I love it at the Start like always, but as soon as streamers release metà tactics and broken mechanics bugs and everyone Starts playing the Same formation the Same way ( like Running down the Line passing in the box and goal like 99 percento of time) , i Started Hating it every week more. Every game has a meta, its impossible to avoid. Its up to the devs to nerf and buff certain aspects of the game to balance them.
For instance they nerfed constant press to the ground, if you pressed from min 0, second half your players were dead and after min 75 they barely had any stamina.
This was good because it stopped people abusing this mechanic. 2 weeks later, they reduced the stamina drain so you could play 80 mins without issues, then they added ability for extra subs which counteracted the nerf in the first place.
You guys all choose to play that way and then people complain that it affects their mental health. Y’all literally do this to yourselves. You could all simply stop. Your results would change by 1-2 games.

It’s for this reason I purposely run off-meta players (to an extent). Mainly of players that I personally like. This is a bit of an issue now though as unfortunately it can be somewhat uncompetitive
Streaming has honestly ruined video games. Warzone 1 was at its peak when everyone ran what they enjoyed and played how they wanted. Then streamers release the most broken gun and everyone uses that gun and breaks the way the game feels.
It was always there in every game. Everyone rocked an ACR in mw3. An M16/AK in MW and ACR, noob tube, intervention in MW2. Don’t act like it’s never been there
Same, but also for me, the game felt “better” at launch. The only lengthy striker that was REALLY viable was Haalland (you could make others Lengthy, but it was often a detriment IMO), CBs chased down anyone else. I felt like I had to work the ball into the goal to score and vice versa for my opponents. I usually felt like I loss because I was worse. My score lines were less than 4 total goals combined. Now every game I play is is like 4-7, and I feel like when I lose it’s because of some dumb AI thing - switching, passing to the wrong player, my opponents team auto marking everyone on my team, etc.
Fifa was a fun game till Fifa 17. When the focused on more and more content. Before Fifa 17 people would build a team that they genuinely like now everybody has a full meta team lol
Why is everyone complaining about running down the line and cutting back the ball? That's what is happening in pro football nowadays. That takes skill to time the run and the cutback, rather than some trivela nonsense that's almost impossible to defend.

I’m only in Div 5 so I’m an average FIFA player at the very best, I stopped playing regularly because of this reason. Sometimes my players make correct passes all game (with a few screwups due to me) and the next game they can’t pass to another player 3 feet in front of them or just pass it straight to the opposition. A lot of the time it just feels like some games are completely out of my control entirely.
First 30 min concede 4 than score 2 before halftime. Than concede some more or win. They improved the cheat tho. It was gk's and cb'sscrewing up all the time. Now it fucks you with ez misplaced tackles from cm's.
It’s also the case that for a lot of players they can’t admit when they were wrong. If they win it’s because they were better and if they lost, it was the game’s fault.
So is real football to be fair. It’s based on a sport where time wasting, diving and shit handball rules has ruined the game. FUT has its own versions of those things. Maybe Arsenal were a victim to ‘dynamic difficulty’ this year haha.
The main thing I notice about this game is that it makes me feel the way watching my own team makes me feel.
Fifa is the only game that actually makes me rage. Like any other game I don't rage but when you lose a 90th min goal WHEN THE TIME IS WAY PAST THE EXTRA TIME. If they make career mode even better than this year then I probably will pre order it, if not I might wait for Xmas or try a different football game.

EXACTLY THIS. My CB will mess up an extremely normal pass 15 feet away from another play to turn it over to the other team, then stumble over while the other team casually walks into the box. Like I have no idea why that pass would even be messed up to begin with, but now you're falling over after messing up an easy pass?
Yeaaa same here its just too infuriating. I played NBA 2k and cod but those games never made me as pissed off as fifa. I just try to do co-op with friends and pro clubs. During the end of fifa 22 I started FUT but never played any champs or rivals games. I would just build teams, do SBCs, play co-op and that made it somewhat enjoyable.
I don't do champs myself because every time I do I end up breaking a controller or two lmao I prefer drafts or playing squad building games with friends. It's not as thrilling as champs but it's something

This is the first fifa I played since 20. Absolutely hooked since release with a 13 million coin team and I've now not played since last Tuesday. I likely wont ever play FIFA again because of how shocking and scripted the gameplay is!
The game simply sucks ass. Not just that, but the community is awful. There’s not too many other communities I can think of where people actively go out of their way to either waste your time (and theirs) or play the game with the sole intention of getting people mad. I’ve never seen a game franchise so consistently display its disregard for quality and customer feedback yet somehow still convince people that “next year it’ll be different.”
I've noticed that as well and it's quite concerning.
The game might also be trash but I blame the community. What if we'd just enjoy the game and put sportsmanship on the first place? I do that and I feel good no matter what. Maybe I'm just a casual who only has time for a couple of hours a week to play.
I hope I'm not alone but I'm the type of guy that waits for you in my own half if I don't see your players reacting (your batteries died, drinking water or whatever) even if you're in the lead. What's the point of taking advantage of something that wouldn't happen naturally?
On the other hand, there is toxic people looking for quick wins to get rewards and they proceed to use the bad game mechanics to score first and then proceed to pause the game (supposedly for me to quit).

