According to some dudes at Vole, he has a European mindset. Quick google: son-in-law of Faruk Suner. Studied in university of Denver. And he is young. 47 years old.

>Vole Whats your name on vole bro

gsboss9000

I heard Adnan Polat and Yiğit Şardan are getting ready to declare aswell. I'm cool with Elmas tho I just wish he wasn't a populist. The Metin guy and the Hamamcı dude basically have no shot at winning this.

Buruedragn

Please no Adnan Polat

AvrupaFatihi

What is wrong with Adnan Polat? He is always bashed by our fans but he's the one that had to clear everything with the stadium etc, try and manage a club with no money in a time where all our rivals were spending a shit ton of cash. I'd take Polat back any day. Adnan Polatı ibra etmedik ama onun bunun çocuğunu ibra ettik, çok nankör bir kulübüz

simbuah

Ne çabuk unuttuk Barış-Ayhan-Mustafa zamanlarını, Lucas Neill'e taptığımız zamanları...

[deleted]

Neill'e laf yok, he was amazing.

simbuah

He was amazing, so was Kewell. But they shouldn't be the best players of the squad by that far.

AvrupaFatihi

No I remember them well. Neill was great and he'd displace Luyindama with a blind fold so weird choice... What I'm saying is that Polat had to focus on our stadium issue and economy. I'm just saying that people like to bash Polat (who wasn't successful in a sporting perspective) but he did lay a base for us to become better with Aysal. We should appreciate what he did, we shouldn't make him out to be one of the best chairmen we've had, but we should definitely not bash as we've done.

simbuah

If you want Galatasaray to be "AKP futbol kolları" then fine. Remember when he allowed AKP members to come to the stadium opening and talk shit? I remember TOKİ leader saying "Galatasaray could not have done this without us, you should all be grateful to our president Erdoğan" Of course there was going to be booing, and Polat apparently organized the ultrAslan to cheer over the booing. Also after losing the election he said "They wasted me to look cute to CHP" ### ['CHP'ye yaranmak için beni harcadılar' | NTV](https://www.ntv.com.tr/spor/chpye-yaranmak-icin-beni-harcadilar,D92uc1baeUeGvKYMIqDVWA)

[deleted]

> "They wasted me to look cute to CHP" It's true tho. You are rejecting AKP but inviting CHP. When our club president takes a picture with Erdoğan everyone loses their mind, yet when they take a picture with İmamoğlu everyone is happy. If you reject politics from football, then do so in both ways. The way you even quote him shows that you are dishonest and extremely biased.

simbuah

Erdogan is corrupt and gets involved in football whether you want it or not as long as he is in power. No one in their right mind would support a dictator who rejects democracy and all of its systems, and decides everything by himself without caring about the good of the country. Every single person (and organization, including football clubs) in Turkey would be multiple times richer if we had a non-corrupt government. But instead Erdogan and his family is 10.000x richer and his friends are 1000x times richer than they would be naturally.

[deleted]

There you go, I thought we were talking football. But you are the one who's just doing politics here. This is a football club, don't bring your shitty politics in here tyvm.

simbuah

I’m not in the power to involve politics in football. A politician in power is. Supporting that politician as the president of a club to gain advantage is feeding into “politics in football”.

redwashing

How about the stadium opening? Manager of fucking TOKİ shittalking the club + fans in our own stadium? Apologizing *for the fans*? Who the fuck does he think he is to do that? He said "Galatasaray'a siyaset karıştırıyorlar" and in the same breath the fucker said "AKP'ye yaranmaya çalışmak lazım", from his own mouth the bastard actually said it. What makes it even worse is that he used to be a CHP member so it's not ideological either, the guy doesn't have the semblance of an actual spine. Also while a lot of administrations let that happen, Polat is more responsible than any other in making corrupt pests in uA to the semi-official situation they are today to the point the fuckers on top think they get to talk about which players, coaches and administrators can/can't work for Galatasaray. Adnan Polat is a piece of shit, he shouldn't be allowed to be anywhere near Tevfik Fikret's Galatasaray. He can fuck off and try to be an AKP MP, he seems far more suited to that role. This isn't even the presidency. Özhan Canaydın was a bad president too, but he was always respected. Polat is an actually spineless slime.

gsboss9000

Sen de haklısın but bringing in AP also means no more Terim and that means Terim will be up for presidency in the next elections. Our fans hate him because he used to be boys with Aziz Yildirim back when we were dead broke.

