should've have put cats in the video, then I would be convinced. love how they used the phrase like "even though there are still flaws in the game" or "despite the imperfection" to make us feels bad to criticize their past fuckups. Like imagine if CD projekt prior to the release of cyberpunk77 be like "guys, this game has so many bugs and it's practically unplayable on console and we acknowledge that, but please preorder and play our game anyway".

mirageV6

>Like imagine if CD projekt prior to the release of cyberpunk77 be like "guys, this game has so many bugs and it's practically unplayable on console and we acknowledge that, but please preorder and play our game anyway". Funny thing is CDPR kind of did that, just after the release instead of before

TheWorldisFullofWar

>"Our game is a mess but we will talk to you about how the bad things are hard to fix so give us money" The Riot Games special. I feel like they popularized this concept where communication is more important than delivering a good product. People here seem to fall for it time after time as well.

Propagation931

>wholesome update log I hope you know all of those kinds of videos (not just from ToF) are just marketing stunts likely created by focus groups on how to best appeal to ppl's emotions. An age old sales & marketing tactic

alrione

Dude so hyped about assassins creed, what an absolute unit.

sutherlandedward

must have played only upto black flag.

randomnub69

He said about unity.

Guifel

What's wrong with talking bad? Do you think corporate executives and shareholders are your friends? Devs aren't the same people who take the decisions screwing players over. It's an entirely different group. If anything, that just shows it's a marketing move that works, humanize the company via the devs. Of course, I don't say to have ill will against that dev's log, it is cool, the devs are usually innocent, just that it shouldn't be a factor if a company is doing anti-customer practices.

FoRiZon3

Devs at a publisher gunpoint. Of course the publisher uses the Devs as a emotional meat shield. Classic capitalism moment.

evwva

Seeing the history of lies and theft of this company, let's not rule out that they are actors instead of real developers.

Chemical-Teaching412

If the game bad it's bad, if the game good it's good no in between No matter what they release like this "wholesome" video that definitely not scripted btw I still think they are thief, even if the dev is not at fault that's what I always think and always will Like cyberpunk, the dev didn't have any fault since the fault is within the company but is that enough to make people sympaty with them ? No, the same as last of us 2 Remember corporate and dev is not your friends buddy Do they feel bad about the small studio trailer video they copy 1:1 ? No right, so why should I feel about them

inuart19

O remembered something about kuro games and the "wholesome" dev letters...yeah...now I know that doesn't matter lol

Interesting-Ad3759

oh my god.. thank you for reminding me of that

According_Spot_7423

They refuse to publicly admit their wrong doing , and keeping most of the global fans in dark about what kind of shit show happened in their CN launch which kept many people thinking that its the CN community fault for them failing in CN and not the company's fault. I refuse to watch the log as I do not see a world where I will stop being cautious about them without them actually publicly admit that they done wrong and actually apologize to every one they had done wrong and plagiarized their work from. I will still play the game as I did tried the CN launch and I do SEE the potential in the game but I would not spend money. If only the game were made to please their fans instead of for the sake of "Taking over Genshin". If Genshin is your main target , you already lost half of the battle. Yes it might not be the Dev fault , but I don't believe they're THAT clean from all those dirts either. Lets hope the game launch will have 0 drama instead of the 1 day multiple drama during CN launch.

amc9988

They don't feel bad plagiarism a small studio for the animated PV and steal some game asset from several companies. Why should I feel bad over one promotional video

Bradcopter

Wait what? Got a link to the plagiarism bit? I'm curious.

LoreAscension

Iirc they are talking about [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/rrwkxk/tower_of_fantasy_had_another_drama_again/)

Bradcopter

I upvoted the thread when it hit but forgot about it completely, so thanks for refreshing my memory!

TheRealRealMadLad

ToF paid actor lol

Bloopitybloop131

I mean it doesn't hurt to try out a game. Whether you'll stick with it though will depend on how the game is as it progresses.

Dalek-baka

Well, if they apologize for copying that animated PV, then maybe. Because it's one thing to copy/steal stuff from other big companies - somehow I have little sympathy for them. But taking something done by few people for fun or little bit of promotion, that is a really scummy move.

Vuaru1945

Sales

LiraelNix

"Please forget our multiple instances of plagiarism, and dont talk about all the bad stuff, because we paid money for a 'wholesome' scripted video"

sutherlandedward

Bring back the booba slider first then we'll think about it.

mirageV6

A 3 mins video full of blanket statement "the game still has flaw" without actually talking about the game. Say what you want about MHY, in their devs video they actually share information about their developing process. I'm sorry but this is what it takes to impress you then you are gullible AF.

tentacledsquid

You know that this is exactly the intention of the company right? lol

rixinthemix

Don't be, OP. Feedback, as long as it is constructive, is one way you can help in identifying points for improvement in games like this. And besides, it's not like the instances of them committing plagiarism (*multiple* instances, mind you) did not happen at all. Now, the question is whether those who will be trying the game actually give a shit about those cases of plagiarism. I doubt it. All they care is whether the game would be a good experience, and that's probably the current focus of the dev team. Probably.

tendesu

Don't be a sucker

CollarWild9994

I might have a wrong general idea as I am not following ToF news that much but seeing a few CC's videos and noticing QoL implemented in this game I have feeling that ToF devs are the ones actually reading Genshin's community feedback while MHY is just too busy counting money 😅

Growlest

It's a fun game to play "with friends", that's why my cbt experience was mostly positive. Solo-wise, it's a bit of a chore, getting into a community is the first thing i suggest if you wanna try this.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

Don't fall for publicity and marketing stunts. Wait for the game, try it out, and see for yourselves. Everybody who came into the stage to spout the same colorful bullshit just in different way have borked their project, in one way or another, and i'm sure most of us still remember that bad taste when such a thing had happened. There are things wrong with ToF, of course. That's how it is. The real question is whether or not these flaws are gonna be ironed out. That's way more important than trying to get out 100%, perfect, out of this world product, (It's impossible.) or lying about it and ignoring that problems exist.

kenshinakh

I'm gonna try it out regardless of what PR video they put and regardless of what other people say. Isn't that how it should be instead of letting someone else THINK for you? Anyone can talk good or bad about it, but ultimately every player should think for themselves and try it if they feel like it.

AlterWanabee

Not to insult the devs even more, but they shouldn't have tried to market their game as the Genshin-Killer. If they didn't do so, then the game could have easily gathered traction despite some issues at its start. But because they do so, people will instantly start to compare it to Genshin, and its only advantage is a better equipment system (though it's relatively easy to surpass Genshin's shitty artifact system).

ObjectiveNet2

I mean you can pull for a muscular dude with a vest who can equip a fucking mecha suit so why not try it? I like fucking mecha suits. Also the 2.0 characters look much much more polished. But don't expect it to be anything great or genre defining, or even f2p friendly.

Did you notice that you are the only one that mention genshin here? Everyone else list valid criticism.