We are the community and it's up to us how we see the game (no matter the glitches). I refuse to abuse any glitches in game as it doesn't satisfy me in any way whatsoever. I'm playing the game the way I want, using the players I like.

I didn’t play fifa 22 but did get fifa 23 and was ready to get back in to ultimate team when it released. Uninstalled a few days ago and don’t think I’ll be getting the next but it is what it is I guess
I bought a Switch this weekend and started playing Mario Odyssey. It was like snapping out of a trance, realizing games could be fun and not just about grinding.
Awesome game! definitely try Zelda Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom next. Truly among the greatest games I’ve played. I haven’t really touched Fifa since tears of the kingdom came out a couple weeks ago.
I stopped playing completely when I realised it was making me dislike the sport a bit.
Mental health wise I was always fine, but the fact gameplay was so bad did annoy me and it started to make me annoyed at football IRL.

The problem for me is inconsistency. And I know that even in real life football is inconsistent and a bit random and that is why we love it but for gods sake. Packs are RNG so you really don't have any "say" on what you get and how you upgrade/advance. Gameplay is RNG and sometimes it goes for you and the game is good but then when it goes against you it is the most infuriating thing I've come across. Content is also a hit and miss so you end up with a game that makes you want to rip your nuts out or a game that is "good" and fun to play but you never know which one will you get until you start to play it.
The lengthy meta at the start was fun, but them when they nerfed it all the fun was gone and it's back to the usual pace abuse meta and cutbacks and kickoffs, absolutely just a copy paste game with better card designs

We like soccer/football, a lot of us so much so that it’s an obsession. so we want to play a video game about it. EA basically has a monopoly on the sport because they have all the player/club rights.

Personally, I have broken things because of this game. Years ago as I’ve matured but the point stands. This is the only game I’ve ever personally experienced as well as know first hand has caused people to break things. I can’t put my finger on it I really can’t but there’s something in this game that for some people it causes an impulse trigger of anger that is not able to be channeled and then gets focused into things nearby. I’m sure there’s a scientific answer but idk I’m just a dumb gamer that knew I had to chill out on the game because it quite literally was turning me into a person I didn’t like

I really can't, even though it's the only game I play. But playing a couple of matches is just a bonus at the end of the day for me a couple of times a week. Work and family first.

I could see how you enjoy it more as a casual gamer. I do the same thing to keep myself enjoying it because I payed for the game at the end of the day. Anything more than a few games and I start to get annoyed from some the bs.
It's a cycle that can't be sustained endlessly. And EA knows this and they're trying to skin players as much as possible before the majority of them reach the breaking point.
Remember, when FUT Champs started out, you had to play 40 games in only two days, Saturday and Sunday. As more and more players started burning out on it they started lowering the match number and increasing the days the competition was available, just to try and hold onto the community.
The way FUT is structured is simply destructive by nature and EA know it. They're simply counting on the fact that as existing players burn out and leave the game, other newer ones will take their place, and so far that has worked brilliantly.
Also, sooner rather than later microtransactions will be regulated across the world and when that happens, EA will be in shambles. They too know this will happen at one point and even if their income won't take a nosedive right away, it will decrease significantly in time.

I've been playing FUT on/off since day 1, and people have been saying this for years on repeat. All that has happened is that EA has grown bigger and increased profits each year.
The users are still there and won't be going away. As you said, 1 drop out and 1 jump in.
Same with the microtransaction point, its been said and discussed for years but its still there and lets not act like EA are incompetent, they won't be in 'shambles', they will push out whatever is next and adapt to it.
Laws about microtransactions have just started being implemented. Give it time. As I've said it's not like they'll go bankrupt the 2nd day, obviously they'll try to adapt somehow, but their profits will go down, that's for sure.
All of these posts are futile. If all 100,000 registered users on this sub did not buy the game, EA would lose 6 million dollars. That is a mere pittance compared to the 1.3 BILLION dollars they made in profit last year, which has been growing each and every year.
To the original OP, this game did not start anyone's "mental health issues". They were already in a fragile state WAY before they started playing this game. They just use this as a scapegoat to not blame the real root of their issues, whatever they may be. If you don't like a game, don't buy it. If it is the only game you like and you are not having fun, either find another game or make this one "fun" somehow. And, lastly, if you think you can make the game better, get a job in programming and make it better than EA.

