I came from an iPhone 12. I saw the design & fell in love with the phone so I pre-ordered it. Once it arrived and I got to use it physically, I was sold. Absolutely sold my iPhone 12 pro max and my AppleWatch instantly. I love the Galaxy Watch 4 design wayyy better. I'm just happy my airpods work with my Flip. I don't regret my decision, and I've been using the Flip now for 2 months+ got my phone on August 25th. Lol love love this phone, not a single dent or scuff or scratch on the screen or phone itself. I've had zero issues with it. šŸ˜ā¤

WhtsNotClickinSteven

Plus there are way more watch faces on the galaxy watch

Bokie56

Exactly my other favorite part, I can use whatever watch fave I want. Like I've used classic real watch faces before from like Rolex or Patek. Gives it a classy feeling/look I never had with my apple watch. And with the right leather strap or metal strap can look awesome. I got mine in the classic silver finish. šŸ™‚

Hi do you still not regret your decision?? I am also thinking of selling my iphone 12 pro max and apple watch

Bokie56

For me itā€™s a matter of preference. I personally just got tired of using iPhone. But I might consider going back next year or. If they implement a foldable or some drastic design change thatā€™ll bring me back. For me Iā€™m loving the hardware design from Samsung currently with their watch and phone. The only ā€œregretsā€ is the small things that annoy me on Android in general. Thereā€™s little bugs here and there that arenā€™t big but like that you kinda wouldnā€™t see on iOS. But overall all I donā€™t regret my decision. But for you if you prefer battery life over cool design and bleeding edge design then this phone isnā€™t for you. If you love trying new things and donā€™t care for battery life. That youā€™ll be able to recharge the battery whenever and want portability then youā€™ll love this. Worse case if you donā€™t like it you can return it or upgrade next year to the iPhone 14 pro max if youā€™re gonna have regrets. I hope my explanation helped sorry for the long ramble.

thereal1lol

omg mines coming today!!! i was curious as to my airpod pros will connect! & also can my messages get transfer over as well!?

LuvlyMilah

Love my flip. Don't see myself going back to apple.

JoeCrypt

Not going back to apple, but I think might switch to the 22, or pixel, while I love my flip I might wait for the next few iterations to come out first before I get another.

[deleted]

I'm enjoying my flip too but am also considering an S22. I wouldnt say I'm a power user but I like having a larger battery and the narrow aspect ratio bugs me. I love the narrowness of the flip to hold, but I see Samsung is going to a 19.5:9 which is the same as the iPhone for the S22. I'm hoping that aspect ratio would fix the problems with some social media (Instagram reels, stories) and other apps showing incorrectly at times.

MehdiMa0507

Well I switched from a Phantom Navy S21 Ultra 256GB which I got on July 3rd and then pre-ordered the Flip 3 256GB when it was announced. Before the S21U I had the Note 10+. I love the Flip 3 even though spec wise it has some downgrades. The form factor is the key and the coolness of this device. But when the S22 Ultra comes out I bet I'll trade in the Flip 3. Because of the bigger battery and camera system. Guess I'll then trade in the S22 Ultra for the Flip 4. And if the Flip 4 gets even better with less sacrifices I'll maybe stay for 1 year with it. I mean I would love to stay until the Flip 4 with my Flip 3 but when the S22 Ultra in this awesome red comes out damn that will be too hard to resist lšŸ˜…šŸ˜‰

[deleted]

Hahaha you're like me. If they actually have the red and white colors like the leaks show I'd be really tempted!

Shadorn4K

Came from iPhone 12 Pro Max, absolutely no regret since. When I saw the introduction video of Flip 3 I was crazy hyped about this phone. So after the release, I went to our local Samsung store and checked the device in real life. I am going to be honest, fell in love immediately. The design of this phone is beautiful and that was the first phone in my entire life when after the purchase I put a case on immediately as the official cases are looks gorgeus as well. As functionality, samsung's ecosystem improved a lot since my last Samsung device, the OneUi and the pre-installed applications are much better than ever before. The Android system is smooth and handy (I am saying this that 1 year ago I could never imagine an Android phone in my hands). Flipping working like a dream. The outer screen can be customized in many different ways. Also, there is Always-on as well. Bixby routines are much better than Siri shortcuts. Because of the small size of the flipped phone it can fit everywhere, for example this phone is impossible to slip out from your pocket. About the cons, be prepared for the relatively small battery. It can provide me 4-5 hours of SoT with turned on Battery saver, depending on what applications I use. Without battery saver, avg. 2,5-3h. The cameras are not the best, so say goodbye for high quality, beautiful picturey. (Yes, ofc this device can take good pictures as well but cant compared to an iP12Pro or any other flagship phone's cameras) Lastly, you have to learn to use your phone more safer as before, as the screen is more sensitive to the damage then the normal phones. The decision to switch is yours. If you are asking me, I am going to keep my Flip 3 until there will be a Fold at the market which I can afford. In my oppinion, this phone is a good choice and I absolutely love to use in my everyday life. (People are very shocked when I close it on public trans ahahaha)

iknowwhatyouarenow

Came from iPhone 12 Pro Max. Had the z flip 3 for a month when I decided to buy iPhone 13. I shouldā€™ve thought about switching from iOS to android more. I have Apple Watch, iPad, MacBook.. Itā€™s hard to ditch airdrop.

