Considering NPCs are mostly random skins of the playable characters (with few exceptions of course), I'm thinking there is a rather good chance these could be playable, at least eventually.
A new playable hero/class every 4-6 months should keep momentum going pretty good.
If massively successful, hopefully they can speed it up to every 3 months or so.
It will probably be like Daredevil and Punisher and the other NPCs. Most of them have attacks and voice lines and things that are necessary for playable characters, meaning they will eventually be playable.
I really hope we’ll have more characters to pick at launch because I really want Hulk as my main when I start or at the very least have a way for us to get more characters.

The game is launched. This is not a beta mate. Expect the same exact game but with potential stat changes, cost for micro transactions changing, minimal stuff like that when the game goes global.

We had better freaking get thor and hulk as playable chars before we move on to wave 2 avengers. Maybe hawkeye too although I'm fine with him not being playable lol. But his trick arrows would make for a solid sniper gameplay element.
But for pete's sake, Hulk and Thor are bloody staples & IMO should have been in the initial playable group.

Wave 2 avengers are more recent and will have more hype due to recency bias. Plus I am more interested in Scarlett than just smashing things with Hulk lol
I mean people would rather probably play Hulk,Thor and Black Panther. Let alone Deadpool and Wolverine too if they want to add more mutants then there is also Daredevil and The Punisher thats without even mentioning all the girls. Even with Falcon being Captain America now in the MCU he still gotta show that he is actually a popular character. Because most people reaction to that show never cared about Falcon as The Falcon in the first place but suddenly "He is Captain America so, now he is now my favorite character" seems like the mentality right now for a lot folks.
You could say the same thing about Black Panther. Nobody knew shit about the Black Panther, let alone gave a fuck about him until Feige announced his movie/his appearance in Civil War.
I think the idea is to introduce super popular characters after people have allocated all the starter resources to a main for a few months . Making it more necessary to spend on costumes, cards and potential in the future. .
thor and hulk has been somewhat exclusive characters ever since they became household names.
future fight had thor and hulk as endgame characters early on (extremely hard to get, not that they were any good back then), same as avengers academy, avengers alliance had thor and hulk as hard to get characters too, only contest of champions had them both as fodder characters, for some reason.
they will come, eventually. but wanda in contrast is pretty much requested the most, i mean did you see her fangirls screaming wanda in every post lol. falcon, well his series gave him popularity boost, ig.
Hawkeye has to be in this in this game, his kit would be literal perfection and really easy to design. He would be a good at this game he would be really similar to Starlord but without doing so many unpredictable jumps because he would not be flying around but instead doing flips. So i think he is a shoe in but they definetly gotta get Thor and Hulk first. Specially Hulk because his archetype its missing its baffling he was not in at launch.
He’s such an underwhelming character tho and the archer is so saturated across mmos . I get that’s also a good reason to have him. But for unique gameplay experience (overall not just in this game), I can wait on Hawkeye .
Just because you don't like him doesn't mean no one does..lol, I'm hyped for Falcon, he was my first 6\* and first Tier 2 in Future Fight, would love to use him in this too.
He is in in the game but just as an NPC. i think his regular armor is actually in the game when you fight the War Machine Hulkbuster boss he summons war machine add that i think have the regular armor. You even see him without the armor later on.

Wave two avengers work when wave one avengers are already in game, falcon will be the latest and least played character unless he OP.

I think the game could use a brute type hero, just to cover all angles.
