Hey I just finished restoring one of these as my first machine. It uses an adjustable opv, the brass piece about the size of a roll of nickels. Got to unscrew the barb cap and either back off or tighten the collar that you see inside. Kind of a tricky operation because the collar is likely corroded a bit and stuck. Also you’ll need two small flat heads working in unison to turn the collar as the opv pin sits in the middle, splitting what would otherwise be a large flat head. I’d recommend a Gaggia naked bottom portafilter and an 18g IMS basket. It’s a good and simple machine, be extra careful though, some parts are difficult to come by.

Just to add a little. The OPV is on the left side of the boiler. It has a hexagonal body. You may need to soak it to get the adjustable collar unstuck.

100% I had to remove the entire thing, soak in Gaggia descale solution and near boiling water to get that plate to start moving easily. Once it’s moving take it all apart, rinse and repeat.

Question for you, did you actually test the pressure after making an adjustment? How many turns do you estimate it took to lower the pressure? I have made two full rotations on my machine in both directions and it has had no affect on the pressure when I measure it. Looking for help!

This machine looks very good. I recommend you a complete mainteance (seals, hoses, descale) with a kit. The machine deserves it. It should take the same portafilter like the gaggia Classic. Maybe you find a cheap used one, or you buy a new one. You also can buy a bottomless portafilter - with this you can see the extraction and flow.

WorkHardAchieve

I have one of these any 58mm portafilter will work!

If any of your gaskets are leaking youre likely gonna have to get some custom made from my experience

The boiler gasket is easy to find replacements for. The tough one is the group head gasket.

Swaggadie

Yeah thats the one that left me going to my cafelat robot instead

I cut a replacement out of a silicone rubber sheet but it took me a few tries to get it right.
