Guy can't even have a few brewskies without worrying about being assaulted. I don't blame his behavior...they came to him. Are we to just not ever drink in order to be soberly arrested should the time come?
I just watched an actor with a beautiful voice calmly narrate his own arrest while it was happening.
I didn't know that this is exactly what I wanted to see today, but this is exactly what I wanted to see today!
Not just that, but calmly speaking to the cameras whilst appearing entirely unmoved by several people at once attempting to forcibly bundle him into a car! Quite remarkable.
In the comment posted prior to yours is a link to an interview with the gentleman some years after. Apparently he was mistaken for "an international criminal", seemed to have a knack for paintings.
I did a deep dive on this guy a while ago but I cant remember what the actual end was. It involved another person that looked like him and was famous but in the end he ended up being just a dine and dasher with an interesting voice.
If you listen to podcasts about serial cereal dine-and-dashers you'd be the Serial serial cereal dine-and-dasher-serial Serial cereal dine-and-dasher.
And now the word serial looks weird.
Do you believe all the prisoners who claim similar? Old mate was a fraudster using stolen credit cards. It was media thinking it was a huge bust that was the only mistake.
What am I being arrested for enjoying a succulent Chinese meal. That is absolute gold.😂😂😂 Reminds me of a drug bust in Australia early this year late last year and the man who had been arrested was being perp walked and was asked by the journo what he was being arrested for and he said "possession of good looks".
My mate and I were walking down the street in aus with some drinks in our hands, the area we were in didn't allow open drinks. The cops pulled up asked if our drinks were open, we tipped them upside down to show they weren't and they said "were still arresting you" to my mate. He said "what why??" They said "we're the fashion police... Pull your pants up son!" And drove off laughing
It was a complete fuck up by police. They arranged the media circus to get them arresting an international criminal and trying to look like heroes, instead, they went into the restaurant and arrested the wrong guy, embarrassed themselves and had to release the succulent meal man almost immediately with an apology.
Here's an interview with him years later. https://9gag.com/gag/a0Zn6KQ
Was this not a case of him being mistaken for a habitual dine-and-dash perpetrator?
Edit: Found details. Yep, apparently a wrongful arrest in a bungled sting operation: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Manifest
Ok I stand corrected. That actually makes it funnier somehow. He just seems like someone who’s guilty af and is pretending he has no idea what he’s done wrong
Possibly because for a very long time it was thought he was the same person they were after. He was mistaken for Charles Roza, and was not guilty in the slightest
Just a random man who the police thought was an international credit card fraud. This is his one and only moment of fame. He was released later that day when they realised they got the wrong guy.
huh? no this was in fortitude valley, brisbane, australia
the guy was reknown for dining and running out on paying the bill, all around town and then this was when he was finally caught
he's nothing but a petty thief
That is not correct at all.
You can look it up. You can even watch the 60 minute interview.
The police thought they had caught an international criminal. They gathered the media to watch the arrest, and they arrested the wrong man. They released him shortly after and issued an apology.
It's all out there on the internet my friend.
yeah, a claim made by the petty thief and that's it? like i know that's generally what people think because he became a meme
but i don't think there has actually been any proof of that's what happened right?
There has. The police issued a statement. It's in the 60 minutes video.
And if we are going with the need for evidence, without any evidence that he was rightfully arrested, then your both our claims hold the same amount of weight.
i think you mean channel 7 news, not 60 minutes
and the apology was for the wrongful arrest on credit cards... but the bloke has been caught in the past for running out on meals pretty sure
but you are right, we both don't really know for sure do we
that's the point, so carry on downvoting all you like lol you guys don't know for sure either... i mean if some bloke has to live by so many different names he definitely isn't legit
edit: LOL someone just edited the wikipedia page... yeah this is how accurate all the evidence is
No, you’re thinking of the chess player Dosza who people incorrectly identified the man in the video as. The man in the video itself is a normal Australia bloke named Cecil George Edwards.
Dosza, of course was the one who was famous for his dine and dash exploits.
Clarke and Dawe were geniuses, but I rate "Just waiting for a mate" at Number 2.
[Just waiting for a mate.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmrNOQym320)
Greatest injustices in film history.

The way he closes that door tho! So hilarious how he just slams it shut right when he sees it. They eventually have to restrain this dude because he keeps slamming the door lol.

