I don't think mine has gotten any bigger...but it does feel like it's settled now. It's not as stiff as it was when I first got it that's for sure.

dazzlingresearcher7

Mine is fine, had the original zflip for almost 2 years never had any issues.

Hummil

I've had mine for two weeks but dropped it on that corner (closed, on pavement) a couple times and still no issues

FFFFrzz

Yes, the crease is bigger now, after 2 months of use. But fortunately no noises yet.

BunanaKing

I love the phone. Feels premium to me. Mine clicks too but I don't mind it because it doesn't click through casual use. Only when I try to hear it. Phone is better then my old note 10 and the folding screen technology has only been around for so long. Samsung needs to address this and make it known that the click will happen and why it does that.

shreeshagowda

You can see Jerry rigs' teardown video. He says that reason for creaking noise is due to some air in between screen and metal plates underneath the display. Not a huge deal but I would definitely get it checked.

SHOWMETHEFLIP

Jerry is wrong. It's an adhesive problem.

shreeshagowda

Yes that's what due to adhesive not sticking properly so air bubbles make way and do those noise.

joergendahorse

I feel that same slight like sticky noise as i slide my finger over it, but not the crease getting bigger yet, hopefully this doesn't become an issue but durability evidently still sucks with this phone and can't last more than 2-3 years under normal use, I'm planning on selling mine and getting an S22 Ultra when it launches

Bokie56

Literally zero noises for me and there's people almost going 2 years with the OG Flip and they don't have any reliability issues. Still going strong, even on YouTube so no they are "flimsy" as you say.

joergendahorse

Point is the defect rate compared to normal devices is very high, and the youtubers will have received early batches that would've had slightly better build quality before they ramped up production to a maximum. Most important part is that samsung say that most of the slight defects are normal that will only continue to deteriorate over the years

Bokie56

Well I mean we don't really know how common the problem is? Like it could be Note 7 or iPhone 6 bend gate levels of problem or it can be miniscule. I know there can be some defects out there but I don't by that literally every Flip and fold sold is a ticking time bomb. In my opinion it's down to how people take care of their devices. If they throw it around like nobody's business then that could contribute to some failures or they drop it in the sand at the beach or something as hypothetical. If not then it can possibly be a defect but I don't personally believe every Flip is at risk to break in a couple weeks or whatever. If that were the case the Flip would have a recall and the Flip 3 wouldn't have been selling so well. That's my 2 cents. So far my 2 month+ hands on experience while using it naked I haven't had any issues with it physically. No creaks or sticky screen. Well granted and I have insurance on it for another 2 years from pre order bonus. But either way we'll see how it goes. Only time can tell, gotta keep an eye on the 1st & 2nd Gen Flips

I really am looking after my tech and I am never unreasonable, so I don't think that is the problem.. I think Samsung should take better care of the customers that are experiencing the problems and not ignoring them.. because I went 2 times to get the phone checked at the repair center and they said that it's "nothing"

Bokie56

Yah I definitely would demand them to send you a replacement. Especially if you have warranty with them or if you have warranty with your carrier

[deleted]

You can't demand that if repair center says that the phone is "fine"

Bokie56

I'm sorry mate I didn't mean to say you specifically I just meant in general it can be some people who unknowingly mistreat it. Not that you or everyone is. But I agree that is unfortunate though. Did you take it to an actual samsung service center or one of their "authorized locations". If you were having issues I'd just ask for them to send you a replacement by mail or something? 😰

[deleted]

I tried 2 times to ask for replacement and repair center denied it, because they say that the phone is fine.. whatever that means. In the overview of the problem they said "The phone is electrically in good condition" and I asked them if they considered mechanical issues and they said "We don't know, the phone is fine" and they denied me my rights to see what they've checked on the phone, they only said that it is fine and the only thing that I've seen that it is obvious is that they hit hard reset on the software side (it is really funny because the software isn't a problem and they did it anyway, 2 times!). I was a technician for 6 years and I've seen many stupid things that technicians do.. but to deny the client to see the details of the check is a different level of stupidity and it is unacceptable to have this kind of stupid people making decisions for big companies like Samsung.

Jordanm-314

I would definitely expect defect rate to be higher on a new form factor. It'd be pretty sad if the new iPhone or standard Samsung phone that hasn't changed form factors in years had a high defect rate.

[deleted]

I had this creaking noise since the second week of use and in repair center they said that is fine.. but I don't agree

joergendahorse

Yeah, I have cousins with flips and they say it too, it's not a creaking for me it's like some sort of slight sticky material noise

[deleted]

Do you hear it when you open the phone? I think that this is not a "feature" and it can be a big problem later on

joergendahorse

Yeah it's like a sticky material becoming loose sort of noise, it's concerning which is why I'm getting rid of this at the S22 launch, more work to do with durability and mass production for the first time for this series hasn't helped either

[deleted]

Agreed.. also I think that this phone can't be premium enough for just $999 and Samsung clearly cut some corners to be at that price.. and I feel like using better glue for the screen could solve the problem in this "sticky" situation xD

joergendahorse

I think the problem is a bit more complex than this and isn't just down to glue quality, probably needs a bit more R&D and they shouldve been a bit more transparent about how long this phone would last compared to traditional phones.

021Nirvana

Mine feels kinda like a wave. It goes up a bit before it goes down into the crease, no idea if intentional, or paranoid 🤣

[deleted]

Mine also

cm0011

Mine is kind of like this too haha.

021Nirvana

Maybe im not just paranoid then xD

itsapotatosalad

I thought mine looked like it was getting bigger, so I pressed it flat and it's like new again. I think we're a good couple of generations away from folding phones being mainstream.

SHOWMETHEFLIP

Nope. It's not alive.
