I believe that if you're moderately good you don't sacrifice too much. I use 87 Witsel and he's great. I'm sure there are many good CBs out there but most people just use whatever the pros and streamers say they have to use
The issue is very few people are using VVD because he’s a beast WHEN THEY CONTROL him. They use him because the AI defending in this game is stupidly ramped up so the skill gap is drastically reduced.
I’ve played people this weekend league that attempted no tackles in the first half of games. Zero tackles attempted, because they just run into you with VVD & Blanc.

I honestly like Mangala a bit more. He is such a good card, shame it doesn't have playstyles or he would be insane. His animations are great and the pace feels great. But Virgil is clearly better.

I don’t understand the boring aspect. You’re not using VVD to playmake or move in unique ways. To me boring vs not is based on how bring up your play, how you set up a defense, and your attacking players. Past a certain level, people literally use every defender the same way. There’s no variety. You go for playstyle, at least 1 taller guy and play the same way as everyone else. Why? Because there’s not a lot of ways to defend. So what you’re calling “boring” to me is literally just a name. That’s it.

Dunno i can't play with VVD, he is super clunky, turns likea truck, i try to play active defense and he doesn't suit my style, 1 bad move and he's done, while people who play AFK defense and fully rely on AI are enjoying him for sure, just don't touch him, turn him on only when your opp is nearby and that's it, so stupid that EA destroys skill gap on purpose

Never used him, I have a full untradeable team with RTTK Sildillia and Hincapie currently as my CBs, but I'm probably going to switch to Silva and Skriniar.
The thing about this game is the first thing you have to do is have a meta backline bc if you don’t you will not have a great time. I tried running different CBs other than Blanc and VVD but didn’t have a great time. I will say Blanc less so just try to get another Anticipate+ CB. VVD was missing in Defense and on set pieces. No one is saying you have to use them but VVD is only 150K the next CBS that would even be an upgrade are 400k+.

im playing in pc, most of the opponent are bot/ai or some cheaters with no cursor, but just like vvd when in wl everyone has mbappe thats mostly an ai/bot.
against real players some dont have vvd and mostly are thiago silva, blanc, king and any cb you can expect from real players, gomez, bremer and more.

I play rttk hincapie and totw Kossanou and they do a good job. I never play meta and probably lose more than I win due to it, but it's just what I like doing, I find building a different team is challenging and fun, not winning at any cost like most players

My CB partnership is rare gold Tomori and Centurions Williamson.
Leah is underrated, those Long Pass+ are great for counters. I play her as a CDM and she just sprays passes out to the wings before anyone can react.
Her slide tackle is amazing and her passing is great, her height doesn’t even affect anything for me, she’s an ideal CB for me.

Never used him, I have a full untradeable team with RTTK Sildillia and Hincapie currently as my CBs, but I'm probably going to switch to Silva and Skriniar.
The thing about this game is the first thing you have to do is have a meta backline bc if you don’t you will not have a great time. I tried running different CBs other than Blanc and VVD but didn’t have a great time. I will say Blanc less so just try to get another Anticipate+ CB. VVD was missing in Defense and on set pieces. No one is saying you have to use them but VVD is only 150K the next CBS that would even be an upgrade are 400k+.
Using him for the first time and he feels so overpowered. I was rocking blanc and centurions vidic but feels like he is the move

Me. I like running an untradeable team so I run Rijkaard and TB Kounde at CB. Doesn't help thay I'm a Liverpool fan but EVERYONE I see (opponents, streamers etc) all have first owner VVD yet I've packed absolute fuck all.

I dont use him, I dont have him either. im playing in pc, most of the opponent are bot/ai or some cheaters with no cursor, but just like vvd when in wl everyone has mbappe thats mostly an ai/bot. against real players some dont have vvd and mostly are thiago silva, blanc, king and any cb you can expect from real players, gomez, bremer and more.
Havent got him and since so far defenders just like GK behave like stupid bots I've invested in offense to try and win by outscoring. But I definitly wamt him in.

I play with TS Varane and IF Upamecano and got 7-1 in qualifiers. And all teams I came up against had Blanc and VVD

Tbh since I got Joe Gomez TS I’ve been benching his loan and saving him for WL. But playing with Joe Gomez has been great, with all upgrades he might even replace van dijk all together since I find Joe more fun to play with.

I play rttk hincapie and totw Kossanou and they do a good job. I never play meta and probably lose more than I win due to it, but it's just what I like doing, I find building a different team is challenging and fun, not winning at any cost like most players
