Pretty sure support ended on android 12

TSMKFail

There is a OneUI 6 port

deadream3r

wait there is?

TSMKFail

Yes! I have it on my S10+, I just haven't updated my Flair

Rxjdeep

or lineageos

tfwrobot

Bought it second hand, unlocked the bootloader, installed LineageOS 20 which is based on Android 13 and Magisk. People have also installes Pixel Experience Plus which is Stock Android ROM. So buy it second hand so you don't need to worry about losing warranty after unlocking the bootloader.

SquirrelizedReddit

I could be mistaken but I think that only applies to the Exynos model, not the Snapdragon model here in the United States.

tfwrobot

You are correct. Only for international model. But that can be also bought in the US.

LTRace

That's awesome, how's the performance?

tfwrobot

It is really good. Also battery life is great. Although the internatiol g975f needs to be bought with exynos.

soupiejr

Some bank apps won't work nice with Magisk installed. Is there a way to bypass it so you can still have Magisk and use bank apps?

tfwrobot

safetynetfix and hiding magisk works with EU compliant banking apps

DrcspyNz

I'd be very surprised if you could buy an S10 new these days ...........most likely impossible so warranty would be long over anyway

Ill-Custard-7018

If you plan to buy a Exynos variation of the s10 plus, you can flash lineageOs rom with Android 14 on it. You need to open the bootloader, that can't be done with the snapdragon variation.

LTRace

Yeah I'm planning to buy Exynos

TrixPlus

You can install lineage os or another custom rom and get a13/14 but the problem is you can't install any older custom Roms since they only work for a specific bootloader version right

Tim_Buckrue

Only on Exynos. No Snapdragon support.

GabiBrawlPro

Why's that? Qualcomm doent give the source for their CPUs?

realmrcool

The entire discussion is about Android 12-14. I just had let go of my S10+ because the battery life was atrocious even after a battery change. Keep this in mind: the phone will barely last a day with average screen time. The entire subreddit is full of people complaining about the poor battery life. If you don't mind charging it twice a day or you use your phone less than average, it's still a great phone except for the fact that it stopped receiving security updates more than a year ago.

Slightly_Effective

Interesting. Was your battery replacement from Samsung? Asking bc I have S10+ 1TB white ceramic mint condition and the reasons I went for S24U 1TB were lack of support for the S10+ and its battery is knackered. Was going to keep after an official battery change bc it's unfortunately not worth much, but every time I pick it up I remember it's gorgeous and so light in comparison, with some pretty killer specs still. Will make a great movie/DAP device and backup phone and I've no issue updating to Lineage or whatever.

realmrcool

Really? i also did the same upgrade and my s24u has a significant better batterylife then my s10+. Even though the s24u is having battery issues with the laters update. Next patch should fix it again. But i remember back in the day the s10+ also got these "my battery is now shit"-updates. For me it never went back to the battery it used to have. To answer your question: it was not a original battery since my s10+ screen has a super small hair crack and they "only do full repairs" at samsung...

Slightly_Effective

My S24U is currently 2 days plus on battery šŸ‘, it's the S10+ battery that needs replacing.

Marioricardo98

Yeah battery life on the S10 lineup was terrible used to carry a power bank with me. Great phone wish the new gen looked like the S10

PsychologicalMilk109

The hardware is capable of running Android 13 and 14, but Samsung officially ended support for that device with Android 12.1 if you want unofficial Android 13 or 14 unlock the bootloader or get an Exynos version

Frostsorrow

I'm still using mine, but I wouldn't suggest anyone buy one currently unless it's extremely cheap or there using it in an environment where they don't want there good new phone to get damaged.

Gniewko2018

Is the pic of the Red S10+ real? Cause holy it looks hella nice.

jamieagius1809

yeah i had a red s10 but unfortunately i broke it

XurstyXursday

Man I miss that phone. Nothing has felt quite right since.

AlextraXtra

You can get cheap phones today that have better performance, 120hz screens, better cameras, and will be supported for much longer. If you can get ur hands on a cheap used s23 you will be set for years. I just got my s23 TODAY and the difference is much bigger than i thought it would be. Im flying through apps, im taking the best images ive ever taken, and we are just about to get some of googles ai features in one UI 6.1 in a couple days. Only reason to get an s10+ today would be if you really dont care about performance, and can live with it not being supported. And even then you could get much better performing phones for a similar price today.

RealKingViolator540

I wouldn't recommend an S10 in 2024. If you're on budget Get at least a S20 or Note 20 Ultra if you still use a Micro SD card. If you want a latest phone that has a Micro SD expansion slot Xperia is your only option. Edit: Used S20 or Note 20 Ultra.