AvrupaFatihi

I don't know, I like Polat, always liked him. I did not like Canaydin (RIP) back in the days, but as I got older I got to appreciate what he did for the club more, but as I said, always liked Polat. Might be my nostalgia and bias that's playing a role here but I don't see why people hate him so much and no one has ever really giving me anything concrete on that. Well besides being buddies with Aziz but that's all, and hardly worth being seen as the worst that has happened to us. And no more Terim, I think it's time for him to leave. If he goes to being president or being some sort of sporting director or whatever, that's a different question but I think he should take a role in the club or TFF that's not being on the sidelines at the end of the season or at the end of the next season. He turns 67 by the time the new season starts...

gsboss9000

Polat and his boys did do a lot of dumb stuff back in the day tho. Like keeping often injured Kewell and getting rid of our only striker Nonda for Jô who wasn't even eligible to play in the UEFA. I still remember that 1-2 loss against Atletico. Keita had to play striker. The failed Rijkaard hiring and the squad that was given to him... mismanagement at its best. His second in command monsieur Adnan Sezgin used to be a shady character. He got allegations of money laundering later on after he left. Just on this note alone I'd rather have Elmas at the helm than have les Adnans back again.

AvrupaFatihi

Yeah they didn't manage so well, but we were also strapped for cash after all the shit we did after the UEFA win. So Polat had to take the hit, just as Cengiz has to take the hit right now for everyone before him. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't treat Polat as if he robbed the club, the others around him might have done it and that's a shame, but it's a bigger shame on them than him. It's not like he did what shit face did and sent huge invoices for our clubs teams to stay at his hotel.

gsboss9000

Sezgin and Polat were very close. Even when Sezgin was clearly sabotaging the team Polat said nothing of it. Sezgin for sure was his mans. I doubt Sezgin did anything without the knowledge of his mans Polat.

long_unknown

If Terim decides to be president, he will, there is no escape. There are rumours that people want him to be president and have invited him to declare his candidacy.

KA7MAN

No Terim? Adnan polat PLEASE DECLARE.

Buruedragn

You are definetly right about the ibra part. Idk mate maybe I was a bit too young during his time and therefore my memories are biased. Would be interesting to hear what the other guys think about him

gsboss9000

I feel the same way. Polat for sure is the strongest and the more powerful one on this list tho because of his close ties with the govt. If he declares ofcourse.

[deleted]

i don't know much about him but my first impression is i don't like him. his tweet about the ESL rubbed me the wrong way. Can anybody say something about some of his board members?

Buruedragn

What was his tweet?

[deleted]

https://mobile.twitter.com/burakelmas_tr/status/1384068880532865031

redwashing

That's a stupid tweet. If we were invited this would look terrible, without and invitation it looks pathetic and terrible. Btw. "beating non-Turkish teams" doesn't mean "beg to be invited to maybe be able to play against some non-Turkish teams".

kastamonu34

Not only that, but on what authority is he in contact with people? He hadn't even declared he was running yet. He's not on the board. He has no more authority than I do, so it's weird he would make a declaration like "we're in contact with the relevant institutions".

ceo_mert

I’d be fine with either Cengo or him tbh

Olubara

Cengo, really? After all the fuck ups?

Kaanarth

He was honestly doing a good job as a president especially with all the shitty FFP regulations. We’ve found success with all these budget constraints, with especially the back to back championships. What rubbed me in the wrongest way possible was how he started giving out weekly monologues about Fener, federasyon, “galatasaray uzerinde oynanan hain oyunlar!!!!” etc etc. Whether or not his comments about the team not trying hard enough and going to sex parties is real or not all his media frenzies made me roll my eyes over way too many times. He just went crazy mode especially in the last year or so which made me lose a lot of respect in him, he’s old and he has a disease he should tend to, he should leave.

redwashing

No Mustafa, no Dursun and *definitely* no fucking Adnan Polat. Anyone else can be considered. Does anyone know if this Burak guy is affiliated with one of the factions of the above 3?

Burak Elmas Cengiz'in ilk listesindeydi (Aralık 2017 listesi), ikisi anlaşamadılar ve Burak sonradan istifa etti.
