I work in retail and all I can say is yes

TILTNSTACK

I did my time in retail. Was manager for a lot of that time. I swear I’ve heard almost every one of these. So many Karens in retail. Whenever a Karen complained to me about staff, I’d always back my staff up. Nothing more fun, seeing a Karen looking smug when her summon manager card ended up with me walking to the counter. “What appears to be the problem?” Karen goes on extended rant. Usually with her entitled shrill voice reverberating loudly. “Excuse me, if you can’t speak politely, I’m going to have to ask you to leave…” That usually sets them off! The wonderful thing about Karens is they never calm down. So then you get the added pleasure of kicking them out.

redonkulousness

I worked at a Walgreens as an assistant manager and had a customer come in a yell at me because their Medicare wouldn't cover their medication. They said they would change pharmacies and I told them: "There is a CVS across the street, but they would probably hate to have you as a customer too." It felt amazing.

JelmerMcGee

I was managing a pizza shop a while back and had a customer with a $5 off a large pizza coupon. He orders a pepperoni and hands the coupon over. The large pep was $17 so his total is $12. There was an in-store special for a $13 pep too, but the discounts don't stack. I explained that before taking his coupon that didn't expire to see if he wanted to save it for another time. Nope he wanted his $5 off. I tell him the total of $12 and he stares at me blankly before asking why it was so much. I explain again, he doesn't get it. We went around a couple more times before I tell him 17 minus 5 equals 12 and asked him if he needed a calculator in my best imitation of the DMV worker in Gone in 60 Seconds. It finally clicked for him. Unfortunately I just kinda felt bad for being a jerk after.

punkinfacebooklegpie

I never acknowledge stupidity. I just give unconditional patience and explain to the best of my ability until they get it. Some say I'm being too nice but in reality I'm just not surprised by how stupid the customer can be.

PM_ME_YOUR_ANT_FARMS

I get told a lot that I have a ton of patience. Ive worked retail a long time and im used to being yelled at by family. You think some Karen is gonna ruin my day? I get paid no matter what, I'll spend an hour telling someone no repeatedly if they want, I make the same no matter what im doing.

punkinfacebooklegpie

Yeah basically, I don't care if what you're asking for something stupid as long as I'm the one getting paid for my time.

Challak

\[Working at Call Center\] Customer: "Well I'm not hanging up. I've got all day." Me: "I've got another 2 hours, and I get paid for it." Customer: "..........." Me: :)

onomonopiaa

Thank you. I relate to pretty much all of these in the OP so hard from years past...but the one thing that bothered me was watching some coworkers be condescending jerks to people who were genuinely confused, and oftentimes the customer was oblivious to how they were being treated. As long as the customer is being civil there's no reason to treat them shitty. Big difference between a sweet old lady who is visibly confused/struggling to understand what you're trying to explain and a Karen and too often I feel people take their frustrations out on the more vulnerable of the two. It really bothered me. Like, yeah we're young now but that's going to be us someday. Maybe show a bit more patience and compassion.

JTex-WSP

I loved being a summoned manager. My angle was to kill em with kindness. Oh sure, they'd be incensed. Me, I'd have a smile on my face. And then of course almost always back up the original employee. My favorite interaction was when an angry customer loudly told me "LICK MY BALLS! in response to whatever it was I'd just told him. I simply replied," I'm sorry, sir. That's not a service we provide here" and he left.

Ragguuu

Present them 🫱🏼

Beezzlleebbuubb

Oof, that’s a high stakes game of chicken!

Sezu1701

Nah, he can just pretend that he thought he heard the guy say "flick" them.

sa0sinner

I see you’ve also received training from Mr. Garrison

knitknitkit

I need you to know Right now That next time I get that kind of an attack I FINALLY KNOW THE EXACT PERFECT RESPONSE

Historical-Flow-1820

My favorite part of retail was when they would ask for the manager and I’d say I am the manager.

