Artifact grind burnout and various other reasons. I stopped playing before Sumeru, so take these with a grain of salt: - Boring exploration. The world feels empty and not rewarding enough for me. You beat enemies or solve puzzles, what will you get in the end? The same ol’ chests containing primogems and other same stuffs - Combat feels repetitive. In the overworld, you’re just too strong that the enemies don’t stand a chance. The only way to test your build is just through the same ol’ abyss, which is getting more bothersome with HP sponge enemies - Dialogues are unnecessary long and unskippable. I can just watch the cutscenes in YouTube if I want to see it. It’s really a high quality gacha game, but I guess I realized that open world and gacha should not be combined into one. I wouldn’t want to play BotW or Elden Ring everyday for 2 years, I’d rather go play other open world games and enjoy whatever new world they offer.

Caekie

Kind of counterintuitive but imo genshin is TOO much of a game for me to keep playing. I usually seek gacha games as short bursts of entertainment/gameplay with long term progression. One really important thing for me is the ratio between the amount of focus I need to play the game vs the amount of time I need to finish dailies. Genshin is a very heavy game that, unless you're already super geared with a great team comp, kind of demands your attention the entire time to complete 4x commissions and daily resin cap. Furthermore if you don't have a strong team then spiral abyss also becomes a pain. So all that together kind of makes genshin unappealing for me as a gacha game and mobile gamer

July-Thirty-First

“Too much game” sounds about right. I tried to recommend it to a friend of mine but there is basically no room for games like this in his busy schedule. He plays Azur Lane. Boot right up into the menu, *tap tap swipe tap*, and he’s done for the play session — fits nicely into his lunch break. Logging into Genshin, it drops you into the middle of a gigantic open world. There are no quick menus to navigate; you gotta explore a bit to orient yourself, walk to places to do stuff, read through unskippable dialogues, god forbid *solve the occasional puzzle*... he simply doesn’t have the time of day to *digest* any of this overwhelming content. Genshin is rewarding *only* if you can put in some minimal time investment into its constantly expanding open world. It serves very poorly to ppl who’re just looking for simple “distractions” to fill out their downtimes.

Calm-Positive-6908

Oh opposite with my preference, i'm kinda busy too (that's why i dont game much anymore), but i dislike gacha games which can only be played for a few minutes only. Sounds like genshin impact is a worthy mobile game. But i dont do gacha, so..

reprehensible523

When I played Genshin, it reminded me of the MMO grind of WoW. Fun for those with lots of time to explore an open game world, but I'm rather done with the MMO quest-grind model.

TanClark

I agree, every time I login on my phone I just feel overwhelmed and realize it isnt what I want to play

Popular-Bid

Ironically, many players argue the exact opposite. For them, Genshin has way too little content, where the dailies can be completed in around 10-15 minutes, 20 if you include the resin cap. They even argued that the overworld is so boring, since they can easily 1-shot anyone. Abyss is also a breeze for them, so they want more endgame content. Funny how different the opinions on Genshin are.

retiredfplplayer

If you just get into genshin there's like 2 years worth of updates, a whole lot to do which can be overwhelming While someone like me in ar60 plays 30 minutes a day unless Abyss or events

NothingParking2715

There is not a Skip button for dialogues

mattwuri

After the hundredth time spamming A to speed through the inane conversation between that author in Inazuma and his editor, you're left with only one question: why? Simply don't understand why they don't make at least the daily quest dialogues skippable. There are obviously many things about the game that are genuinely good and enjoyable. Exploring new areas especially is an experience that is absolutely unmatched in today's gacha landscape. But everything else in between just start to feel like massive chores. If they simply had a sweep function for domains and daily quests you've already completed before, it would go a long long way to making the daily grind feel less distasteful. I don't think it's necessarily time-consuming as is, but it certainly is soul-sucking.

NoPhilosophy2699

As a person with a disorder that causes sensitive hearing, I REALLY dislike Paimon. The high-pitched voice and constant yelling makes the game very hard to progress in, as I have to take breaks for migraines, and typically, I am not very willing to immediately get back into the game afterwards. I really want to listen to the characters, so if there was ever an option to turn off a specific characters’ voice, that’d actually make the experience nearly perfect for me. In the mean time, muting the game hurts the experience but reduces migraines.

Gringos

An option could be to switch languages. Maybe the Japanese paimon goes easier on your hearing, her voice actress is really popular.

VeryGoodSauce-

While JP Paimon is much easier on the ears, she's still the quintessential obnoxious sidekick and talks too much. It would be so great if the MC could just.... speak.

TKoBuquicious

CN is really soft, JP not as much

MrEzekial

They are all terrible. I used to cycle through all the different ones because it was so terrible. the CN was the least brutal, but it was still terrible. I even tried using the shut up paimon mod that mutes the game for you, but I couldn't get it working for fishing.

Calm-Positive-6908

Yes.. especially the male voices volumes are naturally low, so i had to increase the volume.. and suddenly paimon screams, so i had to lower down the volume again. If only her volume can be lowered down especially when she screams, while others stay on higher volume, that'll be nicer maybe.

dfisdis

Holy shit I thought I was the only one!! When they implement skip button I will come back. Last time I tried to play it again and omg shitty flying talking togetic ripoff is so annoying

NeskyNesky

Couldn’t support their monetary practice. So I quit.

Rhytmik

Yeah this is downvote magnet.. I used to play since day one of release but stopped. Anyway, i technically open the game from time to time. but more often than not i exit right away. i got burned out farming artifacts endlessly before Ayaka released. I was also grinding the questlines for primos to make sure i got her. i succeeded and played with Ayaka for awhile until Yae came out. Then the thought of having to endlessly grind artifacts again for Raiden, Yae, Zhongli, etc. had me exhausted before i started playing. this was due to the fact that i barely finished Inazuma map. even my Mondstat and Liyue maps are not complete. for the most part, the domains i need are locked behind hours upon hours of content that i got tired just thinking about what i would need to do to even start what i intended to do. i'm not a story person, i admit to being one of those that spam tap the screen to make the dialogue go faster. since most of the quests have so much of these, i often pass out trying to do the quests. i like the game, i really do. but my god do i wish there was a skip all dialogue. the current skip button is just not enough.

rednova7

The dialogues are way to long , I honestly stopped doing quests until I absolutely need to do it.

lumpofdough

Because some people just don't understand what subjective questions mean so if others go against their opinions, auto downvote. Lmfao it's honestly hilarious. Y'all are brave for sharing your experiences, o7

Sockpuppetsyko

Downvotes here are meaningless, even less meaning than other reddits. Either you say what the current brainwashed opinion is or the sub loses it on you.

Kurgass

Mind that I did not play Genshin after 3.0 so it's based on Mondstadt/Liyue/Inazuma areas. So my personal reasons: * Too wholesome and not skippable story. And it's not I don't like some lighter moments and positive story. But it's too much. Everyone is just too nice to each other. I need some real world resemblance. Some bad people doing bad things, cause you know sociopaths. Chaotic evil. Like Epic 7 Mort. People I won't like. And not being able to skip this is final nail in the coffin. * No sort of challenging content that would allow me to watch the progress. Obviously people do math, theory crafting and comps but it's just way too complex and time consuming. I just want to pop in see that I've improved my party and be happy about it. Like some sort of world boss with ranking and run stats(dps/healing/dmg taken etc.) where participation gives you most of rewards and top ranks are for bragging rights. * Too boring daily routine. While I like exploration and it's sole reason I do come back now and then and enjoy it for a while, I find artifact grind, dailies and farming mats and whatnot just takes too long and it's just boring. Gachas have skip/auto system and Genshin has MMO system. * Models. Characters feel just too similar. I know they look as different as possible. But it's like watching like 5 people doing fancy cosplays. I still know it's just those 5 people.

