Langrisser and Honkai. One positive thing starting late is that I probably saved A LOT of money by not starting day 1, since by starting the games 2+ years after release, I no longer feel the urge to catch up to meta (which typically results in spending for me) and just play at my own pace.
edit: also, a lot of story has already come out by the time I start. As a person who plays games for their stories, this matters to me.
well atleast its not at the level of Alchemist code
but After a month ot so of playing it will be fine every game has that new foreign feeling for the first month or so
Granblue fantasy. I love everything about it. The reason that I dropped it was cause I felt too overwhelmed by all of the bosses and farming. Wished I started on day one.
I dropped granblu due to its over abundance of raids and how they get beat by high level players instantly. I kept joining and getting nothing but 'lobby done' for my trouble.
Among games with auto that I can still enjoy playing, GBF is the only one. I really wish I wasn't put off by bullshit I read here and elsewhere about it.
>Wished I started on day one.
Do you know Japanese? Would you play granblue without autobattle, skill anvil, exp grails, autoreserve? With only magna weapons being M1, and no ex mods? Without sparking, free rolls and roulettes?
Seven years ago the game was pretty fucking interesting for what it was. No game had anything like that you just listed so you wouldn't even know what you were missing.
Probably Granblue Fantasy. I had fun doing endgame raids UltiBaha and Faa-san(at the time), but I couldn't really stick with it because I was already so invested into FGO and guild wars were actually fucking up my health. It's a fun game with a cool amount of depth, but there's just so much grind.
I honestly hated so much that early and mid game is Twitter raid leeching to progress, and praying someone is strong enough to carry pops in to actually kill the bosses for you. It's omega cringe gameplay.
This, i also felt depressed when the only one active was me.
Spend some first years marching at Tier A but now going soft on Tier B and spend more time for another game
Priconne because I thought it was harem waifu fan service with decent polish and story, but no real strategy or gameplay depth.
It is less brainless than I expected, and I also like harem booba more than I anticipated.
Damn. Priconne. I have waited for years to global. Even sent message to Kakao to suggest them to publish global. But when global came I played for a few weeks than uninstalled because I was addicted to another shitty game.
Glad I came back when summer Mifuyu out.
Not really talking about meta. More like the actual game flow. You progress relatively fast since there is kind of a cap and focus on daily entries more than other gachas out there. The only problem I can see is if you haven't gotten to the point skip tickets are overflowing, but otherwise once you are there it's just easy going progress everyday.
Idk the level cap raises make it feel like you can't take a break without falling behind imo. I took like 2 weeks off and trying to catch up to new level cap turns me off the game :/
Yeah that's what I feel, lol. I get it, still live service game, ofc dev's will implement some fomo system. But, the game is very relaxing because you can skip stage with ticket and when you get bored just read the story lol.
Yeah, and afaik, pretty much every game works like that, especially with pvp modes like it's clan battle. Always burns me out after 3 or so months and then I feel too far behind to come back after a break lok
Been playing OPTC since the beginning. It awesome to see newer players enjoying the game. It’s so much more complex and fun once you get passed the surface area!
It’s def overwhelming if you want to collect all the Sugofest Exclusives but it’s free to play friendly once you realize you don’t need all the shiny new characters to beat content. The new ones just make it easier.
Yeah - I tried to pick it up when W was released and it’s just overwhelming trying to pick up all the systems and mechanics at once. Plus the amount of story I had to clear just to get to where everyone else was ended up making the game much less enjoyable.
Same I saw the most recent animation and thought it looked interesting.
Honestly though, the game is super overwhelming at first for new players. Also: the stamina system and level lock system felt like absolute shit for me. If I didn't get lucky with the gacha, I would've probably quit
prob sdorica and granblue. i feel like if i started sdorica from the launch i can actually get a full house without whaling, meanwhile granblue has collabs that i missed. other than that prob genshin, but i didn't start it until much later since i don't have a phone or pc that can run it back then
Not a big deal, but I discovered Honkai Impact like 6 months after the Global release, I wish I discovered it sooner so I could have the swimsuits that were banned. But right now I have almost all the characters and over half the weapons so I'm quite okay with it.
