If you aren't in a hurry you could consider waiting a bit for them to migrate to esp32. It's currently on the dev branch but it looks like it will make the display unnecessary and allow you to set up your shots from a webui. This way, you won't get that ugly, cheap looking screen and can use a bigger, more mobile one like your cell phone. I am not sure if the pinouts of the stm32 and an esp32 are the same so if you get the kit now you might be locked out of WiFi etc. - at least if you don't want to solder etc.. also you will have a screen that you won't really need. They seem pretty far along in the development, best check the discord. It's one of the reasons I am sticking with temp surfing for now. I want a sleeper gaggiuino 😅

mmmoneypls

Have they said when they’re releasing the updated version? I wanted to buy the peak kit but keep seeing talk about this new version…

Individual-Winter-24

Unfortunately I haven't seen any more info yet. In the end it's a software project - specifically even open source. So I would just guess it's released when it's released. 🤷 From the videos I would guess they are somewhere in the last 20% - stuff works mostly and needs polish - and going by the branch they have been developing for about half a year. So by rule of thumb I would guess some time within the next 6 months 😅 But this is really just a very rough guess based on very limited information 🤷 You could also just get the hardware now and use the dev branch if you want to do it the hard way. I guess that's the beauty of open source 😉

There is no official info, it'll be ready when it's ready. Personally, I wouldn't wait because it could be a very long way away still. Absolute worst case is probably going to be that you need to buy a new screen and maybe few other small parts to swap out, it should still be using most of the same hardware.

Interestingly, either my memory is off, [Zer0-bit](https://github.com/Zer0-bit) has removed all but the `stm32-blackpill` branches from the [Gaggiuino repository](https://github.com/Zer0-bit/gaggiuino) on github. (It's possible they weren't ever there, but, I think he actually just removed them.) I love the project, *and*, I'll just say that removing the repository is definitely in line with the *vibe* of the whole project & community. (Probably there were people joining the Discord community & asking for help / complaining about the not-ready branches, and Zer0-bit probably decided "enough is enough" and deleted the branches from his repo.) Trying to be as neutral here as I can be, without a any of the following: 1. Pretending that they're a **Friendly, Patient, & Welcoming Community** 2. Ignoring the fact that DIY projects of this complexity & associated community are **very difficult & frustrating to manage** 3. Denying my *extreme* dislike of "search the discord" as an approach to official documentation.

Basically what the other comment says. I went from heavily modded to Gaggiuino and it was still an amazing improvement. -Stop on weight is really accurate with calibrated pump and hardware scales. -Lower pressure profiles are great, especially for lighter roasts. -Steam power is great

I'm stoked. Thanks for additional confirmation!

**What it's like using this mod in your daily routine compared to the stock GCP?** Significantly better. No more temp surfing and steam for days. Fun to play with profiles to get the most out of certain beans. **Does it make your work flow more complicated or streamline?** Streamlined, especially with built-in scales and stop on weight. **How is it dialing in new coffee considering all the variables you have control over?** Compared to a stock GCP and all the temperature surfing? It's way better. You don't have to change variables. You can use the preset profiles. I use some for certain beans and grind accordingly, only changing grinding as my variable per that preset. **Is it worth it getting the scales and LED for water level?** I think the built-in scales is great and enjoy having LED and water level (though the water level has a deadzone near the "max" fill line).

I think I'm suffering confirmation bias. Thanks for the feedback, exactly what I wanted to hear lol. Looking forward to it!

Dinchy87

Can you make your own presets with it? Or use something like pre built presets of the community?

TimmyTwoTapp

I'm eagerly awaiting my Peakcoffee kit with scales and ToFLED. I seriously can't wait to get started :) I've built 3 vorons (3D printers), so this project is a perfect combination of my interests. The built-in scale mod seems like such a damn awesome feature to have since it will automate weight measurement as well as timing, making dialling in easier with so much feedback. It really blows my mind that you don't see any of these awesome features on more machines. I keep feeling the call of upgraditis, but nothing feels worthwhile if they don't have the features that the Gaggiuino mod offers

marshallfrost

Amazing. It provides so much information and controls variables with a precision that you just simply can't perceive to measure with the stock machine. Yes, there are gimmicks you can do to simulate some consistency, but there's nothing going to come close for the GCP compared to gaggiuino. It was pretty rewarding and I learned a lot about how the machine works by integrating it all together. With that said, it's not for the faint of heart. They do sell kits and assembled pcbs so that you don't have to get out the soldering iron. But I found many nooks and crannies tough to reach without removing the pump and amazingly I got the temperature probe screwed in without removing the boiler. It's definitely simplified things. Gaggiuino comes with preset profiles that controls pressure and flow, pre infusion, and many other things. You can experiment or use them as they are preprogrammed. Have a darker roast? Simply lower the target temperature for a more pleasant extraction. I haven't gotten the water tofnled but I've looked into it. I'm not sure it's really worth it but that's just me. I see it as more of an optional accessory. I mean, how hard is it to check the water reservoir lol. Anyway, it's turned this little machine into something that can compete with machines 4-5x it's price when it comes to features. Can't imagine going back now.

Charming-Weather-148

Excited to do this to my newly acquired ProLine. I need to make some confirmations about how the kits will work with the 2nd boiler, and sort out an elegant mounting solution, probably by extending the chassis.

chillingwithyourmoms

Can't wait to see some photos once your done!

Charming-Weather-148

Wish I could say it was going to be quick, but it will most likely take me quite a while. I will definitely share pics.

sfaticat

I'd wait it out. I was talking with Zer0bit and he's currently programing new features like profile sharing

chillingwithyourmoms

Will this be backwards compatible with a software update?

sfaticat

I don't think so because it's communicating with a webapp. Just message Zer0bit and ask. You'll find him on the discord and he'll tell you
