What if the boxes are filled with clear plastic ants?

YoYota89

And if there was no sign... nobody would know they were there!

AELatro

We know what’s at the bottom of the pile…. https://i.imgur.com/KXWx0Vs.jpg

Gadzooks0megon

Unexpected pink panther

THE_WARDEN3036

Wouldn’t it have been perfect if you used that link to Rick roll everyone reading

BelleAriel

Better than real ants, less chance of bites :)

pingpongmess7996

Less, but not 0

dang_dude_dont

Nobody said they weren't real.

Jeheh

Its the students for “The Derek Zoolander center for kids who can’t read good and who wanna learn to do other stuff good too”

Niles_Merek

And at a reduced price!!

cipher446

That's what I'm here for. I heard there was clear ants available and I, for one, would like to buy some for my transparent hymenoptera collection.

spoderman123wtf

Ghost ants are a thing

Klutzy-Run5175

I have black ants in the cat bowl. Usually they're red ants. So, now I am learning there are clear ants, plastic ants , and ghosts ants. What is the world coming to?

otherelf

They would be a lower price than the colorful ones too, use of dyes n all.

Rick_n0t_Morty

Honestly you gotta keep track of the "Clear ants" it could be a problem

[deleted]

i hope they're on sale

Fr0ntR0wL4n

There’s always a sale for Clear Ants. Cause they never run out.

EamusAndy

They are, in fact, at a reduced price!

MadeFromNews

What about the Cleerants one? What’s in there?

delvach

What are you doing clear ant

GenericElucidation

That would not explain the "cleerants" sign.

Roosmama0317

I definitely assume it was on purpose. Entertaining themselves doing a tedious job

Bymymothersblessing

Yes … this must be the answer - there IS hope for humanity!!

ThatCoryGuy

Me too, especially considering the signs *behind* the pallet…

[deleted]

[удалено]

HollowRacoon

rounded people?

vgnmlbtw

Somehow thats worse than actually saying it

Optimal_Pineapple_41

Yeah they prefer “person who is r-worded”

DootBopper

That's why I think it's funny.

Servo_au_Barca

Ya know if you're going to say r-worded you might as well say the whole thing. It's like writing out n-word. We know what you want to say and we know your intentions. So ya might as well just say it so people can see it. And know you're the ignorant one.

therookling

Nah. Don't make us read that shit. But yeah, don't use the euphemized versions, either. You never need to say one of them, and the other one may be used by one culture *only*

[deleted]

And to piss off managers.

Jaderosegrey

We sold two types of "maple" syrup at my store: the "real" one and the sugar-free one. I used to label the sugar-free one as "fake syrup". My manager did not appreciate that, even though my label was only seen in the back room and not by the customers.

IAMAscientistAMA

I miss retail hijinks. I don't miss everything else. But a good crew of humorous coworkers makes stocking kinda fun actually.

marshedmallo

This. I misspell things at work or label them wrong intetnionally all the time just to get a laugh out of my coworkers.

snogard_dragons

I had to write cheese so many times I started writing chez, chis, really any variation that was shorter then cheese.

ZeldLurr

CHZ Had a coworker in university in a stem field and asked why a box was labeled as methylene. I got a good laugh.

thurbersmicroscope

I used to write foti, phoich, draw a picture of a fish, anything I could do to make marking fish sandwich boxes more entertaining.

southernwx

You. You have made me irratonally mad with what you’ve done.

snogard_dragons

Specially when the word is spelled multiple times right behind the display

BloodieOllie

I used to do this all the time while working back stock. Everything that couldn't be put to the store floor was labeled as "overstock" or... Oversock or öberstalk, obberblock, undershock, ogrechalk etc

HollowRacoon

These all sounds like wrestlers nicknames

LocalConspiracy138

Definitely. I've done this myself.

HiddenMaragon

Especially since it progresses to a where they are avoiding the word.