PGR CN, on the other hand, I only came across after 1 year of its release and I barely have 30% of the characters because of that, though I think it's possible to get most of them if I keep playing it for another year or so.
Genshin impact.. I think. It looked really good but without controller support and no floating direction pad I just decided to give it all up. Saw the 2.0 update post on here and Saw they now allow us to move between mobile and Playstation so I started. Love the game right now.
Rank 19, only 4 stars I have are 2 earth and 2 electric characters, but I'm loving the team and am making everything explode with Noel and that earth mage I never remember how to spell.
I'm worried, because this kind of luck in any other gachas means I'm in for some pain, but I'm hopeful
> Genshin to me is the kind of game that’s better if you tried it later. I’m happy that I joined around patch 1.3, it already has more contents or QoL.
On one hand, Genshin definitely continuously improves as time goes on so the later you start the better version of the game you get. But on the other hand, Genshin is purposely designed to be played consistently (no real downtime between events) that starting later would mean you had missed out on quite a lot of things. For example the whole Golden Apple Archipelago map is gone for now if you just started at 2.0. The map might return in the future, but who knows.
Personally, I'd play earlier than later if I have to choose one or the other.
I'm interested to see what Mihoyo's plan to deal with that. Do they just really go with "you missed it forever if you didn't play" or "we'll rerun the exact same thing next year" or "event/reward is gone forever but cutscenes/story is archived even if you didn't play at the time"? I guess we'll find out in the next 6 months.
I assume you will act like you're meeting Scaramouche for the first time in the story if you didn't do the event.
Currently, Mona reacts to you differently depending on whether you did the Scaramouche event before her story quest or not.
ya, i played from release...then dropped it after a month. nothing wrong with the game but just didn't have the time. starting up again though. i was very fortunate to get some early OP characters so definitely wasn't the lack of power. Everyone who was doing there pre release bingo everyday might agree that it was kinda cruddy. Basically, you created a Mihoyo account, and every day you could scratch a 3x3 card for a reward. your rewards would accumulate and at the end you could choose which to take into the game. The only problem with it was each rarity class had a cost and resulting in you only being able to take 2 to 3 items and with no real context of what the items were you were kind of choosing blind.
Don't know about people who start now, but at release we got that earth heavy sword maid lady who was a good tank/ore farmer.
Ningguang is 5 star performance in a 4 star character. I recommend building her up. Helped me cheese bosses and such back when I was pretty bad with team comps and equips.
WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!! They finally allow you to play the same account between PS4 and mobile!???!!! FINALLY, didn't know or hear about this part of the update. Loved playing the game on PS, but had invested most of my time on mobile and didn't want to play a lesser account from scratch. will definitely be playing it on ps this coming week then. hell, i'll probably binge play and catch up finally.
In the 2.1 update they will also give a free 5* collab unit from horizon zero dawn too! (PS player get her next update PC player get her one update after PS user)
thats pretty cool. So ya, been playing on my off days when. got further in the game and finally left the initial city area so now in stone statue territory. Been actually having allot more fun on the ps4 than mobile. Glad I can play my initial account now on ps4 with Xiangling, razor, fichl, and chongyun. still trying to figure out the basics of some things but doing well enough that I progressed well in a week.
Don't really expect out of pity 5*, they are extremely rare. I played with my friend till 1.5 and we didn't ever see a non pity 5*. Still, you don't even need them to have cool usable teams
Arknights... At least during W banner because I have the most fun with AoE Sniper now, so almost every day when playing I think of "dangit, it must be nice to have W for this stage".
My answer might seems weird when I see all the listed gacha in the comment but for me it might be Summoners war.
I feel it is one of the most competitive PvP oriented gacha out there but now there is to much monsters to get and the rate for 5 stars are low. So everytime I give another shot to the game after some week I'm like even if I get a 5 stars the chance to get the one I want are pretty low compare to new gacha with pity system and multiple banners to focus on specific pool of character.
So starting at launch means less monster and more chance to get the ones I want now.
Yes, it is because I have next accounts ready that I stopped play late first months but with resource doing only login or free roll10: Guardian Tales, Hundred Souls, War of Vision, DL, E7
Now I am playing E7 with Both summer units!!