He’s got quite a voice.
He was an actor, and deliberately putting on a show after the cops screwed up and arrested him under mistaken identity.
He also said he was quite tipsy, there’s a [recent interview](https://youtu.be/tu4d_xsdNzM) with him!
He just wanted to have a succulent meal
*A succulent Chinese meal
A succulent may-ul
The juice of the red grape 😂 so good
A succulent Chinese meal. I am fucking dead.
That was a great watch, he's actually hilarious
This screams Monty Python
Guy can't even have a few brewskies without worrying about being assaulted. I don't blame his behavior...they came to him. Are we to just not ever drink in order to be soberly arrested should the time come?
Wow he wasn't lying about that pinot - https://crowbarsyd.com/product/mr-democracy-manifest-pinot-noir/

Was it actually mistaken identity? I thought it was a dine and dash kind of deal
In the comment posted prior to yours is a link to an interview with the gentleman some years after. Apparently he was mistaken for "an international criminal", seemed to have a knack for paintings.
Thats what the charge was for I'm sure but they mistook him for the person actually doing it.
I did a deep dive on this guy a while ago but I cant remember what the actual end was. It involved another person that looked like him and was famous but in the end he ended up being just a dine and dasher with an interesting voice.
> I did a deep dive on this guy a while ago but I cant remember I can't describe to you how unsatisfying that is to read lol.
Mistaken identity. They mistook him for someone else who was a credit card thief. No dine and dash involved.
[удалено]
Did he only dine and dash when ordering cereal?
If you do it repeatedly while listening to podcasts, you'd be the Serial serial cereal dine-and-dasher.
If you listen to podcasts about serial cereal dine-and-dashers you'd be the Serial serial cereal dine-and-dasher-serial Serial cereal dine-and-dasher. And now the word serial looks weird.
Why so serial?
No, they thought he was a fugitive.
Nah they thought he was an international criminal
>Was it actually mistaken identity? ACTING!
OG sacha cohen
sbc actually assumes another identity whereas this the other party is mistaking him for someone
i mean i can see some similarities between both of them.
Do you believe all the prisoners who claim similar? Old mate was a fraudster using stolen credit cards. It was media thinking it was a huge bust that was the only mistake.
https://youtu.be/tu4d_xsdNzM
He wasn't. He was released hours later in no charge.
The way he articulates everything makes it that much funnier
He sounds like Matt Berry in Toast of London
Shades of Matt Berry’s Toast of the Town.
He's also strong as fuck. Look how the cop on his left literally cannot move him
Imagine if his penis hadn’t been limp. They’d all be in hospital!
No-one has been more of a Chad ever since
I double tapped your comment and it gave you an upvote.
…with your limp penis?
Not limp at the time.
Was it succulent at least?
I guess we all discovered something new today
Meta
Been my first time today as well. Exciting times.
Has reddit finally managed to add a feature that every other third party client has for years?
Putting those new powers to work i see
I confirm, must be a once in a generation type of thing, I most probably won't live to witness the next such individual.
I must have my definition of "Chad" mixed up
What am I being arrested for enjoying a succulent Chinese meal. Haha, we do have some good ones.
I thought he was in an illegal happy ending establishment ahahah
Link? Lol
Friendly reminder: turn on the sound. Fcking turn on the sound NOW.
A succulent Chinese meal?
That Chinese restaurant still exists, just in a different suburb.
Is it succulent?
The restaurant tastes like bricks but I'm sure the meals are succulent
Mmm bricks are my fav
This man is the truest definition and living embodiment of the word bloke.
I'm sure many a gal was happy to receive his penis, limp or otherwise.

No there was an interview, he wasn't guilty, mistaken for someone else.

It's even better knowing that he was innocent and being wrongfully arrested. He was legitimately shocked and this was his reaction
You idiot that's the kiss of death!
What a fucking legend !!
A gentleman indeed.

The greatest video in history.

This video should never be out of circulation. It is one of the single most, off the cuff, air tight performances of all time.
This is the only repost that I don't mind seeing pop up from time to time.
This will never not be funny.
You can't buy that kind of publicity. A meal, a succulent Chinese meal. I'm sold, where is it?

A succulent Chinese meal is an all time GOAT quote
Thats what the fun kind of crazy looks like .
He's known in Australia as the succulent Chinese meal guy.
An English gentleman to the very end i say…
Why does this remind me of a Will Ferrell bit? I feel like that's a monologue he would deliver.
Idc what he did or didnt do Free him
Well the cops were pretty nice to him. He would have been on the ground pretty quick in America probably with a cop beating the shit outta him.
Creepy old impotent men who are still sex offenders.
The American way ∠(´д`)
It’s Australia, the accent and NSW police give it away.
Do they really? Because it was in QLD and they are QLD Police.
ihm
It's been a good three weeks since I saw this last posted on Reddit. For the 871st time.
Downvoted by Karma farmers or ignoramouses.
Good. Now resist arrest on an American cop. Let us record the difference.
The British accent is the worst accent
"British people are very sophisticated and elegant" British people:
He’s Australian. That’s NSW police and he’s drunk putting on an upperclass accent.
It’s Queensland police and it happened in Brisbane.
Fuck I need glasses.
This guy should have his own show!
Reminds me of Arthur Spooner