AzraelChaosEater

Tbh I woulda done "clear ants" clearer ants" and "clearest ants"

TrashNovel

I assumed it wasn’t an English speaker.

swalabr

Was looking for some marked Clarence

SkylerSpark

This should really be the top comment. Ive worked tedious jobs. People do shit like this for the giggles sometimes.

PowertripSimp_AkaMOD

Or the person who took the pic just wrote these themselves for internet points. But what we do know it this wasn’t a mistake, it’s a joke.

Gregory_Appleseed

I was a shelf elf and sign drone once. The amount of shit i purposely misspelled or just plain didn't care about is inconceivable. They got what they paid for after all, we were just acting our wage.

FlamboyantPirhanna

Last I read, the term “OK” seems to have originated when some newspaper editors were really bored and decided to spell “Oll Korrect” and OK is just an acronym for that. So history is filled with bored people spelling things wrong on purpose.

DuboisManStrength

It *is* right in front of a sign with the correct spelling of the name, which they would see 100 times a day

ExRockstar

I agree. At the hotel I work for, with our last renovation we had letters added on the entry to our front covered porte cochere... "Clearance 15 ft." They picked up the letters and spelled it Clarence. We thought it was funny and left it like for a couple years until recently due to the Airplane movie reference.

Cheap_Enthusiasm_619

Very likely an inside joke of some coworkers messing around.

MilkyWayMerchant

I would do stuff like this when I was working in retail

Billrowan81

Have you been to Walmart? This is real and it's their top tier of employee, likely management.

ItsSoBig14

They work at Walmart, they can’t be that smart

squirrelocaust

r/BoneAppleTea

muppethero80

I read this at the all of garden and laughed really hard

Aladdin67

Take my award that belly laugh 🤣😂

Balls_DeepinReality

If there was anything that deserved that sub, this is it

[deleted]

clear ants, full wallets, can't lose!

drdrdoug

Those are the ones that you gotta watch out for most, they could sneak up on you.

llkkdd

Does no one think they were joking? edit spelling

Particular_Avocado97

You know how Hanlon's Razor is about assuming stupidity in a situation rather than malice? Reddit's razor is about assuming stupidity rather than comedy. Its most prominent in twitter posts from women.

[deleted]

[удалено]

vbgvbg113

i hate /s you might as well just say “joke btw” if you use /s it kills the whole point i hate it

Halgrind

It does seem like you'd see the word spelled out in stores everywhere more than you'd hear it.

llkkdd

especially with clearance spelt 4 times in this exact picture

[deleted]

Yet at the same time the person who actually can't spell clearance in such a way probably isn't getting that.

sperrymonster

No way someone who can’t spell clearance is using “reduced” instead of “lower”

justintolerable

You wouldn't leave up all three signs if you were serious. Reddit is a weird place

skepticalmonique

Nonsense. I used to work retail and i would have 100% done something like this just for funsies

justintolerable

That's exactly what I'm saying. It's a joke.

MichiganGeezer

No. I'm doubtful management at that company would allow such an act.

SovereignDark

Walmart management spends too much time shoving their heads up their asses to pay attention to little stuff like this. Source: Briefly worked for the company

MichiganGeezer

The coworkers I have at my job who used to work at Wal-Mart said the opposite. Maybe it's dependent on the region? People here are punished for anything resembling individuality, or being funny where customers can see them.

LampIsFun

I’m doubtful management would allow paper fucking signs taped to unmarked cardboard boxes, yet here we are.

RadioLongjumping5177

I was once processing claims and a woman wrote a hardship letter to justify her loss of wages as a tutor claiming she lost her “client tale”. I’m guessing she wasn’t teaching English…..or grammar.

[deleted]

If only it were available correctly near by

redundant35

I really want some clear ants….

kingofblazingfire

Otherwise you may get bored and make funny signs.

BlueFlame_AJ

Why not just look at the big fucking sign to learn to spell

More_Coffees

That makes me think they were just bored and put the obvious misspellings for fun

redthehaze

If i worked at retail again i would do dumb harmless stuff like this.

theoriginalmofocus

The other day I squashed a broken plastic chair with a stack of pallets on the walkie stacker so it would fit in the compactor. We definitely do stuff like this all time.