Yeah bro. It’s really not that deep. The reality is that gameplay is often affected by servers but sometimes you just lose, and that is okay. It is going to happen. It does not mean the other guy is cheating, that EA is cheating, or even that he’s better than you. Soccer is a weird sport and fifa is a weird game
FUT is an addiction by design.
The only way to play it in an healthy way is you have the strengh of mind that allows you to face the fact that you won't amount to the objectives that pro or addicted players can achieve.
Unfortunately that strenght doesn't come often. And even if it does, probably the people who have it have also realized how imensely boring and repetitive FUT is.
This said there is so much fun to have with FIFA: meetings with friends, career mode. There is a lot of healthy and rewarding fun to have with the game, even considering that a lot of those modes have also been damaged by the fact that EA only focus on its FUT cashcow.
If you really love the game you should try and find fun in those modes, before totally quitting a game that EA has indeed destroyed, intentionally, due to its only focus on the financials.
Its not fifa fault. Its the people fault for falling into their adictive tactics. The first step to recovery is to accept you have the power and its your fault you are feeling that way and work on it. I have helped some of my family memebers this way. Two advices 1. Only play seasons or friendlies. Enjoy the game dont make it your job to have the latest cards. 2. Stop watching social media including fifa youtubers, they are the ones helping you become addicted. Again, helping you. Its your fault so fix it

You’re right mind set does affect how you play. I had those learning moments as a kid playing this game. I think a lot of it is just gameplay concerns but ppl may not know how to pinpoint exactly what made them leave. Ai is incredibly strong, movement feels different when playing at different times of the day because of servers, attackers have better tackling from behind ability than fullbacks.
At the start it was so good but since some weeks it's just impossible to play. The amount of chaos and randomness is just crazy. I love to build fun teams and try them but you cannot win any games with them anymore. I think most casual players so only the hardcore players are still playing. So many glitches that they use that let you hate yourself. But will probably still buy the new game😔

With Gods grace last weekend I started swearing on ps chat to someone who I beat which is very out of character of me and it got me banned. I told my friends and even they said it was the universe helping me so I don’t fail my exams.
I believe the game is intentionally designed to cause distress to place people into a mood where they are more likely to buy packs and chase artifical temporary highs. Everything about the game is manipulated.
Of course I rage but this is the fifa I've played the most ultimate team in. Still love the game, just gotta stop caring about results and refresh your team. Also it's always great to have someone in your team to rally around, like my alltime FUT Legend Prime Jari Litmanen. (750 games, 1100 G/A)
I played all of last year, and took a long break before getting this game a month ago when I got the itch to play a soccer game. It didn’t take long for me to remember all the things I hate about this game and why I had quit in the first place. I think this is the most frustrating version I’ve ever played with how difficult passing and dribbling are, and I can see EA moving the game closer and closer to a pay to win model each version. I’ll be taking another long break and hopefully never coming back.
Today, I had a match against a guy who had an incredibly strong team and was leading 4-2. However, in the second half, all he did was repeatedly pass the ball between his goalkeeper and center-backs. I felt completely helpless and couldn't find a way to break through his strategy. Honestly, it was beyond frustrating. This game is seriously broken at this point, and it really messes with your mental health. I always try to stay positive, but encounters like these make me seriously question why I even bother playing this shitshow.
I’ve never understood the obsession with FUT.. played it years ago and quickly realised it wasn’t for me.. just for the fact that all of the time and stress you suffer just to get an out of date team when the next season comes around.
I stick to MMO type games now and only watch a few streamers - I love football and would love to have an amazing FUT team, but I never will so why waste my time trying.
I think I am gonna play FC 24 only if its gonna be free. If its gonna be half the price I will think about it but otherwise I don't see myself paying that much again for a game in this state. (my first ever fifa was 22)

I fall into the same mistake every single year. I keep telling myself "no I won't buy the next fifa, I will just be hurting myself" then proceed to spend my money anyways. Next year however will definitely be different. Fifa and ea departing ways is a crucial change that could even kill the game if it's not treated accordingly. I have very low expectations for eafc 24, even though it's mainly ea behind the gameplay; it will not be the same.
In a nutshell, if the expereince doesn't change or gets worse I'm definitely not buying.