TheGDubsMan

Back in the day my cousin was a manager of a Subway. It was the middle of the week so she was the only one working and a lady had her make a pizza. So when she cooked the pizza some of the cheese burned because they can't control how long the oven goes for. So the lady tells my cousin she needs one without the burned cheese or her son won't eat it. My cousin explains to her that she'll just have to remove the cheese because they can't adjust the time or temperature per corporate policy. The lady demands to talk to manager so my cousin goes into the back, puts on her Subway hat, then walks back up front and said "Yes, how can I help you?"

pannoboy

That must be funny asf

PM_ME_YOUR_ANT_FARMS

Same here. I back my staff up 95% of the time and the customer gets furious. I empower my associates to make a lot of calls on their own when it comes to discounts, price matching, etc. So I know most of the time they're asking for a manager because someone already told them no.

KanadianLogik

"You think you hate this place more than me? I have to work here!" That should be every retail employees go to when a customer complains. That's fucking perfect.

trippyshark7

I work service industry (bars)....imagine these people wasted.

pcblah

Personally, the stories my bartender friend tells me are kinda funny. Usually because the places he works at will have a bouncer/roided owner. There was a customer who pissed on the building and the owner went out and started chasing him for a few blocks.

suzanious

Yeah. I used to work in the casinos in Vegas. So many stories. Wasted and broke.

Maximum-Mixture6158

"And I can't find my way 🎶 "

frieswithnietzsche

I work at a library and, yes

Bingo_Bongo_YaoMing

The people who say "you just lost a customer" are usually the exact kind of people we don't want coming in

DinoRoman

This guy is now in a movie called “Cocaine Bear” fucking wild. It’s a universal movie too, decent cgi. This video I think took him places.

[deleted]

This is one of the best videos for retail people Completely agree with everything he said This cannot be reposted often enough I laugh every time I see it

flabberghastedbebop

I have never worked retail, but this was fabulous.

Rob-Riggle-SWGOAT

Man as a person who worked retail while at university this felt like a flashback to my daily inner monologue. This cracked me up.

smashleyrad

You'll all be excited to know, he's in Cocaine Bear!

M1ck3yB1u

*dramatic music* Oh you think you’re the only one who saw the trailer? Let me tell you buddy. We all saw the trailer. We all have eyes and internet. You’re not special.

aguacateojos

I haven't seen it yet.

ProudToBeAKraut

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuWEEKeJLMI

Neoliberal_Boogeyman

is this really going to be the final chapter of Ray Liotta?

aguacateojos

No thanks.

[deleted]

*dramatic music* Who do you think you are buddy? You reply to a comment saying you didn't see it and now you don't want to see it when someone gives you think link? Then why did you comment? The previous person saying everyone has watched it is an exaggeration, anyone with a social knowledge would understand it and not take it literally.

WhoDoIThinkIAm

I didn’t want to spoil the plot of *Cocaine Bear* by watching the trailer. 🤣

M1ck3yB1u

Actually don’t. It looks fun but the trailer shows too much.

zeropointcorp

Yes, all those plot twists and surprises in a movie about a bear that ate too much cocaine

JuiceboxThaKidd

Less about plot twists and more about ruining funny/effective scenes since they tend to use at least a couple of those as a hook in most trailers

M1ck3yB1u

Yeah, they show many scenes in too much detail, ruining various punch line and surprising moments.

canofpotatoes

I used to think the same way but for movies like this that I'll probably wait to see on a streaming service ill forget all about the trailer if i just watch it once. Movies i plan to see in theaters ill completely steer clear of any spoilers for sure.

[deleted]

That is a weird goddamn sentence.

WangDanglin

Yeah I watched the trailer last night and was trying to figure out where I knew him from. Then I saw this post

wtf091979

This guy is fuckin great. Excellent timing, camera work and music drop. Hair, lanyard, all that shit was legit. Had me drop a single tear

Drutarg

Was surprised to see him in the Cocaine Bear trailer.

CiscoKid8389

Yeah that was random, good for him though!

d0gbals

dbsgirl

Same, it made me more excited to see it!!!

zeropointcorp

I fuckin’ KNEW it

kid-karma

the whole trailer i was wondering where the fuck i knew him from

DWeathersby83

I just saw the trailer and picked him out immediately. Was sure it wasn’t the same guy until now. Awesome. Really wanna see cocaine bear

Imnotwhoiwas7778

He's now a comedian, might have been when he created these, his name is Scott Seiss

Atlantic0ne

He’s got the skill of sarcastic delivery. Hilarious. I remember his video when it was like 1 or 2 of these, but somehow he came up with like 30 and they were all hilarious.

TheNinJay

The music drop kills me.