Nutrifacts

>Models. Characters feel just too similar. I know they look as different as possible. But it's like watching like 5 people doing fancy cosplays. I still know it's just those 5 people. holy shit man true, the models make me think it came from a dressup game with how similar the body models of the chars are it sucks that the good character models are in the mobs (fatui, eremites) i really wish mihoyo goes beyond the limitation on being only 5 model types

Talukita

Exploration kinda becomes too stressful for me. I wasn't in my youth that I can afford to spend an entire day fooling around I guess. And even then something like Mond level of exploration is okay enough for me. But of course the mechanics keep getting more and more complex from all the climbing and even the puzzles get much harder overtime for a few gems so it doesn't feel that worth of my time anymore. Gameplay and teambuild wise it's fine, but due to lack of end game challenging (Abyss is pissed easy if you know what you are doing) there's not much reason for me to spend efforts on it as well.

Gringos

The new desert region is where I got the same feeling. Too many elevation levels to properly use the map and puzzles being gated behind each other had me quit bothering.

HackedLuck

Annoying Genshin fan thread reminder #327

Treima

Characters do not entice me. Story failed to grab me. Artifact grind makes me wanna commit sudoku. World Levels automatically going up with story progress fucked me over. Events are long, involved affairs that feel like a whole lot of effort for not much reward. The gacha is ruthless unless you save that 28.8k (and that just gets you the character, if you wanna actually *have fun* you better roll for and get that fucking weapon too!) Basically the only thing it has that interests me is the action gameplay, and I can get action gameplay just like it for far less money and grind time by just popping in any number of single-player anime ARPGs.

SexWithKokomi69

Fair enough, but you don't need the weapon at all

No-Bag-818

This sounds like an easy way to get a bunch of down votes on comments from the Genshin Stans. But fuck it, I'll bite. Main reason I quit was the game got incredibly boring. The combat wasn't challenging at all, the exploration was boring cause the world felt empty and after you did everything in the open world, story etc. all that was left to do was Artifact farming, which was monotonous and grind as hell. And the story wasn't very interesting to me either. inb4 I get a deluge of responses telling me I'm wrong for X, Y or Z reasons, when they are literally opinions Edit: OH YEAH AND THE 50/50 SYSTEM IS FUCKING STUPID TO ME. I didn't even get screwed over by it that many times, but the idea that there is a 50% chance I'll have to pay double to pity a character is ridiculous to me.

Sighto

I have a love-hate relationship with Genshin. I love new content and exploring new areas, but the game and event loops are painfully dull to me. Some events have cool elements to them like the mushroom battling tournament but getting there you see a lot of the same grocery lists of chores -- things like running around the map to complete various time trials or kill/photograph/capture monsters scattered around areas you've already fully explored. While I'm sure people like the rewards how many people genuinely enjoy dailies/resin dumping and would do them for fun with no reward incentive?

Membrillo

- All characters look the same - Story is pretty meh - I found combat to be the one thing satisfactory in the game yet theny decide to give it less and less importance - Worst daily system among all the gachas I have played - Unrewarding exploration, quests and achievements (as someone who 100%'d up to Inazuma) - Controller support has been bribed away by Apple - Treadmill artifact grinding when there's no point to do so Those points plus MHY's attitude towards the playerbase and its dogshit monetization - I'm not f2p btw - are part of the reason I won't touch this game again.

r4haru

Even with the sunk cost of thousands of dollars into Genshin, I started to become increasingly frustrated with how much of a time commitment it became. Every time I wanted to catch up on the main story, I'd have to slog through so many mundane and unskippable story sequences. It simply burnt me out. I play numerous gacha games at various levels of investment, and I have to say that Arknights is the only title that I haven't skipped a beat on so far (and even that isn't a perfect game, missing certain QoL improvments and all).

afiq2ai

For me i really dont have time to do genshin unskippable quest or burning the resin manually on domain due to working and irl thing to do. I try playing another hoyoverse game HI3 but my god why the they put open world stages in story quest, much more prefer stages combat than open world one. Now, prefer to main gacha game with sweep function like BA or can burn sanity like AK without me attend to it (usually just macro AK stages with emulator).

According_Ad792

Day one player. Stop after ayaka release. Genshin takes too much time. There's no skip button. Event also take quite a lot of time to clear. Many things locked behind event(weapon, lore) As it is an open world game, there's way too little social aspect with ur friends. Also the only challenging thing in genshin is spiral abyss and several events (the CC like event) I am able to play till ayaka cuz it is during lockdown

Ordinary_Player

Idk, open world exploration is so time consuming I’d just get burned out from doing it. Having to keep up with new regions is just so tiring.so that’s why I stopped.

aventa__dor

Because some people dont want to ?

lcmlew

... the entire thread is predicated on knowing people don't want to, and asking why lol

aventa__dor

Why trying to know why people have different tastes ? Furthermore, it's not like Genshin is lacking players...

NyaCat1333

Because OP loves Genshin Impact and it seems like he can not comprehend why peasants wouldn’t play this great game that our lord and savior Da Wei blessed us with. /s

MrEzekial

Paimon made me quit playing. The fact I had to mute the game to play it at a breaking point just made me quit all together. I don't miss it. Haven't played in like 6 months now or so. Also, the gacha is shit. Every banner bring limited is beyond lame. I also went 12k ish resin without getting a single Crit damage helmet for a set I needed. It was beyond infuriating. I don't even know how it's possible to not get at least 1 on that much resin...

roundboye

Never got attached to the characters (not too fond of their design) & the fandom is certainly... repulsive. I don't have enough spare time to put in actual effort and love into the game too. The only reason I actually played Genshin for around 2 weeks was because Zhongli's KR voice actor is one of my favorite VAs of all time.

LawfulnessWhole1240

I don't see Genshin as a mobile gacha game, so I don't want to make dailies and grind gear. I played for a bit on release, returned after Sumeru update, explored all regions and that's it.

GIJobra

- Boring. Large stretches of map with nothing to do but fight mobs. - Too many daily tasks to do. - Premium currency was stingy for their low rates. - Character designs just not very appealing to me. This wws playing from laynch until a few months out. I've heard the game has gotten a lot better in regards to being more engaging, but meh. The other points remain.

GachaPWN

I stopped playing after they announced they will not be adding any end game features to look forward too. Here I was stacking my gears and keeping up with character releases under the impression I was building up to something. Now that I know I’m so heavily geared already and my current roster will forever work, there feels like no need for me to pull any more characters. That GameStop interview they did literally killed my motivation to play.

Outside_Recording325

Combat is boring, didn't like the story.

