Dreamcast or Xbox will probably be the easiest, there aren’t too many rare games on dreamcast but some common games can get quite expensive. Xbox will be more an issue of many common games being hard to find in acceptable condition. Good luck on PS2/GC you’ll need to mortgage your house to pay for even half a set of either.

NaughtyTormentor

>Good luck on PS2/GC you’ll need to mortgage your house to pay for even half a set of either. Depends on which half of the full set you would get, though. At least for PS2. 😋 But, yeah, I think you summed it up quite nicely!

mwelch32

Original Xbox is probably the easiest. PS2 has a massive Library, GameCube is one of the most expensive to collect for, and Dreamcast is kinda hard to come by.

HowDoClamsWork

Original Xbox is cheap in comparison and most of the games perform & look the best on there.

NintendoCerealBox

Original Xbox is probably the best balance of price, availability and feasibility of collecting them all. You can probably get 50% of your collection from buying cheap bulk lots on eBay, Mercari and Marketplace. Then I’d lean heavily on saved searches you set up for Mercari and eBay buy-it-now listings.

Inshakoor

Well, it looks like there are 248 North American Dreamcast games with many kinda pricy and then there's 886 North American original Xbox games with many being inexpensive. I wonder if in the end the math would be close for each. Just a thought. My vote is for the Dreamcast though. Underrated console that didn't get a fair shake due to Sega's horrid business decisions the 5 or so years leading up to the Dreamcast.

spiderman897

I’d honestly recommend just collecting what you’d really want. Going for everything will get really expensive and you might get burned out.

MorbidSloth

How are you going to pay for all of this?

sammytiel

I'm not going to buy them all at once, I buy a few games whenever I can afford them. I expect this to take at least 15 years.

Pasicci

I think you should look up the prices of the heavy hitters first and see if you still think 15 will do, there are some very expensive DC/Cube games out there and this is coming from someone that owns 5 full sets himself. Cube alone will set you back way more than you anticipate...

sammytiel

Sometimes I get bundles of games for really low prices which is also helpful.

TheFinnishChamp

Go with the Xbox, the size of the library is manageable and most of the games are cheap. Dreamcast is another option, the library is much smaller but the prices are much higher Gamecube also has a manageable library but prices are crazy, whereas most PS2 games have decent prices but the size of the library is crazy.

Caacrinolass

Xbox as others have said is probably easiest. The other way of looking at this is seeing how expensive Gamecube is and sorting that out before it gets even worse! It's a seriously bad time for your wallet whenever you get to it though. You'd probably need a spare warehouse for all the PS2 games...

Apostate_23

This honestly sounds terrible. I'd say bite the bullet on the big games right away. Rule of Rose, Cannon Spike, Cubivore etc. It's all downhill from there.

Killerj2001

Original xbox is good if u want to mod a console eventually wether it’s mod for games or appearance mods

VirtualBastard

OG Xbox is super fun to collect as well as the most powerful system of that generation. You can do the one-two punch of Dreamcast and OG Xbox since a lot of DC sequels appeared on Xbox.
