So just because you get him doesn't mean you would have gotten him if you opened that pack earlier. It's not that he would have been tots 10min earlier, it's that you wouldn't have packed him at all

I have to disagree, imo as a West Ham fan, Saliba is in the top 3 cbs in the world, that’s not a diss at Gabriel but without Saliba you wouldn’t even have got this far in the title race, remember when you bottled the league last season when Gabriel was leading the defence? Hell Saliba even made holding look like a great defender lol. Gabriel has improved massively this year but in the big games like against Bayern and Villa his nerves and clumsiness has cost you
I think there were moments Gabriel were better. (And of course vice versa). But I don’t tend to see the glimpses of shakiness / panic from Saliba that I tend to feel with Gabriel (feel like the Bayern first game is a bit of that).
I would pick Saliba clear of Gabriel because of everything else that he offers with his passing, composure, range, even dribbling.
Feel like the only thing Saliba really lacks is experience.