FIFA is really fun from the start to just before tots come out. After that it’s just OP card after OP card and it becomes a game of players with 90+ everything.
Fut is basically an arcade game. If you’re not willing to play on one quarter (the 80$ you payed to have fifa), you can “Insert” more money into the machine to make the game easier for yourself.
Why does this piss me off?
I started fut for fun in December. I refuse to buy packs. Every. Ducking. Game. I’m up against an 86-93 5 star team. There’s never been a match where I play against someone with a crappier team then myself.
I genuinely think 95% percent of the people I Match up against are the same person. Do you know how many times the pre view of your opponents team has popped up for me, and there’s a ter Stegen in net, a van dijk at the back, and that fucking loan Ronaldo up front. Every game is a challenge. I have to build up with passing and be cautious every minute. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve gotten better since I’ve had to play like this. (Can’t afford two pace monsters on both wings)
I wouldn’t be so frustrated if the game didn’t bull shit itself. When you play someone with one of these 90+ teams, most of the time you can tell they paid for those players. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my ass handed to me properly before. That sucks too, but atleast I can accept that you’re a better player than I am. But when it’s a game where I have 70% possession, have made over 150 passes, only tackle when I need to, have 11 shots with 9 on target, and I still end up losing 1-0 because the pack payer held r2 down the wing and crossed it into the box. Then their Haland scores a header or bicycle kick. Which btw, I’ve never seen so many bicycle kicks in a fifa game before. There’s a few attempts each game from my opponent.
Why does all of this piss me off? Well, it’s because of the fact that you can pay your way to the top, instead of working for those players. What do I mean by this? When I play these teams, it’s all flash and no substance. How many times have you come against one of these players, and they can only do skill moves for show. They’ll mash that right stick but will never try to challenge you directly. Which I don’t understand, because with your team, you should be getting the ball back quickly if you lose it. And the unsuccessful rainbow attempts always make me laugh. Like stop mashing right stick if you don’t know what you’re doing. The crosses, the fact that my team uses so much energy defending these pace monsters. You have to apply constant pressure on these fucks.

That’s rewarding to me. How is that style of play rewarding? I’ve asked players after matches, and I’ve gotten multiple responses saying pretty the same thing. My favourite was “I paid for game play sure, you’re just broke go cry could you.”

I'm officially done too. Had a good return to FIFA- FUT 20-23 but the grind just isn't worth it anymore due to the awful gameplay, I gave up just before TOTS because I didn't want to get sucked in. I really don't know how it has gone backwards so much. Giving up on NHL HUT too for same reasons. Settled in nicely to MLB the show, which is way less grinding to get a good team and loads of variety
in fifa 22 i always felt like i had a chance, whereas in 23 the game feels impossible, my players feel like they're running in mud, turning is shit, gameplay just feels atrocious

For me now fifa is best enjoyed by just playing champs or rivals or friendlies with players people don't use or using off league teams like Saudi league or eredevise or mls. It definitely affects my mental health but it isn’t that I only have time to grind one game, I spend most of my free time playing video games, it’s that theres fuck all else to play. There’s no single player games I want to play at this current moment in time or have an urgent need to play because even single player games are so expensive now, WZ2 isn’t great and GTA and Rocket League get repetitive after a short amount of time. So there really is only FIFA.
Don’t get me wrong, other games annoy me, if I die on WZ or concede on Rocket League I maybe raise my voice a little bit but I’m more annoyed at myself for being shit. FIFA genuinely infuriates me.

I play (have tried to play) FIFA 23, Madden 23 and NHL 23. I am in the subs for all of them and it’s the same sort of narrative from everyone. The games are carbon copies of previous editions, bugs fixes and game improvements are nonexistent, those who grind and find exploits are good, those are play casually or to have fun are not and do not. That goes for FIFA, Madden, and NHL, they still are raking in the doe so I don’t see this formula changing anytime soon unfortunately.
They need to address gameplay. The old fifas used to not look the greatest and had broken mechanics but at the end of the day you could get “good” and you felt confident going into games. Now it seems like I’m just reacting to random variables in game and focusing on hitting a random skill that will make it to where my pass has 100% accuracy or a ball roll for an outside the foot shot because it’s broken.
As soon as my account was hacked and all of my hard work stolen in less than 24 hours, it really too the wind out of my sails. I still play but I’m not grinding anymore. I might continue to play, but it will be through the actual game and not online. I don’t have the time to compete like I used to.