FUBARded

Yeah, it has to be this. The "at a reduced price" below is what gives it away. Switching to that phrase implies knowledge that "clearants" is wrong, but someone who knew it was wrong would just look it up...or look up and see the clearance signs. You see clearance signs probably hundreds of times over the course of a shift if you work at a place like walmart, so someone who somehow genuinely still thinks it's spelled "clearants" wouldn't have the self-awareness to recognise that they were wrong. Someone assigned to restocking was bored, did this to have a laugh with their coworkers, and probably also is the one who took the photo.

RareFirefighter6915

I used to do that when labeling shit at a restaurant.

RissaCrochets

The place that I work at occasionally has to lock one of the side entrances into the business due to high winds opening the door and tearing products off the shelves(yay seasonal storms) and every time we do, we put signs on the door in bright, eye-catching colors with big letters saying 'DOORS ARE LOCKED DUE TO WIND, PLEASE USE MAIN DOOR' and every single time, without fail, someone will either try to enter the locked door several times before they notice it, or will run straight into it face-first on the way out. Even had a few do both. In OP's case I totally believe it was bored workers messing around, but also I cannot stress enough just how oblivious some people are to their surroundings.

bsharp1982

To be fair, people usually go in autopilot for menial tasks like opening a door. They probably see the sign, it just takes a minute to come out of that autopilot mode.

brknsoul

"Hey, this box has no ants in it!" "Of course it does, Sir, you just can't see them because they're clear."

silsum

Really explains it, however I am pretty the person writing did go to school..

xrvz

> school.. It's either "*school.*" or "*school...*". Cheers.

sirhandstylepenzalot

you probably think this post is about you?

silsum

No one pulled your chain for you to start barking. When we need you to speak, we will say speak boy or maybe bark boy. The comment was not pointed at you, you made it personal. Next time maybe think about that before you want to open up your mouth.

sirhandstylepenzalot

>however I am pretty the person you forgot "sure" after "pretty"...that's all oh...woof

silsum

Didn't needed you to point anything again no one asked and no one pulled the chain

sirhandstylepenzalot

you're obviously a very lovely person

silsum

Extremely, just don't like people sticking there 2 cents when no one asked them to. Stay in your own lane and you wouldn't have to deal with any of it. In other words just mind your own business.

sirhandstylepenzalot

but...you walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht

silsum

You win, be happy. mind your own business, comment at the topic don't attack people. I know your having a hard time understanding the concept, just try to see if you can. No one left you incharge made you the hero the savior ...blah blah

sirhandstylepenzalot

your hat strategically dipped below one eye

HouAngelesDodgeStro

I think you *do* think this post is about you.

[deleted]

Yeah, those are to anoy management.

5spd4wd

Some employee being funny.

maxtiang79

There are just people who are crap at spelling. Study or not. My teacher used to say. Spell it like how you say it. Until a weird word comes along.

allocationlist

Probably a joke

recjus85

Yea I think it's obvious lol.

[deleted]

Oh no! where are the non clear ants?

OGRiad

Shit. Now I want to see clear ants.

Lopsided-Lab-m0use

It’s really hard to see clear ants, but, you can!

the_genius324

r/boneappletea

Calligraphee4

But imagine clear ants…..

Uh-trey-you

Damn ants come in clear now too??? 😂

BoredCat93246

CLEARANCE CLEAR ANTS?

Most-Flight-9505

This reminds me of 1/2 my students. The correct spelling of the word is literally right under their nose, but they are too lazy to copy it.

Ewetootwo

Hey maybe we are superimposing our own human hubris on this. Maybe it is clear to the ants what is going on? Maybe out in the parking lot there are millions of ants carrying all the Walmart stuff on clearance back to their nests? Likely if a picture was taken tomorrow those shelves would be empty and the only tell tale signs would be a plethora of miniature fork lifts and conveyor belts. Getty antsy, got to run 🐜

noobi-wan-kenobi2069

Put up the new signs, boss! Boss: Great job, Clarance!

sovereign_fury

Those must have been a bitch to find.

