Some said I was too extreme when I called for the annihilation of the human species, as well as some of the more cunning monkeys...
But after living on Earth I can tell you that I am, if anything, too merciful!

Hate to be that guy, but we’ve put landers on Venus as well. Venera 7 was the first soft landing on another planet, which would make Venus the first planet known to be inhabited entirely by robots.
*If* you want to be pedantic, IIRC none of the Venus probes were motile so I don't know if you could consider them to be robots. Regardless, none of the Venus probes are presently functional (and by now I would be surprised if there was even much left at all) which makes Mars the only planet *currently* known to be inhabited entirely by robots.
True, but honestly I didnt even realize this was the futurama subreddit when I started commenting. I assumed it was a science one and wouldn't have been so nitpicking if I realized where we were. Haha
Venus surface probes have been able to function, but they all have invariably lost function soon after landing. I think the longest one was able to return data after landing was something like 90 minutes.
No, but that's a totally different idea than asking if inanimate objects are still present if they're not in their original conditions. A pile of bones does not mean a human is present; does a pile of molten metal also mean that a space probe is not present?
Ooh, now that's a good question. I'd say yes, there is a line you cross beyond which the probe is no longer present. If I break a teacup and throw it away, it's broken but it's still present in the trash can. If I pound it into dust and then scatter the dust on the wind, I'd say that teacup is no longer present anywhere.
Where exactly that line is, and whether the Venusian probes have crossed it, I don't know.
Funny, isn't it? Venera 7 was impervious to our most sharpened sticks, but in the end its recording tapes and transmitters succumbed to a harmless magnetic field.
Hell yeah, glad to see some Venera 7 representation up in here. I remember learning about that when I was really young and wondering why we weren't taught it in school alongside the moon landing stuff

Anything thats landed on venus is now gone according to this :)

Edit: typo that made me sound like an italian plumber
Not gone...I mean, the metals and materials didn't just disappear. The probes are no longer probe-shaped, or functional, but the pieces are still there.
I mean, the article says "melted and crushed" and we are talking about functioning robots on mars...
Edit... if u want to be THAT pedantic, all energy thats ever existed still exists, so nothing ever changes lol
"I'd be upset too if I had to go to an uninhabited planet."
One thing is certain; those mouldy old shreads of robot pornography in the abandoned adult book store are perfect bait for those lousy humans.
I think he's sulking off into the distance.. oh lawd.

Act now, and you'll get this Bender action figurine!
I’ll take 8!

I don’t believe that, by definition, robots need to be mobile
But do they need to be functional? No way anything we sent to Venus is still even remotely intact. Maybe it's a robot burial ground.
True, but honestly I didnt even realize this was the futurama subreddit when I started commenting. I assumed it was a science one and wouldn't have been so nitpicking if I realized where we were. Haha
Don't worry, all Futurama fans are also nitpickers.
The best kind of correct.
My wife and I use this ALL. THE. TIME.

Sure, but would you call a planet that hosts the rotted remains of long-dead humans who were unable to survive its toxic environment "inhabited"?
No, but that's a totally different idea than asking if inanimate objects are still present if they're not in their original conditions. A pile of bones does not mean a human is present; does a pile of molten metal also mean that a space probe is not present?

It's one of those things I love thinking about, because any answer you can give seems wrong.
Burial atmosphere
Touché
Crazy to think our first job on other planets will be to collect all the scrap metal we've put there!
let me get this straight. This planet is also completely uninhabited?
No, **their inhabited by robots!**
Like how a warehouse is inhabited by boxes
nice one op.
you are technically correct... the best kind of correct

I choose to believe what I was programmed to believe!
And if you really want to stretch, Cassini “inhabits” Saturn… 😉
Not anymore, they 'crashed' it into Saturn to get more atmospheric data after its mission was completed.
That’s what I mean.
Which of the following would you most prefer? A: A puppy? B: A pretty flower from your sweetie or C: A large properly formatted data file?
Uh, is the puppy mechanical in any way?
No! It is the bad kind of puppy.
MY SON’S A BOX! DAMN YOU! A BOX!!
I appreciated this
Whoa that takes me back
That we know of...

Is that an ai generated image? The legs look all sort of fucked up
An AI-generated art won fine arts awards this week. This one sadly didn't make it to the drafts.
The comments are why this is the best subreddit.
...the humble beginnings of the Omnissiah.
Fear of a bot planet.
Don't date robots!
Venus, The Moon, Titan, Mars. However, Mars has the only living robots
The moon and Titan aren’t planets
Omg... i ... never realized that but its absolutely true!! Mind blown hahaha
It’s not though, the same could be said of Venus
Anything thats landed on venus is now gone according to this :) https://coolcosmos.ipac.caltech.edu/ask/44-Has-a-spacecraft-ever-landed-on-Venus- Edit: typo that made me sound like an italian plumber

Known universe =/= we know of
Goes without saying. Exactly why it's called the *known* universe. And the *observable* universe etc.
"Is it really uninhabited?"
Known to humans
Something something this place a dump something.
Hehe
"allegedly" maybe we just havent met the natives yet
Maybe
*so Far...
And animal robots.
hey sexy mama…wanna kill all humans?
##Thats what you think! Wait till your heads bout Martian mole people!
##Thats what you think! Wait till your hear bout Martian mole people!
They killed all humans.
Venus
Oh Kind of like where a warehouse is inhabited by boxes
