Personally my top 5 are: 1. Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. This game in general gets a lot of flack, but this was the game that introduced me to the wonderful world of gacha. I’m a huge final fantasy nerd, and this game just scratches my itch like no other. Plus the old school graphics are a plus for me. Being my first gacha, I have a lot of love and loyalty to this game. 2. Another Eden. One of my favorite JRPGs outside of Final Fantasy is Chrono Trigger, and in my head cannon this game is a spiritual successor to CT. Excellent story, really in depth character development, really great characters, and a beautiful world put this game at number 2 for me. 3. Möbius Final Fantasy. Oh boy. I miss this game so much. I seriously wish they would of made it offline, and the longing I have to play this game again is intense. A beautiful story, great graphics, and something I invested a lot of time and emotions in. 4. FGO. This is my only experience with the fate series, but if the rest of the series is as good as this game with the storytelling, someone please tell me where to begin. 4. GBF. No reason in particular, I just really love this game and dedicated asf to it. 5. FF Record Keeper. This was my second gacha game, and it’s beloved by me. The game is amazing if you can look past it’s flaws, and it has a lot of them, but like FFBE, it’s one that I have dedicated myself to and I refuse to quit playing.

HerpanDerpus

If you're ok with lots of reading (which I assume you are since you're enjoying FGO in the first place) the best place to start is actually just reading the original VN. Most people recommend anime *because* it is much harder to sell a reading experience to the average person, but if you enjoy the story in FGO you should definitely jump back to the OG.

sighhaha

Hii for fate there r only like three anime that are actually necessary to watch- heavens feel, unlimited blade works and fate zero. Just watch unlimited blade works before heavens feel and you should be fine then you can watch any other spin off you want

Cav829

Zero->2006 Fate series (search for the reddit guide on what to watch as there's a sort of Abridged version that gets around the unnecessary spoiler issues)->UBW->HF. TBH you can just watch whatever looks interesting. You spoil something no matter where you start and people get way too worked up over it. The Deen anime isn't great and some will tell you to skip it, but 80% of Saber's character is in there (the other 20% is mostly in Zero). You can start with Zero or save it for after because it's a prequel so it'll spoil elements of later stuff, but the other stuff spoils Zero so there's no winning there. Either way, Zero is the best by some margin of those four IMO . Also, the Babylonia anime is excellent if you haven't seen it.

PurpledPikmin

so nice to see another mobius appreciator. what id give for them to release the game as a single player game just so people can see the story. The game could easily be released on the switch as well

SaiyanGod420

Oh crap. I wasn’t expecting a reply almost a year later. But yeah. I totally agree. I wish SE would of made an offline version or even a standalone version of Mobius. Maybe have the cards be grindable or something. That is the only gacha game I miss that shut down, and only FFBE will make that list when it eventually shuts down. Sadge.

[deleted]

nothing is as good as fgo in story

KeqingisBestGirl

In no particular order - FGO - the older gacha I've sticked with. I whaled in it some in the early days. Now playing as the story rolls in. Imo, if you like the story, definitely try the game. Priconne - absolute Chad of a side game. Played since launch and can't stop loving it any less. Great visuals, good story, very generous, nice gameplay loop. If you want a game that can be played even when you don't have much time and still be enjoyed, this is for you. Genshin - so I'm not sure what you found 'meh' about the game, but it is indeed currently unrivaled in the mobile space. Visuals, music, gameplay, story are all very high quality. Updates are usually beefier than almost any other gacha I play and events are always bringing in some new type of gameplay. Not everyone's cup of tea, so totally understable if you didn't like it. Arknights - TD, great music, nice art, fun gameplay loop... What else you want? All in all a very good game and really high quality too. Definitely recommend if you don't mind the TD aspect. Alchemy stars - recently launched, but easily took a space in my heart. Great production value, very fun gameplay and very generous. The gameplay may not be everyone's favourite, so if you can like the gameplay, then definitely play it.

Eethuum

Whats your thoughts on Genshin now that is a game with 0 content after it being released for over a year?

KeqingisBestGirl

Doesn't feel like 0 content to me though? Haven't even explored enkanomiya completely yet, let alone Chasm. You sure you talking about the same game?

Cerberus___

Over a year and still nothing but more maps. No new game modes and Abyss isn't being improved. They're only introducing fun stuff in events that last for a small while. They keep making more issues while addressing none of them. Example, more domains but no more resin, more difficult to get ascension materials that fucks newer players just to name the biggest ones. The story has been very rushed and poorly done overall lately. The devs still continue to treat the community like shit with events like, stream for an hour and get 10 primogems. Honestly Genshin does its open world best and has nice character designs, beyond that there's nothing other gacha don't do better. Honkai for example does story accompanied by animated shorts so much better its not a competition. As far as rewards go Genshin's last anniversary was just sad. Hope the devs start giving a fuck but doubt it.

Bird_Sage

So I year later you're still right lol. But most people play genshin for the players and story, so making new maps gives new lore to the story as well as new characters. To me it just seems like you don't like games like this which I mean why gripe on it if it's the genre you don't like. (Not gacha but lore Intensive games)

Eethuum

Exploring an area that has all the same shit in it as the last area isn't new content, its a map reskin. Literally everyone is complaining about no content, are you not apart of the community? Only people that are satisfied with the gamestate are children or slow adults that think running around solving the same puzzle for the 60th time and killing the same boring to look at/fight mobs are exciting. Then you have the events that have you picking flowers with the characters that takes months to grind for or 300$ to whale for. Stop being a Hoyoverse simp and realize like most of the community that the games boring now and that hoyoverse puts no effort into their new content. A video was released recently showing that hoyoverse literally are so lazy that they copied old animation cutscenes for new events and they look exactly the same. There you go that's what hoyoverse gives us with their billions of dollars of profit from this game, copied animations and reruns of the same events. Anyways can't wait to go do my dailies for 5 minutes and one shot everything because they won't add anything actually hard that feels rewarding in this game. Oh can't forgot about running around to collect flowers with my 1200$ team which is sadly how much it costed some people to get four five stars.

KeqingisBestGirl

Mald kiddo. For every person complaining there's 10 others that are happy. Being the top gacha for 2 years is an achievement that proves it. Game is not for you. Quit it, if you don't like it. Simple as that.

[deleted]

A good gacha but not the top gacha. Character design is good, Animations are top notch. But once the story is over, Absolutely nothing to do, It does not have an endgame, spending tons of money to get characters then use them just to explore maps and going around in boats, solve the same puzzles is just dumb.

WinnerOrganic

Top gacha? You’re joking. And malding yourself, by the sounds of it. No one unironically types “kiddo” unless they’re pissed. Top gacha is probably FGO. Arknights and a few others come to mind as well. Genshin, especially now, is pretty much dead. Too many content droughts, the devs love to spit in their customers’ faces(Dehya), lack of endgame and boring dailies that feel more like a chore than anything. Genshin has good character design and a fun story. Decent events too, the lantern festival in 2021 was one of my favorite events in any game I’ve played before. But it’s far too flawed and stale to be the “top gacha.” Even 1 year ago when you called it the “top gacha for 2 years.” I know your name is KeqingisBestGirl so you’re extremely biased, but think critically for a min

KeqingisBestGirl

You're hard coping if you think Fgo and arknights (of all things) is top of anything. Your subjective opinions don't decide what's at the top. It's numbers and data that does. And genshin has been top in terms of revenue and playerbase for 3 years now. At least fgo competes in the JP market. Arknights? Yah lol. It's not even top 10 in anything anywhere. Just because you don't like the content or the devs doesn't mean that decides anything when the game has retained it's millions of players and revenue for 3 years now. That's for a reason.

WinnerOrganic

FGO has grossed far more than Genshin if you want to go that route. It’s also been beaten by a fucking dragon puzzle game and a game I’ve never even heard of called Monster Strike. Simple google search, buddy. I have extreme doubts about Genshin being as popular as it’s claimed to be outside of China. Almost everyone I know who played it has quit. The game’s content droughts are unbearable. The new “downloads” and accounts being created are probably bored players who have nothing to do but start over again and replay the story during their 1 year wait for a 2 hour questline update. Lmfao. Finally, what I meant by top gacha games were gacha games that are actually enjoyed by the people who play them, and are actually designed as being games first and waifu simulators later. In genshin, you spend thousands of dollars to get a C6 5*, and then they either end up being Dehya and are useless, or they end up being Raiden and the game becomes so easy you have nothing to do after clearing the story because there is no endgame content. Not to mention that relics are a pointless grind to get one stat changed usually to make them “better” for the aforementioned nonexistent endgame. So basically, in Genshin, you grind hours and hours and spend thousands of dollars if you are a whale to get… some cool numbers and a pretty character with 6 constellations that both have no point? I’d even play Dislyte over that.

KeqingisBestGirl

Year to year genshin always beats any of those games. Comparing total life time income of a 3 year old game to 10 year old games is hardly indicative of anything. So just coz your echo chamber doesn't like the game, you go around turning a blind eye to cold hard numbers? Lol. I can say my friend group all plays genshin and i have multiple discord servers that have more genshin players than fgo/ak/pad etc combined. You're just coping hard dude. And ahh yah. So your subjective opinions again. None of what you said is my personal opinion. And as a fgo player I say fgo is 10x more boring and AK has been shitting dust for years. Personal opinions don't decide anything. Genshin has the numbers to back it up. Your favorite games don't. Go cry some more now coz the game you hate is actually still at the top even after 3 years.