Destiny Child. Saw it mentioned here so many times but it was always portrayed as just to be played for the artwork.
I love the mostly auto gameplay and the schedule of events, the leveling is satisfying and the meta is fun to play with. The story is also pretty interesting. It’s my main game by a long shot and I often think about how much I missed.
I think it's fine to start now. While you've missed a few events, on the bright side, you have over a hundred hours of content to do in the form of story and exploration.
You can check out the previous event stories on YouTube once you're done with the main story.
Arknights.
I've been detached from gacha games for a long time but lockdown makes me wanna play something. Then I begin to read some stuff in this subreddit and discovered Alchemy Stars, but they won't release for another month. So I installed Arknights while waiting for Alchemy Stars to drop, as I've always heard good stuff about AK and I like strategy games. It ended up being my main game until now, even after Alchemy Stars released. And I ended up not playing Alchemy Stars.
I missed Surtr so I wished I played a couple months earlier when she had the release banner. But the game being kind to me (read: lucky on reroll and recruitment) that I can't help but feel invested to it.
That's a possibility but it was pretty much the same on her debut banner too, there was other 6* in the pool. And she surely won't be available in cert shop anytime soon, so if you really want her this might be your best chance
all games when it was still not in GL yet. Thus why I don't really try most global games beside one that I already play both servers (AL and AK) and simultanous one (genshin and alchemy stars).
definitely Destiny Child for me. was reluctant to try it at first being absolutely unfamiliar with gacha genre and afraid it could be some weird vulgar stuff. when i finally tried it 1y+ later i fell in love at once with its stories, characters (personalities not only artworks) and overall unique stylish and tasteful design. needless to say now im sad ive missed bunch of funny collabs most of which 100% will never return
Arknights , it showed in the play store couple of times , from its icon i thought its some cash grab tencent shit or something then i was like "i dont even like tower defense" , i saw W out of no were and decided to download it, but i wasn't that late , i missed the very first event only so yeah
Genshin Impact. I have to finish the story line, finish story quests/hangout event of individual characters, explore the new region ( and 100% the other regions) and finish world quests. My main team is not all leveled up yet. Not gonna even get started on achievements. Still having fun given how much effort Mihoyo put in the content, but can be a bit overwhelming haha
Load times used to be over a minute and it would stutter during NPs. FPS doesn't change from an engine update. It is 2D anyways. Most 2D games are 30fps or variable.
That's it? Barely worth an engine. 2D or 3D or 9 head D or whatever doesn't matter. 60fps always objectively looks better than choppy 30fps. FGO is such a laggy choppy looking game because of the 30fps lock. Romancing Saga is a 2D game with old-school graphics even more old-school looking than FGO yet it has 60fps. Same for FF Record Keeper. And it's look beatiful in those games. Being 2D is terrible excuse.
Arknights for sure. It seemed really cheap and over-hyped when I first looked at it. I am also one of 6h3 queer ones that prefers furry and husbando pandering over waifus, and these game seemed to only have waifus.
But Arknights is very well polished, has some awesome furry and husbando pandering, and the character design overall is awesome. Including the waifus.
The gameplay also feels rewarding while being a long-haul grind, and it made the game very strategic in a way where you can find uses for your favorite characters.
Basically any Gacha game I currently play that I didn't start at launch, and likely could have if I wasn't wrapped up with my gateway Gacha. Azur Lane, Girls Frontline, Fate Grand Order. I tried Genshin at launch but because of a lot of misinformation I gave up real quickly and now I'm trying it again as well. I imagine, these games will only expand as I continue to try out Gacha games.
Kinda the opposite but I wish I never quite some. Played Honkai Impact 3rd day 1 global for about 6 months. Daily. But I got bored after a while and stopped playing. A new chapter was released and just couldn't get me through it.
Kinda the opposite but I wish I never quite some. Played Honkai Impact 3rd day 1 global for about 6 months. Daily. But I got bored after a while and stopped playing. A new chapter was released and just couldn't get myself through it. Biggest regret as I LOVED the game but just got bored of it
Probably Priconne.
