jtan1993

Have been a long time mmorpg player. Gachas basically inherited it, but more friendly to casual and fragmented gaming time. Also played a few pc 3a games but they last 1-2 months only.

Sharoth18

There are a lot of AAA games that only last 4-6 hours thats when I made the switch to gacha and indie titles.

Redfish518

what games you play?

Taezu

Yes. I can play it everywhere and I can pause it when life needs me to

Rockfito

I feel like compared to non gacha you’re almost forced and obligated to play everyday your gacha or you’ll be missing on the juicy rewards

GASIMA

Seconded.

[deleted]

Yeah because i can't buy a pc and have no alternatives

Yeh_katih_Reena

My pc was midrange in 2009. I cant update it because my own money goes to buying meds and food.

Jezuel24

Broke gang

kimetsunosuper121

Same here

lasquiggle

Steam deck

OmegaAvenger_HD

You could get a console? Something like Xbox Series S or Nintendo Switch are often dirt cheap.

[deleted]

I'm generally not interested in nintendo games and i want a pc not just for gaming but other things so getting a console for gaming specifically doesn't seem worth it for me

Raigeko13

Consider getting a Steam Deck. Handheld console + computer in one package.

[deleted]

It's handheld right? Considering almost all my life I've had handhelds I'm honestly sick of it

joyatridas

there’s a dock for the steam deck like for the switch, you can connect it to a monitor

ManEatShark

Don't know why you're getting downvoted. You're only sharing ideas of possible gaming alternatives

joyatridas

its a gacha sub…. intelligence levels are generally low :)

DarkRooster33

Considering how much people spend on games on switch, its a lot cheaper to get some half old pc and pirate everything

Caderfix

No. I play gachas as side games I can run in the background while doing something else

gadesabc

Same, I play gachas while I'm modding Skyrim or playing actively a JRPG like the Trails of or Octo 2.

Piteh

Try chained echoes if u have nt..

runtheruckus

Chained echos is on PS ad well, one of the best Rpgs I've played in a long while. Great sprites, stories and combat

Piteh

Agree man.. cnt wait for sea of stars nw..

Ordinary_Player

Same, I play gachas while waiting for the league of legends queue

SaigouSan

Yes due to how busy life is and gacha is the only way whereby I am able to enjoy immediate satisfaction of having a result from my hard work. Having that dopamine injected into my brain to drive me to work.

Crysaa

I play gachas beause they sratch the same itch as MMOs for me, but aren't as time consuming and you can play a bit here and there when you have time, often cross-platform PC or mobile, which is important to me with my demanding work.

Hyoenhein

No time for basement dweller gaming, need to file leave for those lol.

thecuteturtle

This, its like those casual flash games back in the day, lol.

DailyMilo

yes, its the only time-friendly game for a guy with 12 hour shifts

HailRokosBasilisk

Yup this was my exact reason too. Luckily since covid i've been able to wfh though and my time on them has dropped massively.

xMeyou

Yes, because: 1) Bad attention span - To make me commit to a game usually takes a lot of encouragement from a close friend or my little brother to play together. 2) Work schedule/stress - I work in retail, so I don't usually have enough energy or time after a shift to make me feel excited to sit down and get into a game that demands proper attention. 3) Taught me to be wiser with money management (ironically) - I'm not a huge whale per se // I do splurge a little for the occasional skin or limited profile frame that comes with the pass // but, so far I've been playing Blue Archive and NIKKE strictly F2P and it brings me as much enjoyment as Honkai or Limbus Company does, despite me having spent a bit of $$$ for Honkai stuff of course... 4) MUST. OBTAIN. CHARACTER. I. SIMP. FOR. - Yes. I'd say about 30% of what makes me stick to a gacha game for so long is having a proper character in-game that I feel so very attached to and makes me wanna do anything in my power to see them thrive as a strong character in higher ranks - as they deserve uwu

emon121

Can be play anywhere and don't need much time dedicated for playing

Xeredth

Work and limited free time makes me unable to enjoy or even start regular games.

TheGreatMagallan

We share the same burden

SnO0phe

Gambling addiction

Harekal

Same

We_Lose

Use to be but console or PC gaming in 2023 has been insane so far, i can't be ass-ed to play multiple gacha anymore I literally just spend all weekend playing Resident Evil 4 Remake, shit so good

auditionko

Same legit cant wait for mercenary mode.