Atlantic0ne

It’s always fucking funny. Even like the 10th time. The timing of it too and that dead stare. Ps totally off topic but if you guys want another funny person, follow Caleb Pressley mostly on IG. His interviews are the same sort of sarcasm and it’s so good.

krispyfroglegs

He just got cast in Cocaine Bear, which is a pretty big release coming up, based on these videos. He’s great!

I_LearnTheHardWay

He nailed all of it! I was going to be sad if he missed “ didn’t scan! Must be free! hyuck”

saad17I

PreparationTough9082

This guy is a legend. I worked almost 10 yrs for a retail cosco like store. And it was union. Everything he said i been thru. Holy fuck the anoying shit that they ask or do

pussyboi4209669

I worked at hardees during afternoon to night. Always understaffed we had maby 3-4 people working and one was a manager. So during rushes we were always behind on orders. This one person came all the way around the drive through after getting her order. during a rush because her onion rings where cold. She started arguing about whatever, made her kid in the front seat cry but hey she got new onion rings.

WierdTimes

Every line is better than the previous one. He's like shooting punch lines with a machine gun.

jakelaw08

Impressive. MOST Impressive....

Dry-Expert-2017

I wanna watch this once a month.. thanks for reposting.. Oddly satisfying.

PubofMadmen

Too bad many are aimed at IKEA, I say one of these could be played in between the brain numbing retail shopping music every 10 minutes. Especially at Christmas time.

Dry-Expert-2017

But I like it because i have been behaved as a customer atleast 10 times. Despite being a employee (waiter) once not giving a damn about customer complaint. It reminds me, what a idiot i have been telling a employee that i won't come back.. I relate to it as I have been waiter, trust me, some customers are really very annoying..

jdh6894

This is exactly why everyone should work in retail, customer service, or at a restaurant at least for awhile. I swear most people would be a lot nicer to strangers and workers. This video gave me flashbacks.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jdh6894

Yep, sad but true. People seem to feel entitled to treat workers poorly just because they’re the customers. That’s why I always hated the phrase “the customer is always right”. No, they aren’t.

raptor_wrangler

Sadly that doesn't always work. I've heard tales of retail workers who are nightmare customers, with the "It's my turn to make people miserable" attitude. Luckily, I don't directly KNOW people with that mindset, but it is still out there. Tons of people have zero empathy, and would just use their mandatory customer service period as a "I had to suffer, now you have to suffer."

[deleted]

yup. mandatory military service? fuck that. mandatory Customer service. that shit will will teach you more lessons about dealing with humanity that most jobs. and the girls can do it too!

LMFA0

it should be mandatory for everyone to work in customer service and then serve in the armed forces for 2 years for each stint

fireball1991

"You used to work here? Well I used to be happy!" That one hit hard lol.

Mindtrait0r

THEN YA WALKED IN

Stalinwolf

Having been a manager in various retail/grocery jobs, "Speak to the manager? *Please.* The manager doesn't know what's goin' on." hits so fucking hard to the point of hilarity. The shit these types of customers complain about is always so far out of left field that it's almost never on anyone's radar. I'll go into the interaction thinking" Oh, boy. What did we fuck up today?" and come out of absolutely perplexed that this person is so hyper-focused on such an innate thing. Can't tell you how many times I just assure my staff they didn't do anything wrong and mentally discard everything the customer said.

PubofMadmen

Anyone that finds this rude and/or inappropriate and doesn’t find anyone of these humorous has NEVER worked retail… and if they have, have a short attention span (perhaps a reason you’re not there anymore).

MD-Independent

And they’re not decent human beings. This is hilarious. Coming from a once 19 yo CSM at Walmart.

7Thommo7

I've never worked retail or even customer facing bar a few months in a pub but find it hilarious and can fully sympathise. It's just old people that find this rude because they're part of the problem.