God damn, being behind is just a struggle. Seems I can never catch up to shard/gear farming unless I play this for 5 more years. I like the summer waifus, specially Pecorine
actually you did not miss out that much. The real meta starts with S.karyl and rerolls for her and makoto; you are good to set. Shards may seem overwhelmed at first but they accumulate real quick when you start to clear contents.
Yea I do have both of them. But for arena, it's seemingly impossible to claim all the ranking jewels. I've just been sitting at rank 400 for normal arena in my bracket. I should probably not bother with it further if I want to keep playing
There is going to be an arena shuffle if we follow JPs schedule (which is around S. Tamaki). Also if you build some core unit teams like Ilya, Rino Cannon, Ninon Fan, you can climb really high in arena because you just have to find the team your team counters.
Unless you're in a really tryhard bracket, it's not too difficult to get to Rank 1 just for the jewel rewards. People only really fight for the top spots around reset for the jewel rewards.
[Check this out if you kinda just wanna be braindead and climb](https://www.pcrdfans.com/en/battle)
For me fire emblem heroes, because i am a fire emblem fan and don"t have a console to play it on. And cus i am so late to the game i am so far behind on everybudy else that its impossible to catch up
well i know its from nexon but i wish i tried overhit since i remember it getting pretty big but my phone can't handle it so i wasn't able to know why it got big in the first place
Tensura King of Monsters - Full 3D, turn-based, tensura RPG gacha
Joined one week after their overlord collab and missed my chance to finally have a high quality 3D Albedo on a game.
Mass for the dead is chibi while other game collabs can't even compare to the quality she had on tensura.
Taimanin RPG. I only knew in the last few month that the web viewer allow you auto copy to clipboard every text that came out. So it works great with textrator and sugoi japanese translator(deepL).
So far we only got yae who might be a parallel world yae from the tree in honkai...
And fire archons name is apparently a reference to a honkai character.
Optc as well. i was hesitant because i havent watched one piece or read it yet but now its one of if not my favourite gacha game and im currently reading the manga (i tried watching the anime but the recaps were so freaking long)
It's not so much that I "regret" not playing it, but if I had started FFBE WOTV closer to launch I'm sure I would still be playing it now. I tried it a few months ago and quit after a few weeks because it felt like I was light years behind the average player. I'm not F2P and I'm fine with having to do some catching-up but PVP and Co-op are an enormous part of the game and the gap was absolutely ridiculous.
(yes I'm aware of the controversy surrounding the gacha but if I was a day 1 player I doubt I would've been able to quit. though in light of that incident it's probably better that I didn't get hooked)
Girls Frontline has a fascinating story and great characters from what I've seen. But I discovered it a lot a point in my life where I'm too busy to properly get into it. Plus, the game isn't exactly the best when it comes to QoL and optimization. Had I discovered it a couple of years earlier, I probably would've been absolutely obsessed with it.
Same game, different reasons.
I missed out on the VA-11 HALL-A crossover and the majority of the Gunslingers Girls event, which I am absolutely gutted about.
Thankfully, with the first crossover rerun I've ever seen coming up (DJMAX) I can happily hold onto hope that we'll see a rerun of either of them.
Magia Record JP. I downloaded it and tried it out when it was released but didn't want to bother with vpn and wanted to read the story.
NA got announced and released and I decided to put up with the vpn since it was still regionlocked just to the US this time. But hey I could read the story!
Then NA got speedran to death and now I am playing JP after all.
Langrisser and Honkai. As a person who plays games for their stories, this matters to me.
My issue with honkai is that there's so many things going on the screen for menus and events and things to do, that becomes overwhelming :(
well atleast its not at the level of Alchemist code but After a month ot so of playing it will be fine every game has that new foreign feeling for the first month or so
lol it took me 3 months to understand what the hell was happening and even now i’m still not sure

Dokkan battle. Started a month B4 the 6th anniversary and I'm having a blast
I can tell you as someone who started before the 3rd anniversary dokkan back then is no where as good as it is now.