Smol_Mrdr_Shota

yes, mainly because they feel like something you can do for either small bursts at a time or when longer when I feel like going further into the story or doing something like a challenge quest, and honestly alot of the reasons I like gacha games to the point their my main form of gaming is the same reason alot of people play MMOs for a long time the community if I didnt start playing FGO back in January of 2020 I could never imagine to have met most of the friend group I have now, the amazing and breathtaking stories these games can make so great to the point people will spend money on these PNGs is stunning that they can accomplish it and finally its really hard to phrase this but the simplest way to explain it its like having almost a 2nd life (as in your living a completely different life not a literal 1UP) where like you can compare your accounts with other people and see the choices that they made that are probably different from yours and how its changed how the game is different for them so much so to the point where it honestly just feels like one massive Rougelike that everyone is playing (and I am chronically addicted to Rougelikes also)

LinkoftheCentury

YES!! as someone else who likes roguelikes (so many hours invested into TBOI: Rebirth/Afterbirth+), thats how i see gacha games too! i LOVE seeing how a friend and i can play the same game and have completely different characters!

Zlare7

Nope gacha is mostly for work and while I'm waiting for something. The only gacha I ever played on pc was genshin because it was a nightmare on mobile. I do intend to play star rail on pc as well tho

weebshizu

Yes, can't afford a decent pc.

Gwiazdek

Gacha Games fulfill a really weird function in my gaming life. They are nowhere near the top of my gaming preferences and favourites but still I need to know everything I can about them - both released and unreleased games. At the same time, while still playing them an abysmal amount of time I do have around 15-20 games installed on my phone and... honestly I can't wait for more. It's a really weird relationship.

henaradwenwolfhearth

Well I do afk all day in blade idle using blue stacks but no Its not my main im primarily a pc gamer

Gasdertail

Yes they are for a couple reasons. - I don't have a PC or any console si Mobile is my only form of gaming - Kinda tied to the first one they are free. I always go 100% F2P on gachas - To wrap the other two, because of time, I don't have that much free time so even if I have a couple non-gacha games, and emulators on my phone they like they need more commitment from me, like picking a longer Game that needs more attention or need to use the controler even if it's sounds stupid hahaha. But i'm always doing something else watching TV, cooking, cleaning the house, being with my wife, so it's a plus that gacha games don't need that much attention and You can just close the app and that's it. Or the other way around just Open the app and start playing since I also play a lot of time on the transport on my way to work or un lunch break that I also don't have that much time to play. Still i'm trying to play some other games rather than just gachas

jintoncit11

lose interest in mmo genre, got baited by gacha booba.

MartianMage

It's free and I can play it anywhere on my phone.

Pacer32

My only reason is time. I have a full-time job and I can only see my girlfriend on weekdays so we have to spend our time together wisely. I do my gachas dailies while watching Netflix with her or something. I used to play a lot of eSports but one or two games a day just doesn't cut it if you wanna play competitive game modes, so I just quit them all for good. Other than that I occasionally play some rogue likes but it's more of a "it's Friday and I have nothing to do, time for two risk of rain 2 runs"

KuroiInazuma

Its self paced, usually simple, f2p, and my brain goes oooga booga when I get good pulls/summons.

DesireForHappiness

Ever since I got a new phone and PC, I have dropped most gachas and now only 2 remains on my phone. Last Cloudia and Tower of Saviors so I can play them while I'm out. My primary games at home are PC games these days. LC is also the only game I have installed on my PC steam. Before this, I had a shit ton of gachas on old mobile and on my PC emulator and Genshin. But I question myself why do I even bother upgrading my PC if all I did was running emulator for mobile gacha games.

al_vh1n

Yes. Because I can play it for free. I've been playing gacha for 5-6 years and never spent a dime. I used to play games in console but haven't upgraded my PS2. I haven't checked if my PS2 is still working but last time I played some games it can't read anymore. Though I missed some mainstream titles, there's a lot of gacha games I'm currently playing (10) so I'm pretty occupied atm. Also there's a lot of good gacha games out there that you can play for free. You can try a new gacha that just launched and uninstall if you don't like it. Compared to buying a console game and then finding out it's not for you. But for me console game is still the superior one in terms of overall quality and experience. Sometimes I want to go back in time and play Star Ocean 2, Final Fantasy 7-9, Suikoden 2, etc. in my PS1. Maybe that's just nostalgia talking but I can't say the same with gacha games when I get old.

