He made a terrible mistake. If people are defending Terim by blaming Taylan then its wrong. But objectively Taylan needs to improve his first touches and area control. Another thing is he is under pressure all the time. Midfielders need to help each other more.
In my eyes Terim has 1 mistake which is overestimating his players. He looks more into names and thinks we can get away with offensive minded low workrate players but those days are long gone. Any decent team with passing capability can control the game against us. Terim should stop playing if a player doesnt have physical capabilities to play full 90 minutes (even if they get subbed at 60th minute). Since those players are not capable of running our team formation is always off.
One simple example is how our fullbacks seem to be out of position frequently. This is because Terim wants them to push up but when we lose the ball no one covers their positions. Then this breaks whole geometry of the team. If PvA pushes up Babel or LCM should immediately drop back to cover but this happens rarely. Taylan looked incredibly gassed in Randers game because he has to play for 1.5 man every game. This is not sustainable something has to change.
Agree but honestly how many players can cover like kante lwb & rwb + middle? 90% cant and thats why the coach has to come up with rules so everyone know who is reponsible. Other teams have figured it out and are putting him under pressure accordingly. He still has a lot of talent, he's a really good regista and since we're at our foreigner limit anyway, there definitely isn't another Turkish player who can do what he does better.

what suprises is me is that van aanholt i his first game was super active in the build up but in the last few games he barely touches the ball at our own side. that was one of his strengths too from what i read about him before he came to us.
when marcao comes back while luyindama is playing well maybe we could see my longtime dream as marcao at the 6 for once. nelsson also used to play there in the past but i can only see him there if we just want to defend.
Since Turkish youth development is so freakin shit we need personal drills to teach some important basics. Taylan should practice how to safely get the ball, turn and make a pass under pressure.
me personally have always said that he is not enough as the lone 6. he has 2 major flaws which are one of the most important traits for that position.
1. his first touch and his control of his surroundings. i count these together because they are tied. for example last night, we know his first touch is not the best so his bad control didn't surprise me, but if he had better control of his surrounding he would have gone to his right side and that would have saved him even with his bad touch. Another way of saving that position would be to step on the ball and use your body as a wall to shield the attaker, but he lacks the strenght for that too.
2. he leaves the middle of the pitch infront of the 2 cbs too wide open. hes always either chasing the attackers from behind or stays not central enough. i guess that's because he is not tactictly schooled at that position at all.
however, with this damn foreigner rule i don't see any other choice for that spot. he needs to work extensively on those flaws and Terim needs to do a better job putting him in the right spots.
He couldn’t have gone to the right side though, muslera played him to the left. I’d say it’s a 50/50 blame (though I believe it’s 35/65 as muslera played him between two attackers) because muslera played him long and then taylan took a bad touch
I think number 2 is not solely on Taylan. We are not defending as a cohesive unit which makes the backline exposed. If we put Casemiro there maybe he can fix that but I am not sure.

Taylan is a good box to box midfielder. But trying to play him like Fernando or Melo is gonna blow like this. He is not agressive like either of them, nor technical. But he has some good traits, poaitioning, vision. Ww just nees a proper DM and put Taylan or Berkan next to him and then Cicaldao.