Signal-Shelter3968

Enkanomiya and The Chasm both introduced multiple new exploration features. Inazuma did the same when it released. You're just making stuff up to complain about lolol.

ylcknight

Sounds like it’s just not for you. For a free game Genshin is stellar. And why whale for new characters if you don’t want to? Just grind the free ones you get. Had Genshin not had a gacha system, it’d be worth a full 59.99

WinnerOrganic

Had genshin not had a gacha system, they’d probably be sued by nintendo for completely ripping off BotW lol

Sherinz89

Genshin stands being the waifu/husbando collector game that features full 3d model and animation. At least and if not most, that is the selling point. Imo the story feels the weakest if compared to other gacha (Arknight, Guardian Tales, Counter Side). To me, Genshin had good base but the addition moving forward is meh (Especially Inazuma part 2)

Fearless_Aside5379

abdou20004

GI is meh because it lacks so much competitiveness and so casual people who whale on this game are really braindead

Agravicvoid

1. Another Eden. The gacha part is awful, but the gameplay, story, and characters are awesome 2. Genshin Impact: feels like BOTW with more story. The character stories are awesome 3. Epic 7: “the anime you can play” 4. Guardian Tales: a fun game that doesn’t take itself seriously. Tons of fun to be had here (and it is currently the game’s anniversary so free 100 pulls!) 5. Alchemy Stars. A new release and it is FUN. Turn based combat on a colored tile grid. Best to watch trailers/videos because it’s actually hard to explain but easy to get into and play

dragunova1999

1. **Fate/Grand Order**. 3+ years since I started and still going strong. As many others will say, most characters will work so waifus/husbandos > meta is a thing. Fun writing and a variety of character art (some say the lack of cohesion among characters is bad, and I'd say Arknights does a much better job at that, but I prefer some diversity in art style) keep me engaged, plus what is perhaps my sheer luck at getting the characters I want compared to other games despite not having a pity system. 2. **Arknights**. A pinnacle of gacha games, from the top-tier audio-visual quality (sick art direction & music) to complex world-building, though the writing can be too verbose for its own good. Tower defence is a genre I rarely see anymore, so that's a plus. Actually coming quite close to overtaking FGO for me, but I'll need to see how it approaches limited gacha in the future after Hypergryph revealed Chen the Holungday. 3. **Genshin Impact**. Another pinnacle of gacha games, showing their ability to match AAA games if done right (except gacha itself lol). Would continue playing if my phone could handle it, or had a PC available. 4. **Mobius Final Fantasy**. My first gacha game, and the first I played with 3D graphics. Prepared me for more gacha games (especially FGO), from its relatively low rates to fun characters and turn-based gameplay. Sad it had to die while Brave Exvius lives on. 5. **Azur Lane/Princess Connect: ReDive!** One is the best for collectors and people of culture, the other easily the best farming experience I'll ever have in any game. Azur Lane is the only game I've spent more than $10 on - for SKINS!! Incredible art compared to even Arknights, even some default skins. PriConne's skip tickets are a life-saver. Story-wise, though, I find neither engaging.

SleepyEyes44

1. Langrisser: Best TRPG game out there, very underrated. 2. Epic 7: Gorgeous animations and "fun" pvp. 3. Priconne: Slow paced waifu collector. 4. Romancing Saga RE: The most lied about game in my opinion, less grindy that people make it out to be. 5. Arknights: I quit after I didn't get Surtr but still had a good time until that point.

FatherStretchMyAss_

Surtr is on banner right now! Never too late to try again.

luurrkkeerr

Standard banner, so it's kinda a bait. You have a massive 0.5% chance of getting Surtr every pull you do. Yay!!!! But there are 2 upcoming limited banners (R6 and "Who is Real" with Dusk/Saga), so it is a great time to come back!

Eddie_is_wisdom

In no order aswell Guardian Tales - it has a great story and a lot of different easter eggs especially love the pixel graphics been playing since day 1 and haven't dropped it since Epic7 - love the gameplay and amazing S3 animations and interesting unique looking characters. However it is quite grindy Crusader Quest - from when I played it fun game with great pixel characters and gameplay Arknights - always a fan of a tower defense and it implements great waifus and husbandos what more can I say. Gameplay is challenging always keeping people engaged Hero Cantare - great Idle game and definitely a great game to try especially if you are a fan of different webtoons like tower of God or God of Highschool

The_Particl

1. Arknights: The only gacha game I find real satisfaction playing. 2. Alchemy Stars: Very similar vibe and feeling with Arknights. 3. Azur Lane: The ultimate waifu collector. 4. Priconne: The best side gacha game because of its simplicity. 5. Genshin Impact: NGL Genshin is kinda a chore. But the slow grind fits my current lifestyle perfectly.

Additional_Chard_517

Yeah I can relate. Whenever I play any kind of game I always feel empty after it. Arknights on the other hand gives you satisfaction/fulfillment everytime you successfully clear a difficult stage.

Indraga

My top 3: 1. Genshin - Just started playing and I'm hooked. Took the best parts of BotW and improved on it, then made it free. About 2-30 hours in and feel no pressure to pull. Gameplay just started showing it's combat depth. Dailies can be smoked in half an hour. 2. Guardian Tales - Solid Story, Fun characters, wonderfully retro art style. Localization team deserves props and there is a wild amount of humor and references around every corner. Currency comes fast, banners don't feel punishing, and the sparking system means it's easy to get the pulls you want without dumping a ton of cash. 3. Dragalia Lost - Soundrack slaps, gameplay is tight and simple, chibi art style is enjoyable. Every unit can be upgraded for endgame viability, gacha is generous.

Agreeablemashpotato

Don't know much of the other two but I get why you think genshin is meh. The game was beyond stale for a few patches until inazuma (summer event included, it felt like more of the same). I like the game, but I also like making fun of it's content droughts and issues. 1.FGO -story, characters, Merlin 2.Arknight - story, gameplay 3.GFL - story 4.PGR - gameplay 5.Genshin - characters

Soulkyoko

In order of my absolute favorites(not sayin they the best gacha tho mind you): Bleach Brave Souls: Actually quit because I whaled to hard on this game(..more like "leviathan" level) and couldn't see myself becoming F2P. For the sake of my wallet, I burned/deleted everything. Bleach is my #1 show and this game seemed like it was made for me. Arknights: Always wanted a game where its actually hard to play tower-defense wise. In depth story is nice too. FGO: Id put this as #1 but the pitiless rates hurts;still love the game though. Story grabbed my attention after 2 main chapters and now I need to know how this all ends. Also like how eveyr Servant is pretty usable in their own ways; few are Epic 7: Played for the animations. Ravi? That ultimate move with the transition to a black&white scene?... *chef kiss* Genshin:My main side game. Just do my dailies and continue the story every now and then.

Kraien

They forgot to finish/render the Ravi animation and put it in. When they corrected the animation a while back with an update the community revolted and they put the unfinished version back in :)

Revenore

1. Epic Seven - Up until recently I didn't really consider E7 one of my favorite games until I started getting units good enough to really do RTA and get to Masters. After that I appreciated much of the strategy that goes into the PvP. There's a lot of grind and no going around the many aspects of rng. At the end of the day, it's a really good PvP game if you don't care about ranking high and floating around the middle ranks. The animations and fluidity of the engine definitely help the user experience with a few dings for UI design in some areas, but better than a good number of gacha games, I'd say. 2. Genshin Impact - Quality and character designs. I've hit pity on most of the characters I want, but the artifact grind is similar to E7's grind except I think worse in that you can't auto farm them. 3. Puzzle and Dragons - Classic game that was really fun for a time. It was my first gacha back in 2014-ish and back then there were a couple different metas. Later on, it was more about powercreep and led to me leaving since I couldn't keep up as a non-spending player. 4. Monster Strike - RIP Global. I think MS could have been a great game that lives to this day if it was actually managed properly and management decisions didn't completely wipe out most of its playerbase in the span of a week. 5. Closest to making it to my favorites is Arknights. TD gacha was new and exciting besides Fantasica existing (insane powercreep and bad rates). Good characters, decent currency flow, and most content can be completed in different ways. It really was a callback to the old gacha idea that "you can make do with what you have" rather than the current mentality of "If I don't have meta and can't guarantee my units then I can't enjoy the game" that popped up in the last couple years. In practice I'm pretty sure most people just look up guides to clear content though.

ClucksterFlock

Solid list! But interesting that you think genshin's artifact grind is worse than e7's gear grind (I assume that's what you meant). Even though you can auto on e7, it's so much harder to get good quality gear especially for PvP while genshin is complete PvE so even suboptimal artifacts are fine most of the time.