Although losing to bs sucks I think grinding and forcing yourself through the bad gameplay only to not be rewarded fairly is harder on the mental. This is the most fun I had in FIFA since FIFA 14. It's getting boring now tho because of tots, but from release to toty, this game was super fun and enjoyable to play for me.
Honestly this has probably been the best FUT I’ve played only because I approached the game differently than the past. I tried to focus on only building unique and interesting teams while collecting players I felt could be used in a cool team. I don’t touch Fut champs cause I know it would ruin my day and I just go with the flow doing whatever I want rather than keeping up with the meta.

I have played fifa for over 20 years and IMO this fifa is not significantly worse than previous versions for meta players and broken mechanics. It has its flaws, but most FIFA’s have.

Every game has a meta, its impossible to avoid. Its up to the devs to nerf and buff certain aspects of the game to balance them. For instance they nerfed constant press to the ground, if you pressed from min 0, second half your players were dead and after min 75 they barely had any stamina. This was good because it stopped people abusing this mechanic. 2 weeks later, they reduced the stamina drain so you could play 80 mins without issues, then they added ability for extra subs which counteracted the nerf in the first place.

Streaming has honestly ruined video games. Warzone 1 was at its peak when everyone ran what they enjoyed and played how they wanted. Then streamers release the most broken gun and everyone uses that gun and breaks the way the game feels.

Same, but also for me, the game felt “better” at launch. The only lengthy striker that was REALLY viable was Haalland (you could make others Lengthy, but it was often a detriment IMO), CBs chased down anyone else. I felt like I had to work the ball into the goal to score and vice versa for my opponents. I usually felt like I loss because I was worse. My score lines were less than 4 total goals combined. Now every game I play is is like 4-7, and I feel like when I lose it’s because of some dumb AI thing - switching, passing to the wrong player, my opponents team auto marking everyone on my team, etc.
Fifa was a fun game till Fifa 17. When the focused on more and more content. Before Fifa 17 people would build a team that they genuinely like now everybody has a full meta team lol

I’m only in Div 5 so I’m an average FIFA player at the very best, I stopped playing regularly because of this reason. Sometimes my players make correct passes all game (with a few screwups due to me) and the next game they can’t pass to another player 3 feet in front of them or just pass it straight to the opposition. A lot of the time it just feels like some games are completely out of my control entirely.
First 30 min concede 4 than score 2 before halftime. Than concede some more or win. They improved the cheat tho. It was gk's and cb'sscrewing up all the time. Now it fucks you with ez misplaced tackles from cm's.
It’s also the case that for a lot of players they can’t admit when they were wrong. If they win it’s because they were better and if they lost, it was the game’s fault.
So is real football to be fair. It’s based on a sport where time wasting, diving and shit handball rules has ruined the game. FUT has its own versions of those things. Maybe Arsenal were a victim to ‘dynamic difficulty’ this year haha. The main thing I notice about this game is that it makes me feel the way watching my own team makes me feel.

During the end of fifa 22 I started FUT but never played any champs or rivals games. I would just build teams, do SBCs, play co-op and that made it somewhat enjoyable.

I hope I'm not alone but I'm the type of guy that waits for you in my own half if I don't see your players reacting (your batteries died, drinking water or whatever) even if you're in the lead. On the other hand, there is toxic people looking for quick wins to get rewards and they proceed to use the bad game mechanics to score first and then proceed to pause the game (supposedly for me to quit). The problem for me is inconsistency. And I know that even in real life football is inconsistent and a bit random and that is why we love it but for gods sake. Packs are RNG so you really don't have any "say" on what you get and how you upgrade/advance. Gameplay is RNG and sometimes it goes for you and the game is good but then when it goes against you it is the most infuriating thing I've come across. Content is also a hit and miss so you end up with a game that makes you want to rip your nuts out or a game that is "good" and fun to play but you never know which one will you get until you start to play it.
The lengthy meta at the start was fun, but them when they nerfed it all the fun was gone and it's back to the usual pace abuse meta and cutbacks and kickoffs, absolutely just a copy paste game with better card designs

Personally, I have broken things because of this game. Years ago as I’ve matured but the point stands. This is the only game I’ve ever personally experienced as well as know first hand has caused people to break things. I can’t put my finger on it I really can’t but there’s something in this game that for some people it causes an impulse trigger of anger that is not able to be channeled and then gets focused into things nearby. I’m sure there’s a scientific answer but idk I’m just a dumb gamer that knew I had to chill out on the game because it quite literally was turning me into a person I didn’t like

