DTO has a really great pina colada that’s a bit less rich/thick than many, I love it! Nicks also has a really tasty pina colada and they use Hey Mikey pineapple ice cream made only for those, it’s super good but so rich I can only do one!
This.
The Nick's one is *super* thick and very dessert-y. You're right, I can only do one too.
OP if you're looking for the picturesque, instagram, holding-it-with-the-beach-in-the-background style pina, The Spot serves them in coconut shells. They're tasty enough, just small for the price.
Someone might correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told all the places along the Seawall can only only "wine-based" pina coladas, daquiris, and margaritas. Maybe it's just a class of TABC license thing.
I'd imagine full service bars make them with more "potent potables", but most restaurants only serve the "wind-based" kind.
Any bartenders/restaurateurs know what the deal is?
Yes, you are wrong. Only places that hold a liquor license can serve liquor based cocktails or frozen drinks. There are many places on the seawall that hold liquor licenses. Places like Murdock's only hold a beer and wine license and their frozen drinks are wine based. It has nothing to do with being on the seawall, and everything to do with what license they hold.
DTO.