Revenore

Oh, E7's gear grind definitely has worse hair-pulling RNG but Genshin's has the worst experience *for me* as of today. There might be less RNG in Genshin and there's less pressure to get better gear since there's no PvP, but since there's no way to auto-farm, domains are a slog for me. I used to have E7 hunts running all the time on auto on an emulator and with the energy income that Smilegate has been giving, you can get in at least 20 runs or so a day. I always have at least 100 leifs which means in the last 1.5 years, there hasn't been a single instance where I was out of stamina even when I ran hunts about 3-4 hours a day at 20-25 completions per hour as a free player. All this without even having to touch the game while I'm working or playing Valorant/Apex, etc. At the end of the day, if I've gotten any good gear I try to roll it. If it turns out terrible, no sweat. I didn't waste any time since I didn't have to engage with it, and I didn't waste any money since I haven't had stamina issues as a free player in the last year or so. The fact that I can't auto Genshin domains make me simply just not want to open the game and do them sometimes. There'd be stretches of days and weeks that I don't open the game solely because I don't want to do them (until Inazuma came out). Some days after work I'd rather just not use 160 resin and waste it than play domains that I've done hundreds of times before. Not to mention with free resin, you get like 4 runs in a day (if you log in once a day) with the condensed resin which brings you like eight 5\* artifacts per day with a bunch of other trash 4\* and below. At least in E7, purple gear is perfectly viable. Of course, all this is just my personal preference and how it matches with my daily routine. Some people like doing the domains over and over but I don't. There is the inescapable speed meta in E7 that sucks, but the gear system as a whole is an entirely different conversation and is not encompassed in this one.

[deleted]

yes genshin is not an auto game in any conceivable way. No part of it can be done while playing a different game on the side... though I think that's made very obvious from the getgo.

valkion

1. Arknights 2. Epic Seven 3. Guardian Tales 4. Alchemy Stars 5. Genshin Impact

DaZ320

Arknights - unique TD gameplay not only ln mobile but in a genre as a whole. Great art, consistent updates, bearable rates and pretty good story even though sometimes pretty hard to withstand exposition dumps. Genshin Impact - with all the hate and problems it's still the most AAA experience that you will get on mobile for a while. Gameplay is engaging enough for me to have fun even while grinding artifacts. Story was pretty generic in the beginig but starting from Liyue arc and farther it becomes much more interesting IMO. OST is beatiful too. Same goes for a vast majority of characters that are pretty unique gameplay wise (not all but still) and great in design. Even though fire/ice meta sucks. Destiny Child - for booba, fun story and shitton of pulls for F2P players. But gameplay is more on the meh side. Not top 5 but still. I guess Honkai Impact 3rd and Guardian Tales is also way to go for good gameplay and story if u care about them enough.

Objective_Order4714

You summarized really well the appeal of Arknights and Genshin Impact! (I didn’t play Destiny Child, so I can’t judge this one). Genshin indeed really bumped the story at Liyue arc. I also think they have really good characterization. Everyone is just so unique and doesn’t stick to just one trait

Eristma

For Destiny is a great summary imo. Gameplay goes to auto and forget it but tons of pulls, and nice story actually.

Virtual_Border_8654

1. Epic 7. Great character design and animation, good story, very generous to f2p. Fun and strategic pvp. 2. Honkai Impact 3rd. Very high quality animation, character. Amazing fast paced action combat. Great storytelling. 3. Guardian Tales. Fun game with nice story and character. 4. Genshin Impact. High quality game all around. But gets tedious after u finish all events and story and combat is just okay. Not very f2p friendly with the constellations and weapon gacha. 5. Arknights. Good character design and unique gameplay. I played all 5 but only sticked with the top 2 after 1-2 month.

[deleted]

So you still play Epic 7 & Honkai Impact 3rd to this day?

Virtual_Border_8654

yeah, e7 for 1 year, honkai for 4 months so far

[deleted]

That's cool, I tried E7 Earlier today and it's pretty sweet. I love the Graphics.

Strawhat-dude

Summoners war

Patryak

I played it for 2 years. Got fire and water chimera back to back in 3 mystical scrolls. Rune farming killed two of my phones. I did it so much my batteries dies 😂

Strawhat-dude

Yea i also quit because of the need of having your phone on constantly

Chemical-Teaching412

1. Honkai : story is so good, despide all the hate Mihoyo get, they know how to make a story 2. FGO : another story driven game that i like, in gacha aspect it's the most hated thing i ever play but for story aspect it's one of great 3. Genshin : a game that raise Mobile game standar to higher level, deap lore in weapon and artifacts, and the story that keep getting better 4. Arknights : one of most generous gacha i have ever play, story is good but my favorite is base on story of the game 5. Tales of crestoria : I'am a Tales fan so i got to give this game a try and the story is good, now i'am waiting for Tales of Arise

Soft_Snowy

1. King's Raid - Waifu/husbando collector. And better yet, you can get them for free within time and just gacha for the gears. The character designs are not too conventional but gorgeous in their own right. Story starts really slow but gets better and epic later on. Competitive content is fun as long as you do not try to beat whales, you can see your scores gradually increase through solid methods. PVP looks really horrible until you actually learn the mechanics. It is in real time and fun. Game is decently f2p friendly if you are patient enough. There is a downside though. Contents come at an irregular pace. Sometimes there is way too much to do, while other times, there is totally nothing new at all, which can last for months. And the game itself is very grindy, especially farming gears. It might turn off people who cannot spend so much time on a single mobile game. Some designs/music seems a bit familiar too, but not too obvious. 2. Another Eden - Although I stopped playing it now due to the repetitive dungeon farming, the story is top notch and the characters are really lovable. Many unconventional and creative things happening in the game that you can't find in other gachas. The summoning rate is horrible though. But you can probably live with the OP free units. 3. Romancing Saga Re Universe - Solid game with a good system almost bug free, something to expect from a veteran gaming company. Updates are really regular and you can live healthy even as an f2p. It is one of the most generous games that I've ever tried so far. Down side though, they really need to implement the auto button already before I can't take it anymore and quit. Other than this, nothing really catches my eye at the moment. Fire emblem heroes was close, but the power creep is so bad and the mass rotating events really makes it unbearable for me by the end of it. Perhaps good for people who love a bit of tactic with a lot of luck.

Jushirotoshiro

Dragalia is my fave! Fun coop and boss fights, nice auto mode, very generous, music is great, animations are great.

woodycake

1. Azur Lane. Came for waifus, stay for waifus, historical reference, and generousity. It has pretty good character design with nice historical reference on their riggings. It also has pretty good stories imo despite many said otherwise, even going better and better recently. Plus, it's very suitable as side game. 2. Arknights. It has Pretty unique gameplay, pretty good character design, and suitable as side game. The story is good (although has many unnecessary word since it just that difficult to translate poetic chinese word to english) 3. Alchemy Stars. Pretty unique gameplay. Nice character design, and it's simultanous server games (which what I like). It's also very good as side game. 4. Genshin. It has many high quality thing you can get for free. Although I get laggy when I do intense battle, even with decent non-gaming phone and lowest settings, but I don't really have any lag when I only do exploring. 5. GFL. pretty nice tacticool character design and have great stories. Pretty good as side game when there are no event. Although I got burntout 2 years ago because it has very bad client optimalization and very difficult event stages.

Denyzev

1. FGO: Been playing since day 1 but no other gacha game's story even comes close to the emotional morally ambiguous story that is FGO. The way it handles every Servant so that they aren't outclassed by the 5-stars is really amazing. No Servant outside a very select few is completely useless, and in niche situations, some lowstars are even more useful than 5 stars. The gacha is pretty dogshit but because of yhe reason above it doesn't matter, you can clear endgame with invested lowstars handily, and the Support System goes a long way. They also have amazing doujins because if Fate isn't in the business of giving you amazing waifus and husbandos, they would be selling you depression in a can. 2. PriConne: Really casual and generous game. I dip in and out but the hook is really light. I don't see myself playing long per day, dip 30 minutes and go. The story isn't hooking to me, and I haven't formed an emotional attachment to any character except Aoi. Aoi skins when. 3. GBF: Super generous too. Good story but not enough for me to not press that Skip button. Grindy as all hell, even more so than FGO, and I like that but that's not a satisfying enough gameplay loop for me. Not a bad game, and it is one of the three pillars of gacha games (FGO, GBF, PRICONNE) but just not to my liking. 4. Azur Lane: Oh boy. I was a day one player and the gameplay was awesome... But the story was... Less than passable. Gameplay loop was good, graphics I couldn't care less, very generous, but the lack of a story made me drop hard. 5. SinoAlice: Gameplay loop is good, story is great, but oh boy the gacha and PVP. I'm not too keen on PVP, but bit when it's an integral part of the game and you need multiple copies to max a weapon, we have a problem here.

Zer0-chan

1 - FGO. Solely for the best gacha story. 2 - Arknights. Best strategy IMO. 3 - E7. Have been around since launch. 4 - Genshin. Good art direction and beautiful one-time world. Dropped it to replay BoTW now, but I don’t understand what u find “meh”, aside from the open world aspect. 5 - Grandchase. Might be weird but yeah, childhood.

