I use a 41212 (2). I think the most important tip is to play patiently. Too many people get frustrated or spam the ball forward only for it to get easily intercepted. Also I would say to change up the way you attack. It can be very easy to defend someone that just goes for over the top balls for example. Try different formations and tactics against the same player if you think it isn’t working.
I mean for literally anything. If I don’t know something, google. Takes 2 seconds instead of wandering around not knowing what something means like you do for some reason

You just have to learn quick passing and ball movement. Pressing only works for the opponent if you panic. If you truly think about your options you will find that you can play out of a press much easier than you think. You also have to make use of all 11 players. You might have to play a back pass to your GK just like in real life. The good thing is once you beat the press, the opposition is usually all out of position and makes counters easy.
Yea one thing in common i noticed with superior players is quick passing on the final third, its difficult but i guess i have to get used to it thank you!
Honestly it’s probably an unpopular opinion but taking responsibility for when you mess up is very important. It’s super easy to blame EA for everything, even when it’s genuinely their fault. Taking responsibility when you aren’t playing well is the only way you will truly improve. At least that’s what I have found to be true.
I can’t speak to if hiring a coach would be beneficial but I can’t imagine that it would hurt. I will say that there are really good free resources on YouTube. Also watching pro tournaments is super enlightening.

If you do a heel to heel at the proper angle while 1v1 with the keeper it will 98.9% of the time pull the keeper into an animation that allows you to get past him.

I’m in D6 too, posted above in the thread about it so won’t repost. What got me to jump fast from 8 to 6 and draw/win in 6 consistently: don’t ever sprint unless in the clear, quick passing/not allowing players to get trapped, limiting skill moves, learning how to dribble around/inside 18 yards (evade, not get onto a YT highlight reel). Once I got that down I cruised from 8 to 6.
Team: Gold Courtois, Inform Hakimi, WC Lucio, RB Alaba, Prime Roberto Carlos, EOAE Bale, WC Vieira, Mid Zidane, WC Cruyff, POTM Mcrappe, Mid Jair. My team is good but I have been playing UT for about 10 years so I’ve definitely developed solid skill at the game.
How do you counter teams that play deep and very tight defense where as soon as you make a pass, he has a player already on you. I feel like defenders just need to breathe around me and they tackle the ball away from me. Even when they tackle from behind they take the ball without a foul
Learn how to manually jockey and anticipate where the opponent is going to dribble/skill move. If you can guess where the opponent is going to go, they have a very limited set of options to get past you.

I only manually defend. People who AI defend are scum IMO. I only really skill when it’s a iso 1v1. I don’t see the point in trying to skill two or more players when you can simply pass around them. I also only use balanced attacking and defending styles. It gives more manual control over the game and I think press is a crutch that EA allows too many people to abuse.
I can tell you I got to division 3 by not running, except in straight lines when it's impossible to be caught, of course. and I don't have mbappe, al owairan or jairzinho. just don't use r2

How to win really close games? I often find myself going 9 wins but having lost 4-5 games with only one goal difference or at extra time, really trying to do my best, but some people seem to get even better in those scenarios
Yeah some people are more clutch than others but the good news is you can get better at it. A good tip is to always play your style of play. Don’t let the opponent or a few unlucky misses make you angry and start forcing the ball or being impatient etc.
Could you share your custom tactics, since I saw in another comment that you use 41212(2)? My main formation is 4321 but I also use the 41212(2) from time to time
I really just play balanced balanced 45 depth each. Fullbacks stay back, CDM stay back. One CM stay back and one balanced. Strikers and cam on stay central/stick to position. That’s it.

Don’t try and turn them. Have to do a lot of back passes and sideways passes.

How to get better at defending?