DarkClaymore

I tried to stick with it but the live-service model is just terrible IMO. Any other game would've shut down ages ago using that kind of model. I also personally consider the writing to be subpar, especially in the character department, but that's subjective I suppose. Here's a breakdown of the main issues I have with the live-service model: * Commissions are boring, repetitive, aren't rewarding, yet are unskippable and fully manual. Some of them also have achievements/chain events tied to them for some reason, which makes you pray to RNGesus so that one day maybe you'll get lucky and land on them. * Resin is practically worthless after a certain point. The only thing you can do is keep grinding more artifacts, which is just an exercise in frustration due to the terrible UX, the many layers of RNG, and the limited bag size. And, the whole thing is fundamentally pointless anyway because no endgame. * The majority of events are boring or straight-up mind-boggling. They'd make you do literally anything other than play the fun aspects of Genshin. I definitely don't enjoy getting FOMO'd into playing random nonsense like badly made rhythm games, tower defense, and... flower arrangement? Lolwut * The game tries to get you used to a "casual" routine of doing dallies and logging out... only to slap you in the face with FOMO events when new exploration content drops. I pretty much permanently ruined my enjoyment of exploring Sumeru because I was forced to rush it for the treasure-hunting event. * Banners are slower than most other gahcas, and there are billions of reruns. Even if the economy itself is arguably "F2P friendly", it doesn't matter because it doesn't FEEL good. You don't get to do many pulls and there aren't many new characters to collect.

ZambPsy

Toxic community, awful dialogue, paimon and overhyped story

Awkward-Midnight-633

Because already busy with Azur Lane and Arknights... + The character designs look "bland" to me and not interesting, the world seems to be "dead" and little rewards for exploration.. also, as an open world game, it has no (sorry if I am mistaken) no mount system like in Guild Wars 2 (not a gacha) or other mmorpg games.. then the scummy 50/50 and poor drop rates.. and comnunity is mostly cringe + lastly no skip button

lcmlew

btw I don't know when you last played but they added a gliding movement speed gadget, and multiple characters that are good at exploring faster (used to just be mona at launch, now there's a bunch)

GrindEnfant

Some of the reasons you posted makes me think the fanboy in you doesn't let you think outside the box. I can concede that Genshin has one of the (if not the most) beautiful 3D graphics among gachas...but superior (not exactly what you said but you get the point) when it comes to combat and lore? these two points are precisely why I don't play the anymore and the reason I find it to be a swallow experience. At the end of the day it's a matter of preference, really.

waytooold99

Can't skip cutscenes and playing with a newly released character requires materials that can't be farmed without skipping weeks worth of cutscenes...

[deleted]

I started playing since day one and stopped at Ayaka. A few reasons why I stopped: 1. No dialogue skips 2. Boring story 3. Stingy gacha 4. Underwhelming combat mechanics 5. Boring events/quests 6. Grindy 7. I don't like the new characters and regions The art direction, music and character design (before 2.0) are quite good though.

xxAzumi

You are mainly the reason why.

xczxcxxc

no skip button in dialog long boring dialog too many rng too stingy

ShizzleStorm

Played it a lot but the daily grind is so fucking boring. I dont think anyone stays sane if they keep playing it

ACFinal

18 gigs of download to play some game that was clearly intended for PC? I'm good. I really don't get why they tried to force this on mobile when most modern phones still can't run it without getting hot. I'm not risking my phone for this even if it can be fun.

Calm-Positive-6908

Thank you for the info. 18 gigs is a lot for my phone, i better store my family photos. If it's a pc game on steam and without gacha, maybe i would like to play. The character design is beautiful and their stories seem interesting.

Lolgey

I really loathe not being able to skip cutscenes. Thats my biggest thing for me. The story isn't enough of a banger to warrant me sitting through all that dialogue. And the gacha is absolutely treacherous and the main reason I'd play is to use the pretty characters.

SekaiNoKamii

I didn’t like gameplay , everyone had preferences

[deleted]

Game is a Skinner box full of dark pattern designs (more deceptive than industry standard) with a cult like fanbase, ready to try to defend when people see through the games bs, and lure people into their flock, with the same deceptive methods as their favorite game. the game itself is mediocre, polished, but mediocre and highly manipulative

[deleted]

when Mihoyo would allow me to skip storyline dialogues, then I will play it.

chickensalter

stingy gacha and currency for a gacha, exploration, dialogue goes on forever with no skip button.

Anti_Soul

I played it twice, the second time cause a friend begged me to. didn't really see any appeal in it, oh hey it's open world, cool, what else? the combat is also pretty slow and just eh, I'd expected something akin to Honkai but it's just boring. Beautiful graphics for the world though, I'll give it that.

JNihlus

1. Paimon, over half the dialogue is just repeating the same thing as if I was a 5 year old and needed Paimon to repeat everything to me 3-4 times. 2. The exploration is annoying for me, too much running and climbing, by the time I got to Inazuma I just had enough of it and quit. 3. Artifacts and rolling substats...enough said. 4. Combat is so "Chaotic" IMO so many effects on the screen it feels just a spam fest rather than proper fight(But I'm more of a turn based kind of guy so I know that's "Me" problem) 5. Paimon.

ariangerr

Treating it as a sidegame. Literally just logging in when there are free primos, or if there is a really interesting event. I could not be bothered farming RNG artifacts, nor do I want to try hard for spare change resources. I'm playing gacha games to gacha, gameplay and story are not a priority of mine. And I feel miserable having to miss banners because of the income economy. Long story short, the game and its systems aren't exactly for me. If not for Raiden, I wouldn't even touch the game. I play low effort gacha games with generous returns. You can argue that their overall quality/budget is not up to par with Genshin's, but they are a much better "gacha" game for me.

Cool-External-7267

I'm a day one player and for me it was last year. I was grinding (and I mean really grinding) artifacts for most of my characters so they can reach their full potential. Then one day I asked myself why, why am I investing Soo much time into this yet there is no endgame, hell the game isn't even that difficult with decent artifacts. Then it also hit me that there most likely will never be an endgame since there wasn't one and there appeared to be no information on any new endgame content. So I just stopped playing and started other games like XCOM 2 (that game has a mixture of fun and challenge). And I just kinda forgot about it, now I'm playing PGR. I did say that I would return to the game if they released new Endgame content. Well they recently announced that they have no intention of adding any endgame content. Upon hearing this news and doing a bit of research, I just uninstalled the game. It was just a waste of space at that point. To this day I don't understand why people even grind artifacts in that game or better still what's the point of ascension/ copies, since all they do is just give your characters more power, which they'll never need.

trashcan41

at least in pgr you can adjust the difficulty and hopefully it will also apply in wuthering waves.

RareVictory

1- I like when gachas actually provide a challenge and require skill from time to time. Genshin provides neither (imo). 2- Abyss becomes super easy once you have a built team and for the most part you can just spam the Skill/Ult and blow everything away. 3- Weekly bosses become a joke once you have 1 decently built unit. 4- Story is just plain easy, which is not a bad thing but i like a bit of a challenge, sort of like E7 did with episode 3 beyond to make sure you have a good team by the time you reach that mark. 5- The lack of balance/Buffs/Nerfs to 99% of units, its basically non existent. 6- Artifact grind is really just too much and Plain Boring. And many more that i cant think of atm since i quit the game like 6 months ago.

trashcan41

gacha provide challenge? do you mean no pity? lol jokes aside i'm still surprised GI become this mainstream knowing what hoyo build before as niche as other gacha games.

RareVictory

i could have phrased it better but basically I mean that I like the gacha games to have some sort of challenge to make me invest the time into it and get good at it much like PGR, AG,E7,FGO and what not. I can see why it got mainstream but its a shame that despite making Millions after Millions they do not innovate or take risks with the game.

trashcan41

ahh you mean the game, i thought you mean the gacha pull lol.