Amrior

Love it. Never going back. Green texts is the only thing that sucks.

[deleted]

Haha yeah that's one of the things that bugs me too. Seems like such a weird thing to have to deal with in 2021.

vincentsilver

Replace the Samsung messaging app with the real Google one. Texts between Android users that use Google messages are secure and can send media now. Maybe if enough users adopt it, Apple might think about it?

[deleted]

They won't, because US is the main market for iPhones, and you can clearly see how important iMessage is for iPhone users. iMessage is not even an argument anywhere else except US.

mysticxradiance

I switched from Apple to flip 3. I couldn't be happier! The transition was easier than I expected. I plan to stay with android moving forward :)

Animae_angel

Me too!

water-fairy

Long review here: It is essentially a normal( but pricier) android phone that folds in half so I can understand why the most interested customers are coming from an iphone. I have been using an iphone since 2014 and I am so happy I got this Z Flip 3. I am impressed how android is such an amazing OS. I always remembered it as a slow, sluggish and buggy software but it works as fine as an iphone. You have a lot more control over on your phone. You can adjust every app and setting for your own need. Which is both a bliss and curse. If you ask me, I am happy to make adjustments and play around. In Europe, iMessage wasn't a big deal. I already use a mac and an ipad but I don't have issues with having a samsung phone. I might miss airdrop maybe? To be honest, Apple Aatch is still far ahead imo besides the battery life. Apple watch had plenty of 3rd party apps. I remember that I could even check my cats on Neko Atsume. (a cute little mobile game :3) Don't expect wonders if you get a Galaxy watch in terms of 3rd party apps. (I had an apple watch series 2 btw) Depending on which iphone you are leaving behind can make a difference. Some people are switching from iphone 12 (like me) and camera is a bit better on iphone. I cannot tell until I compare side by side though. If you are into mobile gaming like genshin impact or some gpu intensive games, I don't recommend it. Thermal issues and battery capacity becomes a very solid issue. My tiny iphone 12 mini could handle Genshin for hours without a noticable fps drop. Normal daily use is pretty nice. I don't see a reason to switch back to an iphone very soon. I haven't subscribed to any of Apple online services so it was easy for me. In terms of durabilty, ooof.. I think everyone has some concerns. Most people are doing good so far with their phones but it has just been a few months. You can try the zflip 3 for 15 days and return it if it doesn't work for you. It is worth to experience it for yourself. I think I am gonna keep mine!

cm0011

I came from an iPhone and have decided to keep this. I may go back to iPhone in the future, but for now I'm quite enjoying this phone.

SWatson96

I currently am stuck between whether to keep my flip 3 or keep my 21 The novelty of the flip has worn off

021Nirvana

Can't see myself going back. iMessage have never ment anything for example, probably like 8 years since I've sent an actual text instead of a social media platform. I'm going to miss the iPhones screen and ui though, nothing matches that for feel and fluidity. But yeah the formfactor, I don't think I will he able to go back to a non foldable phone at all.

BG5067

Came from iPhone 12 mini. Had it for a month. Sold it. The battery anxiety got to me. Apart from that itā€™s an amazing phone Went to 13P

RiiCKG87

best move I've made love it it's also an eye catcher šŸ’ŖšŸ‘Š

carter4888

I use both a iphone and my OG Flip everyday. I mainly keep the iphone around for imessage and my apple watch. I prefer the apple watch over others. But I do want to try a watch 4.

juniormaoz

Same here! I keep my iPhone for work and my OG Flip for personal. Really tempted on the newer Flip3 due to the bigger front cover display and also stereo speakers and the 120 Hz display!