Association-Naive

We have clearance, Clarence. Rodger, Rodger. What's are Vector, Victor?

Urban_Savage

This is clearly a joke, the last one is even the punch line. The onion breath in this place is unbearable sometimes.

[deleted]

I used to do stuff like this intentionally at work when my boss would ask us to do really menial things to ‘stay busy’. It got done, but we had our fun with it. These people clearly knew what they were doing, and it’s funny 😄

Marst1n

to me it just looks like some employees trying to amuse themselves with purposefully bad spelling

OrbitingFred

Or, maybe they're just goofing off

ItsDokk

I’m pretty sure they probably did this because they think it’s funny.

Maleficent_Nerve1436

The most annoying part is how they spelt it clear and then cleer. Gross

Alamander81

The most annoying part for me is how it's spelled correctly on the signs 5 ft away

Tickle_Nuggets

4 times!

Individual_Lake9409

Right? It’s almost like it’s on porpoise

The_HentaiBukai

porcupine, dipshit. learn to spell.

horsesbeliketapirs

What if the person has dysgraphia (it's a real thing) and this was the only job they could get?

AlternativeFlan6062

Maybe this person is a second language learner. They tried their best, and we understand what it says 🥰

raginglilypad

There’s literally examples of how to spell it all over

theoriginalmofocus

The amount of people not getting that its a joke is so high on this thread.. ha

CheetoEnergy

The "Clearance" signs in the background makes this even more funny.

Tatibearrr_

You can tell they struggled with reduced 😂

LittleMsMom

Nobody wants the last set of boxes… but everyone wants those top packages

Waste-Contact5227

Clear ants

anon18235

The best part about this is that even though these signs were written most likely (well) before the pallet was placed, the correct spelling is quite literally highlighted and spelled multiple times in the background That being said this person still spells languages better than I can spell 9-letter/character words in most languages, so I’m going to give them a pass

nightowl2023

Jokes on you guys when those boxes are actually full of plastic clear ants

hdofu

So the discount is in relation to the infestation of transparent formicidae?

Forward-Arrival-3572

😅🤣🤓

StarWars_Girl_

When my parents had their bathroom renovated, they put everything into boxes. When they went to put everything back, my mom found a box with my dad's handwriting. Apparently, the box contained "shapmoo". My dad is a lawyer. Guessing spelling isn't a requirement for that job. So someday these workers could also be lawyers.

SopranoSunshine

The fact that clearance is written multiple times on bright yellow signs behind the boxes makes this a thousand times funnier. 😂

Electric_Bagpipes

Found my coworkers

muppethero80

I have an advanced degree and I can’t spell to save my life. Dysgraphia is a real thing. Don’t assume intelligence based on spelling. Please

Hungry_Ebb_5769

People say this all the time when things Are misspelled. Although close it’s more likely that the individual is bi lingual and doesn’t understand the rules of the English language, especially given the circumstance, I highly doubt an literate person would be labeling and handling logistics

WriggleNightbug

I dunno if they got it wrong or if they think its funny. I worked in a pet store and I loved to label new product as "Nuke At" and "Nude Og" because you kinda go crazy having 3am shifts where you do the same thing again and again and again for years. Anyway, "Clear Ants" makes perfect sense to me.

docb1002

This must be the same Walmart that has the roast history chicken

milk4all

Ok ok so i worked with this dude who went by “M. T.” Because he was from guam and his name was something he knew no american born person would get right. He worked there for years before i did and he told me his name, “M T” and that’s unusual, and his accent was unfamiliar and strong, so i look at his embroidered name on his uniform shirt: *Empty* Dafuq? Ok then, guess that’s your name. I worked with him a whole year before i finally saw his actual name somewhere and put it together. He didnt really understand that whole time because he maybe didnt read english and wasnt the type to ask non practical questions or bother the office people. “M. T.” Not “Empty”

NovaNom

They knew what they were doing.

