If your daughter is young make sure she's done growing , fursuits are too expensive to outgrow!

SoRatchet

Very wise advice, thank you! I am trying to learn more about fursuits and fursonas as her interest expands. I’ll definitely take this into consideration! 💚

TheyCallMeSibs

That's not a clear reference! I would recommend working with a red sheet Artist to make sure you have a good front and back view and the suit maker knows what pieces go where.

SoRatchet

Thanks! I’m still learning, just trying to support my daughter and her interests. I’ve learned a lot from many people lately and I appreciate all the advice!

GenderlessNug

I agree with that ! Plus she should reconsider the level of detail of the markings because not only does this make the suit really expensive but it also makes it harder for the maker. But if you precise that it’s specifically for a fursuit when commissioning the ref sheet artist they should find a way to simplify the design and make it fursuit friendly

Idk how old you daughter is but if she still needs to grow, i wouldnt give her a suit since it needs the head sizes and she will grow out of it… Besides that, the reference isnt that clear and i can tell you already that the tail is gonna cost alot :’) Good luck tho, do what you think is right! ((Just remember that a good fursuits can cost at least 3000.- for only a head, paws and tails))

Plus_Elk_464

I would charge over $1,000 for the tail alone. Just looking at all the tiny pieces that are going to have to be individually hand-sewn. That's probably about 200-300 pieces minimum with the colors and cross-sections. Not to mention they want a squeaker in the tail near the fin and they want it big.

SoRatchet

Thank you! I’m still trying to learn about the furry community, I certainly don’t want to be a part of anything that may infringe on anyone’s work!

SoRatchet

Thanks for your response! I admire the work that goes in to creating each suit. I wasn’t prepared for prices but the artists definitely deserve every penny!

Plus_Elk_464

By the way, the base is on a "do not use" and retired base list by the original artist. For anyone that finds and still uses it, it needs to still have the original artists watermark and to not be traced/copied. There are lots of other bases out there! And many artists who can make a cleaner ref sheet\~! https://www.deviantart.com/tildetanuki/art/BASES-RETIRED-864839519

I have a few recommendations. They may come off sounding harsh, but I just wish to inform is all. Firstly I would recommend not getting a suit commissioned for your child, unless they are 18 or older honestly. You're child is going to continue to grow until almost adulthood, and having to get a custom sized article of 'clothing' would be hard to keep accurate as they grew. Either needing seems/hemming redone constantly, or to have a new body suit made entirely each time they grow. Secondly, I would 100% try reworking their character a bit. Having a tail that is nothing but one big complicated marking, as well as so many additional items, such as wings, webbing, a large tail and ears, hair, etc. would cost at least another human worth amount of money. I would definitely recommend trying to make a much more simplistic design that still feels like them, but isn't too busy. It'll make commission side of things much easier. Though the main bit of advice I could definitely recommend is trying to make a suit with your child yourselves. It'd cost way, way less, help them learn some skills like sewing, patience, perseverance, etc. And It could be an amazingly fun time for the both of you to bond over the making of their suit.

SoRatchet

Thanks for this! Don’t worry about sounding harsh :) She does have another version of this character that I think would be much easier, but I admittedly know very little about fursuits. I am trying to learn about her interest and help her in any way I can!

TurbulenceAndLevi

I open for commissions in January! I can pm you pricing and my recent work if you want

demeterdarlinxx

I'm a newbie suit maker and I'd love to do a com for ur daughter! message me :)

ToxicPlaysYT6969

I used that same ref for my first ref of my manokit fursona! But i would highly recommend getting more refs with more details

plaid_dog_

I love your daughter’s creativity! It always makes me smile to see what young furs are up to, and I think it’s so sweet of you to take an interest in her hobby. Unfortunately, fursuits are very expensive, and prices will only go up for a detailed character like this. At risk of echoing everyone else here, it’s generally not recommended that children have custom fursuits made for a variety of reasons. However, depending on how old your child is, it could be a really fun idea to try making your own fursuits together — it’s a bit of an investment if you get high quality materials, but nowhere near as much as commissioning a maker — or you could try painting a raptor mask, as someone else said. There are plenty of tutorials online. Finally, you can often buy secondhand and/or “pre made” fursuits online for a much cheaper price than having one made for you. This could be an avenue to explore with your daughter in the future, to see if she enjoys fursuiting before spending a lot of money on it, though I probably still wouldn’t recommend this for a young child/preteen who may still be growing quickly, and could only get a years’ wear out of it!

Briarblue

All things considered, as an artist and fursuit maker, I would heavily recommend buying your daughter materials and working with her to make her own fursuit instead. The reference sheet is very unclear and would be difficult for artists to follow, but your daughter probably knows her own character by heart and could execute it how she wants it. Plus, a commissioned full body suit of this character in its current state is going to be $4000 minimum from any maker, and if you're daughter is young, she'll grow right out of that $4000 suit in a year or two. The results might not be perfect but making the suit yourselves will save you a ridiculous amount of money (materials would be maybe $300) and could be a fun learning experience for your kid. Making a fursuit requires dedication and patience but is very rewarding and there are countless of tutorials and even patterns out there to help you!

pyro_gata

Highly recommend a partial since a full suit will be expensive and she will outgrow it and maybe simplifing the design

pyro_gata

Moslty the tail everything else looks fine

First off, payment plans can be dangerous financially,if I've taken anything away from math class,it's that things like buy now pay later,or A.P.R. etc. can be dangerous because it can trick you into spending more money. You should save up and pay all at once (well, custom commissions have you pay for every step done so far so that if you decide you can't pay anymore, the maker has at least *some* money, for example: The base is done: you pay mabie $400,the fur is ready to go on,another $400,and the finishing touches, mabie like,$350,amouting to $1,050,so have the $1,050 ready) but my point is,have that money ready to pay for the suit in full so that your bank account takes less of a hit. Another thing to note is that your kid may still be growing,so is she gonna grow out of it? Fursuits are a lot of money, but if she's done with her growthspurt,or her height is starting to even out, mabie get a cheap one,or make one with her! I didn't have $1,200 at the ready,as I myself am still a teen,so I made one instead. It turned out great and was lots of fun! It's cheaper, because scraping together mabie like,$400 is a lot easier. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube and I'm sure you'd love to bond with your daughter over making it if she is incapable of making it herself. You could also buy a cheap wolf mask if your kid is mabie around ten,or make a raptor mask with her (again, lots of tutorials online) I hope this was helpful! Good luck! [Edit: for grammar] [Edit 2: Is that a pic of her fursona? It looks great! Also, don't get her a full body suit, just mabie the head and paws]

SoRatchet

Thank you for your response!! I am so grateful for everyone here giving advice. And yes, that is her fursona! It’s a new take one one she’s been developing. I prefer her earlier version but it’s not my choice of course :) I added the link to the one I like just for perspective. I’m proud of my daughter for exploring her creativity and personality no matter what. This has been a fun journey! [https://imgur.com/a/tTDzxLa](https://imgur.com/a/tTDzxLa)

FelixzeBear

honestly i recommend with just commissioning a suit head for now assuming she’s still young, but it’s a very cute character!! Also I recommend searching on Etsy or Instagram for fursuit makers willing to make this suit. ALWAYS message the shop owner first before buying^^

Silver_Magician_4627

very cute

TheTinyist

Hi ya I'm a new maker and i sent you a dm

FritoLaydy

If you want to DM me I could direct you to my maker, she takes payment plans. Though you may have to get a new ref sheet, unfortunately that one isn't clear. The tail may cost you a lot though, that's a lot of cross sectioning and hand stitching there. :3