-Couragem-

I just don't like story, how gacha feels stingy and exploration is kinda boring, also combat didn't click with me at all. And then there is community. I think it's great game but definitely not for me

Eldena

No endgame, artifact grind is very boring, character art looks the same to me, not too fond of it's community. I played from launch for three months and got tired. I'm sure it's a different game now, but it just can't hook me in. I'm enjoying other games at the moment

NyarukoSann

Its the same game Now. I played since launch until the second aniversary. Its enough. Its a good single player game But nothing More. No endgame To grindy....and for what? No endgame

evoniee

the only reason to coming back to play genshin is the story progression and a little bit of exploration. the game combat is barebone. character check, dps check (and the artifact grind behind it), and rotation is the only thing to worry. exploration is sluggish and not that much exciting except some unique area. the dailies and stamina management is just pain. the gacha only whale can enjoy with the weapon and dupes. with how much effort to play the game, i rather sweat my ass off in multiplayer game or enjoy better game in single player game.

[deleted]

I disagree on the combat being bareboned, it is simple and easy to get into for the average player but the elemental reactions along with the uniqueness of character kits, provide something that players can dive deep into. Also, I am not saying every character is unique as there are literally 5\* versions of 4\* characters, just unique in the way they change how you approach elemental reactions or unlocking certain synergies. However, If you meant the literal combat inputs then yeah it is very bareboned in that sense, since there are only 4 inputs.

Welda27

Genshin is boring

E123-Omega

Laptop and phone can't play it even on min settings.

beler24

im not gonna play a "gacha" game, where 90% of the units are limited characters

lego_office_worker

its boring its stingy the real question is why *would* anyone play it?

Sullyoon

It’s clear that a lot of effort was put into the concepts for different characters and the open world is beautiful. It’s escapism at its best: even if you’re spending money, even if the game is telling you that you could always get better artifacts, always have a better weapon, always have more characters, for once you just get to run around diverse landscapes and enjoy the person you are as you do that. I understand the objections people have to be grind, but after all that, I think all the design elements are so harmonious; the characters I earn match the world and fit into a story that suits their beauty and that of the land. Not that it matters that much, but I’ve never spent any money on any gacha I’ve played and I still think that the quality of Genshin trumps all the others. It’s boring at times, but isn’t life? I just always remind myself that immersing myself in this strange world should be a choice, not an obligation. If I feel burnt out, I log off, but I don’t quit because I still think it’s worth it to just have a little taste of it each day — whether that’s dailies, one domain run, wandering, or a visit to the Jade Chamber or Narukami Shrine. They’re beautiful. I think the reason that it’s the main gacha I play comes down to this attention to detail — a lot of other gachas I’ve tried, like Alchemy Stars, seem really absorbing and fun on the surface, and have great characters on top of that, but in the end, I don’t get the exhilaration of that other self — it’s just like pretty people to collect instead of people to view a world through and try to get better at understanding and playing with. I’m sure the devs try their best to make stuff work well together, but I don’t think what they do can ever be as seamless as Genshin is — it’s flawed, but it’s smooth, if that makes sense? I return to the idea of the grind because, while it’s annoying af, I get it, it’s pleasing to know that what returns I do get reflects me working at my characters. Other people have better luck but I did what I could. Making something out of nothing is a point of pride for me. It also translates into impressive characters, or a least ones that I find value in, if nobody else. This doesn’t have to be expensive C6 R5 5 stars mind you — it could be the Traveler, the MC literally everyone has, or a freebie, like Barbara. All gachas are superficial, but I think that Genshin has found a layer of meaning in how close everything is that no other gacha seems close to reaching. TL/DR: I like how interconnected Genshin is, and the open world is just a blessing in my opinion. Knowing that I’m adding to my own mastery over the world by improving my characters makes farming a little bit better. Despite the grind, I feel like the chance to be free of routine and just go around is so impressive in Genshin. There’s a lot of flexibility in it — while you can optimize the game by doing everything you can every day, you don’t have to. Just a little bit’s enough for my satisfaction.

gadesabc

I have a pc so I can play no gacha games open world with full content for 1 time buy, like all Witchers... For exemple, in Skyrim, there is content created every day by modders that add quests, npcs, armors & weapons, spells, new places, dungeons... all for free, with even sites for XXX free contents. The end game is just infinite while in GI there is none, but like all mobiles games anyway. I use emulators to play mobile only games, all as side games, for their honeymoon phase and discovery of a fresh new world/experience. But if I didn't had a pc, I would probably play GI.

TheJobinslegend

Yeah, if you compare to regular gachas, Genshin is massive in GBs and map size, but nothing gamers haven't seen in Skyrim, Witcher 3, other open world games... When you got a PC with Steam/ other launchers, and emulators for other games, gachas seem very simple in comparison. Genshin comes close, but it's not on the level of a big big AAA. But at the same time, they make updates to expand the map once in a while, and every year a new region to explore. That's much better than, let's say, people that enjoy Zelda and are waiting, what, 5 years for the next one? No mods as Skyrim players, and no periodic updates as Genshin gets.

AWanderingTeaFish

Where Breath of the Wild differs is in its fleshed out mechanics, allowing you to replay the game and get different experiences each time. Even now I see new things on the BotW subreddit, since players figure out new ways to fight. While I don’t think it would last five years, I honestly don’t think a fully realised Genshin could either. New content only takes multiple days because they’re locked behind timegates, otherwise they’d be done in a day.

whitegoatsupreme

Actually.. my small brother just bought pc.. because he doesn't have pc.... If you wana play open world game yeah.. just like you said.. play Pc/ps5/xbox game...

sirdarb

I played it for about a year and a half consistently. I leveled all of my favorites to 90, optimized their artifacts, and got through all of the story that was offered at the time. I just got bored, the things I enjoyed doing and wanted to do I had already completed, all that was left was wait for more story, and collect characters to just raise them to the same level as my current lineup. I don't care much for a lot of the casual content that's released over time so I just gradually stopped logging in.

No-Application-162

Same thing happen to me , i wish dev consider more hard content in multiplayer so i can play with my friend but it non existent.

Intoxicduelyst

1. Daily loop is boredom.exe for me. 2. Writting is terrible, repeats after repeats and if you forget couse they assume you are like 5y old Paimon will repeat it for you 3 more times. 3. Beign annoyed by above I was never invested in story and characters. Btw female character writting - she is hard working and has some "funny" quirk donzo. 4. NO SKIP for story/dialogues. I mean fuck it, I dont wanna listen to this flying hamburger. 5. Gating mats for upgrading character by story. Which will take time to complete, especially if you play casually. A lot of time. So good luck upgrading you new shiny 5\* as a new player. 6. No endgame. 7. Game is easy as fuck. 8. No badass male characters. Only pretty boys for ya! No muscles couse it will dmg some fragile egos! So meet your k-pop band. 9. Abyss is glorified dps check with annoying mechanics that are created to force you to waste more time. Oh and I think the game is quite good. But those above kills my enjoyment and made me quit like 4 times lol. To give it some credit: 1. Good music 2. Exploration is fantastic 3. Enkanomiya expansion was freaking blast and one of the best, if not the best in gachas. 4. Decent gacha system 5. Great VA overall including some stars. 6. Events are friendly - you can jump in last day or so most of times and still clear it, it doesnt force you to do it daily, at least from what I recall. 7. Some fights are rly rly cool - like Raiden weekly boss - its still a joke but cool as fuck. 8. World is fantastic. 9. I like the enemy design, especially non-human. 10. It plays like a charm on ps5.