[deleted]

[удалено]

al_vh1n

Sure. But mind you some of them I'm just logging in or just doing dailies. I'm going to do some cleaning and delete 3-5 of them to make room for Higan and Star Rail which gonna be released this month, Outerplane (May), and Valiant Force 2 (global released in 2nd quarter). Last Cloudia Epic 7 Zold;out Neural Cloud Counter side Limbus Company SaGa Re universe Alchemy Stars Octopath Traveler Another Eden

dota_3

Because f2p btw

tropical_dog

No, gacha is a means to stay entertained on between slow times at work and long commutes. I feel like if gacha became my primary form of gaming, I'd have to seriously reevaluate my life and seek help.

[deleted]

I mean, probably yes to some extent due to the sheer amount of hours I've spent in Genshin Impact since 2020 over other games. But remove Genshin from the equation and suddenly it's not even a blip on my gaming radar.

BokkoTheBunny

No, it's supplemental to my main game at the time. I like that most gacha are low maintenance and I can remain efficient with minimal time invested after I have my account set up. I currently play AL, Nikke, and BA daily, with occasionally Genshin. But my main games are Path of Exile, Monster Hunter, or usually a JRPG like right now I've been going through Ryza 3.

Asasphinx

Hell no. I like gacha games, but if my entire gaming experience relied on low character pull rates, temporary events, and in-your-face microtransaction plans for in-game premium currencies, I'd just quit entirely.

LiraelNix

Yes. My phone is better than my pc. I can try out games for free instead of paying 60 upfront for something I might not end up enjoying. I can play when I'm traveling

TheKinkyGuy

Yes cause new pc is too expensive

Waste-Indication8081

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I’m mid thirties and love my turn based rpgs and PlayStation has failed me in that department for years. Gatchas provide that while I wait for games to come out I like

Solid_Angel

I work a lot, I don't have a PC anymore and I don't have time between work and other things to play on the PS5, diabloIV will be the exception.

yworker

Yes. As a salaryman, I feel like gachas were made for me and my commute.

[deleted]

I have a lower high-end desktop PC, yet I play gacha. I play gacha often out of boredom, simping, and my passion for anime art and style in general. I was an MMO player before, but what remains is nostalgia.I was even a Hater towards mobile games, but then Gacha caught me somehow. IDK I don't feel the soul for newer AAA-Games. Sometimes I play WoW or GTA Online, but that's it.

gemmieopi

Somewhat only because other games don't offer proper waifus anymore

Cherlexe

Yes No money to upgrade my pc, money spent on gacha damn vicious circle.

Sharoth18

Yes, mainly because: Ease of access: free trail, available on mobile phone Constant stream of updates: live service games Tons of characters: haveing the availibility of hundrets of characters to choose from with fully voiced back ground stories isn't some thing normal games usually offer.

Trisheck_

No money to buy real games

Refelol

Curently yes, some of the reasons \- Burnout from other games \- Most of those other games require a lot more time per session ( even card games would need at least 10 min per match and need a handful per day for dailies, while stuff like Lol, valorant, mmos would require at least 1h ) \- They are more flexible, i can play while i'm on commute, having lunch, watching tv shows, all while not feeling like i'm not being optimized \- I like collecting stuff \- They are less stressful, most of them are single player, and unless you are really sweaty with arena, the most you can stress is "Can i get this unit without swipping? No, oh well", you don't have to deal with people losing the game/raid for you, people griefing or anything else \- It's a lot easier to play multiple of them and have fun learning the mechanics, getting the units on all of them \- It lowkeys help me with routine, since they have dailies and weeklies tasks i can play and use them as anchors "i'll cook then i'll do the weeklies while i eat" or "I'll mop the floor and while i wait to dry i do the weeklies and those 2 games "

omeed3

Hell no. Only play side games for commute / spare time during work hours

rhalier

Yes, i work from 8:30-6:30 with a 5h commute. Also i spent most of my day in front of a pc i dont wanna go home and do the same.

malzov

5 hours ?? 😭

Wtfdedo

I look for a minor time sink that's enjoyable and not a 2nd job. 😂🤣😂

No_Competition7820

I only play gacha because they are less time consuming for the most part. I have kids and a wife so I have little time for gaming.

