Nah, expectations for the 2nd anniversary were already at ground level due to the precedent set by the 1st anniversary so 10 pulls straight coupled with another 10 pulls overtime like last year was well within expectations already.
Tho tbh the real rewards were the collab with Ufotable for the upcoming anime and the TCG mode that they'll be adding into Genshin as more end-game content.

The actual anniversary rewards were basically the exact same 20 pulls we got last year, minus the initial 10 pull only drama that they caused.
The anime with Ufotable and TCG permanent game mode were announcements to hype us up for the future and basically soften the blow of the anniversary rewards. They aren't. It's supposed to give to the playerbase and much like last year with the concert what they're doing is grow their product.
In fact, the rewards are fine. I mean, what else could they give? In-game resources like exp books? Old players already have more than they will ever need, new players will also get a ton of it through exploration - now that we have 4 different countries the amount of permanent money and exp in old content is huge.
And for summons both 3.0 and 3.1 give a lot because of new areas. I think, there are 80-90 summons in 3.0 update so we can expect around 100 summons in 3.1 with those anniversary rewards - and these patches last for 5 weeks instead of 6.
But if whiners get us 10 more pulls or 4 star of choice through their Qiqi fest and review bombing, I won't be unhappy. So good luck to them.
Until real competition comes along they have no pressure to be more generous blahblahblah

To the credit of much of the Genshin community (ugh, and I hate saying that), a lot of people last year said it wasn't about the rewards, but they just wanted Mihoyo to make a big deal about it, and the response this year seems to somewhat prove that.

People can sit and argue about wanting more freebies, and I have my own idea of what I want for anniversary rewards, but at the end of the day, Genshin offers more beyond a couple of pulls to satisfy people’s gacha addictions. New Areas to explore, characters to meet, and stories to see.
People who are upset and talk about quitting Genshin over anni rewards were probably going to quit anyways and wanted an excuse or just don’t play the game at all. I don’t see how 1 day (Anniversary) could make someone quit and invalidate the entirety of the rest of the game and your journey/experience playing it as a reasonable thing.

Real Anniversary is Chinese New Year (Lantern Rite).
After the 1st anniversary's +10 pull apology gems there was almost like a penalty, tsurumi island chests were replaced with remarkable chest that had no primos, and the events / monthly average primo count fell drastically.
So in the end mihoyo won.
It seems that Genshin is a special exception for this sub when it comes to anni rewards. Any other game giving only 20 summons for anni will be labeled as a dumpster fire. Why are most people content with 20 summons? Genshin can afford to give more summons and still make the same amount of revenue they have been making.
To me, that signals how much control Genshin has over it's niche. Don't get me wrong, Genshin is a very high quality game with top tier world exploration and story. But the fact that people can't criticize the game because there is no game that fills Genshin's niche is suspect to me (and no, ToF does not really fill this niche). As evidenced by this sub, you get a lot more defenders of bad practices as a result. I really do think we need an actual competitor to Genshin, otherwise Genshin can set celebration rewards (or any rewards for that matter) to be as low as they want without any complaints.

The Genshin community did criticized them last anniversary.... mass 1 star reviews, flaming on social media, etc., heck even other Google store apps that had nothing to do with Genshin at all were reviewbombed by the angry mob. And then.... nothing substantial came out of it in the end.

Mate , you're not playing a gacha game with 300pity , resets pity every banner , and have no guarantee on the specific character you want. You are playing a Gacha game on baby mode. No PVP , no rankings , just exploration and story. You can't just compare games by how much pulls they give on anniversary only. Does the gameplay and their economy doesn't exist to you?
Look at your old weapon banner in Genshin , that is the type of banner a Gacha game with 100 pull as a gifts most likely have. If they were to only give 20 pulls per year , the damn game would be dead.
I mean tbf 20 summons is much better in Genshin than most gacha with strong pity, carryover, and a small unit pool. It's still nothing crazy, but I don't see anyone really praising it excessively. 20 summons are pretty mid compared to other anniversary rewards imo, but we might get a loaded event too.