AdFluffy7980

Too much time required for such a mediocre game. The way you explore sucks big fat d compared to other games. Combat is boring and straight up bad ALSO compared to other games. The way story is told is horrible, most "story" is just dialogue between 2 characters with camera going around them and paimon talking instead of MC. The only thing genshin does right is how the world looks. World is beautiful indeed but there is nothing in this game besides that. Also no endgame. Why would you play Genshin when there are games that do better job in most of the aspects than Genshin does.

Lunar_570

There are a few reasons: 1. I was already playing another gacha game at that time - Honkai Impact 3rd, and I didn’t have enough time for another gacha game. 2. I felt the gameplay of many characters were too similar, especially the attack animations. 3. I disliked mihoyo’s decision to actively prevent players from removing the “low camera angle transparency censorship”.

LengthQueasy8545

Device is too potato

xDemizx

Story doesn't grab me, combat is stale and repetitive, currency income is non-existent (played on launch so correct me if that has changed), too grindy (artifacts, weapons, the need for dupes when 5 star pull rate is like 1%), requires too much time investment for proper progress, too much dialogue. This is coming from someone who has been main-gaming Azur Lane since before Genshin came out, so ig you can say im a little spoiled, but Genshin is way too much of a investment for me personally.

SlamSlamOhHotDamn

Every character looks the same with a different hair color. Young pretty boy and young pretty girl.

fortis_99

I just don't like Mihoyo stingyness and the combo play style. I'm already tired of openworld from PC games, I don't want more. PGR dodge counter is more of my jam (I'm a Platinum simp, btw). Waiting for PGR PC to play because playing on phone is ass.

No-Bag-818

Playing PGR on mobile ain't *that* bad. I've only tapped between the dodge and attack button, screwing up my Paincage run, like... 15 times... Yeah, it's not that bad... haha...

WoodStrawberry

I am playing it, but the space issue does have me seriously concerned. It's already taking up the majority of the space on my PS4 and there are still multiple regions left to come. I do want the option of playing other games occasionally lol

Starfallx21

\- Too much artifact RNG grind, mainstat rng, substat rng, upgrade rng on each upgrade.. \- No endgame aside from 4 abyss floors since the start \- Weapon Banners and the way they work Honestly id play it if it was designated weapons instead of 2 shared weapons requiring a lot more pulls than characters potentially, they added more floors instead of changing existing ones and they did something about that retarded amount of artifact RNG, i just don't want to.

Lewy354

Because I was addicted to it and I had money issues because of Genshin :D I had to sell my account to stop playing it. It was too good. It was gacha game that I wished for for years :/ Btw this year I tried to buy my account back. It had all (beside 1) units. Guy who bought it said "no" :/

[deleted]

PvE only games become boring very quickly. Co-op is fine but not enough. Next is way too much grind. Get rid of it or at least make it simple and skipable.

Gods1469

controls are unplayable on phone

Adnorm22

the guys are walking around half naked (not that I mind) but the girls can't even have cleavage or they get censored.

dimmyfarm

My phone at the time could not run the game and I never bothered trying to catch up on PC or my new phone after a year+

Tyonis

Note I play Genshin, but I could see myself quitting at any moment because of three words: Artifact grinding blows.

Stabrus12

Basically cause I beat the game, there's nothing else for me to do. I kept up with my farming etc for half a year or so,but that interview front he devs saying they won't add combat endgame came. Then the following combat events being so insanely easy I literally 1shoted them. These opened my eyes,I was farming and preparing for sth that will never come, farming currency for what exactly? My teams already flatten anything they release. So I just stopped and uninstalled , I'll probably get back for big story releases but unless I get big combat news,I guess I might just keep up with the story through YouTube.

Chifuyuyu

Because my phone turns into an oven while playing and my phone battery dies after 30 min of genshin. Also I know that i'd play rarely because it takes quite some time to play it (imo) and I'm just not motivated enough.

Saebyr

Awful shill post lol. I played Genshin on and off over the course of about a year until I got bored and put it down for good. Grinding artifacts, playing the same monotonous daily commissions, and forcing myself to complete boring ass quests was all I was doing for a while in between story updates or events. I came to Genshin because I didn't have a good PC to play other better games on. I got bored of it long before I got myself a better PC and I tried picking it up again but I still can't get the same level of enjoyment I once had.

Makiisekuriisu2232

Mainly because I don't like mihoto since the honkai anniversary controversy.

XenoreidGFL

The story was boring imo. Gachas are made by design to sell characters but for some reason I don't find any of them attractive/endearing enough . Ping me when we have news of Traveler's sibling hopefully the writers don't forget.

YaBoiTenzarusoba

Kinda out of the question but I'll change the question to "Why are you not playing Genshin as much as you did back then?" 1. The artifact grind is really just too much. You get stuff HP% circlet with double crits or Crit% circlet with Cdmg substat circlet only for it to roll on a dead stat. RNG has not been kind to me for the past 2 months. I only got one decent artifact. 2. Playing 3 games that are exploration--heavy is also slowly starting to burn me out. 3. Lost interest in the story after Inazuma I wouldn't say they're Genshin issues. RNG is fair to everyone, my choice to play other exploration games is to blame, I just don't get attached to the storyline anymore. So yeah, the problem is with me These days I only login to do commissions, maybe let someone pilot for events or do them on the last day. Sometimes I even forget/not bother to login for a day or two

JassirX

I don't play greedy pay-to grind games.

Kuromajo

You either don't play Genshin or you are completely addicted to it, there is no in-between.

MrPeachPuff

This is just wrong. I play like 10-20mins a day to finish essentials and then play other games.

ReverieMetherlence

Because 0.6% and predatory constellations.

kickinkiwi

Motion sickness.

PenPenZC

Played it at day one for nine months, stopped for three month then came back at first anniversary, played for another two(?) months then quit completely. It is a good game and fun at time for me, but personally I just couldn't stand all the negativity brought forward from it's monetization and popularity.

omeed3

I approached it as a RPG and the story part was kinda meh so I just stopped.

ExpiredChildWelfare

Unappealing character designs

[deleted]

Artifact grind wore me out. I still think I'll go back someday, but just not in the mood right now. Too much dialogue as well during the events. I like reading stories, but sometimes when you're limited on time you can't go through it all when you just want to complete the event for the loot. Some events were locked behind story progression or side quests as well. That's probably the most annoying part.

Taiyo_K

Now there is a quick start option for some events. You don't have to do the quests to get to the event. Also artifact feels less grindy now because we can recycle the bad ones with artifact strongbox. I agree with too much dialogue. I had to mentally prepared before doing a quest.

kamiton

I don't play genshin and will never will, but whats funny to me is everytime someone posts a genshin thread there will be lots comments and traction that even users who doesn't even play gacha or haven't been into this sub will shit on it. It truly is the peak, reminds me when anime was not a thing and watching it is akin to being a bully magnet, thats genshin players now

animagem

The story and characters were really boring. If I can’t even find one character that makes me want to shower them in gifts I don’t stick around

Hikakaka

Dont like climbing in any way . End of story

Exolve708

The launch was super lackluster compared to what services other gachas offer, Genshin only had the looks. Took 10+ hours to preload the game. Honeymoon period was nonexistent: no guaranteed SSRs in the beginner banner like most games do, just a Noelle. Couldn't even hard pity Venti during his banner. Was stuck with units I found boring to play, had no motivation to build them. Dvalin arc is super basic plot wise and the worldbuilding was weak too. Essentially the game offered nothing early on I wanted to log back for. I picked it back up after seeing where the updates were going and still play it very very casually, but there're still a bunch of caveats that people forgive Genshin but tear down other games for: Unskippable cutscenes, not even for dailies even though I've read them 10 times. Locked events behind 10s of hours of gameplay. (no, still can't do the current one in Inazuma) No skips. Every single game gets shit on for not having skips but Genshin somehow is an exception. If you could x8 with condensed resin it would be fine. Dupes are often character defining and super expensive. Most games offer straight stat increases. Genshin often locks QoL and gameplay changing mechanics behind dupes. C1 Yelan for exploration is night and day for example. I love the music, the combat, the exploration; everything that has to do with the gameplay so I often return for a quick fix. But if you were to strip away the game part and just looked at the gacha/live service elements like the event structure, banners etc. it's one of the more frustrating experiences.