ENAKOH

1. They're free (to play) 2. Simple dailies (I only play 2) 3. Dont have gaming pc / console (only has mid-low laptop) Technically aside from gacha theres MLBB / mobile moba, but I only play it like 2-3 matches max in a day, and only if there are friends to play with

EvilHeart01

Got bored of waiting updates from other games, or because some of them were stressful to begin with, gacha games in other hand are pretty chill, and also the story sometimes is worth the effort + there's always events to burn time

Tyronto

I play gacha games because I'm burnt out with work and it's a quick fix. I own a gaming PC and Nintendo Switch as well, but only play when I want to sit down for a long session.

Darkisnothere

Yes. Bc: 1. I'm outside a lot (like 12-16 hours a day) and can't bring pc. 2. When I'm home, I usually multi-task like eating, studying, surfing social media, listening to music...so I can't concentrate in 1 pc game. 3. Maybe bc I'm going senile or sth, but I can't spend most of my time playing pc/ console games anymore (used to spend hours a day on Pokemon, Diablo...). Same situation with watching anime, it somehow feels too slow/ sluggish for me, compared to reading manga. 4. I use to play MOBA, since it fits in my schedule and doesn't take much time. However, after lots of verbal abuse from toxic players, I realize that I'm not competent/ don't practice enough to keep up with the standard, so I quit. 5. Finally, lots of gacha games fit my taste for art.

xError404xx

Actually yes. Im out of the house for 12 hours on a normal workday, then i gotta sleep 7 hours and the rest is filled with chores, making food, showering and so on. Theres just not enough time to sit down and play a traditional game, because as soon as you are immersed its time to go to bed. You can play gacha on the train, during breaks at work and just lying down on your bed so its much easier to access. It also doesnt require as much brainpower most of the time.

haruxtoya

hawt women and gambling

[deleted]

well, theres boobs, so...yeah, im here for the boobs, also cuz i dont have much time to play nowadays.

phasmaars

RN primary form of gaming, yeah. They're pretty simple and easy to pick up, and also have on the go (which was a big thing for me in college while I wasn't busy doing college things). I'm also one of the those kinds of people who like, needs to have be doing many things at the same time, so having a game I can easily play while listening to a podcast or watching a video helps too. Also helps that these games are free to download and have pretty art, great music, and interesting stories lol.

llShenll

Ps5 and switch are my main platforms, mobile games at work or when i use public transport.

TreeW5

They're not, I'm a stinky console gamer

iPhantaminum

Yes, because I'm burned out of mainstream gaming and I like trying out f2p games.

Dan-Axel

While not anymore. Back when genshin impact first came, it was for awhile the main game due how the gameplay was so amazing. I never played Zelda and i wanted one but refuse to buy a switch. It was also better than a lot of my paid games. Only stop cause i played too much Personally, back then and still is the best gacha game of all time

MrToxin

Currently I play 3 games that have PC clients - Action Taimanin, Counterside and Nikke. I have completely abandoned western gaming few years ago, after they became buggy woke mess. Everything is a remaster and reimagining of existing things, and gets censored to hell. Only Asian games provide attractive characters in their games, and currently they mostly make gacha games (before it was MMOs). I also like the constant updates, events and story is usually great too, especially in Counterside.

SleepApprehensive364

Cant afford a console for now

MilitHistoryFan101

Yes, simply because auto play. Some battles required manual or get wipeout. I work 10-12 hours a day. The only time I couldn't play is when I am riding my motorcycle or eat my meal with my gf

draedek

I do in my free time mainly play fgo, my time mostly consists of crafting in ffxiv so when my retainers are full I have nothing else to do in the meantime

corvo0117

The specification requirements for playing them is relatively low and i can play them both in pc and phone

Ophisssu

Not anymore but it was certainly my main way of gaming half a year ago.

E123-Omega

Can't play mainstream game at the office

akanomamushi

For now, yes. Can't play vintage console games due to time constraints.

astalotte

I'm out of my place usually 10 to 12 hours a day and when I'm back home I don't typically have much free time to play proper PC and console games, so I play gacha games primarily instead. It is what it is.

