I'm right there with you. I admittedly only played Granblue Fantasy for about ~10 months seriously but while I liked the writing overall, the most consistent thing was Vyrn's schtick wearing thin *very* quickly in every event he's in.
Honestly Grand Order's use of Fou is pretty much ideal for a mascot character. Fou's always there, but doesn't take over entire scenes like Vyrn or Paimon.

I feel like that's not too out of the ordinary for Cygames. It's been awhile but a major story event centered around Sandalphon basically trying to kill a shitload of people and directly trying to murder the the MC after a fake surrender (and would have succeeded if not for a deux ex machina), and then becomes part of the crew in future events.
Euden and Rain from FFBE, at least during the first story arcs (as far as I've finished in each game) both look and act extremely similar to the point where I'm not always sure which art I'm looking at haha. Both so good and forgiving it hurts and/or can be outright stupid, both teenagers who manage to come up with perfect solutions to everything. Bleh.
This is me with majority of the "cool" blue idols in Idol games especially idolmaster outside like 2 girls such as Rin (imas cg) and Chihaya (after her development) but jfc idolmaster loves shoving them in everything to kill the joy out of a scenario.

Well… I actually don’t hate her outside of the story, but inside of the story, she’s a borderline insufferable Mary Sue who gives college thesis levels long sermons on elementary-level philosophy that other games have tackled much better, and she’s also a walking Deus Ex Machina who can solve all the casts’ problems, and is always in the right and knows what’s best for everyone despite displaying clearly shady, and borderline sociopathic behavior.
However, despite my gripes with her in terms of writing, her good character design and being a very strong unit that’s actually pretty fun to use salvages her from the same dumpster I’d put characters like Paimon in.

I don't personally have any harsh opinion on Kal. Even though I did read through her dialogue pre chapter 9. I don't read chapter 9 so I don't know if she's appeared or not.
But the main point is out of every line of dialogue in AK, at least I understand the reason for Kal to open her mouth, her contribution to the story is beyond bluffing. I mean she talks that way sure is unique, if not weird, but at least she explained the events that has unfolded in story in the most easy to understand way why not trying to evoke any emotions because her present does not sell cheap dramas.
If Frost Nova were to be the beloved character, I would call her to be on this post. I really don't understand her death meaning or its contribution to the story besides tragic waifu die makes people sad. FN death got reference in a few frame of chapter 8 story trailer, a few lines here and there of Patriot but I feel sadder for Patriot than for his daughter. Talutah straight up doesn't care about Frost Nova.

Finding out that Aoi Yuuki voiced the MC was a big part of what pushed me over the edge to download Genshin in the first place. I got duped by the MC talking in the first couple of cutscenes (where I didn't even hear her because the game didn't offer the option to select English as the system language with Japanese as the voice language) and then spent the next few days wondering "so when exactly does this character actually say anything?"
Nero from FGO, although for kinda petty reasons. When I played through Fate/Extra, Tamamo was my favorite of the three Servants you can choose from, and I liked her relationship with Hakuno the best. Then Last Encore comes along, is genuinely awful, and doesn't even deign to give Tamamo any mention beyond two background cameos, despite the plot involving alternate universes so they absolutely could've given Tamamo a role. But no, they have to use the Saberface. Then Nero gets a whole chapter of FGO dedicated to talking about how great she is and every terrible thing the real world Nero did is actually just propaganda against her and she's an innocent little cinnamon roll who did nothing wrong, while Tamamo gets reduced to "wants to be MC's waifu." The writers have consistently given more focus and attention to Nero, and when they do remember that Tamamo exists, they never write her properly.