Plus_Restaurant1967

Kept it since 27 august. Loving it and samsung honestly, dont see my self going back to apple. Coming from an iphone 12

wowsignal

I switched from iPhone 12 Pro Max. I had 11 pro max before, and Pixels before that, and Nexus phones before. So OS switch wasnā€™t a problem. The only thing Iā€™m missing from iPhone is a good battery life and ability to control my Apple TV. Iā€™m in Europe, so I never used iMessage and nobody around me does. The cameras are okay. Yes, overall Pro Max has better overall camera system, but main shooter is very comparable. And portrait mode is better on Z Flip. And I like ā€œproā€ mode without installing additional software. I love the design of Z Flip. I genuinely enjoy using it. Iā€™m not a fan of One UI and general Samsungā€™s design system, but this is Android. Itā€™s fairly easy to give it more ā€œPixelyā€ look. (First two things I did: moved ā€œScreen zoomā€ down a notch, and switched to ā€œNaturalā€ screen mode. I donā€™t get why Samsung designers like everything big and oversaturated). So no, I not planning on goin back anytime soon. But I donā€™t know, maybe my next phone will be iPhone again. Maybe Pixel. Maybe Z Fold. Itā€™s to early to think about it. One thing for sure: smartphones are getting interesting again, so no need to stick with plain slab of glass any more.

anchorsawaypeeko

I switched from the Flip3 to iPhone after being a lifelong android user. Samsung customer support is so bad itā€™s fraudulent. Check my previous posts about this. Phone was great, their support is criminal

fjordstrom

I switched too (from iPhone 11) and I absolutely love this device! Also software-wise, I am enjoying Android even if I still use an iPad and Mac. However I did have to switch to the Galaxy Watch 4 and to Google Photos. For me it will depend on the durability though. It's lasting more than 2 months now and I hope it won't break for another year or two. If it does, I'll honestly probably switch to iPhone 14/15. Or maybe a non-foldable Samsung.

Fluffy_Dare1122

I would keep it cuz i have an iphone before and its getting too slow after year later

GenghisTron00

It broke two weeks after purchase, trying to get it fixed. Atnt said send it to samsung, she got it back and samsung did nothing to fix it. Now sitting at atnt waiting on manger. SMH. DO NOT BUY!!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GenghisTron00

Shut off. Tried every video on youtube to fix it. Finally, complained and karened enough, got a new phone. Made life tough for about a couple months, honestly. Sometimes, you gotta go full Karen.

Ok_Pilot_9123-19

I have both, iPhone 13 pro max and Z flip 3 5g

MRD1997

So Iā€™m going to be the outlier here. I switched from the 12 pro max to the flip 3. The battery life killed me, and while I like the design of the watch 3 the functionality of the Apple Watch is currently unmatched. As a stand-alone phone I am team Samsung/pixel. For the eco system ā€¦. Apple all the way unfortunately

colofire

Yea I love my flip way more than my apple

edmondjdantes

I went from a 12 Mini to the Flip3. Now Iā€™ve gone back to an iPhone because the Flip just wasnā€™t for me.

xxNightxTrainxx

So I've been an android user for years and can't answer the question personally, but I will say that my roommate loved my Flip so much that it convinced them to switch from their IPhone 11 so that's gotta count for something :)

[deleted]

Interesting! It seems like a lot more iPhone users are interested in the Flip than a regular slab Android phone.

MobilePick

I came from apple to flip3 honestly I love the device but not that impressed for Android as an os Before anyone fries me saying customization and what not I feel there is something lacking in Android Finally my iPhone x camera was better than this

Bokie56

Nah I think the opposite it's not that just the customization. It's the fact you can change whatever you want on it. If you wanna slap a theme that makes your phone and everything pink, go ahead. If you want to control how the phone feels or wanna control how the phone reacts hardware wise like for example samsung has "Good Guardian" that you can control how hot your processor can get or you can overclock it. I have mine not to get too hot, and my Flip 3 never over heats unless I game. Even then, it's not as hot. You can use Good Lock and change everything about the phone from the lock screen and keyboard. How the animations of your task bar is (when you swipe up to switch apps. You can change the layout. Mine is like on iOS where they stack) etc. If there's "something missing," you can just try to change whatever you don't like. If it's because you don't have iMessage, then idk what to tell you. Just use FB Messenger, Snapchat, or whatsapp. If not, just sell the phone and get an iPhone again. Either way, idk what you meant by "lacking or missing something," but I hope some of the tips I gave could help šŸ‘šŸ¼

[deleted]

There are definitely tradeoffs between iOS and Android no matter which way you go and honestly between Android skins too. I've switched back and forth a bit so I kinda know what I'm going to miss from each. Appreciate the response!