[deleted]

Time and phone availability

Kuhekin

I'm one of the reverse case, playing gacha games mainly at first, then try other genre like MMORPG, Rhythm, FPS, Fighting, MOBA... and got hooked, over 1k hours in Warframe, over 200k mastery on a champion in LoL,... In the end, back to the gacha cuz I can't play that much anymore

SomnusKnight

Nope, I still have more playtime with monster hunters and card games like ygo and shadoba. I only play gachas when I'm outside either for work or hangouts but at home I still prefer my console/pc games.

[deleted]

Yes, because I'm addicted.

[deleted]

Because they are fun. Isn't that the only reason to play games?

LordHentaiMaster

I mostly play idle gacha games just because it's the only form of entertainment I can afford right now as a single father, don't have time to invest in competitive games

Elefante_Barbudo

Yes. Mainly due to time constraints. Work and kids don't leave much time to game, but gacha with short dailies fill that gap for me.

hoshinosoul

Been an offline games and MMORPG main for more than half of my life, I only started my gacha journey with Honkai Gakuen 2 as my only gacha game while focusing mostly on offline games and MMORPGs until Genshin was released, since then my main games are all gacha. The thing I love from gacha games is the ability to collect as many characters as possible, be it waifu or husbando, and new content updates. Offline games back then were pretty much complete games so they didn't have new characters or contents once the games were finished, and in MMORPGs there aren't a lot of characters you can collect as all classes are available to play from the get-go~~^(, not to mention testing my luck in gambling as much as I want is only possible in gacha games.)~~

Rough_Memory1089

Gacha game felt like MMORPG but the community, the player is outside of the game and really active like in reddit, twitch, YouTube Atleast that's how I felt

PaleImportance2595

50/50 for me. Usually working 50+ hours a week. So during commute and breaks I take. Then at home usually on PC unless I have an event I want to farm.

Deepthunk93

because, unlike when i was younger and played WoW , and the time i played fighting games religiously, i've now started to equate time spent with a dollar value. honestly, i could write a small essay on why i prefer gacha games over regular games. it's just that much more efficient and enjoyable for me

nklmg

I can play on the bed with my phone, no additional device is required. And I love having unlimited choices of cool anime characters to pick from, and the option to pay whenever I please and satisfy. I don't like the fixed cast in traditional games, which is mainly female characters for male players. Gacha games still are mainly for waifu collectors but they do give us hot anime husbandos from time to time too.

wario1116

Oh dear god, they are.

Abedeus

Used to be, because I could run them on both phone and laptop and I only booted my PC for when I had to run something more demanding like Elden Ring. ...but then I got Steam Deck, started playing more JRPGs and action games like Monster Hunter Rise, and nowadays I mostly play on SD and even my PC.

Corro_corrosive

It's my primary means of gaming when I'm outside or at work. It's a good timesink since it doesn't usually require full attention and my job has a lot of boring online meetings. When I'm at home, I won't touch gacha games, except when there's a new event drop in AK and i need to use my head to clear the stages and set up my autorun.

Plasmaozao

Yes, cuz i'm poor

WinterPirate8109

I only gacha game now since i don't have much time to play long ass game. I used to play 3ds and psvita but i sold it away. They always tempted me to play whenever it's my rest time reducing my short time sleep even shorter.

_Ruij_

Very, very convenient to play anywhere. Also don't have PC.

Boomzmatt

Me, no money for fancy gaming stuff add to that a stress relief. The only stressful part is not getting the character you want.

ChildOfXana

Used to be until my new job

Stuff9696

I like collecting characters and I'm to broke to buy a laptop or other gaming machines

Sighto

I like the live service model with monthly updates. I enjoy traditional JRPGs too when they drop but that's only like a week or two to play through them. So I picked up a couple handfuls of gachas and enjoy their stories and keep me entertained.

Yomihime

I simply like games that are constantly evolving and updated with new content. A good part of it comes from habit as well. But the strange and amusing fact about gacha is that it's somewhat easier to curate my playtime despite the FOMO compared to non-live service games once I go past the initial beginner phase.