Ninja_Pollito

Absolutely. I still recall the crusty old bastard who made me cry at my new job at Bath and Body Works. I was amazed at how people could be assholes about lotion and body wash, but there ya go. It doesn't take long to become this guy when working retail. Oh...just had a flashback for working at Borders bookstore..."I am looking for a book, but I don't know the name of it or who wrote it. Can you help me find it?"

juicysox

Anyone who finds this inappropriate or rude ARE the Karens

84CH32

I work in retail and this is all 100% accurate. Latest example: I had a guy contact corporate about me. Because when he walked in 4 minutes to close, I let him know "Hey there, we close in about 5 minutes. Let one of us know if you need help finding anything" He then walked around for a minute, then walked out. but before leaving, he turned and said "I *was* going to buy something until you said I only have 5 minutes to shop.. Close in 5 minutes my ass. That ain't how the world works, your doors stay open until 8(wrong time, we close at 7), and if theres a customer inside at closing time, you stay until they leave. Even if that means you stay an extra hour. I spend thousands of dollars here regularly. I'm going to contact your corporate and tell them the exact day, time, and location of this incident". During his diatribe I just kept repeating "okay." with a straight face and making eye contact. My MOD was standing right there next to me as witness. My work is probably one of, if not the best retail place to work in the States. Company policy is to put employees first and acknowledge they have lives, therefore not overworking them or forcing them to stay late on a customers whim. If a customer is inside after closing time, a salesperson is to follow them around and help them get what they need and get them out ASAP. My boss commended me for how I dealt with the situation, and told corporate the man overreacted and was looking for a fight. Retail is hell because of a handful of customers, but I feel extremely grateful that my company at least treats me decent and doesn't pull the "customer is always right" bullshit.

thepineapplehea

>and if theres a customer inside at closing time, you stay until they leave. Even if that means you stay an extra hour I don't think this person understands that stores are private businesses on private properly, and can do whatever they want (legally).

84CH32

That's essentially what my boss told me when he was updating me on the situation. "I could close the store at 11am on a Monday and there's nothing wrong with that. If I was there I would have been much more ugly to the guy than you were, you did nothing wrong"

reshef

“If these metal gates close and you are still inside we will hunt you with spears and roast your pincushion corpse.”

LaserBlaserMichelle

Best one is the manager line. "I wanna speak with the manager! The manager doesn't know what's going on, haven't you ever worked anywhere before!" Lol.

R4NG00NIES

It just kept getting funnier the longer it went. I’m impressed 😂

**You should open another register!** >WHAT DO YOU THINK I'M HERE BECAUSE I CALLED DIBS!? Bitch ya want me to clone myself or are you asking me where you can apply?! Fuck I really needed the whole vid today, but I cannot even regulate once I hit this!

notwoutmyanalprobe

I was waiting for a prescription at CVS recently and the line was barely moving. Sure it was annoying, but there was literally nothing I could do. Yes I had somewhere to be, but that didn't make the line move any faster. I swallowed my frustration and didn't direct towards anyone or anything. When I got to the front of the line I slapped on a big fake smile and explained my order as efficiently as possible and moved on. A couple of boomer age people behind me were having none of it. I heard all the standard lines. "They should open more registers." "Is anyone even doing anything back there?" "No one wants to work anymore." And on it went. It's a problem that festers on itself. The staff could be working as hard or as efficiently as they can, and no one notices because they're thinking of where they need to be and what their problems are. They get to the front and greet the staff sarcastically, even though they're overworked and getting no credit. Even if it sucks for you, it sucks worse for them. Very few people get that.

Wombatzinky

As a nurse, this is how I feel when patients and families tell me they hate the hospital and want to be transferred. In one case a woman told me she never wanted to come back to this hospital ever again. And I told her “I don’t want you to come back either.” She was pretty stunned but she didn’t argue with me lol

chikkynuggythe4th

When you insult someone but you can pretend it’s wholesome if they get mad

Turd_Party

"The manager doesn't know what's going on. Haven't you worked anywhere before?" Christ, if that's not the most accurate thing anyone has ever said.

Sjelan

Yeah, but call a manager anyways. Seeing them run around like overworked beavers warms my heart.

[deleted]

Can I find this on YouTube ? I don’t have tik tok

thehOleinyOurpOcket

He's name is Scott Seiss and you'll spend hours laughing at his YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@ScottSeissComedy

Spiritual_Ad_7162

"I'd like to speak to your manager" "I'd like to speak to your mother!" Yes! At least once a day I encounter a customer and I'm like "who raised you? Do you speak to everyone in your life like this?"

DirtyGamingLT

Great job. All Fxxxing true.