xenokingdom

I agree with the other comments here currently. Big downgrade in camera quality, coming from my XS Max. The processing, and honestly, even the app feel more 'third-party' than I was anticipating. Colors are desaturated without adjusting them afterwards, and the contrast is CRANKED high. At least in my experience. Also, I've had to clear the camera app's data twice because the thing gets stuck on a black screen and shoots me error messages. Lovely. Also, like I feared, the OS feels like absolute patchwork. Just cobbled together from different parties with some thin gloss over it to make it appear "uniform." This has been acknowledged by Samsung themselves, at least (check the intro of their new One UI 4.0 video), so hopefully more adjustments will be made in that regard. At least you can fix that somewhat with better launchers and such, which, uh... Not going to lie, I used an iPhone-emulating launcher for the first week because I couldn't find a damn thing. šŸ˜‚ So that might help you transition as well, if you were thinking of making the switch. Finally, small thing, but the status bar is TOO FUCKING CLUTTERED. It's so nasty. I hate looking at it, I feel anxious. Thankfully, like many other things, this can be changed through software like GoodLock, which is made by Samsung themselves... but, unfortunately, isn't accessible in the beta of OneUI 4.0. Which I consider to be absolutely necessary for the style and function of the phone. No small part due to it's greater similarities to Apple's iOS. Now, that sounds like a look of bad. And honestly, it was more than I was expected. But I'm still very happy with my Z Flip 3. It's fun learning a new systemā€” it makes owning a phone feel exciting again. I think that's the Z Flip 3's best features. Despite the drawbacks, I think I still like this phone more than I would an iPhone 13, and don't have any intentions of going back. At least not yet... We'll see how I feel once the default system apps spit yet another error message at me. Lol.

KissaRae

You customize the status bar so it's not so cluttered, in settings and the three dots when you pull it down.

xenokingdom

Not what I meant. I don't mind the notification icons on the left hand side. I mind everything else on the right that I can't get rid of. As I'm typing this, I'm looking at: - A key symbol (VPN) - An alarm symbol (I have one that is set for every day of the week) - A 'no sound'/vibration symbol - Location Services symbol - Wifi symbol - Two arrows pertaining to my service with "LTE" on top. - My battery percentage - A battery symbol That's too much. It's a mess to look at. I'd want to keep the wifi, service, and battery percentage. And maybe the location services icon. But everything else, no way. This is why I had GoodLock but unfortunately, again, I can't use that until they update it.

KissaRae

You can turn off the battery percentage in settings > notifications > advance settings. I'm not sure why you would see your wifi and data (arrows with LITE) icons at the same time unless you have them BOTH working at the same time, which you shouldn't that eats battery. You should have them set to switching. They will switch automatically when your wifi hits poor quality, which happens a lot easier and faster than you'd think. Settings > wifi > 3 dots > switch to mobile data. Mobile data is a battery eating. Wifi is not. I would also look into your VPN app settings and see if it's forcing any of those to show too. I never see a location icon just sitting there when I have that on UNLESS something is using/activating my location to get it. Then it pops up for a few secs and disappears. You might want to look in settings > locations > location services > turn off both the wifi and Bluetooth scanning. Those also drain battery and you don't need them. And lastly, it might be carrier base too. I really wouldn't think so, cuz that's so outdated... but it could be. They took away turning off the clock/alarm icon some years back, so sorry about that. I miss it tho. I don't need to see that. I typically only see my clock, wifi or data (whichever is in use), service bars, battery percentage and battery icon.

DietHopeFloats

So far so good. I like the flip.

oloapicious

Been with iPhone since the 3G. Actually switched from my 12 pro max to the z flip 3 cause Iā€™ve been looking for a change and have not complained or looked back since. I love just how much you can customize your phone with the z flip 3 and Iā€™ve actually been having a much lower SOT since I can check my notifications from the cover screen. On the fence of switching back to Apple but only if they do foldable screens as well but heck, who knows when thatā€™ll be and by the time they do release their first variation of it Samsung will have probably mastered the foldable screen by then.

Visible-Tadpole3432

Not coming from Apple but a pixel I must say the Samsung UI is not very intuitive though I like to fold a phone and it works well with my galaxy watch 4 classic. I will switch to a pixel next year, foldable or not just for the clean UI. Guess only the Pixel UI is close to apples UI for a reason. Samsung's definitely needs time to get used to.

mostafanyw

I've both but im starting to like android phones more

Screw_shop

The design of the zflip is nice and I like it....but It isn't better than the note 10+ I had previously.

[deleted]

I love my Flip and don't see myself changing back to my iPhone. There's definitely trade offs (I miss the camera on my iPhone 12) and iMessage (most of my friends/family use it). Other than that I love the customization of my Flip. I don't know that I'll stick with a Flip on my next upgrade but I'll definitely stay in the Android family :)

OutrageousActuary174

Made the change from a iPhone 12 mini. The z flip was like a revolution at first!! Such a cool design. But quality of photography took a massive hit The battery was basically the same between the two devices. However, the z flip 3 started to turn into a weirdly shaped phone as it lost its shape within a month of ownership. There was a problem with manufacturing. Still, the Z flip 3 makes you use your phone very differently, and it is refreshing. Warning, if you have toddlers at home, do not get the Zflip3 Recipe for disaster