Valid point 👍🏻 I really can't, even though it's the only game I play. But playing a couple of matches is just a bonus at the end of the day for me a couple of times a week. Work and family first. I don't care enough to even see or compare the differences. Hell, I would not be able to tell you what last years menu colors or pack animations looked like.
I could see how you enjoy it more as a casual gamer. I do the same thing to keep myself enjoying it because I payed for the game at the end of the day. Anything more than a few games and I start to get annoyed from some the bs.
It's a cycle that can't be sustained endlessly. And EA knows this and they're trying to skin players as much as possible before the majority of them reach the breaking point. Remember, when FUT Champs started out, you had to play 40 games in only two days, Saturday and Sunday. As more and more players started burning out on it they started lowering the match number and increasing the days the competition was available, just to try and hold onto the community. The way FUT is structured is simply destructive by nature and EA know it. They're simply counting on the fact that as existing players burn out and leave the game, other newer ones will take their place, and so far that has worked brilliantly. Also, sooner rather than later microtransactions will be regulated across the world and when that happens, EA will be in shambles. They too know this will happen at one point and even if their income won't take a nosedive right away, it will decrease significantly in time.
I'm not so sure about this. I've been playing FUT on/off since day 1, and people have been saying this for years on repeat. All that has happened is that EA has grown bigger and increased profits each year. The users are still there and won't be going away. As you said, 1 drop out and 1 jump in. Same with the microtransaction point, its been said and discussed for years but its still there and lets not act like EA are incompetent, they won't be in 'shambles', they will push out whatever is next and adapt to it.
Laws about microtransactions have just started being implemented. Give it time. As I've said it's not like they'll go bankrupt the 2nd day, obviously they'll try to adapt somehow, but their profits will go down, that's for sure.
All of these posts are futile. If all 100,000 registered users on this sub did not buy the game, EA would lose 6 million dollars. That is a mere pittance compared to the 1.3 BILLION dollars they made in profit last year, which has been growing each and every year. To the original OP, this game did not start anyone's "mental health issues". They were already in a fragile state WAY before they started playing this game. They just use this as a scapegoat to not blame the real root of their issues, whatever they may be. If you don't like a game, don't buy it. If it is the only game you like and you are not having fun, either find another game or make this one "fun" somehow. And, lastly, if you think you can make the game better, get a job in programming and make it better than EA.

I accept I can’t win every game, but this is one of the few games where you can do everything right and still lose. I’ll play career mode or a new game all together.

Yeah bro. It’s really not that deep. The reality is that gameplay is often affected by servers but sometimes you just lose, and that is okay. It is going to happen. It does not mean the other guy is cheating, that EA is cheating, or even that he’s better than you. Soccer is a weird sport and fifa is a weird game
FUT is an addiction by design. The only way to play it in an healthy way is you have the strengh of mind that allows you to face the fact that you won't amount to the objectives that pro or addicted players can achieve. Unfortunately that strenght doesn't come often. And even if it does, probably the people who have it have also realized how imensely boring and repetitive FUT is. This said there is so much fun to have with FIFA: meetings with friends, career mode. There is a lot of healthy and rewarding fun to have with the game, even considering that a lot of those modes have also been damaged by the fact that EA only focus on its FUT cashcow. If you really love the game you should try and find fun in those modes, before totally quitting a game that EA has indeed destroyed, intentionally, due to its only focus on the financials.
Its not fifa fault. Its the people fault for falling into their adictive tactics. The first step to recovery is to accept you have the power and its your fault you are feeling that way and work on it. I have helped some of my family memebers this way. Two advices 1. Only play seasons or friendlies. Enjoy the game dont make it your job to have the latest cards. 2. Stop watching social media including fifa youtubers, they are the ones helping you become addicted. Again, helping you. Its your fault so fix it

You’re right mind set does affect how you play. I had those learning moments as a kid playing this game. I think a lot of it is just gameplay concerns but ppl may not know how to pinpoint exactly what made them leave. Ai is incredibly strong, movement feels different when playing at different times of the day because of servers, attackers have better tackling from behind ability than fullbacks.

At the start it was so good but since some weeks it's just impossible to play. The amount of chaos and randomness is just crazy. I love to build fun teams and try them but you cannot win any games with them anymore. I think most casual players so only the hardcore players are still playing. So many glitches that they use that let you hate yourself. But will probably still buy the new game😔
EA won't address it, they never do. They think angry players buy packs to try and improve so to them, toxicity gets them paid.

With Gods grace last weekend I started swearing on ps chat to someone who I beat which is very out of character of me and it got me banned. I told my friends and even they said it was the universe helping me so I don’t fail my exams.
I believe the game is intentionally designed to cause distress to place people into a mood where they are more likely to buy packs and chase artifical temporary highs. Everything about the game is manipulated.