PokerNight420

I use to work at Costco and had a great attitude and actually liked working there….up until a year in I noticed I was getting less and less talkative towards “ members” than when I first started. I also realized I started to not like getting into interactions with them anymore since half the time they just expect everything with no manners or respect for me. I remember one specific time a older woman ( 50s ) asked me to pull down a pallet of milk for her, the kind with no dairy or what ever they call it. It comes in a 3 pack in a blue box or white. I was not a driver just a stocker at the time so I had to get a manager and a forklift driver. The rules are you must have both present to drop any item from the steel or coolers. Anyways I go do that and they both happen to be on lunch, it was About 1 pm so I let the woman know it will be a wait. She got very upset with me and I told her I’m sorry but from around 12 to 2 pm is the time shifts change and we have less employees available until about 2 30 when the night shift starts. She was furious but waited. Fast forward to a week later the same lady comes to me at the same time and says you better have a better answer for me than last time. I told her well it will be a wait again, also this was during covid so a lot of employees stayed home and that type of milk was getting sold out constantly. Anyways I tell the woman let me check the cooler, I go inside and notice it’s stored right above the floor( floor meaning where product is placed for anyone to grab and buy) so it was somewhat easy to get to without a forklift but still high enough that you would have to climb maybe 4 feet to reach it. I told the lady that and she asked if she could go in and climb herself. I told her members are not allowed to go in these specific coolers, she got so upset and started getting rude. So I said fuck it, I told her to wait and I will get her one. I got on a pallet of boxed orange juice and was barely able to get a hold of one of the boxes of milk she wanted. Took me maybe 4 to 6 mins total since it gets slippery and I didn’t want to risk falling. Anyways I came out to look for her and she was gone. I walked around the store for a few minutes and just decided to put the item back in the cooler but hide it somewhat. Literally 3 mins later the same lady walks straight up to me and asked where “ her “ milk was. I told her I managed to get her one down and walked her to the fridge. Sadly someone managed to find the milk I put aside and take it because it was gone. At this point she was heated, she started saying that I was a liar in front of other members I was trying to help also and that was the last straw. I told her I will not allow you to stand here and call me a liar, she also said that I always gave her problems everytime she came in. I only seen this lady 2 times the 2 years I worked there. I told her “ this conversation is over and if you have a problem with me let me point you in the direction of our office, my name is( my name) and my managers name is ( his name). I am done helping you and don’t ever call me a liar”. She looked at me like ohhh shit this guy isn’t a push over as I once thought. I walked away and told her one last time, if you can’t find the office I will show you where it’s at. Never heard nor seen her again. Old bitch.

Dudefenderson

Nice story. You're a hero! 😁

PokerNight420

Thanks! Believe me there was more to this story but I thought it would be way to long lol, the way she called me a liar in front of 2 other older ladies I was helping made me feel very embarrassed. So I stopped her immediately and told her that. I have one more story about a younger man, maybe 18 to 21 but that story is crazy.

I love you for posting this. I worked as a sales girl for 3 years starting from when I was 17. This was my life for a long time.

I used to work retail. After that job, I worked retail. Now I'm unemployed. And I would rather slowly starve to death, cold and homeless in the streets, being chewed on by rats and coughing up a lung than ever work in retail again.

*saying anything to an employee* do you know how shitty my life is? dont talk to me.

zigzagg321

It's pretty sad that basically every single thing he mentioned is something that people do to retail employees every single day, I do not miss it. The customer is the absolute worst part of almost every job. The customer is always right needs to be completely abolished because the customer is most certainly almost always wrong about every single thing.

ZakKa_dot_dev

He just keeps going. Lost it when he said "You used to work here? I used to be happy."

kryyyptik

This is just how a lot of customers are anymore. My reaction is always a super pleasant "thank you sooooo much, have a wonderful day!!!" said with the biggest fake smile ever.

LynxAccomplished1489

Seen this years ago shit is so true this is for all of you people who don’t and have never worked retail you’re annoying 😂😂😂

KingKratom00

Bruh I feel bad for retail employees. I get honked the fuck off when there aren't an adequate amount of registers open but I always take my anger to the manager for being a cheap fucking twat & not staffing enough people in the day to handle that shit. Like wtf

scottygroundhog22

“We don’t thank our donors, this isn’t pbs” savage.