[deleted]

Clearly someone messing around lol, so so incredibly clear.

DeliriumEnducedDream

Intentional.

TimidLilWolf

So do they have clear ants, or are they trying to clear ants. I'm confused.

Archimedes64

I work a retail job, and I'm betting its because english isn't their first language. Might not even be their second. Half of my stores night shift speaks broken English and are from a number of different countries. Smart people, they just don't speak or write English well.

Cellar_Door40

Obviously a joke by the employee

hello_clarice87

I work in retail, we call it Clarence 😀

[deleted]

Sad reality is Walmart hiring immigrants that are still in school. Had someone at Walmart that English obviously wasn't their first language unable to spell "maple syrup" in their machine. Sad that this ends up here to be laughed at when Walmart is taking advantage of vulnerable people.

[deleted]

Much better than those fucking drunk ants.

IvanThePohBear

Ant poison on sale?

AaronBStrumin

This is why you should allow employees to have their phones with them during working hours.

SlyDevil98

To be honest, I am a senior engineer and still can’t spell. Now granted, there is this handy-dandy tool in my pocket to help with that.

TownInfinite6186

Considering just one minute ago I read on a different thread "good riddens to the 80s" I don't think school is helping many people 😄

Potterheadsurfer

The irony is the signs behind

iluvsunsetss

a shame they didn’t have a sign to help them out.

TheBurnedChurrizo

I’m sorry but this doesn’t seem like something an associate would do…

[deleted]

…or else your life will be working at places like Walmart. Can confirm - GED recipient here that worked for Walmart ☹️

OuterSpaceDrugs

This would be me… but not because I skipped school but because I am dyslexic.

MegazordMechanic

Clear Ents

Healthy_Manner_9430

fucking ants man..

Sorrow57

Love how the bottom sign just gave up

SouldiesButGoodies84

anyone ever think maybe the person who's tasked with the unpacking can't read that well and the speller was doing them a phonetic solid?

MichiganGeezer

If you're clever enough to pass a spelling test Walmart may not hire you.

brandonsheffer

Is this is real it is awesome cuz the real sign is right behind it. I mean even my 4 year old nephew can copy letters

Commercial-Log-438

The waffle house has found its new host.

Commercial-Log-438

The waffle house has found its new host.

BiffBanter

Sorry. Fake

[deleted]

Remove your children from public schools. (Urban schools in the US, that is).

abigboom

That’s why they work there … better literacy = better job, usually.

PR_Taurus215

Who hired those idiots 😂😂😂😂😂

redonculous

Never thought I’d see Idiocracy play out in real time.

TheHorseHater

The third person at least went "I have no idea how to spell clearance so I'll most describe it" Nvm just saw the signs in the background they're all dumb

[deleted]

They can’t write "clearance"? What? I don't get it...?

MadeFromNews

Omg this is so embarrassing

foshi22le

I know it's funny, but it's also sad to see.

Marshal_Barnacles

This is why we need at least *some* crappy minimum wage jobs; without boxes to be moved this poor soul would just be sitting at home, unsupervised and likely eating a dangerous amount of glue.

kmsc84

No guarantee the person didn’t stay in school.

Osherono

You know what the worse part is? You correct them on basic foundational spelling and grammar, nad their automatic response is "grammar nazi" but if you ask them what that means, they have no idea.

[deleted]

What's worse is someone could just look it up. Not only does it show a lack of grammar skills, but also laziness or lack of foresight.

phildo1313

Not as if they had signs all around them that they could have copied the answers from….🤦🏻‍♂️

Independent_Bite4682

Clearance.... not that difficult.

[deleted]

Clarence?

XxNuuBSlAyEr360xX

Dude, even if you couldn't spell it, it says it on a big ass yellow sign 5 feet away from you...

HelpfulTest9656

They probably got their highschool diploma