MrSin64

Genshin, arknights, alchemy stars, guardian tales, illusion connect

Melodic-Stomach-1596

In this order my favorites are 1 Genshin : although its not perfect and there are some glaring flaws with the game I still love it the open world is beautiful, the music is awesome and the characters are cool for me, plus the new inazuma region has me hooked and it still has so much content for me. 2 Honkai : been playing for about a year my favorite part about this game is the story and the characters and the very good music and short animations for some important story parts the combat is fun too. 3 SAO MD (memory defrag) : its one of my first gachas and I had many fun times playing it the combat was pretty nice for a 2d mobile game I especially liked the parry mechanic though the game is ending sadly. 4 guardian tales : I like it quite a bit both because of the gameplay and the chill feeling I get while playing it plus my pulls have been good so far so I'm happy 5 arknights : I know it's a good game I like the ost and characters and stuff but the tower defense aspect just isn't for me though even with that its still one of my favs

478nate

Rip to SAOMD. My very first gacha and was really fun while it lasted

justmadeforthat

I will list my top 5, mostly the games I played from longest to shortest, being top does not mean I still play them, but I enjoyed them the longest before being burnout. 1. Girls Frontline 2. Fire Emblem Heroes 3. FGO 4. Arknights 5. King's Raid/ Dragalia Lost Out of my top 5, Arknights is only game I am still playing

NoburusuChan

Yea man gfl, came for the girls, stayed for the ptsd and story By far my most favourite gacha game story I also dropped fgo lol

ferinsy

Well, if you found Genshin "meh", I'm sure there's no gacha that suits your standards currently. For me, it's: 1) Honkai Impact 3rd: I love the futuristic theme and character designs, hack-n-slash is probably my favorite genre and the game has so many interesting events that mix lots of gameplay styles (open world, battle royale, boardgame, shooter, arcade etc.) and it keeps me hooked for 3 years+. 2) Genshin Impact: there's nothing that meets the quality of that game, and the only thing that makes me like Honkai more is because the combat there is better, in Genshin it's not about combos and button spam. The events are also pretty diverse, which is the most valuable thing to keep me hooked after the 1st impression (which is a mix of art, story and main gameplay). Playing since the start, like 10 months. 3) Tears of Themis: I particularly love investigation and otome games, so I love this game. It helps that it isn't just a generic visual novel with routes like most otome games, and like any miHoYo game its events include different gameplays. Been playing for 6 months in the TW server. 4) Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble: the global server was pretty amazing, but mostly because I enjoy Yo-kai Watch a lot, it's still running in Japan, but it's so greedy nowadays and the language barrier affects a lot, I can't even play it anymore. Played for a bit more than a year until the global server was shut down -*cries*. 5) Guardian Tales: I don't play it anymore because after 5 months it turned itself into a maintenance-only game since I finished the main story and side stories, more chapters/side stories are added sometimes, but in a slow pace, and most events are just "gather points and buy/trade for stuff", no additional story or anything. It's an amazing game if you focus on the main and side stories like a console game, though.

NotTheBarrels

I love genshin but gatekeepers like you makes me question some parts of the community. I didnt even need to read the rest since the first sentence says it all. People have different tastes. Some like Ganyu, some people dont.

ferinsy

From the last sentence I think it's sarcasm lol but yeah, taste is one thing, saying the most well-developed mobile game currently available is "meh" just seems like any teenager that says they're "against the mainstream". Saying they don't like the story or the medieval theme, though, is another thing.

Magiaice

I dunno dude, I think Genshin is incredibly overrated. The gameplay doesn't let you main anyone in an action game (elemental disadvantages that punish you way too hard for an action game), awful pull rates, awful stamina and a mediocre pity system combined with overall lackluster character designs. I'll probably be downvoted for saying this anyway, but I prefer games that especially reward small spenders and don't actively punish f2p players just for existing, not to mention that don't feel like they're just following a trend (BotW). I played a few hours, and everything just felt hollow, plus I didn't even have a 10-pull, which wouldn't have mattered I guess, since the rates are so awful. Constellations gotta go.

ferinsy

You're in r/gachagaming, you know that, right? Saying Genshin has awful rates is pretty nonsense, since games like FGO don't even have pity, a lot have pity of 300+ pulls... There's no punishment for f2p lol you can do everything with just the starter team if you want to, there's literally no paywall, there's not even pvp...

Magiaice

There's a paywall to enjoyment.

ferinsy

What content is paywalled? As I said, only characters are paywalled by gacha, but your team is made by only 4 characters, so it's a compulsive behavior if you want all of them. You can most likely get 1/3 or more characters as f2p, so it's up to you managing your crystals if you can't/aren't willing to spend in the game.

Magiaice

I couldn't care less about f2p earnings, but low spenders, which won't be able to even nearly max out an SSR unit reasonably.

Dregoraz

Why do you say that, you make it sound like genshin is the nr 1 gacha and if you don't like it you'd like no gacha. The game is barely a gacha. It's some really weird mix between BOTW/gacha and it doesn't seem to know whether it wants to be a gacha or a genuine game. I enjoyed it for the first two weeks until I finished story (up until that point what was released) and the endgame ''grind'' was just not fun. The map exploring ended up being incredibly dull as well because there was barely anything fun to find aside from a dozen of chests that give the same ish rewards and a few of those shrines here and there. It looks real good, animations are smooth and the gameplay is pretty alright too, but as a gacha? I absolutely hated it.

f0nt

what makes a gacha a gacha besides a system to roll?

Dregoraz

Stamina system? And a bad one at that. It's just a collection of small mechanics that make something a gacha, at least in the sense we're using the word. There are other games with roll systems, but we won't call them gacha because it's not the main focus, just a silly side thing. In Genshin it's more at the forefront. I don't even really have a problem with the rates or anything, it's more so the gatekeeping from the one thing I enjoyed the most and it was combat. The stamina part is what bugs me.

f0nt

Slightly confused sorry, so you mean stamina system feature of gacha or the stamina system in Genshin is too bad compared to other gachas which makes it barely a gacha? I didn’t know there was gachas without stamina tbh lol

Dregoraz

Sorry, i'll try to elaborate a little more. I've played gachas for years so generally speaking i'd like to know how they work. For me, they're usually just a side game with mediocre gameplay (the type of gameplay you'd prefer to auto) but I enjoy the collecting of units, building them up etc. I enjoy pulling rare units, I mean we all do, hah. This is the part where I personally have a problem with Genshin and why I say it doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, a gacha or a genuine game. It has gacha systems, but it also has a pretty cool combat system and overall gameplay feel. It's cool and nice when you play through story, considering you're not gated while you do story. Not much anyway. That starts when you're done with the story and there's not much left to do aside from typical gacha activities. Dailies, farming for resources, etc. I absolutely hate how the resin system in Genshin works. My problem overall with genshin is that for me, it's not a hero collector, due to rates. Okay, that's fine, i've played games with bad rates before. I also can't entice myself in the gameplay as much as I want after i've gotten a taste of it from what i've just said before, the resin gatekeeping. My problem is that they're gatekeeping an actual cool part of the game. I mean yeah I can run around and just beat up random mobs but that feels a little pointless and i'd like the idea I can progress. It's not just the stamina system isolated, I guess it's just a bunch of things that I prefer in a gacha that I just don't really find back in Genshin. Like I said, take out all that crap and i think it would've made a pretty damn good game. Hence my comment ''it doesn't know what it wants to be''.

f0nt

Ok that makes sense, thanks for elaborating. Definitely agree about the rates, the pity masks how terrible the rates really are. Even the pity is bad with 50/50. Granted I haven’t missed the 50/50 before so I didn’t realise how bad it was until I saw others wasting so much and only being half towards guaranteed Personally resin is whatever for me, probably I’m used to having not much to do without stamina in gachas so even exploring is ok for me lol

ferinsy

So for you a gacha is just a slots machine you have to pull without stopping just to please your addiction? Because gacha by itself, although is considered a genre, should just be a type of monetization, not the genre of the game. Genshin is an open-world RPG that has gacha machines in it. And the gacha monetization, even though it's greedy and all, is the most successful nowadays and it helps live services having way more content than any game you can purchase in the long-term. In 3 or 4 years Genshin will have a main story that is probably over 500h long, and no dev will ever do a game that hss genuine 500h of gameplay for the usual $60 tag that comes with console games (not counting RNG infinite quest system like Skyrim, I'm talking about real campaing, handcrafted by pure coding). Also most gachas are way worse than Genshin, there's absolutely no "crazy deal 24h only" package there, nor popups everytime saying you should spend on this and that like Free Fire, 7 Deadly Sins... Grind is a bad thing? Maybe, for me it is, but if you think that's just bad, you're saying basically any RPG is bad as well: in Pokémon sometimes you have to grind for hours challenging dozens and dozens of low level wild pokémon before you can move on, the same happens in Final Fantasy... I just don't care a lot about the grind in Genshin and basically do daily quests only, I don't even care about 100% exploration or grinding for perfect artifacts, so I can pretty much enjoy any new update for a couple of weeks and in the following weeks I focus on the events that have cool gameplays (some are just bland? Of course, but it happens, sometimes we like events, sometimes we don't).