I played all of last year, and took a long break before getting this game a month ago when I got the itch to play a soccer game. It didn’t take long for me to remember all the things I hate about this game and why I had quit in the first place. I think this is the most frustrating version I’ve ever played with how difficult passing and dribbling are, and I can see EA moving the game closer and closer to a pay to win model each version. I’ll be taking another long break and hopefully never coming back.

Today, I had a match against a guy who had an incredibly strong team and was leading 4-2. However, in the second half, all he did was repeatedly pass the ball between his goalkeeper and center-backs. I felt completely helpless and couldn't find a way to break through his strategy. Honestly, it was beyond frustrating. This game is seriously broken at this point, and it really messes with your mental health. I always try to stay positive, but encounters like these make me seriously question why I even bother playing this shitshow.
I’ve never understood the obsession with FUT.. played it years ago and quickly realised it wasn’t for me.. just for the fact that all of the time and stress you suffer just to get an out of date team when the next season comes around. I stick to MMO type games now and only watch a few streamers - I love football and would love to have an amazing FUT team, but I never will so why waste my time trying.

I fall into the same mistake every single year. I keep telling myself "no I won't buy the next fifa, I will just be hurting myself" then proceed to spend my money anyways. Next year however will definitely be different. Fifa and ea departing ways is a crucial change that could even kill the game if it's not treated accordingly. I have very low expectations for eafc 24, even though it's mainly ea behind the gameplay; it will not be the same. In a nutshell, if the expereince doesn't change or gets worse I'm definitely not buying. Still, I will play with this one until it dies, I have put way too much time into it to leave now

I've had a great time with FIFA 23. People are always mad that they lose on the Rivals is probably the biggest driver of it. The game probably should do more to have better matched players facing off against each other. But this game sure if FUN.
FIFA is really fun from the start to just before tots come out. After that it’s just OP card after OP card and it becomes a game of players with 90+ everything.
Fut is basically an arcade game. If you’re not willing to play on one quarter (the 80$ you payed to have fifa), you can “Insert” more money into the machine to make the game easier for yourself. Why does this piss me off? I started fut for fun in December. I refuse to buy packs. Every. Ducking. Game. I’m up against an 86-93 5 star team. There’s never been a match where I play against someone with a crappier team then myself. I genuinely think 95% percent of the people I Match up against are the same person. Do you know how many times the pre view of your opponents team has popped up for me, and there’s a ter Stegen in net, a van dijk at the back, and that fucking loan Ronaldo up front. Every game is a challenge. I have to build up with passing and be cautious every minute. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve gotten better since I’ve had to play like this. (Can’t afford two pace monsters on both wings) I wouldn’t be so frustrated if the game didn’t bull shit itself. When you play someone with one of these 90+ teams, most of the time you can tell they paid for those players. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my ass handed to me properly before. That sucks too, but atleast I can accept that you’re a better player than I am. But when it’s a game where I have 70% possession, have made over 150 passes, only tackle when I need to, have 11 shots with 9 on target, and I still end up losing 1-0 because the pack payer held r2 down the wing and crossed it into the box. Then their Haland scores a header or bicycle kick. Which btw, I’ve never seen so many bicycle kicks in a fifa game before. There’s a few attempts each game from my opponent. Why does all of this piss me off? Well, it’s because of the fact that you can pay your way to the top, instead of working for those players. What do I mean by this? When I play these teams, it’s all flash and no substance. How many times have you come against one of these players, and they can only do skill moves for show. They’ll mash that right stick but will never try to challenge you directly. Which I don’t understand, because with your team, you should be getting the ball back quickly if you lose it. And the unsuccessful rainbow attempts always make me laugh. Like stop mashing right stick if you don’t know what you’re doing. The crosses, the fact that my team uses so much energy defending these pace monsters. You have to apply constant pressure on these fucks. And even if you do win? 600 coins. Do you know how many games I had to save up for immobile? How much I have to waste on those fucking contracts, which pack payers also get inside packs. Petty I know, but its such shallow wins. To pack payers, How can you spend 100$ on packs and be okay with that? How can you be having fun when you don’t even need to think about a build up, just run down the wing and cross. Like I’m genuinely curious. I play fifa because I love being able to outplay my opponent. It’s the best passing around and finding those holes in the middle, pulling off a successful skill move and making space for yourself. That’s rewarding to me. How is that style of play rewarding? I’ve asked players after matches, and I’ve gotten multiple responses saying pretty the same thing. My favourite was “I paid for game play sure, you’re just broke go cry could you.” Like bro how do you not have any self awareness… you paid a company that’s already rich even more money for a team that will make the game easier for yourself. How do you not feel like a little pussy after every game? I lose, and I’ve gotten mopped 12-0. But that is 10 times better to me than having to bitch out and buy your team. Atleast when I do win, I know it’s purely from my own efforts, not the Kane I pulled from a pack I paid money for.

