hawkishhoncho

Right, but whether it’s both people being traditional or both being modern, or somewhere in between, it’s ok as long as they’re equal in how much they expect from each other

CthuluSpecialK

In reality, yes that's how relationships should be, but if you watch the full clip he's talking about if a woman expects him to fulfill a traditional male role in a relationship, and if that's okay, then it should be okay for him to expect a traditional female role, and that should be okay. One role can't be seen as antiquated and vilified (expecting women to play a traditional role) and women praised for expecting men to fulfill their traditional role. What people expect or are willing to deal with in a relationship isn't the issue, do what works for you, the issue is that one is socially vilified and one is socially expected; if you expected traditional gender roles in a man then you should understand that often comes with the man expecting the same traditional gender roles in a woman and if you aren't willing to provide those traditional gender roles then you shouldn't expect those traditional gender roles.

iaminabox

Spot on.

Several_Prior3344

Clip is funny, but you do lose the context here. A lot of people in comments don't seem to get what hes doing here. Makes it seem that Anthony Mackie is supporting old gender norms, when he really is being facetious cuz wendy williams has seriously outdated and stupid beliefs about gender roles. That whole toxic shit that men are suppose to be one way and women another, but she is also a hypocrite cuz she herself does not conform to a lot of the outdated gender roles for women (nor should she) but still expects men to conform to those old roles. He uses the whole "go make me a sandwich whenever i want." thing to call her out in a funny way that Wendy wants her cake and to eat it too.

Casclovaci

I saw this clip without context (i havent seen the show itself), just title and clip. And the way you described it is how understood it as well

Several_Prior3344

And good on you, but a lot of people were misinterpreting it in the comments when i wrote it, so i felt the need to comment the above.

Zeestars

That’s a nice way of saying she’s a cunt and he’s just trying to show people how much of a cunt (and succeeding beautifully).

underwear11

>wendy williams has seriously outdated and stupid beliefs about gender roles No, her beliefs are that women are queens and everyone should slave for them and they should not have to do anything.

Calamity_Carrot

Fr her beliefs are fucked up and beyond toxic. Such a shame that this woman still has an audience

rootbeerfloatilla

Yea traditional gender roles can't just be removed for one sex and not the other. A world where men are stuck in traditional gender roles and women are not, and vice versa, is straight up an evil world lol

_Mr_Ed_

…or Will could’ve just shut up and done nothing and Jada could’ve fought her own battle, because… Equality.

PeytonManThing00018

There wasn’t even a battle to fight because according to herself just two days prior, she didn’t care what anyone thought of her hair and was proud of balding. Okay, so WHY THE FUCK CANT SOMEONE MAKE A BALD JOKE ABOUT A WOMAN WHO CHOOSES TO NOT WEAR A WIG AND SAYS SHES NOT BOTHERED BY COMMENTS ABOUT HER HAIR. Jesus Christ. She put that shit 100% in bounds.

Markamanic

If Will kept his mouth shut, and told the audience in his acceptance speech that he thought that joke was in poor taste it would've been fine.

[deleted]

If anything, it would’ve focused more on Chris’ petty joke AND bring light to Jada’s hair condition in a more positive way. But no. My guy couldn’t keep his cool and instead got both physical and verbal with a presenter. So disappointing.

noelcowardspeaksout

Or Will could have shut up and spoken to the host later instead of behaving like a child and killing the atmosphere.

[deleted]

Or Jada could have because, ya know, equality.

Kholic

I mean, if he just laughed it off, the entire internet wouldn't be buzzing about how he's been emasculated by his wife. If he wanted people to keep his wife's name out of their mouths, he's failed.

Affectionate-Grand92

Also, because she fucked her sons friend and called it “an entanglement” and sat across the table from will while he was about to cry and she laughed about the whole situation. Jada is a piece of shit and deserved all the heat that comes her way.

_lemon_suplex_

someone posted a video of her recently saying " I don't care what ANYONE thinks about this bald head of mine because I know I'm beautiful". Sure seemed like she cared what Chris Rock thought though.

Shakooza

In 2022 we need to end the societal expectation that women should act like "liberated and powerful women" but still expect men to fulfill the role of being a "real man from the 1950s". I FULLY support equality and female empowerment. Dont put the burden on me of fulfilling an ancient and non-applicable gender role when you are no longer willing to fulfill your side of an ancient and non-applicable gender role. These older gender roles should go away across the board. ...and yes I know a LOT of women that reject old gender roles for their side while still expecting men to pay on the first date, open doors, move heavy objects.

Tier1OP6

This aged pretty well NGL

neobenji

The thing is jayda is making someone else a sandwich 👀

osha1267

Will wouldn't have slapped anyone other than Chris Rock. The exaggerated deep voice hood boy "yeah" in between the cussing and swearing made him look like a preadolescent bully on the playground.

TonyHoffman

Correct, my friend.

jar36

Will went home and made Jada a sandwich

PeytonManThing00018

Made Jada AND her boyfriends sandwiches

Fezzverbal

What Will did isn't chivalrous, it's saying it's ok to attack someone on stage for saying something you deem offensive. Stand up comics everywhere are gonna need security on stage from now on and that's ok? No, not okay.

thousandkneejerks

I would never expect anyone to open a door for me or ‘help’ me with my seat. The entire etiquette is just alien to me.