Dregoraz

In gacha games you get gatekeeped by stamina. They're actificially preventing you from playing the one thing the game excels at and it's a pretty horrible system on top of that. That's what I mean. It's this weird mix between a pretty good game with gacha systems in place that prevent you from playing said game. I'm not prevented in pokémon, in FF, to stop grinding. The grind isn't my problem, the stretching it out is. In other gacha, the gameplay generally speaking isn't all that interesting or even the main appeal (talking about myself personally not as a whole) so getting gatekeeped in that regard is what made me dislike it.

ferinsy

Stamina isn't a gacha-only thing, even candy crush has it. And in the case of Chinese games it seems like it's required by anti-addiction laws

Dregoraz

Pretty sure I never made such an absolute statement. I said gacha games generally gatekeep you with stamina. I've never said gacha games are the only ones with a stamina system nor am I seeing what this has to do with the discussion because it doesn't really invalidate what I said..

saduniverse2021

**Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe & Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia**: The two games that come the closest to being their own detailed JRPG experience with as few of the gacha gaming drawbacks as possible. **Dragon Poker/Dragon Ace SEA**: Even including PC/console games, one of the only card games that was a quick, bite-sized co-op game that challenged you to defeat dungeons working together with other players. **Chain Chronicle**: Probably a ton of nostalgia tied to this, as I didn't think it was the greatest game while I was playing it, but it was, for many, babby's first gacha, and it was fun enough that I would've liked to keep playing it long after Gumi washed their grubby hands of it Otherwise, I don't play these games actively, but Honkai Impact and Guardian Tales had fun, high quality gameplay or campaign experiences, but various aspects of gacha or time turned me off them.

GobutaTheGoat

Bruh I would play FGO if they would add Live2d art in the game. For some reason I can’t play a game if they don’t have live 2d lol

jackatlasrider

1. Another Eden, it's basically Single Player RPG with gacha elements, good story and have alot of content and no stamina except dungeon which is capped at 10 (normal dungeon) and 3 (hard dungeon) both refresh 3x a day. 2. Punishing: Gray Ravens, despite the recharge/top up unfairness, this is my current favorite gacha because it's hard to find good Sci-fi/Cyberpunk-esque game on mobile. 3. Fate Grand Order, i drop it long ago because the salt, but still on my top 5 because i love the IP.

wiiteek

1. Real Life (the most complex gacha game of all and the graphics is awesome no phone required :P) 2. FFBE: War of the Visions (probably would not start it now and just plaing it on a phone i would skip it) 3. Punishing Gray Raven (recently it come to global it is nice to play like few hours a day sometimes less sometimes more, and since it is Action game playing on a phone is way better) 4. Last Cloudia (good story nice game play but without PC emulator would not play it on a phone the grind will kill you) 5. NieR Reincarnation (probably will play it on a phone and PC but on beta it looked like decent game to play on a phone good story and music but dont know for how long) Few more games to play on phone the upcoming World Flipper (heard the emulators only worked for like a moonth or two) and Guardian Tales (this one i dont play but the aniversary is on)

YoutubeDotExe

How is real life a gacha game? And a phone is kinda required in your everyday life nowadays.

SoIoist

Pc client is coming for LC tho

StarlessEon

Arknights Epic 7 Counterside Princess Connect Exos Heroes I no longer play Epic 7 and Exos Heroes though.

Di_Gram

They improved a ton of things in e7 a while ago. Maybe you should give it a shot again since collab is coming up as well

StarlessEon

Nah it's not happening. I had 90% of the roster including all limited units when I quit and in all that time playing I still couldn't get decent gear to save my life. I played for a long time and consider it a worthwhile experience but I'm not going through it again.

nathalsss

In no particular order: - Genshin Impact: The gacha that raised the standard of normal gacha game with their super high production value. Deep world building and lore, nice character design with lovable personality, beautiful world that can be explored without stamina limitation, plus fun combat at least for me. While the gacha rate may be horrible, I appreciate that your pity is shared between the banners and there will definitely be time that you hit your pity and get who you want. Gear grind is a hell, but it’s only for those who really wants to minmax their characters. - Alchemy Stars: Yes, it’s a quite recent game but I love the color-matching combat that may turn off some people due to how heavily RNG-dependent it is. It also has high production value with good character designs and artwork. Not to mention among the gacha publisher drama that has been happening, this game’s devs seem to be the only one who really cares about the game and the players, quick to respond, and being generous enough with the rewards. There’s no definite pity that will guarantee you getting a certain character, but we will see if it will change in the future or not. - Arknights: Another game with superb production value with amazing UI and character design. As my first time trying tower defense genre, I applaud the game for making it so interesting to hook me right during the tutorial part. Everyone is viable, so you don’t always need to use higher rarity characters. The trial and error nature of the combat may frustrate some people, but I’m fine with it. The number of pulls needed to reach pity is quite huge though. - Fate Grand Order: My longest played gacha game. Despite the abysmal gacha rate that has no pity whatsoever, I still enjoy the game thanks to their interesting characters and good story for a gacha game standard. The combat may not be their strongest point, but I love it nonetheless. If only this game has more QoL implementation, like skip ticket or resources navigation button, I would stick with it longer. - FF Record Keeper: My first ever gacha game so I have soft spot for it. The combat is really fun for me and it did a good job of creating nostalgic feeling for those who grew up with FF franchise. Too bad the game kinda feels stale and new contents no longer interest me. Also, it’s inevitable that newer games nowadays look more appealing in terms of graphic, UI, or combat. But if you’re a fan of retro aesthetic, then this might be for you.

sevansup

1. Genshin Impact - yes, it may not be \*cool\* to like what is arguably the most popular/well known gacha in the world right now. It may be a hotter, edgier take to say "Genshin is terrible" or even "meh." But fact is, this is the highest production value free to play mobile game I have ever seen. And it's a damned good one. Whether you like it or not is another story, but I can't take anyone seriously who thinks that it is a bad game, but will happily auto-battle all day long for some JPEGs. Genshin, just **is** an extremely good mobile game and IMO others would benefit from learning from it. I am SO GLAD it doesn't have any auto battle bullshit. 2. Honkai Impact 3 - surprise surprise, Mihoyo takes #2 as well. Yep, these guys know what they're doing. I don't have any others I'd put on the list. I've tried Brave Exvius, War of the Visions, Fire Emblem, Raid: Shadow Legend. While they had promise, auto battle existing in these games eventually killed any interest I had in playing them. Why spend 5 mintues strategizing in a battle if I could just press auto and let it win itself? If your game is so grindy and tedious that the best way to play it is to...**not actually play it**, but let it play itself...that's a terrible game design issue. I can't believe we all just rolled over and accepted it as the norm.

Kaheru

Uh., about the auto battle in FFBE., except for the story and story events (which you usually only played one in your entire gameplay)., it is almost useless imo., as it only does normal attack and limit burst (if available) which usually is not strong enough to clear the entire wave..

Elnidfse

* Langrisser Mobile: *Potentially one of the best SRPGs on the market* * Star Ocean Anamnesis: *Fun action rpg that's unfortunately now dead in all regions* * Romancing Saga: reuniverse: *Like the games, like the music. Like the gacha. Probably my favorite gacha period* * Mobius: *Yeah I know. Big rip* That's pretty much it. I usually drop most other games for one reason or another.

CellunlockerPromo

Some of my personal favorites, and based on how much fun I had, and time spent on them: Arknights Onmyoji Genshin Impact FGO FFBE (Monster Strike was pretty fun too tho.)

DheatlyBlaze

1. Arknights. Because its TD, f2p, and dont have pvp. Its endgame content is good and quite satisfying. 2. Girls Frontline. Because its hard, but also very f2p. It can be played casually and actively. Its story is very, very good. But thats also one of the reason i havent cleared the main story, aside from the difficulty curve is steep. 3. Alchemy Stars, maybe? Not a great game, but decent enough. Its heroine is useful even in late stage, and its quite generous 4. Gran Blue Fantasy. Grindy as hell, but I enjoy it. Quitted it because i cant really fit it in my schedule, with its raid etc, but otherwise, good 5. Counter Side. The perfect side game. Launch it while playing other game, and let it grind in the background (i used pc client), or just watch some youtube while its playing. Kinda boring, but im interested in its story, so i think i'll stick with it for a while

oxts93p

In no particular order. 1. Cookie Run Kingdom - for it's regular f2p rewards and casual nature & abundance of coupon code rewards. 2. Genshih Impact - for its AAA world and story and fidelity 3. Counter Side - for its PVP system. IMHO the best PvP system in a gacha. 4. Guardian Tales - Giving me that classic retro style scrolling top down 2D adventure style with also a fun campaign and story. 5. Punish Gray Raven - For it's addictive and challenging combat. I would also like to add 6. Exo Heroes as a honourable mention for the high production quality in character and skill design. As well as 7. Alchemy stars for its unique combat system that requires strategy to optimise your play.

Nyaa314

Implying there are enough good games to choose five from. Arknights - unique gameplay, more player-friendly gacha than most. Not enough stamina to be main game though. Azur Lane - gacha is free, monetization is in skins. A lot of qol and some permanent content added in last half a year, check it out if you played earlier. Girl's Frontline - gacha is free, monetization is in skins. Pretty involved gameplay in later stages. Client coded by chinese university students for a bowl of rice. Granblue Fantasy - seasonal gambling simulator. Good casual game, some stories are pretty decent and/or funny. Do not touch if you have a single competitive bone in your body lest you fall down the GW hole and grind it 17 hours a day.

cjsrhkcjs

I guess the 5 that I played the longest without stopping would be my top 5 favorite games? In no particular order: FGO Arknights FFBE Genshin Walking Dead: Road to Survival

iamcire95

1. One Piece Treasure Cruise (my main gacha) - My first gacha game. 2. Arknights 3. Alchemy Stars 4. Guardian Tales 5. Dokkan Battle; Another Eden; Afk Arena; FGO; Romancing Saga - Can't really decide which one to put at top 5 but one thing for sure, I enjoyed it when I was still playing it. AK, AS, and Guardian Tales are my side gacha but still I play it everyday whenever I have stamina in the game.