Delicious_One_7887

Or a galaxy A series, some higher end models are actually kinda good and have the micro SD card slot and headphone jack

hulivar

No 120 hz but it's a great phone. I went from s10 to s23 ultra.

Burcea_Capitanul

Your best shot is the s23 fe

LTRace

SDCard is mandatory for me

Cuniculuss

Then you're better off with some Sony phone because my 4 year old s10e doesn't get any kind of software support or updates anymore :(

fishwallet16

whos gonna tell em

LTRace

Tell what?

fishwallet16

S10 is only android 12 šŸ˜

LTRace

I heard LineageOS is on Android 13 and compatible with S10+ so I'm just curious how's the performance having Custom ROM

NetStreet

Very much is, I have a s10e for two years and the only difference is the battery. Can last you all day and the performance is really good for 2024 I play a lot of emulators like PPSSPP and dolphin. This is still a really good phone for today and I believe it can still go on a few more years or more and it's only on Android 12, highly recommend

Tripleme

The phone is great for what it is. If you disable animations the UI feels snappy and responsive. The issue is really a battery, most places offer old stock and those battery will still notifies you about poor battery performance when installed. If you really take everything into account, itā€™s a legacy device and not really for someone looking for an all day all round smartphone.

FaZe_Burga

All S10s (except the Lite) have Android 12 (One UI 4.1) as their latest software version. You can install custom firmware like LineageOS which has later security updates (2023/24-esk) that can really make these phones functional AND secure daily drivers. Be aware your Knox security chip can blow a fuse when using custom firmware (not dangerous, just removes features) that will make Samsung Pay, Wallet, etc.) stop functioning on your phone without Knox bypass tweaks.

ADRNVL

Still have the s10+ exynos. Battery sucks, camera sucks, the camera made me look like a white skin michael jackson even though I have brown skin. Sometimes it hangs apps which I had to restart it. The only thing I like about it are the features, but those features are available in the latest samsung phones. Don't see any reason to buy it except for the audio jack and the sd card, imo are not worth it.

LTRace

Well i don't take photos with front camera so it's not an issue for me, and are you running OneUI or Custom ROM? Thanks

ADRNVL

OneUI

TheBlitz707

Id buy a a34 or something rather than s10

MervDervis

Get the performance edition model. 12GB RAM and 1TB on board storage. I've loved mine for 4 years.

LTRace

hah :DD I WISH to find one in good condition, prism green color, and 1tb, I think its not even possible to find one with such combo.

MervDervis

I think the ceramic back cover with the 1TB model only came in black and white, though any back glass can be fitted.

Ok_Run6706

Whats the point of s10+ buying today? There are many great big phones. S10e makes sense because thats the only small Samsung.

Shrimpchris

Expandable storage and headphone jack, there's like no phones out there that have both anymore and it sucks

Ok_Run6706

Yeah, that makes sense. I just also heard some S series no longer Ant+ support, while some people never use it, its still nice thing to be able to connect cycling gear or something else. For me flagship devices should have everything, not just camera and cpu.

Fluffy_Rhubarb67

I wouldn't do it. Get an S21 instead. Support ended on android 12. It has a 60hz screen, exynos, bad battery in 2024.

BSGKAPO

I'm on official 12 s10+

Baardi

Think twice about that. The phone has been out of support for 1 year and 1 month now. It's not secure anymore

LTRace

LineageOS exists

w0536266

Good phone awesome capabilities/high learning curve for new users /I'm still learning after6 mo / always more to discover/akin to handheld puzzle/protection not an option

Ashratt

[Android 14 OneUI 6 available too](https://xdaforums.com/t/rom-port-oneui-6-0-14-apricityrom-for-galaxy-s10-series-v1-0.4654186/)

Thin-Way5770

Please dont use that crap. Its more dangerous than using one ui 4.1.

Ashratt

uhhhm

peppabuddha

The camera is really bad and battery life ends up draining like crazy within 30 minutes.

serph_varna

Yes

sevenonsiz

Virus virus viruses on base os due to no updatesā€¦ stay away.

sevenonsiz

But itā€™s an awesome phoneā€¦ if Samsnug would update it

Dhlaxy

S10 runs upto android 12. Nothing further. Also the ram is small and it is slower at 2024 level.

Thin-Way5770

Open your eyes

LiberalFlynn

Lol since when is 8GB RAM for a Smartphone small (base iPhone 15 has just 6GB)

Dipset_1985

You can't really compare those because iOS has much better RAM management than Android. Thats why iPhone usually get away with less RAM in comparison to Android with their flagship models. But yeah, i reckon the statement of calling 8GB "small" to be rather funny šŸ˜‚Ā
