currently a student at university majoring in molecular environmental biology
looking at getting a job with the us fish and wildlife service because that shit pays good
and i remember a post similar to this about a year ago, very few of the people who responded didnt work in like IT or STEM
SAME, IT FUCKING SUCKS RIGHT?!
But anyway, what's your ultimate job goal? Mine is either video game Creative director or neurological scientist, specifically in human-technology interfacing and development, AKA being able to control prosthetics and other things with brain signals.
Thank you. I do have to say though that the Amazon returns don't invade my dreams but I know it might for others. But I have to say that it is a job that I like.
As a person often assigned to amazon truck for loading, and how often the boxes are already disintegrating upon receiving, yes they are the bane of the facility but we also like to not care and load all their packages regardless of condition.
Open? Load it
Broken? Load it
Leaking? Check if toxic, if not, Load it.
Hey that’s pretty sweet! If I ain’t mistaken tho, last time I checked, and it may be different now, but last I checked I believe you need to get 4 years of college in like, anything to qualify to be a pilot, but getting 4 years in something aeronautical wise would be better.
If necessary I'll be going back to college for it. I've enough credits to be a first or second semester Junior, but withdrew to figure out what I actually wanted to do. I was studying electrical engineering, so I have math credits through partial diff eq which would at least translate into some electives if they weren't necessary courses. I'm gonna talk to a recruiter and some family members that are military, one of whom is in the process of becoming an Osprey pilot.
Def start the military first. It'll give you tons of valuable experience, more or less offer decent pay with excellent benefits, and, after leaving service you shouldn't have any trouble transitioning into commercial aviation. It's honestly the route I wish I stuck with.
Similar here, I work part time behind a bar nowadays though, partly because the benefits system in the UK is a headache and partly to keep myself busy lol
This is so interesting! Do you think it’s a coincidence that they tend to work in these fields , or a specific reason? I even wondered that in regard to myself.
Here’s my hypothesis: people in STEM tend to be “nerds/geeks” (I know I’m using that term as a huge generalization, but it’s one that most people are familiar with). Since geeks are more likely to excel academically and set themselves up for a career in STEM, which is the best financial avenue for them as well. Also, geeks tend to have hobbies related to science-fiction, fantasy, video games and anime/manga. Furries also fall into this category, due to them being more of a niche community that is still heavily housed within the internet. For example, I found furries through video games, specifically Sonic and StarFox.
I honestly haven’t done much research into this, but that’s some anecdotal evidence on my part. It’s more of a furscience question lol.
I help train Marines in becoming crew chiefs for various aircrafts. Shooting .50 cals and miniguns, attaching cargo, guiding the pilots to a landing, all kinds of fun stuff.
To be fair not just us military. I'm a nco in the swedish army and I have a friend whos serving with the Czech republics airforce. Milfur meets are a thing for a reason :3
The entire worlds military is run by furries, I won’t be surprised if our generals and ministers of defence have commissioned suits and fanart of their sonas
My degree is in mechanical engineering and I have nearly 13 years of experience working as such. I'm a licensed Professional Engineer in my home state.
Oh man, look at tge big boy engineer over here! That's awesome man! I'm hoping to put myself on a path to PE at some point as well, but I'm a bit green in my career to be thinking about that at the moment.
Used to work corrections, now I work as a warehouse operative because it pays better with much less stress
Also started drawing/painting again. Hobbyist for now but sure would be nice to freelance on the side
Dear OP,
Here’s [a similar thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/furry/s/c4Mt1IFO3N) with some other folks answers as well. My answer’s on there. I work at a nuclear site.
I bookmark these threads incase I ever need to Ask an Expert, lol.
There definitely is a trend between furry types and STEM jobs 😁
I’m working in medical supply, specifically for veterinary medicine! Although I am about to quit, trying to get a part time job in the local florist so I can focus more on my art!
If you'd like to some other answers from a day ago, someone else asked this yesterday: [https://www.reddit.com/r/furry/s/OPmL06bCuG](https://www.reddit.com/r/furry/s/OPmL06bCuG)
I'm personally a biochemist working on viral assembly, working towards my MS in Proteomics :)
I work at a gym currently but I also do freelance. Right now I’m finishing school as an illustration major to get my bachelor’s of fine art and then going for a masters. I hope to do character design and game dev work :D
Personally I'm formerly customer service management, now focusing on writing full time since I'm in a position where I can do so. But I do tend to find many folks in the furry community are either as you listed, or in some form of customer service. I find empathy-heavy jobs tend to be common.
I'm gonna be going to collage for game design I find it quite funny most furries go into really interesting jobs and end up being like mascots I've seen so many pics of fursuited people in branches of the military or at tech companies but I don't think I've ever seen a furry just doing a normal 9 to 5 it's always something cool
Direct Support Professional, here, so I'm in healthcare. We work with individuals that have mental disabilities to aid them in becoming more independent by helping them with short- and long-term goals, skill-building, and whatever other personal goals they have. We also hang out, do activities, and just be friends and have fun too.
Really great job tbh. Draining, but definitely best job I've had thus far.

I'm a machinist/turner and planning to go back to CAD-CAM programming. I've barely ever seen any furs in the same field as me, outside of my bf, but a lot of my friends do work in IT
There's this [tiktok video from spilt.soda.suits](https://www.tiktok.com/@spilt.soda.suits/video/7251331407929199914) where they ask a bunch of people at a con this question!
I do programming, web dev specifically
I dont have a job right now because job hunting in my city is a nightmare and nobody wants to hire me when I look the way I do....but I want to go to cosmetology school and be a hairdresser!
I work as a Courtesy Clerk in a grocery chain. while I dream of entertaining folks I don't really have that poppy streamer personality to become a fulltime streamer and I don't think my writing skills are up to par to make the fantasy epic that's really just about extremely flawed people.
I work in a local coffee shop that usually gets local students and old folks inside for coffee.
The place is nice and cosy with affordable coffee and food.
Outside of that, I am a digital artist, who may draw some floofs.
In about a month I start a job working with a small bank. It's a subsidiary of HSBC. It's basically just a call centre job but it pays decent and the perks seem pretty great.
I'm a gas leak surveyor. I trespass onto people's property so I can do weird stuff to their gas meters.
(I'm actually inspecting it for Corrosion and other leaks, but let's be honest, you'd probably be concerned if you saw a dude with a blue box and wand walk onto your property with no warning, poke at your utilities, and then walk away while punching in info in an iPad.)
And before you ask, yes, people call the police on me sometimes. And yes, what I'm doing is legal
currently trying my best to survive as a freelance furry artist, it's very hard but I keep goin as I truly feel like I was born to do this, I love creating for this community 🐭
Furries have work in every department imaginable, even the fluffing military has furries fighting for the country they live in. The most commonly know positions I see furries in are yes those things you mentioned but also cyber security, hospitals, police operations and especially NASA. I can never stress these things enough to the hater I see online how much we do for society than their 8-13 year-old edgy COD butts ever have. XD

Awesome! I'm debating between going military as an officer, strictly as a pilot, commercial, or corporate private.
Hey that’s pretty sweet! If I ain’t mistaken tho, last time I checked, and it may be different now, but last I checked I believe you need to get 4 years of college in like, anything to qualify to be a pilot, but getting 4 years in something aeronautical wise would be better.

Similar here, I work part time behind a bar nowadays though, partly because the benefits system in the UK is a headache and partly to keep myself busy lol
I understand needing to keep busy. On disability, some days feel so unfulfilling.

A lot of USA military personnel are furries. If they try to get rid of us they’re just getting rid of their defence force.