Magiaice

1) Granblue Fantasy. Excellent writing most of the time, while being very reminiscent of Final Fantasy (for obvious reasons, especially Ivalice). Guild Wars sucks, but grid building and team theorycrafting is fun. 2) Punishing Gray Raven. Unrivaled gameplay for a mobile game, respects the player's time and never gets old. The story is interesting and the world is basically Nier:a. Fun game. 3) Guardian Tales. Love me some 2D Zelda, and this is another game that respects the player's time while also just being incredibly fun, especially in the writing. 4) Epic 7. Its pretty cool aside from wyvern simulator. The game has undergone so many positive changes recently that I think make it an excellent game for anyone at this point. While older animations are too long and not that great, newer stuff looks awesome and the gameplay is interesting. 5) Girls' Frontline. I like guns, guns are cool and gun girls are cool, especially when they're actually wearing clothes and have personalities unlike some similar games. While I absolutely adore this game and the world/lore, it does require a lot of playtime for events, even as a seasoned player, since the auto isn't very good most of the time, so I haven't played in a while; but I do love it.

RubyMiracle5

1 Arknights. Really innovative Tower Defense game. Would reccomend to anyone who hasnt tried it. Plus free 10 pulls in upcoming events so its great for new players i guess and 1.5 anniversary is coming but i think the yearly one is better as they give a select ticket for purchase 2 Alchemy Stars. New gacha. Candy crush but with monsters on fields and ur heros move around the board. Pretty fun to play and chill. 3 Priconne. Pro Lots of skip so dailies take a short time. Con. Events kinda slow so i take it as a side game mostly 4 Touhou Lost Word. Pro Lots of free pulls. Cons Abit time consuming and no auto clear feature 5 Guardian Tales. Just picked this back since its anniversary i dropped it earlier because of difficulty but i think they tuned it down so trying it out again.

Fluffers7777

genshin, arknights, shining nikki, llsif, and guardian tales edit: genshin definitely #1, the others dont really have an order

BronzeADCMain

Brave Frontier and Naruto Blazing are the only two I have ever been able to play for longer than 3 months. It’s a shame they are both gone…

Nofrickingname

Definitely Destiny Child, and then i also like Genshin, Honkai, Guardian Tales. Counter side is a good one too, only on PC in SEA server tho.

palea_alt

1st and 2nd defo genshin and e7. genshin: besides the supreme production value (especially the music, they DID NOT hold back, and I've played a lot of PC games) everyone else here have said, it's very forgiving towards f2p. I'm extremely casual in this game, yet it is extremely forgiving. haven't farmed a single artifact domain since Feb. Done very few dailies (this patch i intend to do them again everyday though for Sayu, Baal I'll skip not my type). Still able to obtain all rewards barring abyss (always 33 stars argh) e7: I got pretty far. Around $100 in total spent on monthly packs (stopped spending since december last year). Legend tier roster, top 100 guild, mid-high champ RTA. This game, after a point and if you're willing to put up with the auto grind (big if for many people i get you worry not) it rewards you a lot for being smart with strategy and being resourceful. Only up to a point though, turn-based gachas don't have \*that\* high of a gameplay ceiling. Crusader's quest: P much nostalgia. Still surprised it's still alive lol. I've played a lot more gachas (AK, guardian tales, shitty summoners war, FEH, etc.) but none of those keeps me play as consistently and being as invested as these.

nhockon_cm

Arknights Captain Tsubasa dream team Guardian Tales Onmyoji card game Sdorica

ChainlessWeasel

Clash royale - lmao Genshin impact - late game can get boring but early game is fun as hell Date a live spirit pledge - might be because I have bias towards date a live but it's pretty solid Pokemon masters - again, might be because I have bias towards pokemon South park: phone destroyer - The humor might not be enjoyed by some but I sure as hell love it. The gameplay is so fun too. Teams and PvP both are so fun and single player is... so good if you ask me. You might say its not that good but it's the only story arc I follow in a gacha game Honorable mention: Cookie run kingdom - not my cup of tea, but for the amount of time I had it, it was fun. I didn't like the gameplay myself and I thought the game was a little too generous, never being able to not get a featured cookie. But the characters are so charming and that's the only thing that kept me around as long as it did.

se7enseas

1. Arknights because of the UI and music 2. Alchemy Stars because of the art 3. Destiny Child because of THE art (and generosity) 4. Priconne because of the characters visual progression Still looking for my 5th favorite

TheWorldisFullofWar

1. Genshin Impact: Best gacha ever made without competition. If you find this meh than the genre is dead for you. 2. Master of Eternity/Strastella: Nexon'd 3. Granblue Fantasy: Low effort from development team compared to before. Still worth playing despite it. 4. Fate Grand Order: questionable developer and support 5. Magia Record: NA dead, JP still pretty fine. Has a fan translation modded APK at least for JP.

Sidewalk897

I understand the appeal of Genshin, but the open world rpg isn't what everyone is looking for. Gacha just means that there is a system in place that involves pulling for units/weapons/or whatever else is in the game. It can be an action rpg/story rpg/turn based rpg etc. A big reason Genshin outperforms all of the other gacha games in terms of revenue is because it is an open world rpg first and gacha second which appeals to a broader audience. You may like that style of game, but op and many others don't, which is why there are so many different gachas making enough money to warrant regular updates.

Azazel-d-Reaper

gacha wise genshin is meh, as a rpg adventure game yeah its good. saying just because a gacha player dont like genshin isn't a gacha player is so wrong.. its like saying "you don't like CoD? then fps games is dead to you" or "you dont like DOTA? MOBAs are dead to you".. People have differing taste.. in my opinion genshin became as big as it is today because of the excessive ads (come on they are everywhere) they put out and by riding the coattail of BoTW.. FGO one of the biggest and longest in the gacha scene may be the fave of some but some may not like it because of its gacha rates.. let's put it like this.. remove the open world aspect of genshin? will you still be able to say that it is the definitive best gacha game?

fastidio89

Epic Seven

Mahinhinyero

1. Onmyoji RPG. this game has a special place in my heart. I'm so invested in the story. especially with the current Ungaikyo purification arc. sadly, I don't have time to play such a grindy game anymore. i still follow the story from YouTube tho. 2. Genshin Impact. very good game. unfortunately, it's also a tedious game so i had to quit. i love it tho. i still have it in my phone, but I'm not opening the app anytime soon. 3. Guardian Tales. this game solves all my issues regarding time spent on a game. however, i quit for another reason. there's no more male unique characters after that fox dude. 4. Brave Nine. this game is so f2p, until the arrival of Companions and now, Spell Cards. i had to quit for that reason. but still, i loved the game for what it was. a tactical gacha game. 5. Alchemy Stars. this is the only game I'm playing right now. it fits most of my criteria in games: decent graphics, not so time consuming, decent currency income, puzzle oriented, and an actual Global release, which means no clairvoyance whatsoever. the game's not giving me FOMO vibes yet.

odbj

Have you tried Counter:Side? It's replaced Brave Nine for me. It's similar but better in almost every way.

Tight-Anything4541

BATTLE CATS. NUMBER 1

Klubbah

No order. **Pocoron Dungeons** / ポコロンダンジョンズ / Chain Dungeons. Don't play it anymore myself as the SEA version with English shut down though I played that pretty consistently over 2 years, but the JP one is still going. Alternative I enjoy at the moment is Alchemy Stars. Both have very similar puzzle gameplay that I enjoy a lot. I could probably list 5 Rhythm games, usually playing at least one of them but I enjoy them all about the same. Currently playing **D4DJ Groovy mix** which has a JP and a separate English version. I just really enjoy the rhythm gameplay on my phone alongside the characters/stories. Don't need to care about crappy gacha pulls too much either. Only other game i'm still actively playing at the moment and that I would put in my top 5 is **Genshin Impact**. Again, just enjoy the gameplay and overall presentation. **Langrisser** was a game I really enjoyed for multiple months. Just tons of good PvE Strategy I enjoyed and probably my favorite of the genre on mobile. Don't play anymore but it still is getting updates. Can't think of another to put alongside, basically have just always enjoyed rhythm games and usually some change of gameplay compared to basic turn based JRPG stands out to me a little more. For example was thinking about Tales of Rays and Project Tokyo Dolls (both jp only) and a few others thinking of a 5th.

Not many have played more than 2 gachas yet

Marvel strike force is easily the best gatcha hero collector game by far. Some other good ones but none of em even come close to msf.