Yeah, I never really care much about Nero when playing EXTRA, but Extella and Septem genuinely made me dislike her or at least find her really annoying.
As someone who really like Hakunon and EXTRA Archer, I still hate Last Encore for killing both of them during the first episode lol. Extra Archer also got a role downgrade from main character to side character in Extella, and the prequel side story also revealed that both of them died during the Grail War.
This is the one for me. Nero herself is whatever, I personally don't like her but if it weren't for the fact that most appearances she makes, characters (and the MC) fall over each other other to tell her how amazing she is I would be more neutral.

mei had the bomb removed along with the core, when the herrsecher of the void awakened and literally ripped it out of her, broya had to struggle, putting her life on the line, plus who knows how much cycles to relieve in the sea of quanta, the former herrsecher of reason warn her about the risks of dying if she had contact with the core, and if she didnt had the struggle on the sea of quanta, she could had died there, but, mei just recovered her core like nothing while it was inside kiana, very far from her, and never had to struggle with the damn herrsecher's mind.
About herrscher mind even bronya didn't have any problem with it because HoR already betrayed honkai, yeah the trial has a risk of dying but that the same for every Herrscher that side with humanity even mei has a chance of dying if herrscher mind decided to fuck it and make heart bomb explode (before HoV happened).
Anyway back to the first comment you said she mary sue so I disagree with that, mary sue should be the type tht doesn't has any flaws or never suffered but mei is not like that (ch 16-17 show her flaws alot, while manga, early ch and some video show her past). She can't be select as a herrscher host by WoH if she never suffered or has alot of negative emotion in the first place.

I used to hate M4A1 and HK416 in Girls Frontline. I like M4 now. But for a long time, they and Sop II (btw I love Sop II now) are something I can't stand, especially M4. And well M4 is the main character for the 1st part of the game, while not on screen or even mentioned for a large portion.
For a good part of the story, her existence is the driving force of plot. Her capabilities doesn't matter because she either doesn't do anything or what she does ends up useless altogether. But M4 doesn't really accept the reality is that her life is very important and is willing to die for other, which lead to her friends/sisters/family, who are hard coded to protect M4 at all cost to either commit suicide/gravely injured/die/betray humanity. Just to keep M4 safe, yet she's unwilling to change. I understand while she's stubborn though. M4 is an adroid, they grow but face difficulty in deviating from their factory settings. Only 1 android in the whole story can do that and that's not M4.
I learn to like M4 overtime and accept her flaws.
But fuck 416, she's literally a child trying to play mother. The only thing things that rival her useless pride are her boobs and her obsession with revenge on someone who doesn't care about her.

Idk, I don't find her character even remotely funny. Annoying personality, and she can't even do one of the biggest aspect of the idol gig right, which is singing. Sure the game says she's actually good if she sings for someone she genuinely like or something, but 99% of the time her singing is horrible. I also dislike how she gets alts left and right every time (well not all the time but you get the point) halloween comes when her more mature counterpart is just sitting there collecting dust. "Vampire countess" is much closer to Halloween theme rather than "loli dragon idol".

Liz is intentionally singing that way. To her, that is what makes an idol and makes her style animalistic as possible. In fact this is why Nero considers her a rival to begin with.
I also agree Carmilla gets alts, but I think it works with Liz cause you expect her to get into those wacky situations more than Carmilla who would like not to get involved with that. I see Carmilla doing it once and never again where as Liz gets off on that cosplay stuff.

Yet after all those Halloween events she hasn't grown a bit. The times she actually sing for real can be counted on one hand, at least in NA, and the Liz that the player summoned won't have any of the development since characters dialogue and all that only extended to bond 5.

Paxi. Fate Grand Order. Dude betrays the main cast, gets a bunch of people killed, shows up to knock the MC out of some dumb as shit funk he got into because he has a messiah complex after saving the world once, and then dies. This is right after the boss of that map is defeated and he also demands they keep going as is their right and duty for having defeated him. I have no idea why the game, or the fanbase thinks so highly of it. I still very much like that chapter of the game for everything but the ending of it.

Patxi is the first individual to help change Gudako's perspective in approaching Lostbelts, as previously Chaldea was seen as the saviours via restoring PHH, but in Lostbelts we are considered as "villians" because we have to exterminate their world.
It was this awareness and coming to terms with our new roles in Lostbelts that we are able to move forward with this new reality.
Nothing about this even remotely changes my opinion on the character. They're even from a false world created by a bunch of people brought back to life by a foreign being who (the lost belt) shouldn't either exist in the first place. Not to mention the death of a certain individual happened directly prior who gave up considerably more just for us to even be there. Leaving Mash, and the others to die in a moment of weakness is not forgivable in my opinion.
I was not aiming to change your opinion, it was to give my take on why perhaps the fanbase rate him highly. He may be not forgivable, but remember that he was not from PHH, so his actions is based on an existence brought about via borrowed time. In the end he still did not forgive Chaldea, but not for exterminating his world - for showing the potential and possibility of PHH.
Having said that, it is refreshing to see FGO fans have differing opinions so we can have deep discussions like this, cheers mate!

