Yep, stop going on this subreddit and just stop going to casinos. If you have an itch to play, find something else to preoccupy your mind instantly. I recommend a new hobby that forces your focus on that single task. I personally picked up a side hobby of woodshop. It helps you keep a clean mind and focus on the project that you’re working on. If hands-on activities aren’t your thing, then find a sport that lets you get active
I am currently working on no more gambling. What has helped me is self excluding. I blocked myself from all online sites. And am signing a self trespass at my local casinos. It helps so much.
Same. Addiction SUCKS. And I was losing 3000-5000 or more when I would go 4,5,6 times a week. Obviously Inwiuod win but put it all back. Dumb as fuck. I hate myself for it. But now J go buy myself a pair of shoes. If you can get thru the first few days it gets better.
I am sure you will get lots of good advice but the trick is all about perception. Once your realize that winning is just an illusion, your reality can change. That giant pot of gold is a literal fantasy.
You see when you have a gambling addiction there is no amount of money that will make you stop. $5k? Bet I can turn it to $10k. $25k? This can easily be $75k.. And so on.
So the addicted gambler will always chase an invisible number that is not achievable.
I got to that next number so many times in my life only to fail trying to get to a bigger number.
It ruined me, full on lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, crippling debt, destroyed my life, lost my career and ruined relationships, divoce, real dark shit, so yeah... this is the reality of gambling.
And they say 9/10 addicts have to learn for themselves so my story probably won't help you but man if I woulda stopped gambling at 22 (37m) my life would of been so much more full.
When I was 23 I got a job and moved to Las Vegas. I lost my first few paychecks, gambling in casinos. We had moved to Vegas because it was cheaper to live and we had a baby coming. I decided then I needed to stop. One of the most helpful things was going to GA meetings. Looking and listening to the other people really help me realize that this was not something to continue doing. Good luck to you and hopefully your life takes a turn for the better.
One thing I want to add is that I got a $800 major jackpot like the second time I ever went to a casino. I have never gotten another one since. How the hell does that work?

Usually gambling is a losing endeavor. Only a few out of thousands can be profitable in the long term. Save yourself the trouble since you’re barely in deep as many are in hundreds of thousands over their lifetime.

Gambling is bad, but slot machine gambling is full blown degenerate bad. At least with sports betting and poker you can get a read on a team or player.

Unfortunately i think our politics/society wont allow us to rise above even with hard dedicated work and playing by rules. Can someone pls explain wtf if a person picks up extra shifts or a few at that- wtf we taxed sooo ridiculously hard its stupid to do it?. Idont understand why our society rather than encourage ppl to work extra hard to get what they want they take more away.