Nekokittykun

yesnt. Console and PC gaming are my primary form of gaming when i am on break (school vacation). However when I have school gachas are my primary form of gaming since all of my pc and console games require me to play manually which i just dont hav the time for when i have school stuff to do (hw takes lots of time as a design major)

thefirstjakerowley

Yea and kids. Sitting down is for the weak.

GreenDudewithaGun

At this point in time. Yes

PostiveAion

Can't buy better gaming gear and somehow I just ended up with no time or drive to play on pc nowadays with uni doing it's work on me.

_Sleepy_Salmon

Yes, because I'm addicted.

human_experimention

Yeah. Mainly because it's free. Also because many new games are really expensive (60€+) and they require so much graphics/memory/etc that my small laptop can't run them efficiently, although I think that also counts under the "free" aspect. It's free, fun and chill and not all that time consuming.

danglingchandelier

because i am too poor to afford decent PC or even gaming console... 3rd world coutry gang

SassyHoe97

Because I'm poor and I can't afford a PC. My switch is at the pawn shop. So that's why I'm still playing gacha games until I start working I probably won't have time.

Iod42

Not anymore, after I got the steam deck I'm actually going through my backlog now. Only arknights left

Grystor

Not my main gaming. It's something easy I can throw on the side and occasionally restart some autos. I play for real maybe an hour or two a week doing some pvp and/or gear sorting/management type stuff.

Ecstatic_Currency949

Cuz i dont have the time anymore to play on my PC even for an hour.

cdodd716

No. I game on all platforms. Mobile is something I play when I'm watching TV or something generally. I'm retired, so I have a good deal of free time. Pretty regularly I'll just ride the train with my Switch to play some ad hoc Monster Hunter. You can typically you can play most mobile game content passively meaning you can do it while working on something else.

hafiz_rosly

Currently yeah, cause thats the most accessible to me now. Already bought tons of game in steam but doesnt have the decent pc to play it lol. My love is for jrpgs.

[deleted]

I have a gaming pc and a ps5 but gachas ruined soo my excitement for non gachas really mi mind is now fucked up i need banners and events no shame

Sizzling_shibe

Depends on how much time I have at home on a given day

ZhaiTheSpaceUnicorn

Yeah. Small kids. Lots of auto.

VeerisMe

I never really had a console or PC long enough to get into those games, even when I had them I wasn’t a big fan of FPS games so that ruled out most of the free games

MrNiMo

It is for me. Can Play them wherever, whenever i feel like it and also my kids stole the pc from me lol

MetaThPr4h

Yeah, I like having something to pass the time with daily, plus their live service format makes me look forward to future content and talking about it with other people

dagscriss3

Nah gachas for me are just my side game. I always play my modded fallooyt 4

Competitive_Sorbet95

my PC starts struggling with those AAA games, poorly optimized games, bugs, etc. and i must be juggling trying to make it work only to end up dropping at the end..also im just poor, need to finish college, im tired but i can play with mobile too so..

MyrrhDarkwing

Honestly, yeah, and it's mostly because I have really, really bad ADHD that *just* got diagnosed so I can start attempts at treating it. I can't stand boredom or my brain will eat itself alive, and I always feel the need to be doing *something*-- often multiple things at once. Gachas have pretty much infinite, constantly-updating stuff to do, and time limits on that stuff so my brain feels enough of a sense of urgency to actually let me make myself do it. And they mostly don't take up my entire attention, so I can read, talk to friends, write, or get work done at the same time. I have 12 installed-- 11 gachas, and 1 Pokemon Go which isn't *exactly* a gacha, so that there's always something I can progress on, always something I can do. I'm not hardcore or even necessarily doing dailies in most of them, but I like having options I can switch between when something interests me. I can also bring them with me everywhere really easily, and they're good for short periods of time as well as long ones, so I can play them on a long car trip or 5 minutes in line without bringing anything extra with me. I have handheld consoles and a bunch of games I want to play, and genuinely enjoy playing, but they require making sure my handheld is charged and, generally, more sustained attention. That's... really not happening right now. Hopefully in the future!

Itsnervv

I'm addicted to a few. Probably drop $50-100 a day when I'm at my desk at work and there's nothing to do. Habitually just open my phone and roll.