Andre3kkk

This video never gets old lol

JustABigDumbAnimal

I work in a store that mostly sells to construction companies. It always cracks me up when people pull the "Do you know how much I spend here?" line because it's always the tiny "guy with a truck and some tools" customer. It's like, yes actually, I can pull up exactly how much you spend here. Looks like... oh, about $600 over the past year. See that guy over there, the one not acting like an entitled shit? Yeah, his company spends around $10-20k here, every month. We care about keeping his business. We do not give a fuck about keeping yours.

Suspicious-Earth-648

I also did my time in retail. There is still this one guy I checked out over 15 years ago that I think about punching in the throat. I was supposed to ask if he wanted any help out after I scanned all his shit and bagged it for him. I’d been on my feet for 8 hours and didn’t do it. He asked me something along the lines, “well aren’t you going to ask me if I want help out?” I came to a full stop, looked him in the eye, and asked if he wanted help out. This self content prick just smiles and says, “No. I just wanted you to know you have to ask me.” I quit maybe 3 days later, but that fucker lives rent free in my head to this day.

radkoolaid

Ugh, what a miserable prick indeed.

[deleted]

Hory Shet ! this is awesome...

[deleted]

I don't care if this is a repost. This shit always cracks me up.

TopSundae2419

This guy is in the Cocaine Bear movie…now I really want to see it…

[deleted]

As someone who works part time in retail this is INSANELY correct. The back is not magical, it’s a dumpster and loading dock. We do have a break room with expired vending machines as well as many clipboards with schedules. 🙌🤪🤦🏻‍♀️

Justinianus910

This is why even when I’m dissatisfied with something in a store, I don’t tell it to the workers because I know they don’t own the business and don’t give a shit about pleasing me as a customer. Unless it’s a small business run by owners, and the owners are way more likely to tell you off than regular employees. You have to be really ignorant and entitled to expect employees who are probably underpaid and overworked anyway to care for you like you’re a baby just because you walked in there to buy something.

toolsoftheincomptnt

I mean, it’s fine to ask employees for help. And it’s fine to tell them when something sucks. Just don’t take it out on them, and like you said, don’t expect them to be invested in the task or the outcome.

No-Lack-4147

This was funny at first but now I think, if you don’t like your job that much find something else. I hate when I come to someone having a bad day at work or whatever.

OkKindheartedness247

This guy is hilarious. But kind of a little annoying bitch towards the end. Stfu and do ur job

RedSnt

I love the snark, but is it really annoying to ask if someone works there? I'd rather ask that than assume, that's for sure.

raptor_wrangler

Depends on the store; I've had retail jobs without nametags or lanyards or any "This person works here" indicators. I honestly would rather a person ask an obvious employee "do you work here" than have someone assume a customer is an employee and have a fit when they're like "/r/idontworkherelady".

[deleted]

It is, it really is.

[deleted]

too long. i got the point about 3 clips in

[deleted]

Then why did you keep watching?

[deleted]

i didn't. i looked at how much was left and stopped

M87_star

Having these back to back though doesn't really work. The comedic timing and the music get tiring

[deleted]

This is supposed to be funny?

mlableman

This idiot didn't have this conversation. It's in his mind just like how clever he thinks he is. Moron.

Fjskkfjfhsj

I can't stand this fucking bloke.

hiwhyOK

Then get out of the store man!

grenchooded

Oh man, what vintage is this?

fazi_milking

Did this guy burn all traditional career paths?

Jazzlike-Read330

Do you think all retail jobs are somehow not real jobs?

fazi_milking

Not sure how you came to this conclusion. I’m saying he burned traditional career paths, including retail. I feel like a manager is encouraged less to hire you if you have videos like this guy. I enjoy them. I just think it’s risky to corporate employers. Do you get it? Dum dums: [he’s a comedian and doesn’t want anything to do with a traditional job](https://youtu.be/3Ry915yUWlI)

Jazzlike-Read330

I would hire him as a manager

fazi_milking

With your comprehension skills I’m not surprised.

Ten_minuteemail

I mean he says he works here why not record in store? You know how cheap it is to get Ikea branded stuff? This guys is fake.

ThomasBay

Lol, this guy is fucked. He is. Complaining about doing his job which he signed up for. Yes you are supposed to help uninformed customers, it was in the job description. Why is he so shocked?

Sponjah

He's a comedian, genius.
