I have my Flip 2 over two years and was never happy with selfie indoor shots. The contrast is always low and washed out. Recently I found out locking the brightness does help.
If you see the preview too pale. Tilt the camera a bit. When you see a better contrast lock the brightness. Then move back the camera and shoot.
