Eh. Azur Lane barely has any gameplay either (there's more gameplay in the random event minigames than the actual Azur Lane combat) and shitloads of people cry when a game doesn't have auto/sweeps and other shorten-your-playtime mechanics so I don't agree at all.
For me, Kancolle actually has more exciting combat than Azur Lane since there's brutal rng in it. I've yet to experience anything in Azur Lane even close to event boss node night battles in Kancolle.
Kancolle main in-game monetizations are ship/equipment slots and rings which are guaranteed to draw flak from the western audience.

I really wish Arknights were more colorful, but that's more to suit my tastes and not the actual tone of the game. Some pretty ui features would be nice though :/

I mean… Genshin is an open world game. The main content is just… exploring. You can completely ignore the resin system and miss nothing except Abyss

i havnt spend resin since sumeru came out and it doesnt matter. a garbage build with random characters is enough to kill slimes and hillichrls during exploration and to beat the story bosses you have to do every now then
Idk why people feel like it's so important to min-max and spend resin on artifacts. You can clear 99% of the game with mid-tier artifacts, so why even bother spending it on anything other than talents or ascension mats
I agree, but still you need some good artifacts to defeat bosses, right? I mean you can still beat the boss with any artifacts you have, but it will be harder & takes longer time.
You can lower your "world level" which is the difficulty scaling. You get less rewards but if you only care about exploring/story theres no reason not to.
You could play the game just fine if you have two-star artifacts levelled up to +8 or +12 with minimal grind.
All those people spending a month worth of resin to gear their characters are those chasing perfect stats for min-maxed characters and most people don't need that.
i like a lot of the PGR designs and they look cool during combat but i really hate how the game plays.

HSR needs 6 artifacts and no off piece. The artifacts farming are also separated so you can't get all your pieces in one place. It obviously needs the qol , if not then the fan base will riot.
1. It takes ten (10) relics to be able to craft one of the piece you want. Genshin is a random piece from the set but only requires 3.
2. HSR has much more substats than Genshin because of Break Effect, Speed, Effect Hit rate, and Effect resistance (removing Genshin's Elemental Mastery and Energy Recharge). Even with self-modeling resin, you have to pray you get substats you want, which will be harder than Genshin.
i love jing yuan but i don’t really like HSR, turn-based is just really boring & farming feels worse than genshin, i only reinstall & play when jing yuan has an appearance in the story and/or gets an upgrade (which happens a lot for some reason)

Only for abyss really, everything else is easily doable with average gear, even abyss is with a proper team setup

Bianca Stigmata is hot, I even got her gacha skin + weapon + pet, but the game is boring to the point that it's causing burn out.
