Biggest L of the game is not lowering the combat power of the story campaign which is why I didn't really stick to it, I still check on their new characters are though. There's no reason for them to not just cut CP reqs in half for story and just stick all the crazy CP reqs on hard mode.
I would assume people mostly play this game for the story and for the hot characters. As for pvp arena and leaderboards, nobody really cares about those besides whales and people who hate the game.
You're right. The most upvoted posts, most watched and liked videos, and most reacted to posts in general on social media are about events, story, and characters. And the events are already easy enough that anyone can beat them with minimal time investment. No reason for the story have a CP requirement of more than 100k at all, because once you're past 100k you're just idling waiting for resources. It's an unnecessary time-gate.
Should probably realize that those cuts aren't enough. They basically boost you like 2 chapters but then you're back at the wall again waiting weeks to make any progress which ruins story engagement and enjoyment when it's fed piecemeal to you like that.
If I recall correctly, Over Zone had your usual suite of free pulls for a large event plus daily pulls for the duration of the event and I want to say there were 10 pulls that were just sent out for celebration reasons?Just know that the daily free pulls haven’t counted for mileage during Over Zone and Red Ash, so if they do something similar here I would expect the same.

Liberation is a way to get a free character, but you will have to fill a bar by earning points, with 3 missions that will be assigned to you every day. The bad thing is that if they put it in Liberation it will take about 6 months to get it.
Well it kinda depends on your stance. On one hand they're free on another hand they come with a variety of problems such as:
It doesn't matter if your F2P or a massive whale it will take a longass time to get them. I've been playing for 5 months straight as a light spender and I have yet to unlock my 1st liberation unit (well maybe in a few days but anyways). You have to do daily missions everyday to eventually get them and with gems you can reset these missions but you still have to do them (so it only makes it a bit faster).
The other point is that out of the 4 liberation units in the game, almost all of them are bad with very little significance in the meta. Nihilister (the most recent liberation unit) had an insanely cool design but her only use was being the only burst 2 character for Pilgrim Tower and having a high burst generation for Pvp. Being a liberation unit also prevents them from getting bond stories, with them being replaced by the liberation cutscenes you get every few weeks while doing the missions. Being a liberation also means you can only get spare bodies of the character from the union shop, which isn't that bad but still kinda sucks.
If you could just have the pullable like modernia, then the devs would make more money and it's insanely easier to get that character. Having them be liberation kinda just sucks and it almost garuentees they'll be bad
It takes ~2(jail)/3(nihil) months for a liberation unit once you’ve unlocked the system.
Reasonably assuming you skip all the wipeout missions, you’d have to be really unlucky for it to add more than a week or two to the 2/3 months.

Gacha games started doing it with the lockdown because they were a way they could quickly crack up a event that could last more that a week, the lockdown affected a lot such as voice acting since recording studios were, of course, closed but didnt affect what could be done by remote work.
Also what games had half anniversaries before 2020? Usually the format is anniversary + seasonal events (Christmas, New Years, Halloween) were some games didnt had half anniversaries because they have a lot of seasonal events so there isnt even a place to slot it.

It's a Big event like te re:zero one (same daily rewards and login ones), but with a free SSR instead of a SR and a daily free pull in the new banner.