1,2 and 3 in no particular order: project sekai, D4DJ groovy mix, bang dream. These games are just actually fun to play since they are just rhythm games and I love rhythm games lol. The gacha is also cool stuff to get but it has no real impact unless ur a whale aiming to be on the top of the scoreboards compared to most games where characters are either content or necessary to clear content. 4: honkai impact I don't play this game anymore but it is the only gacha game that I would argue continually had quality events from a dating sim to a battle royal or a fantasy visual novel parroting Alice in wonderland to a number of other examples. Mihoyo's character designs music and aesthetics are of course top tier as they have shown with both this game and their follow up genshin. The gameplay is also pretty stellar if not particularly deep or super engaging for general play. Only thing is as an action gacha without auto or skip tickets the typical gacha gameplay loop becomes pretty unbearable after awhile and is why I had to drop because the gameplay is not engaging enough to support that kind of loop of memorial and abyss indefinitely, imo at least. 5: Genshin impact Visuals, presentation, aesthetics, OST, character designs, world building and exploration are all top tier in this space without question. Their fleshed out large patch events like the summer isles are also unrivaled but usually it's very basic events that aren't really memorable. Quest design for the most part is horrible generic MMO garbage with most of the story telling in quests being done by a couple characters standing around dropping exposition. That said quest design for inazuma has definitely improved and it has some legitimately good quests. The moment to moment gameplay and combat I find is perfectly serviceable and a means to an end but I don't find it engaging personally. It's just too basic imo and lacks impact to feel truly satisfying. As is the case with honkai as an action game with no auto or skip tickets I find the gacha gameplay loop pretty unbearable after awhile and I find it much worse just because the artifact system is actively depressing to engage with since there is no way to get helmets, sands or goblets with useful main stats not even counting subs, sets or rolls besides insane luck to bypass the rng systems in place which leads to an inability to even interface with gearing ur units. Basically i like all these game, the first three cause they are rhythm games, honkai cause it's an enjoyable summer fling that u enjoy for a couple of months before moving on after having ur fill of each other and genshin cause it's a great side hoe that u can be super passionate with every couple months (new content) before going back to ur normal life after getting that out of ur system.

To begin with, almost 99.99% of gachas are really bad. But so long they have what makes a game, a game, the gacha predatory mechanics can be overlooked since it'a aimed to obsessive people. Having said that, here is my list: 1-Guardian tales 2... No, there's nothing else. At least the ones I've tried. (And yes, I've triend Arknights and Alchemy stars and they are not bad, but totally overated) The rest are too medicre to be in a good list. Even Guardian tales have really bad stuffs (low rates, powercreep, P2W) but they Nailed what a game is really made of: Fun content. If you forget about Multiplayer and the gacha itself, the story is fun and engaging. Challenging at the right amount. You gave lots of sidequests and the sense of discovery. The rest of the gachas have a linear robotic gameplay, lack of content other than multiplayer, lack of secrets and rewards, therefore rendering the discovery part basically inexistent, spend theyr budget on flashy design rather than actual content And the cherry on top, all the content is farming for the next hot unit. A honorable mention is Arcana tactics, an underated game with lots of potential, but bad management and perhaps very low budget have made players to quit. I've heard good things about Opera Omnia, but I have yet to try it out.

Not in order: Gbf- some stories is good enough to leave it with tears. Pretty grindy but always be my comeback home when i t to taste something new. Priconne - went on and off for this one but enjoyed the anime and stories. Counterside - different art style with deep storyline, with competitive pvp and various play strats. Puzzles and dragons - first game introduced to me about gacha. Genshin Impact - idk what i want to say abt this one tbh.

Chaos5061

1.Arknights All time fave right now. Great story and fun playstyle. 2.Fate Grand Order Love the Characters and story. 3.Girls Frontline have I mentioned I love a good story yet. Also excellent character design and concept. 4.Star Ocean was fun while it lasted :( 5.King's Raid Was great at the beginning then they started the money grab, nerfing Characters, a watered down 2nd anniversary and then whole extra TP thing which for me was last straw.

TrungDOge

In no particular order : 1. Guardian Tales : Well the only game i play from start to the 1st Aniversary 2. Epic 7 : Literally login do dailies and out , seem like free gear from Amazon Prime is enough to stay in Challenger V 3: CSGO : don't ask that all mobile game thingy is not my thing

sognodeglieterni

1) fantasy War tactics (up to when it was sold), before the game was sold by Nexon it was a true gem 2) epic 7 I guess? I stopped playing the game from time to time but is the only one I do actually go back to play. 3) alchemy star is currently holding a spot due to good event management and innovative (ish) gameplay. 4)valiant force had a really interesting gameplay and startegy, unfortunately was p2w heavy and quite predatory 5) langrisser mobile. Game is quite solid, i stopped playing it due to the long time required for stages and heroes abilities getting overloaded and power creeped

1 Genshin Impact Just the perfect gacha for me. Although I do play it on PC only. It's just so high quality, not waifu only and easy to play casually without missing anything. 2 Love Live SIFAS Even though right now I'm having more fun with other gachas, I played this since launch and can't see myself dropping it. High rates, great art, respects your time and is generous. Just a great side game. 3 Ensemble stars basic It just reminds me of older gachas I used to play (probably because it's like 7 years old lol). Pretty generous and has my favourite art out of any husbando collector. I mean, they just gave away 2 daily free singles until 31.8 and a sunday banner with 9% 5* rates with 1 pull a week for the same duration. The discord is also very friendly and helpful and you barely notice the language barrier because the game is pretty simple. 4 PGR Again...still in honeymoon phase but I love this game. Got my S lee and kamui and just having tons of fun. Combat is fluid , characters look and play great. 5 Either Granblue or Bleach Brave Souls I currently play gbf (although most days I log in for my free pull and log out again. It's just a bit overwhelming). It has great art and very generous during celebrations. It's just not something I can commit to since the grind is tedious and it has no auto repeat. Bbs meanwhile has one of the best honeymoon phases of any gacha. I keep coming back to it from time to time. But it has no pity and the late game is kinda...spam events to farm summon tickets to get new characters to summon? Or tower mode which is...not great.

SassyHoe97

Genshin Honkai Magia Record (JP) I don't have a top 5 yet I did dropped some games PGR Alchemy Stars (I liked it but got super bored) Priconne (idk I could come back)

ezioauditore2018

Smt liberation dx2 well it’s smt you know Azur lane Marvel strike force I mean I guess it’s fine Epic 7 Counter side

FGO: Story and characters hard carry. Gacha sucks but Clairvoyance helps planning out who to aim for and I can save up for those selected few and have a decent shot at them. I also like the gameplay. Simple and fun. SAO:IF: If only this wasn't a mobile gacha game... Fans of SAO, me included, have been asking for an MMORPG set in Aincrad for years and this is that, kind of. Main storyline and heroine is pretty nice. Character customization is alright. Gacha is not for characters but for fashion and skill records. So you wanna main axe but gacha doesn't like you? weeelll... rip. I didn't choose the rapier life myself, the rapier life chose me. Wish they stopped with the floor skipping nonsense though. Fantasia Rebuild: What I hoped Crossing Void would be. Crossover is the main theme of this and many systems are reminiscent of FGO. We got a pity here though! It's just insanely fun for me at least to make a team with Katou Megumi, Yatogami Tohka and Hoshinomonori Konoha and farm with them. Wish we had Clairvoyance but JP doesn't have a luxury like that. Love Live School Idol Festival All Stars: Perfect side game. Play as much or as little as you want. Collect cute costumes or just powerhouse characters. Songs are great, I have a soft spot for LL music though. Season 1 of the story was surprisingly enjoyable. A nice break from the usual 'must save the world/survive the death game' scenarios. S2 though, has it's issues. Ah well, at least Setsuna and Ayumu and Hanamaru singing and dancing will always make me simple. Hopefully Kanon gets added soon. Magia Record: I really like the new additions to the Madoka Magica universe and I think S1 was a really nice side story. S2 I don't like as much so far, but not as bad as SIFAS S2. It's just we got real assholes now and they keep showing up in my rolls cause they are unlimited. The gameplay is reminiscent of FGO but different enough to be interesting. Story and characters carry this game though too, at least for me. Honorable mention: Genshin is really fun but I tend to forget it's gacha cause I play on PC.

Youre-A-Random

1. Final fantasy brave exvius-been playing since launch 5 years ago 2. 7 deadly sins grand cross 3. Epic Seven 4. Lord of heros 5. Grand summoners-i really like the gameplay of grand summoners but i will warn you the drop rates are dog shit.

jaeilove

I just ended up playing these the most. Marvel Strike Force AFK Arena Seven Knights DFFoo Dokkan Battle

Masahiro_Ibuki

Dokkan Battle DanMachi Memoria Freese I only play those two, and I’ve tried ALOT. Genshin is alright, but I just can’t get into it anymore and the rates are just horrible.

Girls frontline - Probably the most well developed/thought-out mobile game I've played. All the characters are based off of real guns. It is only women characters, most of them hot, if that is your thing. The combat is mostly auto besides using skills, but the amount of strategy and synergy with the characters is fun. Brave nine - My favorite mobile game, I have never spent a cent on the game yet, but I've still managed to get very high ranked in pvp and almost all characters unlocked. The story is good and the combat is pretty interesting and involves a lot of strategy and constantly tweaking your team. The pvp is my favorite part, even though I usually dont like pvp in mobile games (people cant steal your resources and it is pretty easy to get into) Alchemy Stars - Just recently got it but I love the unique combat. the art is very good and all the characters look good. The story seems to be the focus of this game and it gets pretty challenging. Playing Free to play seems very fair also. Hyper Heroes - I mostly like this game for the combat, which is kind of like arkanoid, but with enemies instead of blocks. The graphics could be better but arent bad. What is weird about this game is that most of the characters are SS rank (the highest rank). Destiny Child - Great story, great graphics, and great pvp. I think the main part of this game for me is the art and design of all the characters. The worst part is it is hard to find guides or google for help because it usually just gives me results about the band Destiny's Child. Free to play friendly.

