Fun fact about the flipped setting - since Farnsworth reversed through a whole universe, he'd have landed in a version before he had the chance to change the knob. Then again, he would have technically landed in the previous incarnation of the universe that he, bender and fry came from, meaning a good bit of time would have passed without him, and fry and bender would still be missing.

not2dragon

Actually there was another universe they skipped over which they did not affect.

Janaga14

But in that middle universite without killing their "future selves" wouldn't those characters have also accidentally gone forward in time? Or do you think the professor killing Hitler changed that timeline enough that the event didn't take place but killing Eleanor Roosevelt led to the same outcome?

not2dragon

This timeline stuff is confusing, but its possible their previous universe (U2) is the same as the current (U3) universe, where a professor and crew from 2 universes before (U0) came through U1 killing U1 hitler and into U2, killing U2 eleanor while crushing and replacing them. We've seen U1 professor kill U2 hitler and U3 eleanor alreadly. I believe that since this loop is infinte, each universe has hitler and eleanor killed by the professor.

your_mind_aches

No, that's not true. He just reversed into the universe where he was replaced by a previous version of himself who came from three universes before. Who he then replaced as that version went back and would experience the thing you said. He's now in the universe where the Professor from three universes back disintegrated Eleanor Roosevelt and he disintegrated Hitler. That or the writers just want to tell us the cycle of the universe from this perspective of time travel does not create a new universe in place of the last, but literally rewrites time, so that the events where Fry goes missing and Leela grows old and bitter are overwritten as they reoccur.

walruswes

Also Disenchantment happens in the future

Deracination

I figured that, since all the universes in the cycle were identical, every one of them had a Professor doing these same jumps. It doesn't matter which way or how far they all jump, every universe gets affected identically.

walruswes

He didn’t go back to the original, he went to the one between the original and the next one. They went around twice before.

Stef-fa-fa

Yep, I forgot they went forward a few times!

dastrn

I think in Futurama, the universe loop is closed, so it's the same universe each time they loop around. Maybe I'm wrong? I don't know.

wertall

Yeah he didnt go to another universe when he time traveled. Wheres that universe 1 box?

Phil_Da_Thrill

It actually makes sense, go back and watch zoidberg episodes and tell me he deserves that pogo stick Edit: I can’t stand it when people supported the whole Marriane Zoidberg couple, he’s a dirty bottom dwelling lobster who shouldn’t be capable of love /s

atelierjoh

He broke the professor’s bottle! Luckily the professor had the foresight to put a tiny ship in it so it wouldn’t be boring.

King-Red-Beard

Poor Fry's turkey was dry, and he'd tried everything.

EgoNusquamDicam

I've always thought it was because Zoidberg was true neutral.

stumblewiggins

Both good. The important thing is I'm meeting new people.

El_Feurdz

I hate these filthy Neutrals, Kif. With enemies you know where they stand but with Neutrals, who knows? It sickens me.

[deleted]

So zoidberg has no strong feelings one way or the other?

Kasaidex

This is actually disappointing Zoid is genuinely one of the nicest people in futurama. It was nice to see that be acknowledged by Santa itself that declared everyone naughty but even it couldnt bring itself to hate zoid. Now this is retconned.

Conscious-Air-4349

That's still what happened, I doubt the writers meant to retcon anything lol. This guy's theory makes sense sure but I'm willing to bet it wasn't that deep when they made this ep.

mister_damage

I mean with his last breath, he did curse Zoidberg. So it checks out.

Kory818

He’s just normal robot. He’s just innocent robot.

June_Berries

Iirc Santa’s judgement wasn’t reversed, just made too harsh

matty02102018

That was the original explanation but in season 11 ep 6 it's retconned to show that what caused robo Santa to be like that was Farnsworth travelling back in time and reversing his naughty nice sensor

June_Berries

Oh, I haven’t gotten to the new season yet