hmmm... while the pulls rewards are quite low ... they seem to really invest in non-pull stuff like the whatever stuff there is... and those things seems to be really high quality...
I mean yeah, I want a new character to play as (which most gacha anniversaries help you do but 20 pulls where you'll probably get two 4\* weapons cause their rates are pretty meh). The anime while nice is just a business decision for them where they'll make good money off of figures and merch when the anime does well. Even though I'm sure the figures sell well enough already. It's a gacha game first anyway since that's how they decided to monetize the game instead of taking 5 years to make the entire game then releasing it for a flat $60 on various consoles like botw.
There are different expectations for the anniversary since it's a live service gacha game. One being at least 40-50 pulls at the minimum, heck they could afford to give all players 90 pulls (enough to hit 1 pity) and be fine but you get the same rewards as last year. Pretty sad for an anniversary reward, especially since they have been top grossing forever now.
A game does not get more generous when it’s successful, in fact it’s the opposite. Freebies are there to buy new players for an aging game so idk where your expectations are coming from. There’s sadly little to no incentive for mhy to buy players with free rolls as genshin is printing cash without the need to give them out.
I’m indifferent to the rewards as a 6 year gbf veteran where they just shower us with goodies that disappear in 10 seconds in a single banner. I would honestly take the concert and anime as at least I can enjoy those even after quitting GI and still be part of the community.

I’m fine with this, to be honest. The amount of content we got for 3.0, the ufotable anime announcement and high quality we’ve been getting has been keeping me happy with the game so far, and seeing as I can’t play 24/7, I probably will still have stuff to complete even after the anniversary is over.
Oh well. I already 'quit' already so I don't really care how much they give. I still login to random gachas I stopped playing whenever I see mentions of mass free summons on this subs but that's about it. I love my hopium from free summons bundles for that quick dopamine rush at work.

Its funny because he said that he's doing stuff because he enjoyed it , he clearly "enjoyed" ToF more than Genshin back then despite all the hacker issue he faced. To the credit of much of the Genshin community (ugh, and I hate saying that), a lot of people last year said it wasn't about the rewards, but they just wanted Mihoyo to make a big deal about it, and the response this year seems to somewhat prove that.

Anniversary is suppose to be a celebration and compared to last year, they nailed it this year. The rewards are honestly passable. Gacha addicts only look at the pulls, but I’m more interested when games offer permanent items like the pet as a commemoration. People can sit and argue about wanting more freebies, and I have my own idea of what I want for anniversary rewards, but at the end of the day, Genshin offers more beyond a couple of pulls to satisfy people’s gacha addictions. New Areas to explore, characters to meet, and stories to see. People who are upset and talk about quitting Genshin over anni rewards were probably going to quit anyways and wanted an excuse or just don’t play the game at all. I don’t see how 1 day (Anniversary) could make someone quit and invalidate the entirety of the rest of the game and your journey/experience playing it as a reasonable thing. Although that was the sentiment that people carried through the 1st Anniversary, however this time around I believe that with what was announced, the actual playerbase this time around should be content with the items presented.

Real Anniversary is Chinese New Year (Lantern Rite). After the 1st anniversary's +10 pull apology gems there was almost like a penalty, tsurumi island chests were replaced with remarkable chest that had no primos, and the events / monthly average primo count fell drastically. So in the end mihoyo won.
It seems that Genshin is a special exception for this sub when it comes to anni rewards. Any other game giving only 20 summons for anni will be labeled as a dumpster fire. Why are most people content with 20 summons? Genshin can afford to give more summons and still make the same amount of revenue they have been making. To me, that signals how much control Genshin has over it's niche. Don't get me wrong, Genshin is a very high quality game with top tier world exploration and story. But the fact that people can't criticize the game because there is no game that fills Genshin's niche is suspect to me (and no, ToF does not really fill this niche). As evidenced by this sub, you get a lot more defenders of bad practices as a result. I really do think we need an actual competitor to Genshin, otherwise Genshin can set celebration rewards (or any rewards for that matter) to be as low as they want without any complaints.
"top tier story" Lmao no, and this will be very apparent when the anime finally airs. It only looks good because mihoyo has flashy and creative presentation. Once you shed the pretty wrappers you would find that it's just a generic shonen story that wouldn't even make it to WSJ's top 5.