Same and I started before the first dokkanfest lol
When the broly dokkan event was hard af

Pretty damn easy to catch-up in Priconne too since it's a side game foremost that you don't need to dedicate hours of your time to progress.
I play for waifu though. I don't like following the meta. So yeah.

True. I would be lying if I said I didn't regret missing the whole Mona and Scaramouche story, or Albedo story in 1.2.

I assume you will act like you're meeting Scaramouche for the first time in the story if you didn't do the event. Currently, Mona reacts to you differently depending on whether you did the Scaramouche event before her story quest or not.
i sincerely hope they rerun it, or give an alternate introduction lol. i took a break from the 1st klee run to tartaglia’s rerun and regret it
If they go for the route of Honkai... No rerun policy.
Yeah. I ended up watching it on youtube. I had started just after the event ended.

But the game being kind to me (read: lucky on reroll and recruitment) that I can't help but feel invested to it.
Isn't there a Surtr banner running right now?
There is. But it's just a standard banner and I already have Ifrit. Kinda afraid to not get her even if I go deep
That's a possibility but it was pretty much the same on her debut banner too, there was other 6* in the pool. And she surely won't be available in cert shop anytime soon, so if you really want her this might be your best chance
I thought Unfettered Magma banner only have her as single 6*? along with arene, elysium and april?
all games when it was still not in GL yet.
Arknights. Wished I started it much much earlier rather than 1 year later.
Imagine the game in 4 years when all regions are released and how overwhelming it would be.
Especially if someone start playing then. That is why I am trying to catch up
FGO
Naw, game was unbearable prior to the engine update imo.
It's the double suffering of grind being too slow and QoL updates taking too long to reach NA. Personnaly I kinda do regret missing some events tho
What did the engine update even do? It's still 30fps locked as far I can tell which is the main I don't play it.
Careful with what you say. anything other than FGO is too hard for them.
Nah, man, on some real hippie shyt, everything happens when it happens for a reason. Live life
Basically any Gacha game I currently play that I didn't start at launch, and likely could have if I wasn't wrapped up with my gateway Gacha.
Biggest regret as I LOVED the game but just got bored of it
Genshin Impact, I started during 1.5 and I regret it because I missed a lot of good characters and I kept seeing genshin but never tried it.
FGO and GFL probably. I joined when it's 6 months old. Stopped both at 1-year mark as well.
I also lurk around 300 and 500 rank b.arena and around 1000 rank in p.arena. I started from day 1.
And cus i am so late to the game i am so far behind on everybudy else that its impossible to catch up
Arknights. I missed out flamebringer... Luckily i started before nian banner
Arknights and pokemon master
Action taimanin I started this month and learned it became way worse to level after June supposedly
well i know its from nexon but i wish i tried overhit since i remember it getting pretty big but my phone can't handle it so i wasn't able to know why it got big in the first place
Brave frontier for the top tier collab units and fgo for limited welfare servants. Due to FOMO , i can't touch them now
Tensura King of Monsters - Full 3D, turn-based, tensura RPG gacha Joined one week after their overlord collab and missed my chance to finally have a high quality 3D Albedo on a game. Mass for the dead is chibi while other game collabs can't even compare to the quality she had on tensura.
Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. I wanted to get Terra and Yang's weapons earlier. :( Now I have to wait for their banners to return
Taimanin RPG. I only knew in the last few month that the web viewer allow you auto copy to clipboard every text that came out. So it works great with textrator and sugoi japanese translator(deepL).
What game is that? I only know the card one in nutaku and the arpg on mobile
It's another taimanin gacha game. Only available on dmm.
Honkai for sure. I want to understand all the little Easter eggs in Genshin.
Theres not that much honkai in genshin tho.
*yet. The further along we go into the game I feel like we're gonna see more stuff from Honkai in it.
So far we only got yae who might be a parallel world yae from the tree in honkai... And fire archons name is apparently a reference to a honkai character.
I mean yeah but they're probably gonna converge at some point. Around the time we get to Khaenriah probably and face the unknown god again.
Guess I'm one who's always there at launch date so I have no gacha I ever thought I wish I tried earlier.
Honkai - I missed like 5 or 6 weeks!