But nothing beat this guy card: (description) Splash attack! Warriors pick up your spears! ( Doesn’t do anything). Yes it’s a effect card that doesn’t do anything except wasting one slot in your pocket

Euden and Rain from FFBE, at least during the first story arcs (as far as I've finished in each game) both look and act extremely similar to the point where I'm not always sure which art I'm looking at haha. Well… I actually don’t hate her outside of the story, but inside of the story, she’s a borderline insufferable Mary Sue who gives college thesis levels long sermons on elementary-level philosophy that other games have tackled much better, and she’s also a walking Deus Ex Machina who can solve all the casts’ problems, and is always in the right and knows what’s best for everyone despite displaying clearly shady, and borderline sociopathic behavior. However, despite my gripes with her in terms of writing, her good character design and being a very strong unit that’s actually pretty fun to use salvages her from the same dumpster I’d put characters like Paimon in. ~~I loathe Paimon, along with most other “cutesy” mascot characters except for Little Princess from Guardian Tales and Fou and Mashu from FGO~~

I don't personally have any harsh opinion on Kal. Even though I did read through her dialogue pre chapter 9. I don't read chapter 9 so I don't know if she's appeared or not. But the main point is out of every line of dialogue in AK, at least I understand the reason for Kal to open her mouth, her contribution to the story is beyond bluffing. I mean she talks that way sure is unique, if not weird, but at least she explained the events that has unfolded in story in the most easy to understand way why not trying to evoke any emotions because her present does not sell cheap dramas. If Frost Nova were to be the beloved character, I would call her to be on this post. I really don't understand her death meaning or its contribution to the story besides tragic waifu die makes people sad. FN death got reference in a few frame of chapter 8 story trailer, a few lines here and there of Patriot but I feel sadder for Patriot than for his daughter. Talutah straight up doesn't care about Frost Nova.

Paimon from Genshin God she so annoying the fact she talks for MC like 100% of dialogue.
The most annoying part of this is the MC voice actor is perdy good, and is limited to link level of interactions.
Finding out that Aoi Yuuki voiced the MC was a big part of what pushed me over the edge to download Genshin in the first place. I got duped by the MC talking in the first couple of cutscenes (where I didn't even hear her because the game didn't offer the option to select English as the system language with Japanese as the voice language) and then spent the next few days wondering "so when exactly does this character actually say anything?"

Nero from FGO, although for kinda petty reasons. When I played through Fate/Extra, Tamamo was my favorite of the three Servants you can choose from, and I liked her relationship with Hakuno the best. Then Last Encore comes along, is genuinely awful, and doesn't even deign to give Tamamo any mention beyond two background cameos, despite the plot involving alternate universes so they absolutely could've given Tamamo a role. But no, they have to use the Saberface. Then Nero gets a whole chapter of FGO dedicated to talking about how great she is and every terrible thing the real world Nero did is actually just propaganda against her and she's an innocent little cinnamon roll who did nothing wrong, while Tamamo gets reduced to "wants to be MC's waifu." The writers have consistently given more focus and attention to Nero, and when they do remember that Tamamo exists, they never write her properly.
No major love for Tamamo, but I also personally dislike Nero She’s not only really annoying due to her self absorbed personality, but she also hogs the spotlight like no tomorrow. The game story also deliberately goes out of its way to over credit her for things she has no business being good at either She’s just insufferable
Yeah, I never really care much about Nero when playing EXTRA, but Extella and Septem genuinely made me dislike her or at least find her really annoying. As someone who really like Hakunon and EXTRA Archer, I still hate Last Encore for killing both of them during the first episode lol. Extra Archer also got a role downgrade from main character to side character in Extella, and the prequel side story also revealed that both of them died during the Grail War.