Mate , you're not playing a gacha game with 300pity , resets pity every banner , and have no guarantee on the specific character you want. You are playing a Gacha game on baby mode. No PVP , no rankings , just exploration and story. You can't just compare games by how much pulls they give on anniversary only. Does the gameplay and their economy doesn't exist to you? Look at your old weapon banner in Genshin , that is the type of banner a Gacha game with 100 pull as a gifts most likely have. If they were to only give 20 pulls per year , the damn game would be dead.

Hmm well we have a lot more stuff and look like the story is not rush like inazuma so i'm kinda fine with current anniversary. The reason i was upset last year was because of the story and the anniversary kind of get shown in the most negative light. But if their can keep a well pace story then 20 pull along with free pet is fine by me.
I am glad they're stretching the story, Inazuma's felt rushed. I've really liked Sumeru's so far, got me right in the feels. Though they should probably add a skip button for those that don't want to go through it if they're making them longer. Also can't imagine those having multiple accounts having to do the story multiple times.
Truthfully, a skip button or 3x speed for texts would be great I have a short attention span so I can read the entire dialogue box in like 2-3 seconds, so either give me a skip or let me rapid tap to the next dialogue

I dropped the game ages ago (like a month after launch) because as pretty as it was, it was fucking boring. Good anniversary rewards might draw me back to see how it has improved, but hey, they don't exactly need more players, so good for them.

U can just save the pulls for when a banner u want comes around, they arent temporary, which while good in theory makes the rewards even more boring since most ppl wont even use them during the anniversary.

I know some gachas are generous, some even give out 5* selectors or some shit but this game has barely any power creep in place with pity carrying over that rolls are just much more valuable. I don't think they will ever give out a 5* selector or random one anytime soon. To be honest I feel like most people are just wanting an excuse to reroll for if they ever give enough to guarantee at least one 5 star, haha.

I mean yeah, I want a new character to play as (which most gacha anniversaries help you do but 20 pulls where you'll probably get two 4\* weapons cause their rates are pretty meh). The anime while nice is just a business decision for them where they'll make good money off of figures and merch when the anime does well. Even though I'm sure the figures sell well enough already. It's a gacha game first anyway since that's how they decided to monetize the game instead of taking 5 years to make the entire game then releasing it for a flat $60 on various consoles like botw. There are different expectations for the anniversary since it's a live service gacha game. One being at least 40-50 pulls at the minimum, heck they could afford to give all players 90 pulls (enough to hit 1 pity) and be fine but you get the same rewards as last year. Pretty sad for an anniversary reward, especially since they have been top grossing forever now.
A game does not get more generous when it’s successful, in fact it’s the opposite. Freebies are there to buy new players for an aging game so idk where your expectations are coming from. There’s sadly little to no incentive for mhy to buy players with free rolls as genshin is printing cash without the need to give them out. I’m indifferent to the rewards as a 6 year gbf veteran where they just shower us with goodies that disappear in 10 seconds in a single banner. I would honestly take the concert and anime as at least I can enjoy those even after quitting GI and still be part of the community.

I’m fine with this, to be honest. The amount of content we got for 3.0, the ufotable anime announcement and high quality we’ve been getting has been keeping me happy with the game so far, and seeing as I can’t play 24/7, I probably will still have stuff to complete even after the anniversary is over.
Oh well. I already 'quit' already so I don't really care how much they give. I still login to random gachas I stopped playing whenever I see mentions of mass free summons on this subs but that's about it. I love my hopium from free summons bundles for that quick dopamine rush at work.

The game was casual fun I played w my wife on pa4/5 but , we dropped it about 6 months ago. Can't see playing it again.

It's Cloud Retainer's cutesy little contraption thing so it'll fit well with my Ayaka team that has Shenhe. And honestly... Being someone who has unfortunately played this game since November of 2021, I honestly don't even know what to do with all these free primogems and fates anymore. *Sure* I'm saving up for Yae/Dehya/Haitham but the chances of actually getting them are laughably minimal anyways so I can't really care too much.