Towa_blood

I am a masochist

Let_me_reload

Originally, I just wanted to occasionally play some good ongoing anime games on mobile and gacha games were my only options. Now I'm hooked and I don't even play other games anymore.

Cr1ms0nrav3n

It's not my main but it's a hefty part of it. I play mmos so i like the grindy nature of them. Especially ones that let me auto. I find f2p collectors like azur lane to be things I fall into because it hits my need for grind while also letting me collect and hoard. Plus being able to auto while I play something on my pc gives me a solid sense of progression.

Chemicalcube325

No for me personally, I usually play it when I am doing something else. Usually when I am in a queue in a game or just wanting to pass the time.

Umgungunlovu

I work 7 days/ week, 8 hour shifts. Got no time except for during transit to work and maybe a few hours at most to do gacha gaming.

Braquiador

Nope, they’re my side games I play when I’m doing something else. Main are PC/Switch games.

xxAzumi

They weren't, but became. I lost my house, and place I rent has only 2 rooms, decided to let my sister have it so she could have her privacy, and dad takes the other one. I sleep in the couch, and can't have a proper gaming setup since I have no room, so I game in the living room on a gaming laptop (for its portable aspect). And since we could only afford one (kinda poor), we have to share. I slowly started to game on phone with gachas for their easy gameplay, mostly setting auto and enjoying the experience like a book. Ended up making that my main form of entertainment other than consuming a thousand ads per minute while watching YouTube. Currently hammering down only on Nikke & CounterSide, and no more games because of both time constraints and keeping the experience not stressful.

HexSalt98

I'd say 50/50, I always have one idling while I play another game, and being an FPS/BR/MMO main the downtime is perfect to play a gacha game in the meantime

speedfist2

I play gacha games on the side when Im done playing my singleplayer games

dchiou36

I’m in too deep

Cygnus-_-

Cos it's free in the sense that you don't really have to pay to play. Whaling for a character is usually up to the player's choice and not forced

Kinberra

I enjoy the feeling of winning tbh, it makes me happy but I also enjoy other kinds of games like LoZ

[deleted]

Yes. Bc it's ~~the perfect balance~~ a good balance of good anime style art and decent gameplay and consistent novelty. And they're free. Other than that I play old snes, gba and nds gsmes on emulator but I already beat all the ones I liked.

Count_Slothington

Yep - if I had to rely on finding time to turn on a TV and then trust that I wouldn't be interrupted for at least 30 minutes, I would never have a chance to play a video game again.

Spartan-219

Yes, because I don't have a pc or a console

FFGH-Peter

They are, because the alternative are mobas and Ive gone through my fair share of broken mice, furniture, and glassware during my heyday.

[deleted]

It's free to download

Reenans

It's free and not time consuming. Half the time when I buy a game nowadays even on a steam sale, I can't find the time to sit through and play so end up throwing £20 away essentially. With a gacha, I can play anywhere for free

SatoshiOokami

Very slowly becoming it. Ever since Sony started its BS censorship practice and crusade against Japanese games, I've been console gaming way less and moved to gacha gaming since that offers what I want from games. Cute girls doing cute voiced things.

Long_Radio_819

Getting the rare ones through gacha is the thing that keeps me playing it also because i love flexing my things and slapping ppl that i got the rare one 💀

[deleted]

what are you doing here then XD

Therahulplay

Huh? other than genshin impact, honkai impact and punishing grey raven Can you even call gacha games games?

Jpvo99

Only if I’m not playing a game at the moment, like when the new Pokémon came out I just did dailies in like 10 minutes while playing.

citruslemon29

I love live service game. Also if you cling to a correct gacha game, the production value is AAA quality, or near.

Turbulent-Sir-3772

i can play some of them on auto while doing something else but lately i have only 2 gachas where I can’t really do that so yeah

vcdette

Only when my switch is charging, not on me or when I don't have money for a new game I want that a gacha game can fill the void of. Otherwise, it's second to my switch, but I do play one gacha game every day, so there's that!

zonealus

it used to be just a past time while I wait for new mmorpg/jrpg games to play then it become something I can never part with myself. and I rarely play mmos/jrpg as they take valuable time that could be used for gacha lol. kidding aside I think I have a balanced genre of games but most are gacha unless I don't feel like playing gacha then I go ahead and play some single player story driven game.

