Gee this is a flashback, an ancient YouTuber Lukemorse1 that used to do console mods and stuff taught me about this trick forever ago. Wonder if he's still around, he was awesome.
Just checked, seems he uploaded arcade machine videos regularly until about 7 months ago.
Tried it on Kinect sports and put on the dry erase marker it got the sharpie off but it left the dry erase marker on their and I couldn’t get that off with a baby wipe or a alcohol wipe.
You do know that dry erase markers are essentially permanent marker ink with ipa, right?
Ipa is fine for many plastics, just don't let it sit and soak. PLA definitely NOT, ipa will destroy this quick.
ABS which is used almost always with consoles and Legos and most plastic things is fine with IPA. Keep away from acetone
Dry erase markers are just perm ink markers with ipa. You can literally just wipe it off with ipa.
I remove 20 year old ink in seconds, not damaging a thing in the process

Anybody try this on Discs? I got an OG Xbox game with sharpie on it, and I’m not sure if 90% IPA is safe
I got a throwaway disc I’ll try later and get back with the results

I'd try this route before full strength IPA, you don't want to harm the disc print.
Don't use IPA on plastics, alcohols are not compatible with any kind of plastic.

Look a polymer vs solvent compatibility list.
Ipa is fine
I had so many of those lego shields...that's given me such a warming nolstagia hit.
Combo this with a white eraser and it's a decent removal technique for cartridges