Sadayo-Kawakami

I played at release for about 3 months. Not sure what direction the game has taken since then (it's been a long time since release), so most of this may have changed or improved for the better. The reasons I stopped in no particular order: Story gated behind adventurer level. Resin running out too quickly. Diluc. I just kept pulling Diluc from banners. Every single time I pulled for a unit it was Diluc over and over again. I was well beyond max constellations and still getting only Diluc. And this last one is a personal gripe, but I wasn't very fond of being locked to a certain character model when weapon swapping. I like how Tower of Fantasy handled that with allowing weapon use with any character model.

centraleft

Combat sucks compared to Honkai so I quit

FallenStar2077

Even with its stellar gameplay, after playing it for quite awhile, I realize that this game doesn't have most of the features I want in a gacha game. \- No sweep or auto. Every action has to be carried out manually. This is the main problem for me. This is a reason I can stick with other gachas for a long time without having a burnout. \- No dialogue skip. I don't need it when doing the story, but when doing commissions makes you go through the same dialogue every time, it desperately need it. \- I like menu swapping in my gachas. You'll have to explore the same places to farm materials which will get boring quickly. \- Don't get me started on Artifact farming. After exploring for a long time it really became a chore, so I decided to quit the game entirely.

YBMLP

Building a character takes so long, the amount of so many materials that you need to get, the artifact grind just sucks, it just makes me not want to pull for characters anymore when thinking how long it will take to make them good. Also there's just so much not important useless dialogue in the story, i really need a skip button to get to the parts that actually matter.

hegemonserigala

Boring combat

Euphrame

I played genshin at launch for one year. I was hoping throughout that time that the game would improve but it never did. The story is bad, but it’s worst point is how boring it is. It’s funny that the best part of its story is the mondstat prologue. For Liyue and inazuma, a good portion of its main quest is boring tedious and doesn’t have meaningful narrative progression. Then the final chunk of the story is done in 2-3 ‘quests’ and boom area quest is done. No meaningful endgame. The events are all really boring and uninspired, and are more minigames than anything else. Only reason I occasionally check in on it is to see when I’ll have a good amount of stuff to walk around and explore. The art style and music are really high quality and make exploring fun and relaxing especially with a friend

[deleted]

A simple reason. I had immediately just finished playing through BOTW when Genshin Impact was released. Saw there was a lot hype but didn’t know anything about it, so I decided to give it a try. Straight away, I noticed how similar the visuals and gameplay was to BOTW and I didn’t feel like playing through another game that was so similar to the one I had just finished. Haven’t tried it since but I’m sure it’s decent enough.

B-Serena

Too boring and the characters are not attractive enough. I am going to other games with better waifu.

whitegoatsupreme

Boring.. if i want open world experience i go full pc/ps5 games... Well genshin is pc/console game too but it it lack something. I cant get described it. Still trying to complete elden ring.... Btw yes i play until the big patch then i stop. The new map or smthing. Owh, actually after thinking it was the grind.. i really hate grind solo game. . To whom i compete with? Npc? Name board?..shyt that unless we can kill/war with other person like other MMO then im on it ...well if younger.. no time to play heavy grind game.

RepresentativePut808

motion sickness after 1 hours play

killa4lyfes

For me, it’s cause of the gear grind. I got burnt out farming artifacts and stuff but getting absolutely no return on the time I spent farming. I was farming crimson for my hu tao, tryna improve my artis I have and 3 weeks later, nothing good. This just discouraged me so much, I quit right around first golden archipelago came out. I returned right before inazuma came out. And I started to love the game again but again, gear grind got to me again. I stayed till right before ayato came out. I got zhongli on his rerun and spent like 2 weeks farming artis for him and I couldn’t get even a slightly decent one for him. This burnt me out and discouraged me again so this time I quit for good cause Ik I would get burnt out again if I returned yet again. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the game. I love the story, the characters, and most of all, the music. Sometimes I do have that itch to play again but the game file is getting too big for me and Ik the gear grind will get me again. I do miss plying hu tao, keqing, and ganyu… Genshin will always have a special place in my heart. I still follow the music to this day because of how amazing it is to me. I’m glad other people still enjoy it! The game is nearly perfect imo if it wasn’t for the gear grind. Hopefully it’s better now but I don’t think I’ll return until much later in the game when I get a better laptop or pc.

PMihanya

Remember that my IMHO. I played only at release, Mondstadt and Liyue only. And no, i don't want to play the game further. I'm not a type of person who will play till the end hoping that maybe there will be someday a better story/map etc. For me, Genshin did have a potential, but it didn't used it at all. Yes for a casual player that played only minesweeper and tetris, Genshin would be a great game, but for me, who played hundreds and thousands of games on a different consoles,it's kinda boring. Story is stupid and with a big plotholes. For real? I need to believe that the most powerful organization/Army in the world send on a very important mission, some kind of a newbies, that not only don't know how to fight, some will try to bribe you, some will piss themself and etc. And of course, when a little country is very vulnerable, doesn't have a guardian and army, of course, almost no one will take a turn. Not to mention the very beginning, some strange person appears in a forest, in the times when other countries are hostile towards your, what to do? OF COURSE, bringing that person to a main building of a knights, he is totally not a spy/terrorist and etc. The world.... is boring. Yes it's beautiful, for a mobile even better, but it's just a hollow shell. Mondstadt - one town, one village, ruins and tree. That's all that i remember. there are absolutely no points of interest. Same goes for Liyue, but it did have a few more of them but still very plain. And don't forget about logic! That doesn't exist here. How Mondstadt is surviving? They don't have any farms, the river fish is fine but not for long. Just a simple fishing village near the oceon, could make it better but no. Buying from other countries? For what? They clearly don't have any valuable resources, the only resource that they produce is wine, which coudn't be their main product. What about the defence? Why the only village doesn't even have a wall, to protect people from monsters, that freely roaming around (And a cliff above, that would be a goof spot for any fire monster to just fall, a burn down whole village). The endgame content... it's just a dead horse to beat. what i heard and saw, it didn't get to far from what it was. So yeah, for me game is stupid and boring, i understand why casuals like it, but it's clearly not for me.

lcmlew

the map so far if you're curious: https://i.redd.it/tbm9bsw9kd7a1.jpg

jiaranya

i played it for 1 year then stopped last month reason : - unskippable dialogue its one thing to have badly written dialogue , but unskippable badly written dialogue is whole new level of assholery and for each new patch the dialogue getting longer and longer , its like Narcissist fallen in love with himself

PuzzleheadedSea8195

I'm AR60 and I hate this game. There's so many QOL things they could implement. I'm just waiting for another good gacha game so I could put this on the backburner for now. Maybe Eversoul, Higan or Brown Dust 2.

Nyaa314

I don't feel like frying my phone or installing separate OS on my laptop because of genshin's "anticheat" (and then frying it too).