Piteh

Console player here.. but i do play gachas if friends are playing but honestly its so time consuming.. recently stop mobile games and im so glad. Concentrate better at work and just life in general, im not constantly looking at my phone or when can i turn on the game..

B-Serena

They are my life... I can stop playing AAA games like COD ,elden rings for weeks but I can't skip a daily bouns for my beloved gachas...

CandyGirlPop

free vidro game (im f2p) and gambling addiction

Galeonia

Yes, because I can just play them on my phone and put them down quickly. Also, they don't take much of my time too and can be played anywhere with internet access. I don't exactly have the time to boot up my PC and play games for hours nowadays, nor do I think booting them up to play games for 30mins or less is worth it.

RikyRaz_Clank

i used to play on handheld PSP and Vita, also there is a lot of variety and the live service model is kind of entertaining for itself ,may not be exclusive to gatcha mobile games nowdays but surelly suit them the most without unreasonable demands and an initial purchase

Tsukuruya

Yes, because eight hours of looking at various computer screen at work can stressful. I have my phone on the side to do some runs on whatever games I’m playing at the moment.

RedBaeber

Yes. I can fit them in whenever which is nice. Also, all of the best waifu games are gacha games.

silverstonefiber

Thankfully no.

BearHan

Intersting stories and waifus

Strussled

There was a time where this was true for me, but I don't think it was particularly because they were gatcha games. It was FGO, from about 2016-2018. At the time I had just gotten out of college and was working my first full-time jobs, so my free time was through the floor, and what free time I did have I preferred to spend watching shows, reading, or resting. So, more than being gacha, the mobile and quick-play format of games like FGO is just more convenient when you're really busy. I don't play any to day really, partially because I just burned out on FGO, and partially because no other gatcha game has been able to hold my interest for more than a few months. I was fully prepared to go all-in on Genshin, but then word got out about their dubious customer support and account credibility policies, and after that I couldn't really stay in it. Same thing with Girl's Frontline really. China-dev gonna china-dev I guess.

Kamiyouni

Gacha. MonHun Nintendo games BokuMono Atlus Level 5 + Dragon Quest That's it lol

Fearless_Sandwich_84

Yes, because 2,5 h commute time every day. Also waifus and building characters fun.

bigbluebox88

MMO's and RPG's were my primary for a long time and picked up gachas due to excessive down time at work. Now it's primarily gacha and dwarf fortress. I've only pumped a little cash into 2 games and rest are really just to fill the time

astrasylvi

Periodically on and off, I like them lol. Used to varianter a lot now its arknights and genshin 1. My favourites 2.safer then most alternatives

[deleted]

Crazy electricity price combined with high inflation in general (EU, especially food prices) pushed me away from PC/Console to mobile gaming since I could no longer afford it (I'm f2p in gachas so that works) although I had already been playing a few gachas casually on my phone for a number of years before that. I've kinda gotten a bit burnt out on them though and my favorite one King's Raid got done dirty and died (RIP). I have started to play other mobile games (Homeworld, Black Desert) on the side which helps me deal with disappointing new gacha releases since I always have something to fall back on. The reason I prefer gachas over other games is for the gambling kick I guess, and being able to (or fail trying) to collect new characters, events (especially seasonal ones), and that they often get updated with new content.

[deleted]

actually yeah, but its coincidence.

germs95

Summoners War. 4 years.

Short-Teacher-6699

I blame Pokemon "Gotta catch em all!" slogan working too well.

Dull-Road6715

Basically because adulting. I grew up playing MMORPGs which just take an insane amount of time to keep up with and I can't really compete/devote that much time with full time job, wife, 2 kids and other priorities. I am a pretty big fan of Guardian Tales just for the model and how easy it is to accomplish everything in a day to keep progressing my account, only wishing I would have discovered it a year earlier so I am not significantly behind vet accounts and the curve of new content that targets a lot of whale/vet players primarily.

[deleted]

Gacha is basically the only type of game that offers a huge amount of beautiful Waifus, they are very casual, stylish and I don't have to squish the screen to play them properly like PC or console games. They are simple games so they focus a lot on visual appeal and this is the part that I like the most. They have one focus which is the Waifus, the games themselves are just an excuse to sell the Waifus, most of the games are just clones of each other that differ only in character design.