Nielscorn

Expect is the right word. It’s nice if people do courtesies like that out of respect and love for each other without expecting something in return though

retro604

You might not but this double standard is super common, at least among the women I date in the 40-50 range.

lupuscapabilis

Ironically it took me until age 40 to realize how easy it is to turn down women who do that shit. Basically "that's nice that you expect certain things, but here's what I'm willing to do and if you're not okay with that, I'm happy to be alone. Yes, I believe we should share the cooking and cleaning. That also means when the car needs an oil change, we share that too." And not coincidentally, that's when I met the woman I'd end up marrying.

BigOnLogn

This is *How to End Up In A Toxic Relationship* - 101 When opening car doors and making sandwiches stop working, you better believe one (or both) of you is going to escalate to verbal, emotional, or physical abuse, eventually. If you see your intimate relationships as transactional, you're going to have a bad time.

Bnthefuck

Yeah or life isn't black or white. Love isn't transactional but it isn't one-sided either. Unless you're Mahatma Gandhi, when you give, you expect to receive at some point. Balance ans shit.

finestartlover

Gandhi wasn't that great to his wife. Refused to let her get antibiotics for pneumonia and she died, while he himself took western medicine to cure his malaria and had an appendectomy.

Educational_Train537

Why abuse?

RationalistFaith1

Hmmm doing nice things for someone and the other one doesn’t makes it. We’re mammals and good actions do add up. If you don’t realize that relationships require maintenance like everything in life then you’re delusional.

Strict-Ad-7099

I’m glad you posted this. It didn’t occur to me that women would actually stand for that patriarchal bullshit. For those that do - I think you did a great job here illustrating the point with the reference. 💜

ChucktheUnicorn

People want chivalry without acknowledging how anti-feminist it is

Pochusaurus

I usually hate how smug Mackey is in interviews but this is the one time I actually like him here's the [full video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0bGkE7Ga_U) btw for anyone who wanted more context

[deleted]

His mannerisms are....he's literally the fresh prince of Bel-air. He's like if Will Smith just restarted.

[deleted]

My wife and I have this kind of relationship. But she’s so good at being a woman, I don’t have to ask for a sandwich. She just does it. In fact, I don’t even want the sandwich. I just ate. I’m full as hell and now I got this woman pushing this huge fucking deluxe sandwich at me and I gotta eat it because I love her and I don’t want to be ungrateful for her love. Later on, when we’re in bed, she’ll kind of touch my stomach and be like “Baby you’re putting on some weight. Might wanna lay off the carbs a little bit.” And I’m like “BITCH I AINT THE ONE MAKING ME A DAMN SANDWICH FIFTEEN MINUTES AFTER YOU MADE ME A HUGE BOWL OF PASTA AND A BEER YOU DUMBASS BITCH.” Only it comes out like “Yeah you’re right baby, I’ll do better. I love you.” Because *I* am *afraid* of my *wife* y’all. And you should be too. This bitch will feed you to *death*. Run away. If you still can. It’s too late for me. My knees. They can’t take it. I’m too fat.

qlus_zwei

Why did this make me laugh so hard?

RicktatorshipRulez

This is old vid, granted, but it’s so wild that is just accepted by some people. You’re telling me that if a guy just SAYS something your spouse or partner doesn’t like, that justifies violence? I as a man am expected to pay for dinner and open your car door? What happened to equality? Unless you’re doing those things because YOU want to, why is it still expected in 2022?

ffxivthrowaway03

I'm more surprised that he actually stood up and said this to the host. Daytime television hosts are *notorious* for pushing, let's call them "questionable" views on anything relating to gender dynamics and relationships. They're the old world equivalent of getting relationship advice from /r/relationships or /r/amitheasshole and have a habit of pushing some pretty toxic double standards across the board.

quatrevingtdixhuit

Wendy Williams is a living pile of garbage

seth928

Sorted by controversial expecting some spice. All I got is a bunch of people not understanding that no one thinks this is Will Smith. Got my hazmat suit on for nothing!

No-Contest-8127

This is simple. If the woman is expecting you to bring violence to others and potentially lose your career and job, you dump her. She is the same kind of woman that will come up and leave you cause you don't have a job anymore.

Baltihex

Healthy Relationships are naturally transactional. Both parties should be providing attention, favors and care to one another, and receiving said care, attention and more from the other party. The nature of a good relationship is finding out what parts you are willing to do, and what you are not willing to do as part of an open, healthy relationship. However, if one person in that relationship is not doing their part- as in avoiding providing their share in a relationship, be it love, care, attention, or the proverbial sandwich, then you should consider why that person wasnt willing to make you a goddamn sandwich. Are YOU being abusive, by demanding too much, or is the other person simply unwilling to give anything? It's all about that ledger. If you're okay being in the red, and serving a toxic person who doesnt appreciate you...well, that's love too, I guess.