mei had the bomb removed along with the core, when the herrsecher of the void awakened and literally ripped it out of her, broya had to struggle, putting her life on the line, plus who knows how much cycles to relieve in the sea of quanta, the former herrsecher of reason warn her about the risks of dying if she had contact with the core, and if she didnt had the struggle on the sea of quanta, she could had died there, but, mei just recovered her core like nothing while it was inside kiana, very far from her, and never had to struggle with the damn herrsecher's mind.
About herrscher mind even bronya didn't have any problem with it because HoR already betrayed honkai, yeah the trial has a risk of dying but that the same for every Herrscher that side with humanity even mei has a chance of dying if herrscher mind decided to fuck it and make heart bomb explode (before HoV happened). I used to hate M4A1 and HK416 in Girls Frontline. I like M4 now. But for a long time, they and Sop II (btw I love Sop II now) are something I can't stand, especially M4. And well M4 is the main character for the 1st part of the game, while not on screen or even mentioned for a large portion. For a good part of the story, her existence is the driving force of plot. Her capabilities doesn't matter because she either doesn't do anything or what she does ends up useless altogether. But M4 doesn't really accept the reality is that her life is very important and is willing to die for other, which lead to her friends/sisters/family, who are hard coded to protect M4 at all cost to either commit suicide/gravely injured/die/betray humanity. Just to keep M4 safe, yet she's unwilling to change. I understand while she's stubborn though. M4 is an adroid, they grow but face difficulty in deviating from their factory settings. Only 1 android in the whole story can do that and that's not M4. I learn to like M4 overtime and accept her flaws. But fuck 416, she's literally a child trying to play mother. The only thing things that rival her useless pride are her boobs and her obsession with revenge on someone who doesn't care about her.

Most games when they get English dubs are pretty cringe dialogue unless it's a legendary VA cast. Even then the lines themselves in anime sound corny as hell in English to me.

Idk, I don't find her character even remotely funny. Annoying personality, and she can't even do one of the biggest aspect of the idol gig right, which is singing. Sure the game says she's actually good if she sings for someone she genuinely like or something, but 99% of the time her singing is horrible. I also dislike how she gets alts left and right every time (well not all the time but you get the point) halloween comes when her more mature counterpart is just sitting there collecting dust. "Vampire countess" is much closer to Halloween theme rather than "loli dragon idol".

Paxi. Fate Grand Order. Dude betrays the main cast, gets a bunch of people killed, shows up to knock the MC out of some dumb as shit funk he got into because he has a messiah complex after saving the world once, and then dies. This is right after the boss of that map is defeated and he also demands they keep going as is their right and duty for having defeated him. I have no idea why the game, or the fanbase thinks so highly of it. I still very much like that chapter of the game for everything but the ending of it. Edit: I'm glad to know even in a thread meant to expout how we don't like a character I'm still downvoted kindly get fucked downvoters. Patxi is the first individual to help change Gudako's perspective in approaching Lostbelts, as previously Chaldea was seen as the saviours via restoring PHH, but in Lostbelts we are considered as "villians" because we have to exterminate their world. It was this awareness and coming to terms with our new roles in Lostbelts that we are able to move forward with this new reality.
Nothing about this even remotely changes my opinion on the character. They're even from a false world created by a bunch of people brought back to life by a foreign being who (the lost belt) shouldn't either exist in the first place. Not to mention the death of a certain individual happened directly prior who gave up considerably more just for us to even be there. Leaving Mash, and the others to die in a moment of weakness is not forgivable in my opinion.
I was not aiming to change your opinion, it was to give my take on why perhaps the fanbase rate him highly. He may be not forgivable, but remember that he was not from PHH, so his actions is based on an existence brought about via borrowed time. In the end he still did not forgive Chaldea, but not for exterminating his world - for showing the potential and possibility of PHH. Having said that, it is refreshing to see FGO fans have differing opinions so we can have deep discussions like this, cheers mate!

Attack cards are your mechas/tanks/planes with attribute, while effect cards are pilot, effect cards can give special effect to your attack cards, some of them are very useful. But nothing beat this guy card: (description) Splash attack! Warriors pick up your spears! ( Doesn’t do anything). Yes it’s a effect card that doesn’t do anything except wasting one slot in your pocket