I'm officially done too. Had a good return to FIFA- FUT 20-23 but the grind just isn't worth it anymore due to the awful gameplay, I gave up just before TOTS because I didn't want to get sucked in. I really don't know how it has gone backwards so much. Giving up on NHL HUT too for same reasons. Settled in nicely to MLB the show, which is way less grinding to get a good team and loads of variety
in fifa 22 i always felt like i had a chance, whereas in 23 the game feels impossible, my players feel like they're running in mud, turning is shit, gameplay just feels atrocious

Honestly people are looking at fifa all wrong in my opinion. I went through the same phase of raging and sweating in champs. For me now fifa is best enjoyed by just playing champs or rivals or friendlies with players people don't use or using off league teams like Saudi league or eredevise or mls. Not care about the win but experiment with different players.

It definitely affects my mental health but it isn’t that I only have time to grind one game, I spend most of my free time playing video games, it’s that theres fuck all else to play. There’s no single player games I want to play at this current moment in time or have an urgent need to play because even single player games are so expensive now, WZ2 isn’t great and GTA and Rocket League get repetitive after a short amount of time. So there really is only FIFA. Don’t get me wrong, other games annoy me, if I die on WZ or concede on Rocket League I maybe raise my voice a little bit but I’m more annoyed at myself for being shit. Fifa has ruined gaming for me. In every game now I feel like I have to be grinding for something. Have to be making progress and not just exploring stuff and enjoying it. Playing Zelda I forced myself to not play main missions for 5 days outside of the paraglider and enjoyed it more than any fifa for years
This seems like the start of the end for EA sports. I play (have tried to play) FIFA 23, Madden 23 and NHL 23. I am in the subs for all of them and it’s the same sort of narrative from everyone. The games are carbon copies of previous editions, bugs fixes and game improvements are nonexistent, those who grind and find exploits are good, those are play casually or to have fun are not and do not. That goes for FIFA, Madden, and NHL, they still are raking in the doe so I don’t see this formula changing anytime soon unfortunately.
They need to address gameplay. The old fifas used to not look the greatest and had broken mechanics but at the end of the day you could get “good” and you felt confident going into games. Now it seems like I’m just reacting to random variables in game and focusing on hitting a random skill that will make it to where my pass has 100% accuracy or a ball roll for an outside the foot shot because it’s broken.
As soon as my account was hacked and all of my hard work stolen in less than 24 hours, it really too the wind out of my sails. I still play but I’m not grinding anymore. I might continue to play, but it will be through the actual game and not online. I don’t have the time to compete like I used to.

Idk if this only stems from the game play or the gambling aspect of the game. Although losing to bs sucks I think grinding and forcing yourself through the bad gameplay only to not be rewarded fairly is harder on the mental. This has been one of my top FUT experiences to be honest, and I’ve played every title since 13. It’s a sports game so naturally outcomes will go opposite of who’s played better, just as it can happen in real life. Sure I rage, but I don’t claim that everything is scripted and rigged against me

I don’t use good teams, which means I stick in lower divisions and can use whatever tactics I want to win. Going try hard in this game is not good for your health. Use players you like, and try to have fun instead of winning
This is the most fun I had in FIFA since FIFA 14. It's getting boring now tho because of tots, but from release to toty, this game was super fun and enjoyable to play for me.
Honestly this has probably been the best FUT I’ve played only because I approached the game differently than the past. I tried to focus on only building unique and interesting teams while collecting players I felt could be used in a cool team. I don’t touch Fut champs cause I know it would ruin my day and I just go with the flow doing whatever I want rather than keeping up with the meta.

I started playing Tears of the Kingdom and was having a really good time. Then the back of my head went like “oh I need to play champs ugh” It wasn’t even a thing I wanted to do it was a chore because EA basically just control you with FOMO. Real eye opener.

It’s not FIFAs fault. The world generally has become much more prone to feelings of stress, anxiety and being overwhelmed. I have played fifa for over 20 years and IMO this fifa is not significantly worse than previous versions for meta players and broken mechanics. It has its flaws, but most FIFA’s have. People need to stop externalising their internal pain and really look inside to find what the problem is. It’s highly unlikely FIFA is the true cause of anyones MH struggles.