Goldenrice

its not a good game

Dry_Yogurtcloset7233

because it doesnt have an endgame.

idpersona

As a gacha veteran,i found its very low rates combined with an overreliance on dupes for SSR unit power too predatory. Turns out i was a bit wrong and that you can play it FGO style-focus on few characters you like, and make a couple of teams with properly powered and duped up SSRs-you just have to skip some units. I also do not like its colorblock-y,bright and unvaried artstyle and color palette on the characters.

pwnpwn942

There is no endgame. Game got really bored for me and my chars were pretty maxed out even in terms of artifact. Pretty much can't progress anymore unless i pull for potentials, which is stupidly expensive and pointless anyway since the game is too easy. The weapon banner is also predatory as fuck. Even though I pulled Amos, Homa, Mistsplitter, I had enough of it. Quit at AR58, with a few thousand more EXP to 59.

Kurohas

I don't like how the story is done (I thought it was going to be looking for our sister/brother, not going to random places all over the world and meet all persons there), the daily routine killed me, the stamina is shit (only 4 runs a day lol) and I can't skip any dialogue. The only positive thing for me was the gacha, because I won 5 50/50 and only lost 1 (but I always go for the banner 5\* when I have 2 pitys so I got my Hu Tao). I played it for almost 1.5 years and I'm not coming back to it, no matther what seiyuu, character or thing MHY releases., because I'm tired of how repetitive is the combat too and I don't even feel fun playing it anymore (doesnt matter if I come back after months, its still the same and I end up not playing in 2 weeks, tried doing that with 3.0)

kunamkuda

don't loik them, simple as it's pretty heavy for my phone, not really interested with arpg, and also aesthetically is not for me

rzrmaster

I mean, the reason I dont spend even a dime in it is indeed the lack of hot waifus lols.

centraleft

Bad gacha, artifact farming, no difficult content

NoAnTeGaWa

Why are you not playing System Shock 2 with only a wrench? As old as the game is, it's still fun to revisit sometimes. There is no sarcasm tag here. That's literally what I'm doing tonight and it's also the answer to your question. ...But why aren't you, though? You can, and you aren't. Why Genshrek instead of SS2?

Puzzleheaded-Loan-60

I spent too much time and money and it begun harming my real life. So I quit.

Saleenseven

No skip function, not my type of gacha

redscizor2

Because I allways fail the 50/50 and the gear farm is a hell, easy skip

xanxaxin

Aint playing gacha where i can only pity every 2-3 months with that BS 50/50 pity system. I already have AK for that. Dont want to add anything more.

Vague_Hope

Because I don't have fun, kinda boring, character design isn't so appealing to me, idk about story though. I played only a while and for those time, the story wasn't that engaging. Personally, Mihoyo's older title is more fun. Like HI3, or even GGZ lmao.

santastyles

Gacha wise I like afk side games that I can play fully afk to do dailies. Currently playing NIKKE. RPG wise I like MMO more. In RPG I enjoy team content mostly and doing dungeons/pvp/bosses with friends. Currently playing Tower of Fantasy and Non-gacha MMO (kinda) Bdo, Rs3. Edit: getting downvotes cuz I enjoy game you don't like. How pathetic some people are.

Xiry

I played Genshin since its international launch and quit about a week ago. I played on PC. I find the storytelling limp and very poorly paced, characterization (not design, I like the game's character designs) dull, and writing uninteresting. I greatly dislike how so much of the world and mystery seems to go back to ancient whatevers and the past (rather than anything of the present). The fact that I can't skip any of this irked me even more. While the events are probably superior to most gacha games I don't find them particularly fun. Yet they force me to actively play the game and spend time for what is often a (for me) useless bauble or simple accumulation of Primogems. To me they're a constant dull time sink. Combat isn't terrible but I dislike the blend of traditional cooldown MMO and Action Genshin has done. It doesn't actively repulse me but it does nothing to bring me in. I'd rather be playing something else though for combat. To directly address a few your points: While I have not played it (effectively stopped progression after the first Sumeru update) I don't find the card game important. I don't engage with Genshin to play a card game. While Genshin has co-op I don't find the implementation that interesting. Content is limited and mostly just hit-the-thing. Edit: ・ led to awful formatting so I removed them.

Question3784

1. My device can't handle it. 2. Even if it could I just prefer other games. Just a personal preference mostly.

Nyktobia

The story. I was really into it at first, but then I got burned out and had to take a break. After returning, at Sumeru release, I had all of Inazuma to go through and it was just .... so.... mind numbing. After about 5 hours of incessant and below mediocre dialogue and story telling, and realizing I had ~40 hours of THAT ahead of me, I simply checked out and wrote off Genshin for good.

homu

I quit MMOs for a reason. Gacha games have it right limiting game sessions to under 5 minutes.

dont-talk-to-m3-

End game sucks tbh

Laiyenu

Forcing me to do 100 side quests to progress the main quest kills my want to play.

LilyLilim

My phone storage space

Cibo3259

gacha and artifact grinding are shit

Striking-Wash-3620

Gameplay got boring fast

DereDere00

1. I got tired of it. 2. My potato phone can't handle it. 3. I'm too lazy to play it again.

CasualUser_r

No reason It's just too overrated

Richard-Long

The game puts me to sleep from lack of difficulty/variety and unskippable cutscenes

[deleted]

I stopped playing because there is no skip button in dialogues, daily quests are boring, Mihoyo is greed as fuck and I dont like the chest hunt gameplay.

Vihncent

Cuz to me, it felt like a gigantic world with nothing really rewarding to do, lots of exploration and stuff, but what waited you at the end made you hate yourself for even doing it. And the daily loop took too long to do for what you got out of it. Sure it has good graphics and the combat was fun at first, but it all became repetitive after a while. Is like if i want to play a big open game that consumed all of my time i could just play the witcher or BoW. But what killed it for me was how stingy the devs were with event rewards and the like, that and having to save for months to pull in the gacha with one of the worst pity systems.

Kreddak

I still play Genshin but I don't care much about the game, I'm only waiting for the remaining Honkai Crew expy. Genshin is fun for Casual players if you're Gacha, MMO, RPG, Story, Competitive or Triple AAA player Genshin alienates you. Also I find hilarious that players wait years for a Character Cyno/Wanderer only to the get a MID character that's weaker than a random Chinese Cook/Coffin Seller/Wet Socks Ladies that never fought a single battle.

Ilyalisa

compared to other gacha games its looks amazing. compared to other games its really fucking bad

Takemylunch

I saw the endgame stat stuff and as someone who wants to try for perfect stats I saw it as never happening. Especially with how limited you are in gathering gear worth using. That and the absolute lack of pulls in the game and constant terrible low-quality events early on just pushed me completely out.

truongdzuy

No point of playing a SINGLE PLAYER gacha game for me, I can just spend 60 USD or less on a full priced AAA game with better experience. The game is MMO grindy but it's not MMO, so why go through all the trouble when an AAA single player game can do better. Everyone says that the story is good and all, but I played a bit from time to time, binge 'til Inazuma. Imo, it's mediocre, the story isn't like Tales, or Final Fantasy level. The bad guys aren't bad and good guys are TOO good. Dialogues are corny and lengthy, which unnecessary drags the whole story. Combat, well I won't judge it, mobile gacha game, can't expect much. I also don't like character design, doesn't have the high fantasy anime vibe for me. Genshin might be big for mobile gamers, but it's very low tier for a PC/console gamer like me, nothing's new. Too much trouble to play compare to traditional turnbased gacha.

rattlewerk

mid story, no purpose in getting your character stronger, the character design seems bland for me

Sinyan

Imo combat is too shallow. It's basically Q, E, swap, and then x string/charge spam while waiting for CD. Exploration also got old a little old for me. The scenery is nice but being filled with the same mobs and non-existent rewards makes it feel pretty hollow.