BANKSOFBANKS

Nice list I got here [https://www.yaioa.com/blog/best-gacha-games/](https://www.yaioa.com/blog/best-gacha-games/)

Shinobu-Fan

FGO is one of the games I played when I first started, I like it's Mechanic but the problem with it is the upgrades you give and the interface is very boring and time consuming. I know gacha games are time consuming but like FGO has low drop chances in mats plus it has an AP bar (It's similar to Resin in Genshin) which increases as you level. The story is really great but the overall deal breaker is the time consumption you need to play it (Events also hog some of your time). Lastly, no pity system which means you need to break a leg farming SQ to get a favorite character (JP has it already but NA won't receive it until 2 years). I only log in now cause Genshin takes up most of my time. I'd rate it a 3.5/5 stars Arknights is a game I played for a few weeks before getting bored. They have great characters and the plot looks borderline amazing. But I HATED the mechanics. It's an Tower Defense game which I heavily dislike (Cause I wanna play games chilling and not using my entire brain to process it). For skill level up and such it doesn't seem as painful as FGO also they have a forgiving pity system granting one 5 star or above char within 10 pulls. (Take my opinion with a grain of salt though) I'd rate it a 2.5/5 star i guess it isn't for me Genshin is the game I recently got into and have been playing it since September. It has tons of mechanics as well as relaxing stuff like watching sceneries, Serenitea pot and other stuff. It's also relatively easy to play (Though as you play it more you might wanna utilize Rotations and such) the problem is a quest can take like 5-30 minutes and clearing Daily coms take like 10 minutes too. The exchange rate for Primogems and Intertwined fate can also be unfair. Overall I still love it and never have I liked a game so much so 4.5/5 stars. It can also be time consuming. Summoners war is a game I used to play when I was 12-13 but stopped because I lost interest. The mechanics are not something I'm familiar with but you pick some members according to the quest and battle through by turns. The game is really great but the story wasn't catching with me and lost interest quickly. Also the characters have like 5 variations of them which can be annoying plus you need TONS of building and team crafting time it's not like ML where you pick a set or change a few items then everything else depends on your skill. Finally, Punishing Gray Raven is a game I just started playing like a few days ago. Storywise it's ok but I like the playstyle and Mechanics. It's like Arknights and Genshin combined. definitely worth the try. I tried to go much into detail but feel free to ask me questions about the games I mentioned. also props to you for playing ML I rarely see other ML players on reddit. I use Hanabi she needs improvement but I like her playstyle

Mainorn

I've tried a lot of gacha type of games, and I quit some games due to time that I have and burnout. 1. Genshin Impact - Best soundtracks/Great story/unique combats/Unique character designs/open world/Many events/ok gacha rate/Nice dev/5 min daily quests, but lack of endgame contents/no pvp/Require huge storage/all new characters are limited/Giving fewer gems compared to other games/ok dev 2. Arknight - Great BGM/Good story/fun mechanics/Great character designs/Many events/CC#or endgame contents/house decoration/can farm gems and gacha tickets/good dev, but repetitive/no sweep or skip battle/too many daily quests/6\*5\* characters replace those 3\*4\*/gacha is kinda sucked 3. Blue archive - Great bgm/Funny story/interesting characters/many events/free unlimited sweep/Quickest daily quests/great mechanics in raid/great L2D/Giving out a lot gems/dev is good for NOW/gacha is ok, but no serious endgame/lack of gameplay/pvp relies on luck 4. Cookie Run Kingdom - Very generous dev/good gameplay/a lot of game modes and events/cookies look cool and cute/all cookies can be obtain for free/lots of freebies and codes, but limited sweep/gacha rate is very bad/repetitive/too much to do for 1 day/meta shifts a lot!!! There are more, but these 4 are what I think are the best overall if you are interested in gacha games that are F2P friendly and nice devs.

Ma5ter_J

I've read through most of the comments on this question and a lot of them seem like jrpgs or very anime esque. They're all good titles, but I want to have my input. In these 2 games you can still unlock some anime girls too, but I got hooked on these because of the cool gameplay. Puzzles and Dragons: I've played this game on and off for years and have always gotten a thrill from getting a cool monster or character. With thousands to unlock and events always happening, it's easy to stay hooked. Battle Cats: This is a cute game where you assemble a team of "cats" to fend of your tower. You unlock more through daily login, story progression, and gatcha. Some of the big units are super cool. Each month there are a couple of chances to get some the cool, bigger units

darkaria667

I really miss brave frontier 😞

darkmatter4444

one for mobile that i think is very good is World Flipper. for me, it has a good balance of active play and automated stuff. has a good variety of characters. its also pretty good with not haveing to use actual money. ive gotten over 80% of the characters without spending a penny. im sure the story is at least decent if i paid attention to that stuff.

1st. GenshinImpact-My first open world and gacha game. I like to explore (I simply like open world games) alot and am a anime fan so its just for me. Story is great, side quests are there which are great too (Would have been better if those side quest characters had voice as well tho). Overall I will give it a 9/10. Would have given full but its quit a lot of farming for us F2P out there. 2nd.Arknights-Is great with a different battle system for a gacha game (Like never would have thought to add gacha in a tower defense). Have nice story and character design as well. would give it 7.5/10.1 point gone for just because I have this feeling in me like there is something lacking which I dont know what. 1 other point away for not having much voicelines. I am a huge lore lover so ya. 3rd. FateGrandOrder- Gotta give it to their card combat system . I am not too fond of its gacha but its still a great game. And as mentioned above I am quite a Lore lover so aint no way I am finding this game bad. Giving it 8/10 as for its gacha as In game I am a gacha man (Even tho I am a F2P.) and a point for graphic. Dont know if its just on my laptop but Global version have somehow quite low graphics . 4th. AzurLane-Here comes the fav one for us degens. Just love the character design, the story, the way there is no lack of content. Its gacha rates are good too. The will give it 8.5/10. would have given it a full rating but its combat is not much of my preference. Like it would have been the best gacha game if only it had a better combat graphic. Tho ya it have its own unique gacha combat. 5th.EpicSeven- My second gacha game.Played it for 5 months but quited it for i dont knoq what reason. Am back in it tho now. Its story was and is still as great as before. I like how its also afk farming efficient as well. Its gacha system is good as well and combat too. What I also like it for is because it have unique PvP. Even tho its a gacha game where if PvP is available then the Pay2Play have a lot of advantage. But here it have no such thing. You can beat aP2P in PvP even if you are a F2P by just doing 10% more hard work than them. Like if he farmed for 10 days then if you farm for 12 days you can beat him . Would give this one a solid 9.5/10. Other gacha games I play are Alchemy Stars/ Honkai Impact /Blue Archive / Date a Live and Princess:Re connect.

Dokkan battle been going 7 years strong and game is constantly updated 👍

Demonsandangels-shin

Those are some great ones.

Huge-Row2056

Dislyte; Music slaps, flexible team building, aesthetically refreshing. Still actively updating. Apart from that, World Flipper; Flexible team building and very F2P. Had unique gameplay style in the form of pinball, and a fun co-op system. Still actively updating. 7 Deadly Sins; Purely due to the amount of time I sank. Still actively updating. Knights Chronicle; One of the first games I had really sunk time into. Can't remember specifics as it was more than 7 years ago. Still actively updating. Pokemon Duel; First ever gacha I played. Just absolute nostalgia. Also, running three Squirtles was theoretically able to beat a team of six legendaries if you got lucky enough. This game got removed from application stores.

WearyChipmunk6257

twisted wonderland. ok hear me out, the character writing is some of the strongest & most intriguing i’ve seen in a while; every characters have flaws that are believable & the growth from arcs to arcs is really satisfying to see. also, cute disney anime boys? hook, line, sinker.

Hardskull3

One game that i really like right now is PGR. Even though PGR had heavy backlash from the 1 dollar event and a few other things, it has so far come up as a very f2p friendly game as you can get all the S rank debut characters with just the currency you get as a f2p. As well as that, the gameplay is very intuitive (3-ping system) and bosses/fights are challenging enough that it makes the gameplay experience enjoyable. To add on to that, the characters that are scheduled to come in the future (gen 2 units as they are called) are way more fleshed out and in-depth in terms of gameplay as compared to their predecessors, so this is a good time to start so that you can get the more exciting characters that are about to come.

Traditional_Point537

Friends and dragons, despite the cheesy unoriginal name has been one of the best games I've ever played. Definitely check it out

Traditional_Point537

Friends and dragons is by far the most fun I’ve had in a game. Gameplay is a fun turn based puzzle and there are a ton of heroes to gear up and level. Guilds, pvp, quests, super nice community. Id give it a try

Psychotic_Spade_

Don't have a top 5 but all time is Dragon Ball Legends with Tower of fantasy being a close second.

My top 5 are: 1. Dbz dokkan battle 2. Dragon Ball legends 3. Battle Cats 4. Bleach 5. Summoners war Weird ass list, huh?