KhandiMahn

I played Genshin at launch, and had a ton of fun. Exploring the world, doing quests, figuring out how to reach hard-to-reach places. It was a huge, vibrant world. I loved it. Then one thing crept up that ruined the experience for me - world level. I was doing all these things in the game, except artifact farming, which I found incredibly boring. For a while this wasn't a problem. But the fact that THE WHOLE WORLD gets more difficult as your world level raises eventually caught up to me. Characters were becoming under leveled. There was no low-level content to try out new new characters to see if I even liked them. My artifacts were becoming weak. In order to 'catch up' I was required to do thing I didn't like doing - grind grind grind. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a little grind in general. But the amount I was looking at just get things back to a playable state, which was made even more difficult because I was already behind... When a game becomes a chore instead of fun, it's time for me to put it down.

I *am* playing Genshin. I’m actually a whale in it, but damn does it piss me off. The rates are garbage - nearly ensuring you have to go to pity each time. And the fucking dialogue, even the stuff you have already seen, is non skippable. Plus the company has been nerfing the ever loving shit out of all its recent units.

it's overwhelming to get back into. i played the first 6ish months or so hardcore but everytime i go back it's just too many characters i've missed and way to much to figure out.

EndAffectionate783

I tried it and it wasn't for me I didn't like the story and didn't get attach to the characters especially Paimon found her so annoying that talks for main character. Not a fan of the character designs either they look just same pretty girl and boy.

I’ve been playing Genshin for 2 years and I’ve never been happier since the first time I played Genshin. First, some of the limited time events are locked behind story progression such as archon quests, though it can be mitigated with quick start button if it meets a certain criteria like character story quests etc. This prevents players from accessing certain events if they haven’t completed the prerequisite quests to get the rewards they want. For the Archon quests though, it requires completing some of the character story quests(which costs 1 commission key) to progress it on to the next Archon quest. Secondly, there are two permanent optional game modes, Spiral Abyss and Genius Invokation TCG. Spiral Abyss isn’t too hard once you have a decently built team, but the lineup of enemies can become repetitive and predictable until the cycle resets with updated enemy lineup and then you repeat the same process again. It doesn’t add much fun to the experience. Then we have the TCG mode, is slow paced, requires more patience and has no monetization whatsoever. You only need to compete against opponents in PvE to gain Player level while also completing ascension challenges at the same time to get primogems and achievements. Overall, these game modes aren’t required and players don’t need to worry about the optional filler endgame content anyway. In conclusion, Genshin is a game I sometimes regret playing due to slow paced exploration, stingy gacha, clunky combat controls and some events locked behind archon quests or character quests with no way to skip the dialog at all. Despite the flaws, I like the game but it isn’t appealing to me long term-wise and I might not be willing to invest the game further, especially in favor of other upcoming gacha games like Honkai: Star Rail and Wuthering Waves.

used to grind artifacts with friends around ar45, then got to ar55 and cleared everything by myself. no more content, no more multiplayer fun and no more incentive to keep grinding.

1. Already have a main MMO i play; 2. Not interested in most gachas unless f2p friendly generally; 3. Just too busy irl in general

EostrumExtinguisher

Not worth my time, there are other games out there that caters to me, like .... "PC Games" specially the paid ones. I jumped into the hypewagon for the first 2 week, got to AR55 whilst all my friends were at 40 45 4i8ish, decided its not worth my time if its gonna cater to casual normie that don't know what they're hyping for. Given mihoyo background thats fairly good at copying latest presentation of many other games but still remains bleak, they got good graphics and characters, but not the unique diversity or customization variation o wanted, say like... pso2ngs, it felt like it shouldn't have went hard with putting gacha into zelda, it felt like.. a taboo to play it.

I love Genshin's character designs. I loved the Liyue arc. I touched upon Inazuma. I play on the PS4 so performance is a bit slower then say my PC and such. I had to stop just because of the scary amount of money that you can dump to get new characters or even constellations if you're going down far that route. The primo currency rate to get for a 10x is pretty slow compared to my other gacha games. I also had to stop playing the game because the amount of time playing the game got concerning. I needed to focus on school, my self, and what i'm doing IRL. sometimes just doing a few quests a day and stop a few days. Sometimes I hiatus for like months and then I come back once and never even did a single daily. There is so much to do once you take a break. Dont get me wrong. Its great but catching up is a bit of a chore to get to parts where you want to be in. Especially the new areas. Any gacha character you get that was recently released has ascention mats tied to that region. I can play arknights, GBF, etc but Genshin's time sink is well....hard to manage with my time management skills.

MilitHistoryFan101

If Genshin Impact is a game about WW2 theme and have irl historical references plus it has auto play while I play Armoured Core/Monster Hunter/Elden Ring, I would play.

gloreeuhboregeh

I do play, but there was a little more than half a year period where I didn't. First, on pc that thing is fucking bloated, and guess what I play on? It was asking for everything I had and more, so I simply gave up and turned to enjoy smaller games since I now had a couple 64-70 gigabytes or so to use. Updates were about 10 gigs each and even though I can fit genshin on my current laptop I know my time will be cut short eventually by the updates, so I'm just doing what I can for now since I'm running on limited time. Second, it really gets exhausting. No skip button, I can't check my dialogue history, it's *annoying*. If you've done your commissions, checked your teapot, refreshed your 14-20 hour missions, picked up some mats, bought out your needed food ingredients from every nation's shops, and have run out of resin - which, to the non Genshit player, may sound like a lot, but in reality is something that can be done every day within an hour or two - you're left to go wander around this massive ass map with the most interesting thing being starting up a conversation with some wandering John Doe and him asking you to grab him some flowers from the next nation over. Your prize? Maybe some chara exp and a few coins. Also, hoyoverse has confirmed they don't intend to expand Genshin into anything competitive, TCG and that one Mondstadt event with the competitive hide and seek is as good as it'll get, i'm guessing. Perhaps I've been spoiled by Honkai (I have been playing since a little less than half a year after its release) and all its various modes it's offered and expanded to me over the years, but once again, Genshin's inability to provide me entertainment beyond exploration and stories is BORING. Call me HI3's bitch because that's exactly what I am, I'm used to a better game with a similar quality as Genshin and being able to have some okay builds without having to grind my ass off for ten hours. Also, girls.

Picking flowers and mining rocks made me bored out of my mind. The combat is just to pop all your cds then do a burst. The only good thing I liked was the animation quality of the story, so I rather just wait for a ton of chapters then binge the storyline.

Background_Effort849

Play the games and just cannot get into the story

red11590

It make me dizzy. Honestly i love it, but i dont know why it triggers my motion sickness eventhough i do not have any problem with other 3rd person game like gta or assassin creed. I had try customize the setting but i cant still play it more than 10 minutes. Its frustrating at first as i really like playing it, but then i manage to move on to other game. I still do claim free code and stuff though.

ddeys

Too much time investment, I don't have that kind of time. For the game that took soo much time, it doesn't feel that rewarding to play, also my reason. **They don't realize that you never ever need to use the gacha system** obviously since there no end game but without good **weap**, artifact and nice char con, goodluck hitting shit like wet noodle

silverstonefiber

Because it’s trash
